SQL Server - Select Records Added Today, Last 3 Days, 7 Days...
Oct 25, 2006
Hello,
I am writing a query to select records added to a table today, in the last 3 days, in the last 7 days, and so on.
Here is what I have (which seems that its not working exactly).
-- total listed today
SELECT COUNT (*) FROM mytable WHERE DATEDIFF(Day, mydatecolumn, getdate() ) <= 0
-- total listed yesterday
SELECT COUNT (*) FROM mytable WHERE DATEDIFF(Day, mydatecolumn, getdate() ) <= 1
-- total listed in the last 3 days
SELECT COUNT (*) FROM mytable WHERE DATEDIFF(Day, mydatecolumn, getdate() ) <= 3
I'd like to be able to select the count for records added within the last X number of days.
Can someone please help me out? Thanks so much in advance.

select * from libraryrequestwhere duedate > getdate() and duedate != getdate()

Hi,I feel stupid for posting this question but I cannot find out how to create an SQL statement to return records that have been added today.My database table has a field called calldate which hold the date and time of the record added to the database i.e. "02/08/2005 16:55:41".Please can someone let me know how I can search to find all records added today. I thought it would be something like it, but I assume I need to format the calldate so it's just 02/08/2005.Select *From TableWhere CallDate = GetDate()ThanksBrett

I want to retreive users that had their birthdays 7days before today and will have their birthday 7 days from now (so 14 days in total).What would the SQL for such a thing look like?I now have ths, but that doesnt work when you are at the beginning of a month (march 1). So there must be a more clever way :)select firstname from userswhere (month(ud.birthdate)=month(getdate())) and (month(ud.birthdate) between month(getdate())-1 and month(getdate())+1 ) and (day(ud.birthdate) between day(getdate())-7 and day(getdate())+3 )

We are running sql 2008 R2. We have the JE_DATE field set up as an int. We are trying to subtract 30 days from this date field.
select * from GENERAL_LEDGER
where JE_DATE >= DATEADD(DAY,-30,GETDATE())
In addition to the where clause above we have also tried
where JE_DATE >= DATEADD(dd,-30,GETDATE())
For both we get the following error "Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime."

I have events which require certain things be done several days before the event and things be done several days after the event. I attempted to use the DATEADD function to subtract 3 days from the event date. The SQL Statement I created did just that, but, it displays 3 days back from today's date.
There are 2 tables:
CalendarCategories -- Table
CalCategoryID -- int field
CalCategoryName -- varchar field
CalendarEvents -- Table
CalCategoryID -- int Field
Title -- varchar Field
StartDate -- DateTime Field
I have to perform some tasks 3 days before the event. So, TODAY, I want to see a listing of those events which are scheduled for 3 days FROM NOW.
This is my current SQL Statement:
SELECT DATEADD(d,-3,StartDate) AS [Update Payoffs & Ins], Title AS [Closing Description] FROM CalendarEvents WHERE datepart(dd,StartDate)=datepart(dd,getdate()) AND datepart(mm,StartDate)=datepart(mm,getdate())
This SQL Statement takes TODAY'S events and gives them a date of February 20. See example of the results at http://www.joelwilliamslaw.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=141
This is what I have already done relative to my calendar listings:
Specific Event Types for the Current Month :
SELECT StartDate AS [Date and Time], CalCategoryName AS [Cls Type], Title AS [Closing Description] FROM CalendarEvents inner join CalendarCategories
on CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = CalendarCategories.CalCategoryID
where (CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = 1 OR CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = 2 OR CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = 3 OR CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = 4 OR CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = 20) AND (datepart(mm,StartDate)=datepart(mm,getdate()) AND datepart(yy,StartDate)=datepart(yy,getdate())) AND CalendarEvents.ModuleID = 360 ORDER BY StartDate ASC
Specific Event Types for the Current Day:
SELECT StartDate AS [Date and Time], CalCategoryName AS [Cls Type], Title AS [Closing Description] FROM CalendarEvents inner join CalendarCategories
on CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = CalendarCategories.CalCategoryID
where (CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = 1 OR CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = 2 OR CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = 3 OR CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = 4 OR CalendarEvents.CalCategoryID = 20) AND (datepart(dd,StartDate)=datepart(dd,getdate()) AND datepart(mm,StartDate)=datepart(mm,getdate()) AND datepart(yy,StartDate)=datepart(yy,getdate())) AND CalendarEvents.ModuleID = 360 ORDER BY StartDate ASC
Your assistaince is much appreciated.

I have an SQL code below which removes weekends and non working days when calculating days difference between two dates:
ce.enquiry_time represents when the enquiry was logged
(DATEDIFF(dd, ce.enquiry_time, getdate()) + 1)
-(DATEDIFF(wk, ce.enquiry_time, getdate()) * 2)
-(CASE WHEN DATENAME(dw, ce.enquiry_time) = 'Sunday' THEN 1 ELSE 0 END)
-(CASE WHEN DATENAME(dw, getdate()) = 'Saturday' THEN 1 ELSE 0 END)
-(SELECT COUNT(*) FROM nonworking_day WHERE nonworking_day.nonworking_date >= ce.enquiry_time AND nonworking_day.nonworking_date < dateadd(dd,datediff(dd,0,getdate()),1))
It works but I don't understand how it works it out. I am having issues understanding each coloured piece of code and how it works together.

Club - Stores all clubs (id_club, name)
Match - Store all matches (id_club1, id_club2, dateMatch, result)
The match has club 1 and club 2.
And I Have to select all matches that clubs played with an interval less than three days between games.
This is my code:
SELECT DISTINCT a.*

Matches a
INNER JOIN
Matches b ON
[Code] ....
I tried too:
select *, DATEDIFF(day, m1.date, j2.data) from matches m1, matches m2
where abs(DATEDIFF(day, m1.dateMatch, m2.dateMatch))<3
and (m1.id_club1=m2.id_club2)
But it doesn't working. Because I have two clubs in a row. It's so difficult.

However, I would like to retrieve any records that have a transaction date greater than 30 days from the disconnect date. I have been unable to figure out the correct formula to use. Hello ,
I am little confused in writing the exact query i.e filling the correct details in the query .
To simplify let me explain....
I am using the query as
delete MYTABLE
where datediff(dd,loaddate,getdate())>5
I have a table now with loadate column which gets the default date and time . The loadate shows correct date and time when the data was imported in the table .
Now suppose if i want to delete previous 5 days records from today
( for e.g today is 20/08/2002 3:40:00 PM ) ideally it should delete all records which are 5 days older from today . i.e from 20/08/2002 3:40:00 PM to 15/08/2002 3:40:00 PM )
But when i execute the datediff command , it deletes the records previous than 15/08/2002 till 15/08/2002.
The records from 15/08/2002 to 20/08/2002 remain intact .
I am getting some different results .
Am i missing something in the query or i am confused about the calculation of the dates the datediff command performs .
Is the logic correct or i am missing someting important ?
Thanks and Regards

This is a follow on from one of my earlier threads where I was trying to return one specific record. In this case I am trying to return multiple records for the same person ID and within a number of days range. Snapshot of my date with same PersonID:
PersonID Arrival_Date Leaving_Date ArrivalID
======== ============ ============ =========
123456 01/12/2012 01/12/2013 arr_56464
123456 10/12/2012 10/12/2013 arr_56474
123456 13/12/2012 13/12/2013 arr_56494
And from this I want to check if one record's leaving date of the record is within 7 days of another record's arrival date. I also want to return the record that had a leaving date within 7 days of the next arrival date.I understand that if I self join on personID with the data above I will get 9 rows, for each row I will get 3 matches, I am using INNER JOIN to join to the same table but with a different alias so I assume this is the self join I should be using.
But then how do I process this? I would want to say for record 1 check the leaving date is within 7 days of arrival date of any other record matching that PersonId but not ArrivalID, and return both records.From my snapahot of code I would eventually want to return:
PersonID Arrival_Date Leaving_Date ArrivalID
======== ============ ============ =========
123456 10/12/2012 10/12/2013 arr_56474
123456 13/12/2012 13/12/2013 arr_56494
But can't seem to get this using a self join query like this:
select a.PersonID, a.Leaving_date,a.Arrival_Date,a.arrivalID
from arrivals a INNER JOIN arrivals b
ON b.personID = a.personID
WHERE
a.arrivalid != b.arrivalid
and DATEDIFF(DD, b.[Leaving_date], a.[Arrival_Date]) <=7
and DATEDIFF(DD, b.[Leaving_date], a.[Arrival_Date]) >=0

I have stumbled upon a sql question I cannot answer. I am looking for the following SELECT sql statement:
Basically I need a way to get "5 days ago from today". BUT, the trick is that there is a table called tblnoworkday with contains weekends and holidays and those dates cannot count. So basically what I am really trying to get is "5 Business days ago from today".
So it would basically do this for an query input date of '4/9/08'. If the table is called TblNoWorkday and contains the following records:
...
2008-04-06 00:00:00.000
2008-04-05 00:00:00.000
...
This is the last 5 business days then: (not in the table)
4/9/08
4/8/08
4/7/08
****weekend****
4/4/08
4/3/08
The query should return just 4/3/08. The problem is 4/3/08 doesn't exist in the database since the database only contains the no work days.
Any ideas on how to do this in a simple query without having to create another table with the valid working dates?
Thanks Before Hand,
Adiel
