I have downloaded MDAC 2.6 SDK and I still get the error message and this time it reads like: Install MS SQL Server ODBC Driver version 3.70.0623 and ODBC Driver Manager 3.5 greater. Where can I download such files? Can anyone out there help me please.
I apologize if this is not the correct forum for this posting. Looking at the descriptions, it appeared to be the best choice.
I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. I have installed the SQL Native Client for XP. However, when I try to add a new data source through ODBC Connection Manager, SQL Native Client is not listed as an option. I have followed this procedure on three other systems with no problems. What would be causing the SQL Native Client to not show up in the list of available ODBC data sources?
On localhost this application works fine but when I put on remote server. I am getting following errors. For both localhost and server, I am using same remote sql 2000. I will appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Arif

Please help share with me if you know the version compatibility matrix of Ms SQL Server, ODBC driver (sqlsrv32.dll), Driver Manager (odbc32.dll) and ODBC API spec. For instance, how can I know Ms SQL Server 2000 can work with which version of sqlsrv32.dll, a particular version of sqlsrv32.dll can work with which version of odbc32.dll and a certain version of sqlsrv32.dll/odbc32.dll conforms to which version of ODBC API spec (e.g. 3.5).
I am using SSIS 2014 with the below .net framework version and installed in Windows server 2012 R2 . I have installed my client's odbc drivers (both 32 bit and 64 bit) in my production server and created ODBC system DSNs for 32 bit and 64 bit.
When i open SSIS 2014 and tried to create the odbc connection but i can able to see only the 32 bit system DSN connection ,i can't able to see my 64 bit odbc system dsn connection.
Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Shell (Integrated) Version 11.0.50727.1 RTMREL Microsoft .NET Framework Version 4.5.51650
SQL Server Integration Services Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Designer Version 12.0.1524.0
And i installed my client odbc drivers(32,64 bit) and created ODBC system DSNs in my local system and when i open ssis 2014 and i can able to see both the ODBC system DSNS(32,64) connections from SSIS ODBC connection.
I am using below version of .net framework in my local system which was installed in windows 7 and i have SSIS 2012 also installed in my system and i can able to see both ODBC connections using 2012 as well in my local system.
Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Shell (Integrated) Version 11.0.50727.1 RTMREL Microsoft .NET Framework Version 4.5.50938
SQL Server Integration Services Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Designer Version 12.0.1524.0
why i can not see the ODBC 64 bit system DSN connection from SSIS in my production server ?
I am using VB.NET 2005 and set up an ODBC connection via ODBC.ODBCConnection to a MDB database. Therefor, I use the "Microsoft Access ODBC Driver (*.mdb)".
When I set up a ODBCCommand like "ALTER DATABASE..." or "CREATE TABLE..." and issue it with the com.ExecuteNonQuery() command, I get an error from ODBC driver, that a SQL statement has to begin with SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE.
How can I use DDL statements via ODBC?
I would appreciate if you could help me to use ODBC for that - no OLE, no ADO.

Hi all,I am having trouble getting linked Oracle 9 server in MS SQL Server2005 Express to work properly. My machine is running Windows XP.The Microsoft and Oracle OLE DB Providers have problems dealing withOracle's Numeric Data Type, so I decided to use Microsoft's OLE DB forODBC Provider and an Oracle ODBC source. When using the Microsoft ODBCfor Oracle Driver in my ODBC source I have inconsistent behavior.Sometimes my queries are processed properly, then other times I get thefollowing errorOLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "ODBCBEAST" returnedmessage "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttrfailed".OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "ODBCBEAST" returnedmessage "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttrfailed".OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "ODBCBEAST" returnedmessage "[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]".Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 1Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL"for linked server "ODBCBEAST".I have no idea why sometimes I can connect to the linked server with noproblems andwhy other times it performs like this. I'm not changing anything aboutthe system I can think of. When I use an Oracle client (PL/SQL) I haveabsolutely no problems connecting. TNSPING returns that the connectionis good. This is unacceptable so I decided to try my luck with the Oracle 10gODBC driver. However when I use this and perform an openquery selectagainst the linked server I get back only 11 rows, when I know that thedatabase has over 100 rows (in fact when using the Microsoft ODBCdriver and it works that's what I get). I figured maybe the buffersetting needed to be raised in the ODBC configuration so I took it from64000 to 600000 (a magnitude of 10) but I still get back only 11 rows.I'm at my wit's end.Any suggestions on resolving one or the other problem would be muchappreciated. Thanks much
Dear all,On Win2000 server with SP3, I am trying to access a SQL Server 7.0database, "TestDB", from VB6 via a SQL Server ODBC system DSN using ADO2.7. In SQL Server Enterprise Manager, there is a login named "Tester".In its property window, NO "Server Roles" was assigned but its"Database Access" was set to "TestDB". This login was also made as theuser of "TestDB" with "public", "db_datareader" and "db_datawriter"selected as its "Database role membership". All the tables I am tryingto access in "TestDB" were created under "Tester".My code is like:Set conn = New ADODB.Connectionconn.Open "DSN=TestDSN;UID=Tester;PWD=test"Set cmd = New ADODB.Commandcmd.ActiveConnection = conncmd.CommandText = SQLset rs = cmd.Execute()If I set the SQL to something like "SELECT * FROM tbl_test", I alwaysget an error of "-2147217865" saying "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL ServerDriver][SQL Server] Invalid object name tbl_test". If I set the SQL to"SELECT * FROM Tester.tbl_test", everything runs properly. Could anyoneplease kindly advise why the first SQL is not working? Or in otherwords, why must I prefix the table name with its owner while the DBconnection is already made under that owner name? Thanks in advance.Tracy
recently, I use the following script(somebody else) to create a database on a remote server: the script is as follow: /*************************/ CREATE DATABASE [ErrorLog] GO
if not exists (select * from master.dbo.syslogins where loginname = N'ErrorLog') BEGIN declare @logindb nvarchar(132), @loginlang nvarchar(132) select @logindb = N'Navigator', @loginlang = N'us_english' if @logindb is null or not exists (select * from master.dbo.sysdatabases where name = @logindb) select @logindb = N'master' if @loginlang is null or (not exists (select * from master.dbo.syslanguages where name = @loginlang) and @loginlang <> N'us_english') select @loginlang = @@language exec sp_addlogin N'ErrorLog', 'secret', @logindb, @loginlang END GO
if not exists (select * from dbo.sysusers where name = N'ErrorLog' and uid < 16382) EXEC sp_grantdbaccess N'ErrorLog', N'ErrorLog' GO
Grant select, insert On Errors to ErrorLog /***************************/ in my *.asp program, I used the following string to connect to the database on the remote server. /******** con.open "dsn=ErrorLog;uid=ErrorLog;pwd=secret;" ********/ the following message comes up: /********/ Error Type: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80040E4D) [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'ErrorLog'. /*********/ what is the problem here? when I set up dsn ErrorLOG, I used "abc" userID and password "XXX" which is our server database administrator assigned to me. I tested connection in odbc, it is OK I just don't get, ther user ErrorLog already had login id and granted access to database errorlog. any clue, please help! Betty
I am receiving the following error when starting a program called ShelbySystems that is supposed to connect to a local database. I don't think this is a security issue but I don't know much about SQL server either so...
DIAG [08001] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Shared Memory]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. (17) DIAG [01000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Shared Memory]ConnectionOpen (Connect()). (2)

I am including the trace log in case it is useful.
when I was sending 50 simultaneous connections to the web services, I got these 2 errors: - "1[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. "
- "An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.)"
Everything worked fine if I ran 10 simultaneous connections. I am using Microsoft ACT to load test the web service. The database is SQL Server 2000. Any idea about why this is happening?
I am running Windows 2003 Standard edition with IIS and SQL 2000 SP3a installed on it.
The web clients use ASP pages which use DSN to connect to SQL 2000 database. It has been working fine since last 1.5 years except 2 days ago when I faced this error suddenly on server:
I checked the error logs of SQL server and didn't find anything. Only entries were that the SQL is starting database, ports and IPs on which it is listening etc. The usual stuff. No errors in starting.
The SQL Agent log showed following errors:
2004-11-30 04:45:33 - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 2, ConnectionOpen (Connect()). [SQLSTATE 01000] 2004-11-30 04:45:33 - ! [382] Logon to server '(local)' failed (JobManager) 2004-11-30 04:45:36 - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 17, SQL Server does not exist or access denied. [SQLSTATE
I don't understand what was the problem. It first occured when nothing on server was changed, next it occured 30-32 hours later, and still now it hasn't happened again.
I am new to SQL Server, sorry for my ignorance !!!
I have installed SQL Server 2005 Express on my desktop (Win 2000 Pro.)
I have created a new database.
I just created a new login/user (SQL Authentication) and when I try to login, it
errors out:
[S0001][unixODBC][Easysoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'test1'
I believe the error is from SQL Server and not from ODBC driver.
I am also only able to connect by using my own userid (the one that I am connected to my desktop): domainuserid, and then I am only able to connect to 'master' db:
/usr/local/etc>isql SQLSERVER_POS -v +---------------------------------------+ | Connected! | | | | sql-statement | | help [tablename] | | quit | | | +---------------------------------------+ SQL> use pcspos [S0001][unixODBC][Easysoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'pcspos'. I am using PowerDesigner to reverse engineer a SQL 2000 database. I am getting the following error. I can't find out what this error means. Does anyone know?

Actually i have linked server in SQL 2000 with Provider:Microsoft OLEDB for ODBC which is working perfectly fine. I don't know the password for this linked server too.
Now i want to create same linked server with same provider in SQL server 2005 for Microsoft oledb for ODBC but they don't have this provider in 2005. How can i make it to work.ANy expert who knows this.
and how to use same password in linkedserver in 2005

Hi, Does anyone know why I can not create data connection? It says that SQL server does allow remote connection, everything was looking ok when I was installing it..
I have a ASP.Net application. I'm trying to access access data using SQL Server my web config has <add key="connectionString" value="DRIVER={Sql Server};Server=(local);initial catalog=ymquizco_registration;User ID=sa;pwd=test"/> MY CONNECTION STRING HAS THIS VALUE "DRIVER={Sql Server};Server=localhost;initial catalog=ymquizco_registration;User ID=sa;pwd=test" But the conn.Open();is throwing this error: {"ERROR [28000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'WORK\ASPNET'. ERROR [01S00] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Invalid connection string attribute ERROR [28000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'WORK\ASPNET'. ERROR [01S00] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Invalid connection string attribute" } My SQL Server is configured at mixed mode authentication. This seems like a install issue. Can someone think of something.
I have a linked server set up to a FoxPro database. I have used the 'Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC' as the Provider name, the datasource name is 'TestFoxPro' and the Catalog is AssetTracker.
I have set it up and I am able to see the table objects in the Enterprise manager, but I am unable to select from the tables in the Query analyzer. I I have tried
select * from Test2.assettracker.dbo.assets
but i get the following error
Server: Msg 7312, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Invalid use of schema and/or catalog for OLE DB provider 'MSDASQL'. A four-part name was supplied, but the provider does not expose the necessary interfaces to use a catalog and/or schema.
So i have tried three part name, but then it does not find the object.
We migrated one database from SQL Server 6.5 to 7.0. One of our applications connects to SQL Server using ODBC driver.
We created a new driver pointing on our new server,we can write and execute most of the queries that don't return a big RecordCount. As soon as we try to execute a query that should return more then 125-140 rows, the process fails returning an 'Interface Error' error message.
When we tested same queries pointing to the old (SQL Server 6.5) box, they worked fine.
We upgraded our ODBC ActiveX to a newer version, it allows us to get a few more rows only.
I have a lot of client machines that do not have the SQL Server ODBC driver installed. Without having to install SQL Server client on their computers, I'd much prefer to just install the driver itself. Where on earth do I get it? The microsoft website is about the most confusing site when it comes to looking for driver downloads.
Dear All, When trying to connect to the server outside the firewall through an ODBC connection string, we get the following error:
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot open database requested in login '[database name]'. Login fails.
When trying to uncover some more information pertaining to this problem, we get the associated error number, 4060. When researching this number, we see that the number has an associated error severity code of 11. Thus Microsoft is saying that it is a problem that could be corrected at the user level. Ok, I am missing something. I give. Does anyone have a new idea or an approach on which I can begin to uncover new information? We have also checked the database login and the login for the MTSServices is in fact able to access the database through an integrated login with NT Security. Also the Domain Administrator for User Rights does not have the specific NT Group enabled to log onto the computer from the network but the 'Everyone' field is still on the server. If anyone has specific questions, email me directly. Thanks for your help in advance. Daimon
Hello, We're upgrading to SQL Server 7.0 and need to update all our clients with the latest version of the ODBC and SQL Server Drivers. Can someone tell how to update just these drivers? We tried to use the latest MDAC executable, but it broke applications on at least one client, so we were hoping to narrow it down to just ODBC and SQL Server. Thanks, Dan Holland
In moving from odbc driver 2.65 to 3.6, we are getting a new error message. 'Unable to connect to data source xxxxx. Your user name or password may be incorrect.' [Microsoft][ ODBC Driver Manager] Driver does not support this function. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks for any assistance. Karen Suenram
If I set up my DSN using SQL Server Authentication am I then compelled to use a connection string to connect to the database (in order to supply the user name and password). At the moment every time my application tries to connect to SQL Server on a PC that has a DSN set up using SQL Server Authentication, a Login box pops up.
