SQL Sever 2005 Management Studio - Connect As Different Windows User

I want to connect to a SQL server from my workstation using the application in the Subject, but I need to connect as a different Windows user. Basically, I login to my workstation with my "Joe User" account, but for servers I used my "Joe Admin" account for security purposes. However, the Management console autofills in my workstation username when I select "Windows authentication" for the connection, and grays out the username/password fields so that I cannot specify another set of credentials.
Is there a way to change this behavior? Otherwise I will need to termserv into a server using my administrative account, install the management software there, and then begin the process. That is a lot of unecessary overhead that I would like to avoid.
Is there a way to connect to database using Windows authentication as a different user than what you've logged in with to your desktop?
For example:
I log on to my desktop as mydomainme. I'm developing queries using Management Studio against a database (on another server) where mydomainme doesn't have access, but the admins have granted access to mydomainJobs1. I have the password for mydomainJobs1, and I'm hoping I can connect to the database using that account without having to log-off my local desktop as mydomainme and then re-login using mydomainJobs1.
The analogy in the file/share-permissions world would be using "net use" from a command prompt:
net use \SomeServer /User:mydomainJobs1 jobs1password

This server is not a production server, as only just installing - like it works fine and then just fails without warning.
I have some SQL CE database .sdf file on my handheld, and I was trying to connect to that file via SQL Server 2005 Management Studio, and it does not work. I am wondering if there is any good tool that I can use on desktop to connect to sqlce .sdf database file on my handheld?

on this forum it says to perform a ping and and an a ping a- to my server which does work.
Have been working on this for 3 days and can't figure it out. Even had a guy in New Zealand who is usually my messiah of SQL and he can't figure it out so I'll be impressed if someone knows the answer.
I will buy a crate of beer for the person who solves this for me as this problem is costing me money! Maybe even 2 if done by end of tomorrow 6pm GMT!

I would like some help in uploading a database from my harddrive to a server using sql server management studio express.
If I try to attach it to the server, this program only looks at the files on this server and not on my harddrive. So how can I copy a sql database to my folder on the server.
I am sure it must be a simple problem, but I've been bizzy with it for about a day now. So, please advice.

I am creating a windows application that is not going to be used in a controlled environment like a LAN or some other network, so I want to include a local database in the install of this app. Ideally, I would like to use SQL 2005 Express like you would MSDE or Access, but I am not sure if the user must have SQL Server installed on their machine in order for this to work and I don't have a machine without it to test on.

Can I connect to remote SQL 2005 server through SQL Server Management Studio Express? I always get a error code 18456 when I try to connect to SQL 2005 server through SQL Server Management Studio Express. I'm sure I enter correct username and password!
I just installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise edition from my company's DVD. It was installed with the setting of using both Integrated windows authenitication as well as basic named authenication. I installed all the options too: Database Engine, Analysis Services, Reporting Services, SQL Server compact edition, and Integration Services. When I look at services there are: SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, and SQL Server Browser. All of which are running. Something that took me offguard was the installation did not ask me to provide an SA password. Other than that, the install looked like it went good.
I was able to connect to the local instance of the SQL Server 2005 using the SQL Server Management Studio. I could connect with SA, or connect with Integrated Windows Authenication. Whoohoo. Off and running! As a matter of fact, for the SA account I could use any password and it would still log me in.
First thing I did was I went in to the copy wizard to attempt to copy a database from a server on our network to my local box. First it asked me for the remote server. Then when I specified my local instance in the wizard, the wizard complained that my local instance was NOT SQL Server 2005. Doh! This I didn't understand. I figured maybe I need to check for MS updates. Sure enough, I found that ther was a SP2 and then a hot-fix for that SP2. I applied both. Now I cannot connect from SQL Server Management studio to my local instance of SQL Server 2005 database server. I get the following error:

I can connect to other SQL Server databases on our network. However, just not my local one. No one on the network can connect to me either.
I even turned off my windows firewall and still no luck connecting to my own.
So something really went wrong when I applied SP2, however, admittedly from the error message when I tried to use the copy wizard, something was probably already wrong.
I've seen the following error posted when people try to connect to their server via their applications but didn't see anyone having problems when trying to connect with SQL Server Management Studio Express. On my home machine without permanent network connections enabled, I cannot get the Management Studio connect to the database server. Always get this error:

I have used the SQL Surface Area Configuration Tool to reset the defaults to allow remote connections, stopped and restarted the server, but still get the same message.
I have a brand new install of sql server 2005 on brand new WINDOWS SERVER2003 with latest versions. Every thing works fine excepting I get a 404 when I connect to report server from management studio..
all work fine on local machine and with in the network behind the fire wall.
But when I try to connect to report server using management studio on the local server or remote server, I get the following error.

I have a question about opening files in the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Studio.
In the old Query Analyzer from SQL 2000 I can open SQL Files via drag & drop (from explorer to QA) or open it with a double click in the explorer. Then the Files opened, if I had actual a connection to a server / database (QA is stared with one file and has a connection to Server/Datebase), with this connection.
Now in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Studio I'll be asked everytime for Server and have to get the database from the database list - it does not connect automaticly to server/database, that is actual connected (I have opened a file with the connection and a connected database in the object explorer).
Someone do not have this problem - but we found no option to set it up.

I am having a very frustrating problem trying to connect to a remote SQL Server 2005 at my ISP. When I try to connect through Management Studio the ISP SQL Server returns an error of 'Login failed for user xxx (18456)'.
According to the ISP they can see my connection attempt in their logs.
However, I can access the same SQL Server through Visual Studio, and UDL files using exactly the same credentials.
The ISP have given up, and this is driving me crazy!
I will be very, very grateful for any help or suggestions.
I can connect to my SQLEXPRESS on the same box when I use the default connection, but when I specify TCP/IP in the Network Protocol, I get the dreaded (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error:26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified).
I can access the port with telnet and I can run "SQLCMD -S TCP:<servername>SQLEXPRESS,1433 -U username -P password -q"Select * from <table>" and they both work fine.
Ultiimately my goal is to connect via IIS and PHP, but that is failing right now and I figure it'll keep failing until I can connect Management Studio using TCP.
I can also run the SQLCMD from my other box when the firewall is shutdown. I'm out of ideas? Any thoughts?

I believe the problem is the server has ASP 1.1 and ASP 2.0 installed and Management Studio is trying to use ASP 1.1 (see highlight section). If I go into IIS and disable ASP 1.1 I get an 404 error when trying to connect to Management Studio. Is there a way to force Management Studio to use ASP 2.0? I can't uninstall ASP 1.1 because this is a dev server and other apps use ASP 1.1.
I am currently looged into the OS (windows xp pro,belongs to domian ABC) as user vdm. I have connected to VPN for a client and would now like to connect to their sql server database using sql server management studio. This sql server installation is on a remote domain called XYZ.
When I open sql server studio and select windows authentication, my local domain ABC is selected and greyed out...I would like to change this to XYZ domain...how to achieve this ?

Hi, I am using Windows vista ultimate 32 bit. I installed SQL Server 2005 developer edition on my machine it installed ok but i cant open sql management studio. I have just installed SQL Server 2005 and SP2. but didnt get it working. I dont have any SQL Server Express or visual studio installed on the machine. I can see an icon of sql management studio in the programms menu When i try to open sql management studio it gives me an error saying "Progarm is closing" and it closes the whole SQL Server. I recently upgraded from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005. I have Oracle databases I need to share data with. I was using the Heterogeneous Services (hsodbc) from Oracle and connected to SS 2000 fine. Since I've upgraded, I can't use hsodbc to connect to my SS 2005 database. I get the following error:
