SSRS - Resetting A Subscription After A Subscription Run Failure

Feb 11, 2008

It seems to me that if a scheduled SSRS report subscription fails ( Status Message - An error has occurred during report processing) , that I actually need to delete the subscription and reconfigure it from scratch. The scheduled job doesn't try to run again automatically (say the next Monday on a weekly Monday schedule).

Is there a way to "reset" a failed subscription without have to recreate the entire subscription?

Thank you
Devon Kyle

Existing Subscription Already Contains Table Included In The New Subscription

Sep 26, 2007

SSCE_M_DUPLICATETABLE

Existing subscription already contains table included in the new subscription.

What are the possible causes of this merge replication error?
Could it be caused by a SQL Server Compact Edition User trying to sync their .sdf file after their subscription has already expired on the SQL Server?

Would you expect to see a different message if a SQL Server Compact Edition user tried to sync a subscriber database (.sdf file) with merge replication if it's been longer than the subscription retention period since their last sync?

Cannot Set Up A Subscription From Sql Server 2005

Aug 24, 2007

I have created a publication and push subscriptions from a sql server 2005 server to a sql server 2000 servers both within internal network successfully - without any hitch. The replication works fine here. Login to sql server 2000 was through the window authentication.

After that I tried to do the same but the Sql Sql Server was outside the firewall on an ISP's network. The setup for this is described below:

Sql Server 2005 (local server) is within the internal network from where data needs to be pumped into Sql Server 2000 (remote server) database which is outside the firewall. In order to access the Remote Sql Server I have also created, on the remote (sql server 2000) server a new sql server login user with dbo access to the database. The local sql server can communicate to the external server through the firewall using this user name. This has been tested because I can connect to the external database server from the Sql Server 2005 Management Studio (using sql server authentication ) and query and update the tables.

I then created a Local Publication (to transfer table data from one of the database) on the local server, which is ok. But when I try to create a push subscription from the local server to the remote server (with all the parameters assigned, including the sql server authentication users login, etc), the sql server throughs the following error message. (No subscription gets created):

***error start *************************
An error has occured while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 25 - Connection string is not valid) (Microsoft SQL server, error: 87)
***error end ************************

Can anyone there help?

P.S. A similar replication setting from another local sql server 2000 server to the same external Sql Server 2000 server has been working OK.

SQL Server Compact Subscription Problems.

Oct 18, 2007

Hi, i've been struggling with this for nearly two days now.
I have successfully setup a publication on one of our servers but am having problems getting the the subscription to work.
I am using one SQL 2005 box which is hosting the database and acting as the publisher for this database. And one IIS/6.0 that contains the virtual directory with the sqlcesa30.dll.
As mentioned the publication went ok and a snapshot was generated with no problems and can be seen on the IIS box.
When trying to set up a subscription I get the following error:-

"Synchronizing Data (Error)
Messages
A request to send data to the computer running IIS has failed. For more information, see HRESULT.
HRESULT 0x80072EE2 (28037)
The operation could not be completed."

Basically before i post to much useless info, I think the problem is this:-

Impersonation and Access Tests

Action
Status
ErrorCode

Impersonate User
SUCCESS
0x0

ReadWriteDeleteMessageFile
FAILURE
80070003

However, everything is pretty much running with Admin privileges and I've successfully done all this before with these very same boxes! I've tried just about everything, including running the IIS stuff on a different box with the same results.
Any help with this would be gratefully received.

Cheers,

Lorenzo

Unable To Create SQL Server Mobile Subscription

May 1, 2006

I have been following Creating a Mobile Application with SQL Server Mobile:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms171908.aspx

I have successfully created the snapshot.

When performing the following:

Configure the publication for Web synchronization

In SQL Server Management Studio, in Object Explorer, expand the (local) computer node.

Right-click the Replication folder, and then choose Configure Web Synchronization

There is no option when Right-clicking the Replication folder under my local server, however there IS an option for Configuring Web Synchronization on the Replication folder under SQL Server Mobile. (Unfortunately the Configure the publication for Web Synchronization is listed BEFORE the SQLServer Mobile Task, so it is pretty confusing) So, assuming this is what the author meant, I successfully configured the Web Server and the SQLMobile shows under my default web site.

When I attempt to create a Subscription under SQLServer Mobile, I get the following error:

- Synchronizing Data (Error)

Messages

Unexpected HTTP status returned. [ 415,status = ]
HRESULT 0x80004005 (28632)

The operation could not be completed.

Am I missing something? Should the web configuration be done on my local SQL Server, not the SQLServer Mobile replication directory? If so, how come I do not have that option as suggested in the directions?

I have checked and rechecked permissions. As I mentioned, the snapshot is successfully created (verified by Right-clicking the publication and viewing the snapshot agent status)

Migrated SSRS With Old Server Name In Subscription Link

Jan 16, 2008

Hi there,

Some months ago, we migrated our SQL Server Reporting services server from Server 'Alpha' to server 'Bravo'. I thought we performed all of the steps needed to accomplish this task based on various Microsoft Articles that we identified. The fact that everything has been running fine (we thought) for the last several months confirmed our belief that everything was done.

Our problem found the other day is with a report 'Subscription'. The other day, a user called me and said their subscription is coming to them fine with the report displayed, but the link to re-run the report at the bottom of the e-mailed document doesn't work. I looked at the e-mail they received and found that the link had 'http://alpha/reportserver/...' instead of 'http://bravo/reportsserver/...'. Since 'Bravo' is the name of the new server, I new something was a miss. I tried creating a new subscription to a report and the result was the same 'http://alpha/reportserver/...' I've looked high and low in the SQL Reporting services configuration and can not figure out where I missed a change from 'Alpha' to 'Bravo'.

Has anyone seen anthing like this? If you can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! - Eric-

SQL Server Replication Push Subscription Issues

Jun 21, 2007

Hi There,

I wonder if anyone has run into this problem before.

I have inherited a SQL Server 2000 box with what appears to be a push subscription set up on it. However, the original Subscription database has long since been removed, leaving that box with what is essentially an orphaned push subscription.

We are trying to remove the subscription, but do not understand how. All documentation I have found keeps insisting that this be done at the subscriber database (which is for all effective purposes, destroyed).

How do I get rid of it?

Any ideas would be dearly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re-initializing An Anonymous Subscription From The Server - Error

Aug 15, 2007

Hi,

I'm trying to force an anonymous subscription to re-intialize on it's next sync attempt. I can do this from the subscriber no problems, and from the publisher using 'Re-initalize All Subscriptions', but I can't seem to re-intialize only a single subscription from the publisher.

To do this I'm trying to execute sp_reinitmergesubscription using the subscriber details found in the sysmergesubscriptions table. This executes ok and when the subscriber starts to sync it does try to re-initialize starting with generating a new snapshot, but after processing for a while it throws the following error messages:

Error messages:
The merge process could not allocate memory for an operation; your system may be running low on virtual memory. Restart the Merge Agent. (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147198720)
Get help: http://help/MSSQL_REPL-2147198720
An error occurred while reading the .bcp data file for the 'CDP_TableDates' article. If the .bcp file is corrupt, you must regenerate the snapshot before initializing the Subscriber. (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147199428)
Get help: http://help/MSSQL_REPL-2147199428
The merge process was unable to deliver the snapshot to the Subscriber. If using Web synchronization, the merge process may have been unable to create or write to the message file. When troubleshooting, restart the synchronization with verbose history logging and specify an output file to which to write. (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147201001)

There doesn't appear to be any shortage of memory on the server. There is no problem regenerating the snapshot from the publisher, and there's no problem with syncing through the web using delta syncs or re-initializing from the subscriber, so I can't see any obvious cause from those error messages.

I'm using SQL Server 2005 SP2 on the publisher, and SQL ServerCE 3.1 on the subscriber.

Any ideas or alternatives?

Cheers

Cannot Remove Push Subscription On SQL Server 2000

Nov 29, 2006

Hi,

We have created replication from one production server to another backup server by using SQL scripts. These scripts have been generated by SQL Server after manual initial setup. When I ran these scripts they did not add the subscription for the backup server because a stored procedure were missing named something like sp_addsubscription. Therefore I ran the script on the production server and created the subscription manually on the backup server. But I made an error, I created a push subscription first but I should have created a pull subscription. Now I can't delete the push subscription. I don't even get a error message. I can't press delete and when right clicking on it I can only choose Help. The subscription has the following properties:

Type: push
Status: retrying
Last action: The process could not connect to distributor 'PSERV'
Replication type: Snapshot

Anyone know how I can delete this push subscription on my backup server?

Best,
/M

SQL Server 2008 :: SSRS - How To Detect When A Subscription Is Running Or Not

Oct 3, 2015

i just kicked off a job that starts a data driven subscription that generates ~200 excel spreadsheets.

I kind of expected them to appear in the execution log, and that the TimeEnd would reflect when they complete.

instead, it appears that the TimeEnd is when the SQLcommand finished executing, ie, a few milliseconds after the start.

it does not reflect when the report finishes completing; if i run sp_whoisactive, i see a stack of reports at a time clawing their way through the process. (ie i see calls to [CreateChunkStatement] and all the other steps a report kicks off.

Other than watching execution requests, how can i know if anything is running as far as subscriptions go?

SQL Report Server Subscription E-mail Format As MS Word

Jan 22, 2007

I am wanting to set-up a subscription to e-mail my reports in MS Word format (either .doc or .rtf) and I do not have the option on my company's report server version.

I have read that it is possible, though I don't have the option. Is this a change to report server, or maybe is our version not updated?

I can e-mail the report out in the following formats:

XML File with report data

CSV (comma delimited)

TIFF File

Acrobat (PDF) file

Web Archive (default)

Excel

Let me know if I am just expecting too much, or if there is something that needs to be updated on our report server.

Thank you,

SQL Server 2008 :: Reporting Services Migration - Subscription Jobs Did Not Get Created

Apr 23, 2013

We are moving to a new data center. We have RS install on appweb server that points to different sql server for Reportserver and Reportservertempdb. So, We created a new virtual appweb server and new physical database sql server 2008 r2 at new DC. I did a fresh install of new reporting services 2008 r2 on appweb server. I backed up and restored Reportserver and reportservertempdb dbs from old 2005 sql server to new 2008 r2 database server.

During new RS configuration, I pointed databases to the new restored databases and restored encryption keys. When launched reporting services URL, it works fine.

I stopped and restarted reporting services after configuration.

However, I am not seeing any single job created on new database server. Old server had 20 jobs.

How do I get these subscriptions back to the new install? I thought this should be created with migration and I do not have to do anything.

One odd thing I had to do during config was that:

In scale-out deployment tab in RS configuration, it was showing both the new and old appweb server name as status joined. I was unable to remove the old server name by clicking 'remove server' there. So, I deleted old server name from keys table in Reportsserver as suggested by some forums to have a clean installation. Does it have anything to do with jobs not created?

What do I need to do now to get subscripts jobs created. Ther eare only 20 jobs here but another RS server has over 800 subscriptions that I can not mess up. So, need to find the issue and correct it before I can move on to the another RS instance.

I've been having trouble configuring the Report Server e-mail delivery component to send subscription e-mails to addresses outside the domain on which the report server is hosted.

For e.g. since my local windows domain is named "smartsystems.com", I have found that the Report Manager does not have any problems sending subscription mails to "eawagu@smartsystems.com" but throws up an error whenever I include "eawagu@yahoo.com" in the recipients' list.

Any insights?

Subscription

Jul 2, 2007

Hi,

We are migrating our reporting services database from one server to another.

What needs to be done to subscriptions to ensure they work properly. Will they automatically update as part of the migration, or is there a manual process.

We are using Reporting Services 2000 and will be using Reporting services 2000 as well on the new server.

Thanks

DD Subscription

Nov 7, 2007

Hi all,
I'm creating data driven subscription for parameterized reports. I'm supposed to deliver one report to six different customers. But each customer can see only his own data in the report. This is not a problem. But the problem is I need another report in which all the data can be seen. When I create DD subsription, I chosed Auto increment option for the write mode under "

Specify delivery extension settings for Report Server FileShare" .
But then it creates seperate report for each parameter value. But it does not create the report which contains all the data for all parameter values. How can I make it without creating another report.
Also when I use overwrite option instead of Auto Increment, It creates only one reports. Does any one know why it happens?

Thanks

Replication - Subscription

May 23, 2001

Hi,
I am doing a repl.in SQL7/NT.
At time of 'Push Subscription wizard' - I used the option "Yes,Initialize the schema and data......" whereas I already had data and schema at the subscriber.
Now my question is what will happen now and how long will this process take(for approx5GB of DAta).
OR should I stop the process - it's already an hour when I started the process.
Any suggestion appreciated.

Subscription Pulls

Aug 24, 2001

I have created a subscription pull from one SQL server to another so that the database from one SQL server is replicated to another. But when the subscription runs, no data appears in the subscriber SQL server. When I check the subscription, I see that the database is connecting to the publisher but that is it. I have the login correct but what am I missing? Do the tables in the subscriber database have to be already created and matching the ones in the publisher database before the subscription runs or are they automaticaly created after the subscription runs?

Thank you in advance

Generation Of Subscription

Feb 7, 2005

Hello all,

I have a data driven subscription with the information about the file name/file extension/ path etc coming in from a database. The problem is that the subscription status after running tells me that things are done and there is no error but the file is not being generated in the specified directory and for that reason the file is not generated at all anywhere on the hard disk. can anybody please help.

The information in the database for the report is as follows

FileName : Test1
FileExtn : True
Path = \ram\C$Reports
Render_Format = PDF
Username = Administrator
Password = password
Writemode = Overwrite

All the fields are varchar(50) in size.

Is DB Publication/subscription?

Jul 26, 2004

Because of problems trying to alter databases used
for replication my software would need to find out
if a database is a publisher or was repliated (using
T-SQL). Is this possible?
