SQL Server Make ASP.net Load Slower At The First Time From Localhost.
Feb 16, 2004
I dont know if it's just a beginner issue.
My ASP.net project with database connection inside, I mean DataBound or whatever the name is make my website load slower because there's a delay about 8 til 9 seconds when in its first load from localhost, after the first load my ASP.net project run very fast and it just take 1 second or less to reload.
The problem will show up again after I restart my computer and trying to load my project from localhost at the first time.
How do I make my ASP.net project to load very fast with just 1 second or less at the first time from localhost?
Thanks.

Clean vista install,
Clean full office 2007plus install
Clean visual studio 2008pro install
Many failed sql 2005dev installed, did SKUUPGRADE-1
Now have office2007 Smallbiz, VS2008pro, SqlExpress and sql 2005dev installed.
Note outlook 2007 error on first run after sql2005dev.
Seams to have broken and created a new sql connection, don€™t think its the original.
but that€™s not the current issue !
web admin page error, could not connect to db
I did regsql.exe from the net dir and the web admin work and the db is created for roles and such in vs 2008 via web admin page and mssql.
Managed to create db in apps data folder and modify connection in server explorer.
Added table to aspx page from apps folder and it runs via f5, but errors under localhost.
€œCannot open user default database. Login failed.€?
€œLogin failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'€?
Have seen some reference to iis permissions, but not sure what to change?
Is it a file level permission, a virtual permission
Works in vs2008 using f5 run!
http://localhost:50115/vs2008/
Can work with apps folder db file in vs 2008 server explorer
Had to modify db connection back to sqlexpress in server explorer
Can work with db in sql management studio, have three local instances;
Pc
Pcsqlexpress
Pcsmallbiz
Can display db data in aspx page via f5 , but not localhost unless vs2008 is not running!!!
Have not been able to make vs2008, Sql2005dev, sqlexpress all work together using iis in vista via localhost and vs2008 f5 at same time??
Can€™t do anything with db in solutions explorer, but can work in server explorer if I modify connection back to sqlexpress
Can€™t display data aspx page via localhost
http://localhost/vs2008/
Cannot open user default database. Login failed.
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'
Localhost works in iis via virtual directory if I remove db grid in page or vs is not running
Could someone test and tell how to use all of these together?
What is going to happen if I get it to work local and then try to upload to shared host?
<connectionStrings>
<remove name="LocalSqlServer" />
<add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Server=wabpc;Database=VS2008test;Integrated Security=true" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
<add connectionString="Server=SQLEXPRESS;Database=Database.mdf;Integrated Security=true" name="sqlexpress" />
</connectionStrings>
If I close vs2008 and the management studio, localhost works and displays the db info!!
Open vs2008, modify connection back to sqlexpress and the aspx page breaks via localhost
Close vs2008 and local host works
Open vs2008 and get a error 25 in server explorer connection string invalid, but f5 works after the offline clears.
I change db connection back to sqlexpress to work with db in server explorer!
That breaks localhost, but f5 works
Any ideas?
Need more Tylenol

Hi,We have a C# web application that has been running for a few years now with little maintenance. Over the past few months, we have had some increasing problems.1. Loses session frequently ~ every 2-3 minutes.2. Occasionally (every 2 months) get out of memory exceptions.3. Connections to the DB and therefore the whole site run fast after restart. Gets continuously slower and slower over time until it starts throwing timeouts: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed
prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. The timeouts usually come every 3 weeks or so. Number 3 is the biggest problem for us, but I thought maybe 1 or 2 give some indication to why 3 is happening?I don't have much time to look into this now as I'm working on another project, but I was hoping that maybe someone would have ideas just looking at our symptoms.Thank you so much,Christie

I have a problem that whenever I test to run, the service load all data from source with out noticing about the data (I mean it load all the data to the destination), I do it several time and it continue to load all without checking. That mean the data is dublicated when the schedule run???
I think there should be a paramete or something like that to help the engine just load the new data to the destination. Could you help please?

I am begginner at best so I hope someone that is better can help.I have a stored procedure that updates a view that I wrote using 2cursors.(Kind of a Inner Loop) I wrote it this way Because I couldn'tdo it using reqular transact SQL.The problem is that this procedure is taking longer and longer to run.Up to 5 hours now! It is anaylizing about 30,000 records. I thinkpartly because we add new records every month. The procedure works like this. The first Cursor stores a unique account and duedate combination fromthe view.It then finds all the accts in the view that have that account duedatecombo and loads them into Cursor 2 this groups them together for datamanipulation. The accounts have to be grouped this way because aaccount can have different due dates and multiple records within eachaccount due date combo and they need to be looked at this way aslittle singular groups. Here is my procedure I hope someone can shead some light on this. Any ideas how to make reports faster when returning lots fo rows?
I know you would need to work on your sql query etc..
Or maybe cache it.
But i'm thinking of having a kind of middle tier thing that sits between your sql database and the reports itself.
Any ideas would be appreciated

hi, friends, please look at this:
I have a SSIS package, and inside it I do something like below:
1. I have a SQL component, to give back a object to store the records.
2. I have a VB script component, I direct the object I got in 1 step into the script as a dataset.
My problem is:
I run the package in the SQL SERVER 2005 Store Procedue like this:
do
dtexec.exe package.dtsx
loop untill i>t
I control the it runs 30 times. But I found that the speed is slower and slower.
the first time, it takes about 600 s, but the last time, it takes the 1800 s.
Why?
The package don't drop the object it create during the loop in the Store Procedue ?
Thanks!

Here is an odd problem (to me).
I need to measure the time between timefield_a and timefield_b. So, I used
DATEDIFF (hh, timefield_a, timefield_b)
Now, they said "Our clock starts at 7am, so even if someone enters timefield_a at 5am or 630am, I want that rounded up to 7am, so my clock doesn't start till then".
So, I've been trying to create a case statement that rounds the time up to 7am but still keeps the date in tact. No luck.
Any thoughts?

I have a CTE query that is used to fill in nulls on a history table. The With statement executes just fine. sub 2 seconds on 974 records, however the main query is what's turning the whole query into a turtle. I know that it's the looping that it's doing there that is causing the slow down, but I'm just not sure how to fix it. I've tried inserting it into a temp table, refactored the code a hundred times, but nothing seems to be working.
Code is below and the execution plan is attached.
Server Version: 12.0.2342.0
Enterprise: 64bit

I have a Visual Studio 2005 web application Front End.
The front end is basically only used as a series of links to SQL Reports.
It seems that when you first click the links to access the reports, there is a slow response time to first load the report viewer. Then after a while of accessing the page, I suppose some of the components are cached so the page loads faster.
Is there a way to automatically cache the pages or any other way to decrease response time on the report viewers?
Edit: To clarify, it first takes around 10-15 seconds to load the .aspx that contains the report viewer. Then it takes around 5-10 seconds to load the report viewer and the report. Is there any way to minimize these times? It seems to speed up the more the page is accessed, but is there a sure-fire way?

Greetings all,I am a network security professional rather than a MS SQL admin, so Iapologize in advance if this is a bit of a basic question for thislist. I also cross-posted this to microsoft.public.sqlserver.server,so sorry if anyone's read it already.I know an admin setting up a SQL server that will only beaccesible by a webserver running on the same host (not happy aboutrunning private vs publicly avaialable services on the same host , butit's what we've got). As such, I'd like to recommend to him that theSQL server only listen on the localhost ip, 127.0.0.1, thereby makingit inaccesible to the outside world. I looked around the MSknowledgebase but couldn't find a clear document stating how to dothis. Is it even possible? Is there a better option for thisconfiguration? It's been suggested that firewalling is the only option, but I'd reallylike to do *both* (firewall & bind to localhost). The firewall in thiscase will have to be host-based instead (software) instead of hardwarefor non-technical reasons, so additionally if anyone recommends asoftware firewall they use for this purpose I'd appreciate it. My firsimpulse is to recommend Tiny, but I've never used a software firewallfor an MS SQL/Web server before. Thanks,Brian

We have an extensive stress test for our OLTP application.that runs slower after upgrading to SQL Server 2005.
We have done the following:
- applied SP1 and SP2
- updated statistics (sp_updatestats)
- recompiled all stored procedures
Some behavior we notice in Perfmon over the course of the 1-hour test is:
- Average CPU Utilization is up from 22% to 32% and we're trying to figure out why
- Compilations per second are up from 200 to 250
- Recompilations per second are down from 5 to 1 (which is good).
- Memory utilization is identical.
- We see exagerated spikes in response times. The general performance
seems pretty good - but there are periodic spikes that hurt our averages.
- I examined perfmon for waits and nothing jumped out.
- A small handful of application workflows are much slower, while most are roughly identical.
I realize there could be a zillion different causes. But if anyone has experience upgrading a large OLTP solution which uses a mixture of dynamic SQL and stored procedures to SS2005 - and tuning the upgraded database - please offer any suggestions.
Our current plan includes (a) running the Best Practices analyzer which already uncovered a trace flag we may want to use since we're running on an 8-way, (b) rebuilding indexes, and (c) examine a SQL Trace this time around too since it appears the slowness is isolated to certain application workflows.
Please offer any suggestions that have worked for your team.
Thanks so much!
Mike
PS I will post all the things we end up doing in the end once we get performance equal or better - hopefully the latter!!!

Hi,
I am experiencing some problems accessing an Oracle database through
OLE DB from an MTS application using OpenWithServiceComponents (which
is supposed to give me connection pooling).
When I connect to a SQL Server database it only takes 3.1 ms to open a
connection, while with Oracle it takes 15.5 ms (both DB's running on
the same machine, I made 1000 calls and took the average).
Am I doing something wrong, am I missing something here?
I have tried to use the plain Open method, but in this case it takes
5.4 ms with SQL Server and 31.4 ms with Oracle.
Is Oracle really that much slower when accessing it through OLE DB?
Thanks for any advice/hints!

Hi,
I am surprised to see that in Business Inteligence Studio debugging mode, my packages take shorter. And when I run it through Agent on the SQL Server where data actually resides, it take around 70% longer time.
The package is now very closed to data and database engine itself, in BIDS it wasnt.
Anybody knows why this happen ? Do I need to tune up something ?
Any input in this will sincerely be appreciated.

However, since switching over, all of our Access queries on the SQL7 databases are either running extremely slowly or not at all despite the DSN's being set up correctly . Does anyone have any ideas why, and more importantly, how I can resolve this???

hi ,
I am trying to connect to my local SQL server 2005 from "Server Explorer" but it is giving the error of "Remote Connectons" not allowed.
I am using "windows authentication" login.
My SQLExpress and SQLExpress browser are running from "SQL server configuration manager".
If i use a "App.Config" file to connect to database, the SQl connection can open and i can run the stored procedure.... but cannot access the database on my local machine.
Please help.
thanks for reply.

I have set up a locahost site in IIS using the "Configure Web Synchronization Wizard". One of the first test I was asked to do was to open a broweser and browse to http://localhost/MobileTest/sqlcesa30.dll
If all is well I should get a web page with the following line:
SQL Server Mobile Server Agent 3.0
But unfortunately I get an error stating :
"The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance."
I checekd the Event log and found this error related the IIS launch process on my machine.
DCOM got error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. " and was unable to logon .IWAM_Rataq in order to run the server:
where Rataq is the name of my machine. Could my IWAM_Rataq account be corrupted, my other sites on the machine work.
Infact if i put in a Test.htm page in the virtual directory MobileTest I am able to browse to the page.
Can the Account be re-set? is there another problem that I am not aware of. I have Norton Internet 2006 running could that be the reason? Could Norton be blocking the dll from loading? But the event log states it is a Account error.
Any ideas why this might occur? any help is always appreciated

Hi -
I got through the installation hoops for SQLEXPRESS Reporting Services in Vista and set up the default configurations in Report Services Configuration. I can explore the default directory for "Reports" in IIS7, but I can't browse in IE. I get the "The report server is not responding. verify that the report server..." message in the browser. This is after I migrated the app per the initial http 500 error using the preferred method - %systemroot%system32inetservAPPCMD.exe migrate config "Default Web Site/Reports".
I'm running Vista Ultimate, VS2005, SQLEXPRESS SP2. I've tried running IE as admin and also I've disabled UAC from gpedit.msc - ...Windows SettingsSecurity SettingsLocal PolicySecurity Options and unchecking UAC.
Thanks,
Mike

how I can load the CSV file data into the sql server table. I know there are ways like bulk insert and other to load the csv file data into the table. But in my case the table doesn't exist and has to be created at the run time. With simple insert in temp table we do like select * into #temp from tablename and that creates the temp table. So. I need something like that which create the temp table and load the data into it. because the CSV file would have different number of columns and names so I can not create the table structure in advance. I have to create the table at run time.Â
