I build a SQL Server Report using VS2005 in SQL Server 2005, Application is building with out any errors..I am able to preview the report data also
If I deply the application on http://localhost/ReportService I am getting the A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer) error.
I need to deploy reports to a server in Spain, which I do not have direct access to. Is there any way that I can simply deploy the reports to a server here, that I have access to, and then copy the reports to the server in Spain??? Or is there any other way? I cannot expect the customers in Spain to be able to use Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 themselves to deploy reports (they do not even have access to the tool).

How do I set up reporting services on a clustered server? I have configured reporting services on both clusters, but somehow I cannot initialize both of them. Only on will be initialized at a time. Does anyone have experience with this?
I have created a ssrs report using ssrs-2012 that contains 2 tables 2 pie charts and 1 line chart. But I am unable to see 2 pie charts and and 1 line chart after deploying the rdl in sharepoint server.
Why I am not able to see those charts, or sharepoint server will not support charts at all.
I've installed reporting services and reporting services sp2 on my local computer and I have admin rights on this computer.
But when I am trying to deploy reports in the report server, It is asking for login and password. If I give my machine login and password, it is not taking.
Even if type http://localhost/reportserver or http://localhost/reports it is giving an error saying
"CS0016: Could not write to output file 'c:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727Temporary ASP.NET Files eportserver1bbf2d182968d42eApp_global.asax.2trocnva.dll' -- 'Access is denied. "
I've been trying to fix it for past few days but I couldn't.
Hi, I'm having an issue with reporting services installed on a Win2000 machine. I was able to install RS successfully on the server. Everything worked fine, but when I try to deploy a project, SS BIDS keeps asking for a valid password, no matter if I enter any valid password or not. After that if I try to access reporting service, the web interface says:
€śThe report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information. (rsServerConfigurationError) Get Online Help €?
In order to get it back working I have to go to Reporting Services Configuration Manager and mark €śApply default settings€? in Report Server Virtual Directory and Report Manager Virtual Directory. It is worth to say that no matter what project I try to deploy, it is always the same behavior, and that no error log is generated either in event viewer or in the reporting services log directory. Any idea what is happening? Regards, Germán.
my problem is , i want to deploy my rdl and rds file which i make in the sql 2005 reporting services. Now i want to deploy this rdl through asp.net coding using language VB i hope someone is help me Thanks Rahul Sinha
I would like to know if it is resonable and acceptable to make reports created through SQL Server Reporting services available through our Public facing applications.
Also, what are the potential problems? Security? Impact on the SQL Server? Limit to specific types of reports?
If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated, I am a big fan of SQL Reporting but we are unsure if we are going to be able to use the reports on the Public side and we don't want two separate sets of reports (internal and Public).
I am trying to place text boxes in the header of a matrix in order to give each row group(i.e. each drill-down area in my matrix a header). This can be done in Reporting Services 2005.
However when I deploy this report to the corresponding url(Report Manager) it seems to be losing its formatting and not displaying correctly. The textboxes placed in the matrix header seem to go all over the place.
I do get a warning when I deploy the report ->
[rsOverlappingReportItems]. Some renderers do not support overlapping report items.
I am trying to deploy a shape file map of the world with 100 random data points from my dataset but get this error: "exception running the extensions specified in the config file. ---> Maximum request length exceeded". I can preview this fine in SSDT. I have read various solutions which involve editing the config file but I don't have permissions to get to these files. Is there any way to amend the maximum length either through SSMS or SSDT? If not how can I make my map size small enough to deploy? It is a very simple shape file with no colours etc and I am passing random 100 data points to it from my dataset.
1. have report called report_a.rdl with subscriptions attached to it 2. developed a new report called report_b.rdl with the same parameter list as report_a.rdl 3. i would like to replace report_a.rdl with report_b.rdl without losing the subscriptions.
I think this is the workflow:
1. rename report_a.rdl to report_a_old.rdl in BIDS 2. rename report_b.rdl to report_a.rdl in BIDs 3. deploy report_a.rdl to reporting server
Will that work even though the ReportID GUID will change?
I've had VS2005 installed for quite some time but I just purchansed SQL Server 2005 Developer and installed it. How do I accomplish integeration with SQL Server 2005 to VS2005? I had C# express at one point and SQL Express with the full tool install. That provided me with a designer for SQL Server (which was simply VS2005) and a seperate development environment under C# express. How do I integerate them so all the functionality resides within VS2005?
Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.
I've serached this forum and Google'd for a resolution to this issue, to no avail. Here's the scenario: I'm running VS 2005 on Windows Media Center laptop and need to create ASP.net membership for my web application built using VB. I have SQL Server Developer installed with instance name MSSQLSERVER. Previously, I uninstalled SQL Express and installed Developer edition and can now open and utilize Management Studio.
Now, when I try to create a new SQL Server database in my solution's App_Data directory, I receive the above error. I already changed instance name in VS2005 per Tools-Options-Database Tools-Data Connections to MSSQLSERVER.
Could someone provide me with a list of procedures to ensure proper setup of VS2005 with SQL Server Developer Edition?
hi, i've currently created a linked server using sql server management studio express (it connects to an oracle database to draw data), i can query it all fine using the query analyzer with sql server etc. how can i start using the linked server data with visual studio 2005? i can't seem to find the linked server anywhere inside the server explorer, am i suppose to import it / connect to it any specific way so i can start using the data retreived from the linked server? thanks in advance!
HiI recently installed MS SQL Server 2005 Developer Ed. w/ SP2 on my XP... I use VS2005 to create personal websites. I was previously using SQL Server Express, and things worked fine by default settings. I am a beginner to web development and I really don't know anything about SQL Server. I'm guessing it needs to be configured somehow to work with VS, but I have no idea how to do that. I have an existing Web App which uses a database for login functionality, and everytime I try and log on I get this message:An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)I made sure that the Server's database engine accepts remote connections but that didn't help. Does anyone have any suggestions?~Miro
When I try to attach an ".mdf" to a project by right clicking on the project name the software looks for an instance of SQL Server 2005 Express. How do I alter this behavior to have it look to my full copy of SQL Server 2005 which appears to be working correctly?
I had VS2005 in my machine and was working with a mobile device using Sql Server CE. While compiling and deploying device application to my mobile device it used to deploy the Sql Server CE cab files also. But now i have migrated to another machine ( Vista OS ) and installed VS2005 newly etc., Now when i try out the deployment of device application to my mobile device it is not deploying the Sql Server CE cab files but just copies the SqlServerCe dll file. So when my application launches in the mobile device i get an error can't PInvoke sqlceme30.dll etc.,
I know that i can manually copy the cab files to my device and work. Its little tedious. Can anyone tell me how to achieve the behavior of my old VS2005 wherein it automatically deploys the SqlServer CE cab files? Is there a setting in VS2005 to enable this. I read in one of the posts that we can go modify the option Tools->Options->Smart device and enable an option to deploy the latest updates etc., But i couldn't find such an option in my VS2005.
P.S: I have installed my SqlServer Mobile edition 3.0 SDK to the default path under program files. Should i install it under VS2005 smartdevices SDK or something like that? I tried that also but still no success.
I have a default SQL server 2005 setup on my machine.
There is a large database to whom i can connect.
I made my own data by Sql server Mobile on my local machine and then try to connect it
to the the application in visual studio 2005.
But it each time it gives that the port cannot be open.
I am a native client for SQL server.
Do we have any idea how wil i connect to database local to machine with the
application in Visual studio 2005 with C# language.
thanks

Hello,I am using SQLServer Express and Visual Studio 2005 to create the website. I would like to implement FullText search, but have never done it before. I have looked at the msdn documentation on FullText search in SQLServer 2005 here http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms142519.aspx.I cannot seem to figure out how to use a FT search using Visual Studio. Can someone please help me configure my database and then explain how I can run queries based on user input to return data?
I use Visual Studio 2005 Standard. I would like to know the best way that I can create Sql Server 2005 Express databases visually since VS2005 Std. does not allow me to do it. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance,

I'd be interested in knowing how VS doesn't allow you to create a database. What error are you getting? There are two ways to create databases, depending on your goal:
To just create a database on your server, do the following:
Open the Server Explorer Right-click on Data Connections Click Create New SQL Server Database Specify Server Name and Database Name
Your database will be created and you can start working with it.
Embed a database in your project:
On the Project menu, click Add New Item. Select SQL Database from the list and give it a name. Click OK
This will run you thorugh a wizard to create the database. If your having problems doing either of these, you may not have SQL Server installed on your computer or VS might be pointing to the wrong Instance Name. Check out the Option dialog under Database Tools:ata Connection and verify that the correct instance is specified.
I am trying to create a similar project and I also recieve an error while trying to create a database...
"An error has occured while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could Not Open A Connection to SQL Server."
Now let me explain what i am trying to do ... I am trying to create a web interface for the data that I want to store in the SQL database. I have installed VS2005 & SQL Server Express 2005 on my local machine. I want to develope this project on my local machine and then transfer it to a server once i have finished the project.
If i am doing this all wrong, please let me know !
I use Visual Studio 2005 Standard. I would like to know the best way that I can create Sql Server 2005 Express databases visually since VS2005 Std. does not allow me to do it.
My understanding is that at installation of all but the Express edition, there is no choice but to have VS2005 installed as well. If this is true, can VS 2005 at least be uninstalled after a different debugger is enlisted?
as I'm relatively new to Sql Server Express, I have a few questions regarding best practices for data handling.
In my ASP.net Application I thought it might be of high value to create the database as mdf file in my vs2005 project, so I could easily copy the database with the project.
Now inside VS2005 I have the problem of not being able to create any SQL Statements other than queries. For example simple create table statements and such seem not to be possible if I don't want to use the designer.
So I attached the mdf file to my Sql Server Express in Sql Management Studio Express. But here I seem not be able to detach the file again when I made some changes. Only option is to delete the whole thing.
So my questions are:
1. Is it somehow possible to send simple sql statements to a sql server express database from Visual Studio 2005? 2. How can I detach an mdf database file from Sql Server Express once I have attached it with Sql Management Studio Express? 3. Should I use a different approach to my problem?
Hi Well this is my first post on this forum, in fact I have not even used SQL Server yet!
My question is.... I have been asked to produce an application which will be a VB6 application with an SQL Server database behind it. I would like to be able to put the application along with the database on to a CD and run them directly from the CD once it is distributed. So the question I guess is can this be done with SQL Server i.e. can a table be exported in a format which will allow it to be queried in a standalone fashion? Maybe I have not explained myself properly but I welcome any questions which will help clarify my problem.
Can someone show me, or direct me, to a source, that shows me how, and what to change, when deploying a website from a development server running Sql Ex to a production server running Sql server 2005. I can’t get the sites to run under Sql server 2005.
They work in Sql Ex. what must I change? The connection string, to what format? and what else? I attached the dB to Sql 2005 and browsed the content in the Sql manager. But can’t get the aspx pages to work on the server.
Since from using my local host to view my website, I am assuming I already have SQL Server installed on my computer? Is it possible to have users access my website files directly onto there own computer, say if they type my ip address or domain name into their address bar? What I am actually wanting to do is to host my website from my home computer... Any ideas, or good slash easy to understand articles on how to do this?
Guys, Let me first give you a little bit of background...
One of my goals for this year is to migrate all DTS packages to SSIS, those DTS packages are used across the company by different groups/users.
Since I'm still not that familiar with SSIS and like many here, was well used to the enterprise manager view (all DTS packages on 1 single place), I'm unsure on how to structure my SSIS packages in a way that I could break it down by group let's say. The way that I'm doing right now is: I'm creating a solution for each group and creating the SSIS packages (.dtsx) relative to that group inside each solution, that's pretty easy. Now, the next thing that I'll have to figure out (and hope you guys can help) is how to deploy them structured this way and how to handle these packages to my end users. Basically, how do I handle "Group A" all of their SSIS packages? Will they have to open the package in debug mode on VS every time they need to execute a package?
I have installed SSRS on my local machine with all default settings. Report manager and report server and reportserver data base and reportservertempDB all are in my local machine. Now I have already created few reports. but now the company wants to deploy them to the main server. Now can I do this? Do I have to chage the report configuration settings. Does it effect to my current reports? If this is possible, can anyone tell me how to do this please?
I have developed a windows mobile 5.0 application that is currently syncing with sql server 2005. I want to deploy the application with sql server express for the client. What do I need to do to make this work?
I devloped this app with vs2005 and SQL 2005 express, everything seems to work fine, when I deploied the app to my web server I got a few different error messages that I worked through but now stuck on this one. i am sure it is something with SQL 2005 server. is there anywhere that has a good check list for doing things right in asp and SQL deployment? here is the error message i am getting from debugging. The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'Categories', database 'Blog', schema 'dbo'. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. I am building a site, I'd like to use SQL server, but once the site is finished it i for a organisation who do a lot of community voluntary work. So to keep the costs down I plan to install on their server a copy of MSDE as the datasource.
I know it is a simple question, but if I build the site using SQL server and deploy onto MSDE will the site still work?
