After a recent crash, where tables had to be repaired we have been
unable to re-instate or create new merge replication from a MS SQL 2000
system. All old publications and subscriptions have been deleted. New
replications fail at the snapshot level. Anyone ideas ?

Using SQL 7.0 I'd like to replicate just schema from DB on server A to DB on server B, then be able to replicate data only form DB on server B to DB on server A. I need help!!
Thanks for ANY information you can give me... ~Jepadria
we have a server in our environment, we would like to make a copy of it on the other server in side the company and also do the same on the remote server.
Can u tell me how to do it or any sites where i can find the stratergy's which have been already implemented for review.
I have a (quite big) sql server 2000 database. I'd like to replicate the whole DB onto a 2k5 server. Then disconnect that connection, to have an independent copy on the 2k5 machine. After I made some modifications on the data on that machine, I'd like to sync those databases to have the data on the sql server 2000 as well.
Is this possible in any way (tool or API available) or must I hand code it? At the moment I do this thing by exporting to *.sql files, and then importing, but the replication/sync method would be quite nice.
I want to update Oracle table from SQL Server 7. I need to read data from a table in SQL Server and want to update Oracel table accordingly. Please help. Thnaks in advance.
We have a distributed Database in DB2 and SQL Server 2000. As the user updates/Inserts data to DB2 Database , the data need to be dynamically replicated to SQL Server. Please Let me know the best possible method of doing it. Thanks, Ravi.
Hello group,i am relatively new to SQL-Server database, but i have lots ofexperience with DB2 and Oracle Database. One of my tasks is setting upa replication between a Mysql-Database running on Linux and one of ourSQL-Servers.How do i achieve this ?If i understand the documentation correctly you have to program thereplication mechanism for yourself or you have to use some third partytool.Could anyone please outline, how to set up the replication mechanism(pointing me to some web-site should be enough) and also tell me ifthere is any third party tool. Thanks in advance and greetings from ViennaUli
Let say I've 4 server with MS SQL 2000 installed and I want all of them having the same data. So I'm using merge replication by assign one of them as publisher/distributor. The problem is when ( let say ) server that have been assign as publisher/distributor down then all the other server cannot make replication. My idea was to make it replicate to other available server ( among them ) if replication to main server failed. Is it possible ? If possible how to do it ?
How can I assign the ODBC Database(Progress) on UNIX as publisher and SQL Server as subscriber. When I use the Enterprise Manager, I cannot see the Unix Server. I just can see the server and database in DTS.
I am having two NT/SQL Server 6.5 and i tried to replicate the database on SQL Server from One Server to another Server. When i try to replicate from Server A[Publisher] to Server B[Subscriber] it is giving error on Distribution History Log on Manage Scheduled Task Dialog. The Error is like this : 08001 [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [dbnmpntw] ConnectionOpen (Createfile()).
and it is trying again and again by using retry option.
Kindly guide me by mentioning the reason for this error.
Hi.I am wondering if it is a good idea to replicate sql server db filesusing frs.I don't really know how the frs works, sodoes frs replicates the whole database from time to time or just theportion that is changed? Also if the db is expected to change very often, and wouldn't it makethe whole system down?I wonder if it's a good idea just to make a backup of the database andcopy it.What's the usual practice?
I am trying to replicate data from DB2/AS400 to SQL Server2005 (ENT edition) currently we use 3rd party tool to replicate data from DB2 to SQL Server2000 (ENT edition) and like to get rid of this 3rd party tool. I am searching for the last 3 weeks but didn€™t get a good starting point. I have linked DB2 to SQL Server2005 and can run queries against DB2/AS400 box. Now I want to set up transactional replication from DB2 to SQL Server 2005. I have read about peer to peer topologies but I don€™t know if that€™s the route I have to take?
So can someone please help me? I really appreciate your help.
I have a computer thats running XP 64 bit version. I want to replicate between SQL server 2005 and SQL server 2005 compact edition. But it doesn't works. So i looked for a solution and i came to: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912430 This page is telling me:
You cannot replicate data from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server Compact Edition by using the 64-bit version of IIS
Is that a problem that can be solved by not using a other Operating System?
Or can you maybe install a 32-bit IIS on XP 64 bit?
I have configured replication between Always ON Availability Groups  (Listener) (PUBLISHER), remote distributor to XYZ SUBSCRIBER...with above link ...
Now, I want to know how to replicate Data from XYZ SERVER a PUBLISHER to Always ON Availability Groups  (Listener) (SUBSCRIBER)? Distributor Database being on XYZEX:
XYZ SQL SERVER as PUBLISHER, and DISTRIBUTOR to Always ON Availability Groups  (Listener) SUBSCRIBER...
We have a "main" SQL 2014 server who imports XML files using SSIS in a datacenter. In remote sites (which are warehouses), there is an instance of SQL 2014 Express. A merge replication is setup, as every operations done on each site must be "forwared" to the main database, as some XML files are generated as output for an ERP system.
Now, the merge replication replicate all the data to the server on each sites. But a specific site don't need the data of every other sites, only the data relevant to itself (which is the warehouse code). Is there a way to replicate only the data relevant to each individual sites to the subscribers? Or is there a better way than replication to accomplish this?
My site works fine in VWD2008 express, but I get this error when I try to use it on my live website. An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. According to this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914277 I am supposed to:
1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2005, point to Configuration Tools, and then click SQL Server Surface Area Configuration. Ok, there is no such program in this folder. The only thing in there is "SQL Server Error and Usage Reporting"... The other thing I am greatly concerned with is this: All is want is for my webpages to be able to access my database for user authentication. I DO NOT want to grant the internet rights to remote connect to my database.
I am using ODBC to connect SQL Server 2000 + SP4 server runnig on Windows 2003 standard edition Server +SP1. But, sporadically my application server connectivity to DB fails and i receive the following error messages
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionWrite (WrapperWrite()). [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]General network error. Check your network documentation.) In D:de.cpp 702 Apr 12 2006 20:34:47 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Communication link failure) In D:de.cpp 702 Apr 12 2006 20:34:47 20071017 08:23:10 TID (00000ff0) Sev (3) Err (0) Msg (Read failure. General SQL error.
Strange thing is that i receive this error only sporadically, Please Please advice !
I get the following error and have been trying to figure out why I keep getting it. Initially, I had placed my project under wwwroot folder and ran it under IIS and it gave this error. Then I moved it to my local C drive and same thing. I am sharing this project with two other co-workers and all our config files and code files are same...they don't get this error but I do. I checked that SQL Server Client Network Utility has TCP/IP and the 'Named Pipes' enabled. I thought maybe I have setting in the Visual Studio 2005 that I'm not aware of that's causing this problem...it can't be the server since my co-workers aren't having this error and can't be anything in the code since all of us are sharing this project through vss. I dont' think using different version of .net framework can create this error. I changed the version from 2.0 to use 1.1x and it gave same error... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Could anyone help me in solving this issue.
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this I use Microsoft Windows Vista Home Professional I have already installed to my computer Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and SQL Serves Express. I used to be successful to connect to the SQL Server but now I CAN NOT.
Not: I try to run SQL Server 2005 but I can not, even I logged on to my computer with an administrator rights. On the other hand I can start and stop the SQL Server Express easily.
As a result, how can I solve this problem. Thanks in advance. Bilgin Kılıç Additional Details

I'm about to go absolutely nuts. I've tried so many things including:
1) Of course making sure Remote connections and both TCP/IP and named pipes are enabled for SQL 2005 2) Verified my connection string works. I even tested it in Enterprise Library using the tool and it connects successfully via windows authentication 3) Made sure of course my logged in user is a member of the administrator group and that my user in SQL 2005 logins has db_owner and full rights to the DB I am connecting to. I also made sure the NT AUTHORITY as well as the 3 sql service users have db_owner rights as well as the adminstrator in the SQL Server logins all have db_owner to the DB 4) Started the SQL Server Browser service, SQL Server DB engine, and SQL Server Agent 5) Made sure my site is setup right in IIS 7. I checked the connection string in there as well as it shows up in IIS7 in one of the sections. Using Windows authentication and it is enabled for my site 6) Tried running the .net site using both localhost (IIS) and also tried using the Visual Studio built-in web server. Both give this message still

When my default.aspx page loads I get this error for the connection to my SQL 2005 DB. An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) I have already gone to Surface Area Configuration to ensure that Remoting with both Named Pipes or TCP/IP is enabled and it's set to both for remoting.I verified that my local account has access to the DB.Not sure what else to check.
Is there a difference with sql replication between sql server 2005 64bit and sql server 2005 32bit? Both are on a Windows 2003 server. One is 32 bit and the other one is 64 bit. The first time I set up sql replication (test environment), it was on a 32 bit sql server. This worked fine. The second time I wanted to set up replication (live environment), it was on a 64 bit sql server. This didn't worked fine.
I can't call the sqlcesa30.dll file on the 64bit server with IIS. So I called the dll via a remote IIS server. This worked but gave me the following error when calling the following URL: http://domain/PDASYNC/sqlcesa30.dll?diag

After seeing this I looked up what ReadWriteDeleteMessageFile could mean. It appeared to be some NTFS acces problem. But when I checked the security settings, it all seemed to be ok.
Has anyone any idea what else to check? Or is sure that I must have done something wrong?
The SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) service on server started and then stopped. If i Manually start the services also SQL Server Agent services are stopping automatically.Though I selected Auto Restart SQL Server Agent if it stops unexpectedly, The services are stopping automatically.TCP/IP protocol was enabled for port 1433.Are there any setup I missed?

HelloI have just completed the first part of my first intranet project, using MS Access. Next step is to transfer it to SQL Server 2000 on a Windows 2003 Server. The ASP.NET code resides on an XP workstation.I get this error: "Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.".The connection string:Dim DbConn As New SQLConnection("Server=RDDSRV1; DataBase=Serialnrs; Integrated Security=SSPI").I have also tried the same string, with user id and password for a domain adminstrator. No difference. The database has Windows security with among others ASPNET as user (login?)I have searched throu the my own litterature and this Forum, but can´t find any answer to my problems.Hope I can get a quick anwer.Rolf Dahlström
