I am doing SQL Server deployment of multiple SSIS projects. 2 of the projects have dtsx files that are named the same. Is there anyway to deploy to SQL Server to put these in different projects so that they dont conflict?
I have integrated Share Point server 2007 with Reports Server to publish the reports on share point site. I did all steps involved for integration
I have share point server, reports server and database server on three different machines configured and when I am trying to publish the reports from my local Dev box, setting the below project properties, target datasource folder: http://vstsvr:168/sites/wsL/ReportsLibrary/ target report folder: http://vstsvr:168/sites/wsL/ReportsLibrary/ target Server url: http://vstsvr:168/sites/wsL/
I am getting the following error:

Hello,I am currently creating a web app that I am creating using the Visual Web Developer Express IDE to create. I was planning on using a SQL Server Express database for the database backend. My problem is this...The web server i will deploying the app too does not have SQL Server, or Server Exress installed...can I still use the Server Express Database? Excuse my ignorance on this subject as I have is the passed used MS Access databases (my employer has never wanted to shell out the $$$ for SQL Server on our web server). Thanks in Advance for your help.-Dan
I've written an app in C# with ASP.NET in VS. I can connect from my development computer (laptop - XP) to MY server (Win 2003) running MS SQL just fine.
However, when I try to deploy it on the server that it is supposed to run on, I can't connect. I can connect through the network to the SQL server, but I just can't do it with the app. This tells me that my connection string must be wrong... Of course, suggestions would be great...
The SQL server (7.0) is on Windows NT. The app is on a windows 2000 server, and yes, .NET Framework is installed. The Windows NT server is the web server, and the 2000 has been set up as www2. I can see the app from the net, but when I try to log in (requiring connection to the SQL server to verify user and pword), no go.
These are my connection strings, please correct me if I'm wrong...
I've also tried them without the trusted connection, and with the server name... Same result (or lack thereof).
There's two connection strings, because one is used for the select statements for the public, and the other has all permissions for the back-end. I know it's redundant, but it's just one more safety feature I built in for the paranoid 'client'.
I have also tried to run the SQL server off of the 2000 box, but there's an error with the MMC... Does anyone know how to fix that, if it's a better solution???
Our workstations (XP SP2) and development servers (2003 R2) are all 32-bit. Our Staging and Production SQL Servers are 64-bit (2003 R2 x64). We have some VB SQLCLR assemblies we've developed.
My question is: Do we have to do anything special when deploying a CLR Assembly to a 64-bit box when it has been compiled on a 32-bit box? Are there any advantages to setting the Target CPU from "AnyCPU" to "x64"? Documentation and testing seems to indicate that the assembly will run in 64-bit mode if compiled to "AnyCPU".
Will it run "better" in 64-bit mode with the "x64" Target CPU type?
I have a multiple report server deployment, and we removed one of the servers from the farm, however the name still appears in the list on the initialize screen in report server configurator.
We removed reporting services from this box, but the name still appears in the list.
I am currently deploying my website. I cannot establish a link with the SQL sever express database. I followed the instructions of my web host (covered in this thread): http://forums.asp.net/thread/1698700.aspx and finally I received the currently unresolved error: "An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file d:hostingmembersharpeeuksite1App_Dataaspnetdb.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share." I told my webhost I have followed their instructions and they came back with the answer: "I would suggest you to upgrade the db's to use mssql 2005. This is because, sql express is built for development environment. When you are in development environment, you are accessing everything with administrator permission. However, in live hosting environment (when there are differnet kind of permission restrictions), sql express often failed on attaching database. Any kind of change to the database would require re-attaching database. Personally, I do not feel sql express is ready for the live hosting environment. We can try to fix the attaching problem for you, however, even if we do it for free for you, you might encounter attaching db problem the next time you make any kind of update to the database schema. " Is this correct? Is SQL server Express really unsuitable for deployment? I am using webhost4life.com - Does someone know a webhost that can host SQL server Express reliably? (that would seem a lot cheaper than upgrading to mssql 2005) Thanks for any advice
My site is hosted by Fasthosts(.co.uk), which means I cannot put an MS SQL database on my site: they don't support that sort of thing. I have to pay for a seperate SQL database on a seperate server (also hosted by fasthosts). They have given me an IP, a server name, a database name, login and password. They tell me that the server require SQL authentication. I have managed to contect to the database using MS VWD 2005 through the database explorer. I cannot however make changes to the database. I have therefore downloaded SQL Server Management Express. This is where I am stuck. I can't seem to get the software to find my database. One thing I have tried is i've set up a database on my system and then run replication. When I do this I get stuch at to the "enter the name of the computer running IIS" part of the wizard, I've tried entering in the IP of the server and the ip of my website. I have also tried connecting to the database direct (not using replication) but this fails when it tries, despite all the combinations of IP, server name and database name I try! Any ideas? Regards, Howard
I'm going to be starting a web application this week. I have quite a bit of experience with Access Databases, and I've also used MySQL (back in my PHP days, thank GOD for ASP.NET). The server we use to host our websites allows us to use SQL Server databases, so I want to move in that direction, but I'm not really sure where to start. If I download MSDE, and start a database with it on a site I will be developing locally (on my XP box), will it be difficult for me to transfer the database (or layout of the database) to a production server running SQL Server. I know they're basically the same database, but I'm just afraid to start with an MSDE database and then get the site nearly complete, and then not know how to transfer it to a SQL Server DB.
I'm particularly interested to know if the majority of the database creation will be done through queries (similar to MySQL) because I figure if it is, then I can use the same queries to create the database on both the local and production server.
I just want to make sure that downloading MSDE will be a step in the right direction.
Perhaps links or tutorials or some information on things to watch out for as I take on this process would be so greatly appreciated.
I would like to know how I can deploy Microsoft SQL 2000 Server Personal edition using SMS 2003 Sp2.
When I map a drive and I execute my batch file it install SQL 2000 correctly but when I try to deploy SQL 2000 server personal edition using SMS 2003, It said that I deployed successfully sql 2000 server but when I look into my client computer, it didn't install SQL so this is the problem I have.
This is probably a dumb question. But if I embed a SQL Server Express database into my project and then attempt to deploy it via ClickOnce, will I be able to access that database using the SQL Server Management Studio Express CTP if it is installed on the same machine as the client that my app would be installed?
I can not completely understand how to deploy sse with my application
To some degree I understand the explaning in Mikes Documentation
Things I don't get:
1)Do I not check the prerequisite server express because when I did and run the setup.exe that I build the thing that happens is that the sql package gets unpacked over and over along with a little message that it's taking a little longer then expected. I gues this is the fallpit where the actual setup.exe for sse is nothing being done with hence the wrapper.
A quote from Mikes document "If the VS Bootstrapper isn't flexible enough for you then". Well, I don't know what I'am doing wrong but it doesn't work at all. I had no problem with the other prerequisites (Framework, installer)
Back to the first question: if so do I manually add the SQLEXP.EXE (downloaded from the internet) or is it the sqlexpr32.exe in the same folder as the setup.exe for the application?
2) How is the wrapper invoked? I don't see that mentioned. I thought when you start the application itself, but that hardly seems logical.
Please anyone, give me some clear directions or additional expanatory

I had VS2005 in my machine and was working with a mobile device using Sql Server CE. While compiling and deploying device application to my mobile device it used to deploy the Sql Server CE cab files also. But now i have migrated to another machine ( Vista OS ) and installed VS2005 newly etc., Now when i try out the deployment of device application to my mobile device it is not deploying the Sql Server CE cab files but just copies the SqlServerCe dll file. So when my application launches in the mobile device i get an error can't PInvoke sqlceme30.dll etc.,
I know that i can manually copy the cab files to my device and work. Its little tedious. Can anyone tell me how to achieve the behavior of my old VS2005 wherein it automatically deploys the SqlServer CE cab files? Is there a setting in VS2005 to enable this. I read in one of the posts that we can go modify the option Tools->Options->Smart device and enable an option to deploy the latest updates etc., But i couldn't find such an option in my VS2005.
P.S: I have installed my SqlServer Mobile edition 3.0 SDK to the default path under program files. Should i install it under VS2005 smartdevices SDK or something like that? I tried that also but still no success.
I'm building a app for a sprint pocket pc: ppc-6700. I've been able to install the .NET cf 2.0 and run an app with little problem. I've created a new app that uses the sqlerverce namespace and from what I've read that will push the sql server mobile onto my device what i deploy it. When I do that it gives me an error saying:
Installation error. Stop all applications and processes, maximize available storage space, and run installation again. Support info 2.
When I hit ok it then finishes and then gives me an error in VS 2005 saying:
Error 1 Deployment and/or registration failed with error: 0x8973190e. Error writing file '%CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES%ppctestppctest.exe'. Error 0x80070020: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Not sure what to do from here. Any help would be appreciated. TIA!
Do we need to perform any special checks when we deploy SQL Server application developed using 32 bit SQL 2005 Edition in 64 bit SQL 2005 Edition?
To my understanding, 64 bit SQL Server 2005 provides better memory management and provides high performance when compared to 32 bit and it should not be an issue in deploying the application developed in 32 bit SQL Server 2005 in 64 bit environment.
Any help/hints on deploying in 64 bit SQL Server (for a product[SPs, TSQL Stmts] developed using 32 bit SQL Server) is appreciated.
Hey guys,I'm having a problem. I've been given a task to complete. I was given a database, and asked to wrap a website around it with certain functionality. I did this, and added seven stored procedures in the proccess. Everything works, Business Logic Layer, Data Access Layer, error validation, even screwed around with SQL-injection protection. Lovely, yes? However, when my little website gets tested, it's going to be plugged into a fresh database - the exact same database I was given, only with different data in the tables. My stored procedures won't be in that database. I can detect if my stored procedure doesn't exist easily enough by catching the error at runtime and checking the code. I would like to create the stored procedure inside that catch block. I just don't know how.The easy answer is just to use embedded SQL in my application instead of stored procedures. This isn't a commercial application, it's just a task I've been given to test my abilities. But embedded SQL is icky. I'd rather do it properly.
Hi- I am trying to use the same SQL Server 2005 express DB with two different project. I am using the Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename syntax in the connection string. The first project can attach and connect just fine. The second project is a windows service that uses the same connection string. The windows service cannot connect to the DB though. It looks like it is trying to attach the DB again even though it is already attached. Shouldn't it only try to attach it if it isn't already attached? Here is the error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'.Cannot attach the file 'C:path' as database 'dbname'.
When i deploying a report model by visual studio, a login window popped , a '' char in the user name textbox. I input my username and password ,then click "OK",but nothing happened.the window showing yet.I view the RS log, there is a message: "login failed". But, deploy report project is very well. Has any idea with this problem?
There are my RS configurations: Sql Server 2005 sp2. Visual studio 2005 sp1. Reporting Services with Form Authentication.
I am trying to deploy reports to my secure report server. When I attempt to deploy it's not authenticating me and I get an error:

I have created reports using RS.The reports that are generated are build and deployed sucessfully. But when i run the reports through http://localhost/ReportServer I am not able to see the Report. A blank page is displayed with no error message.Whenever i change the Url to http://computername/ReportServer then also the same problem arises. I have already checked the ReportServer Instance and the Folder on which Reports are Deployed.I mean I am able to access the ReportFolder, the Report also, but the Report is not shown.

I am new to SSRS. I have installed Reporting services and configured the report server. But i keep getting error messages when i try to deploy the report. I am not able to see the report in SSMS either. The error says it is not able to connect to the report server. Could anyone please help me? It is quite urgent
Respected Sir this thing I knew 2 year later, unfortunately forget and missplace
I want to not depend on sql server 2000 clients , can I include some dll s in my vb6 setup sothat I may not depend on sql server client to install all my clients I want to add dependancy files of sql server in my deployment setup of application written in vb6 ans sql server plz help me Can anybody provide liste of these files
I use .net 2005 and server, the application i developed connects to a locally hosted mssql db, I want to deploy the application together with the db to client machine.
when i installed the application on the target machine, and run the application, it gave me this message : "an error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - could not open a connection to SQL Server)
I didn't quite understand this message. because in the "SQL Server Configuration Manager", i set the SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) to "Automatic" start mode, which means that it is connected, doesnt it?
plz help previously i was seeking help on vb.net forum, but got stuck on database distribution. please read more: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=192093&SiteID=1&mode=1
I have two SQL 2014 Enterprise Edition installed with the SSRS (native) role installed.
Both server are configured separately with their own Report Server database. Now I want to configured a scale out deployment with a shared database.
On Server 1, I created a new Report Server database. On the second server, I change the database and joined the existing database. The problem is that the second server never shows up under Scale-Out deployment (Waiting to Join).
Ive successfully cloned an SSRS VM Server within a scale out deployment to REPLACE a current physical machine. This wasn't too difficult.
The issue im having now is in creating a new SQL 2014 Environment with 3 SSRS nodes. Ive taken the time to build one up. Changed all my config files, installed all components etc & tweaks needed within my company...
I have now hit a brick wall though. Ive cloned this first server twice to give me 3 nodes. This is a new environment so the issue I have is that the rsreportserver.config files all now have the same InstallationID. I dont have any existing nodes to overwrite these files with. So when I attach the nodes to the database they will update the keys table with the same InstallationID as the first node and none will work.
Any way to force the SSRS setup to re-generate an installation ID - by repair maybe? Or is this something I can manually just make up?
At my current employer we are struggling with the best way to manage security and deployment of a project that contains databases, SSIS, SSAS and SSRS components, using configurations.
Environment (Dev): 3 SQL Server databases, all using mixed-mode security, using SQL Server security credentials. 12 SSIS packages; one master package, eleven child packages, 3 shared data sources 1 SSAS database; one cube, 15 dimensions, three referenced data sources from the SSIS project (in same solution) 6 SSRS reports, one data source to cube (not shared- doesn't appear SSRS can share datasources among other projects in the solution? Why?)
Everything runs fine in development. Now comes the tricky part.
Deploying SSIS and SSAS into production environments:
-Packages use XML config files for connection strings to three relational data sources. -Deploy to SQL Server storage. Deploy wizard copies package dependencies (including XML config files) to default location set in INI file. When I do this, no config file shows up in remote server (remote server not set up identical to local, so directory does not exist. Need UNC path?) So, being a developer with no "special" permissions on the PROD server, what security permissions is allowing the deployment wizard from copying files to this location on a production server? -Using a deploy script using dtutil doesn't copy the SSIS dependencies. Is this matter of using COPY or XCOPY to copy the configuration files to the dependency location? Again, in real-world practice, do developers typically change this location in the INI file to another location, or stick with the default. In either case, how does security work that allows files to get copied to the remote folder? (i.e. manual, or SQL Server manages this file folder permission through some other magic) When using SSMS and running the package after being deployed on the remote server, if the config path is the default (e.g. C:program filesMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSPackages...) it appears to be read from the local machines directory rather than the remote machines directory path (do I need to use UNC paths? The wizard doesn't give this option it seems) -When scheduling the job from SQL Agent, does the proxy account need permissions to the folder the config files sit in? -What about the roles security on the packages themselves? Where does the server roles come into play (dtsltuser, dtsadmin) -Because the SSAS project uses connection references to the SSIS project in BIDS, and SSIS project uses configurations, will SSAS pick up on these connections? -What about impersonation levels for SSAS? Leave all data sources set to default, and set the database impersonation level to "UseServiceAccount"? What if the developer is not the same as the OLAP administrator on the production server? In this case, Use Service Account isn't an option, and neither is the current users credentials. -SSAS database also has security for Full Control, but still doesn't prevent security at the data source level within the database (talking about impersonation level, not source db credentials) -How can SSRS connections leverage other shared connections?
As you can see, there are a ton of security considerations, none of which are intuitive and can be configured multiple ways and actually work (and a ton of ways that won't work).
I need a simple cheat-sheet about each step to take to configure this so multiple developers can work without interruption, hot-deploying SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS changes into different environments (QA, PROD).
I'm working through the SQL2005 Reporting Services Tutorial. When I try to deploy, I get the error "Connection could not be made to the report server." It appears that I do not have permissions to get to localhost/reportserver (I get a permissions error when just trying to get there directly from "run"). In another forum I saw several people having the same issue. One contributor said that the problem was solved for him by uninstalling SQL2005 and reinstalling using the local system account rather than a windows domain account. I tried that, but am getting the same error. Anyone know how to fix this?
I've developed a desktop application for a company. It uses click once deployment and has a few prereqs: .NET Framework 2.0, j# .NET redistributable, windows installer 3.1 and SQL Server 2005 express edition.
Most of the time the application downloads and installs fine. However, one user has a problem. I'm fairly certain it's machine / OS related and I wonder if there is a way to get around it.
The user has a Windows 2000 machine, Pentium III, with 512 MB of RAM.
On their first try, they received an error while installing SQL Server 2005 Express. The error code the user found in the install log was 70095. Apparently the user found some information directing them to install the current MDAC 2.8 SP 1. After rebooting and trying the install again, it errored out. The new error code is 1706. Below is the install log.
As I said, I'm faily certain it's an OS issue, but I do hope there is a way around the issue other than trying to get the user to upgrade. If you need any other information, please let me know and I'll try to get it from the user.
