SQL Sever 2005 Write XML Data Stored In A Table Out To A XML File On My Local Machine

Hello All

Just wondered if someone could help me with a bit of T-SQL, i have a application in ASP.NET/VB that allows the user to update a message board by clicking a button "update" this in turn triggers my Stored Procedure for inserting this data into a table, which works great.

It inserts the data into its respective fields and also takes The Title, Line 1, Line 2 and so on and creates a XML file (Using FOR XML) which is stored in the same Table under a column call XML_Data. Which again works great.

My problem now is how do i output this XML_Data to an actual XML file that is on my local machine, i.e. It be created in say C:Inetpubwwwrootxmlfiles("xml file name inserted here from another column that holds xml file name").xml

Any help on this would be greatfully apreciated

I am trying to use a new Excel microsoft add-in using SQL server 2005. I installed the 180 day trial version of SQL Server 2005 on my local machine and according to the instructions it was suppose to be very easy to connect the excel add in to SQL. I am receiving an error message which I cannot find a resolution to using the readme file and wonder if you can help.

ERROR MESSAGE
Unable to connect to server 'localhost'. Please make sure user 'ARTIMUS' has at least read permission to some database on the server.

Backing Online Database Table Data To Local Machine

I have an online SQL Server database provided by an ISP. I do not havepermission to create a backup device and I understand this is normalpractice.I am not using Enterprise Manager to administer the online database.I know I can back up the structure of the database using SQLscripts.My question is:How do I back up on my own machine the data contained in the onlinedatabase tables I have created? If I were using Enterprise Manager Icould do it by downloading tables using the DTS facility but how can Ido it without Enterprise Manager?Is there some work around which I have missed eg creating a csv fileof the data?Best wishes for 2005 to all those helpful people in this newsgroup!John Morgan

SQL Sever 2000 And 2005 On Same Machine

Hi, I am trying to create a connection string that will connect to a SQL Server 2005 Registration on a remote machine. I have a SQL Server 2000 registration (installed) on the same machine and so I think there may be a conflict. The SQL 2005 registration is denoted as HARDYSQL5 and the 2000 registration is merely HARDY (the machine name). I need to connect to a database on the HARDYSQL5 registration but I am not connecting. I have tried various connection strings but none have worked. I get a Login failure. I think this is red herring because I doubt its even finding the database.I can connect to the 2000 db with:"Server=HARDY;Database=Perimeter;UID=use;pwd=example;" But its fails with the following, for example:"Server=HARDYSQL5;Database=Perimeter;UID=use;pwd=example;" "Server=HARDYSQL5;Database=HARDYSQL5Perimeter;UID=use;pwd=example;" "Server=HARDY;Database=SQL5Perimeter;UID=use;pwd=example;" I'm gon go nuts. Installing SQL Server 2005 On Same Machine As An Existing SQL Sever 2000 Instance

Given than once SQL Server 2005 is installed, SQL Server Studio has to
be used instead of Enterprise manager, can both SQL 2000 and 2005 be
used on the same machine, be it development or production? (The second
one to be installed probably would be a named instance.)
Any experiance of doing this or a pointer to a Microsoft recommendation would be appreciated.

Hi, i wondered if anyone could help me with my stored procedure.
It updates a table with users messageboard and saves the Title, Line 1, Line 2 and so on into a XML thats stored in the column named XML_Data.

How can i then output this xml to a file on my local machine?

Write Data From A SQL Server Table Into An Excel File

Hi,

I need to export data from a table of SQL server 2000 database, into an Excel 2000 sheet. I tried following query from the sql query analyzer

Code SnippetSELECT * INTO [Excel 4.0;Database=F:ew.xls].[sheet1] FROM tab1

It gave me following error

Code SnippetServer: Msg 2760, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Specified owner name 'Excel 4.0;Database=F:ew.xls' either does not exist or you do not have permission to use it.

The F:ew.xls file is present and it has no additional security applied, hence I think it should be writable.

Please tell me where am I doing wrong.

I have enterprise version software CD1 and CD2 of SQL server 2005

when i try to run setup.exe..the following error pops -up

The image file Setup.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine

MY OS version is windows 2003 32bit Operating system...

I am suspecting the binarie may be of 64bit.. How do we check the binaries are 32 bit and 64 bit software

I want to check a table to see what rows have been updated today, then write to a text file some data from the selected rows; then I want to automate this (DTS package? TSQL stored procedure job?) to run every night at midnight. Is the DTS Wizard the best way, that's what I did, but have not confirmed that it is writing a new text file every day, and does each new version write over the old one?

Foreach Loop Read Table Data And Write To File

Hi,

I want to do the following with a ssis package:

INPUT:
A table contains 2 columns with data i need. column A=Filename and column B=FileContent

PROCESS:
I need to loop through ea record in the table and retrieve columns A and B. Then for ea column i need to write the Content hold in column B into File hold in column A.

I so far found out, that i need a Execute SQL Task in Control Flow querying the table and get columns A and B into 2 variables, plus a 3rd var holding the object. Then the output goes into a Foreach Loop Container. From this point i don't know how to continue. I tried to put a Data Flow Task inside the Foreach Loop, but couldn't find out how i now get the 2 variables to the Data Flow Task and use them to for the file to be written and the content to be placed in the file.

Is there any example similiar to that so i could learn how to start on that?

Sql 2005 SR2 Cannot Log Into Sample Database On Local Machine... Error Attached

I downloaded the SR2 - major mistake Now I cannot get into the sample databases I have on my machine. I can attach to the Servers, but they have SR1 and now I guess if I would make changes from my SR2, then they will be screwed up.

My error when I try to log into my machine (adventure works) is:

I am on an XP Pro 32-bit laptop, running SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition. I want to import an Excel spreadsheet into one of my databases using (formerly known as) DTS. The Excel spreadsheet was created in 2003 (I have Office 2007 installed on this laptop). Whenever I try and do any OleDb import, I get the error:

I cannot install/reinstall MDAC because I have the latest version. What else can I try?

As additional information, I also get the error when trying to import anything into or export anything out of Access 2007. I'm pretty sure MDAC is awful, but I still need OleDb providers for much of the work I am doing.

dear all experts plz kindly give me ur help! i have a table in sql server 2005 and exported it to oracle successfully. i hv no porblem with the following query:

select * from table1

however, when i try to select a specific field from this table, for example:

select cust_name from table1

i fail to do so and it give me an error message that '

OLE DB provider "XXXXXXX" for linked server "(null)" returned message "ORA-00904: "cust_name": invalid identifier".

and the probelm is not just this field, but for every single field that i try to select. can anyone plz help?

I tried to backup the master key by the following syntax :

OPEN MASTER KEY DECRYPTION BY PASSWORD = 'mypassword'

BACKUP MASTER KEY TO FILE = 'c: empmaster' ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD = 'mypassword'

but it failed and i got the following message:

Cannot write into file 'c: empmaster'. Verify that you have write permissions, that the file path is valid, and that the file does not already exist.

NB: I am using the "sa" user to execute this command.

I know that we have a security permission issue , but where and how ?

As you could see, the report needs a chr(0) at the end of each line, thats why I spent a lot of time learning clr/sql, but when I finally success in crate the assembly an procedure in sql 2005 it gives me this frustrating error:

Any easy way for a batch file or automated process to read from one db and table and what ever entry is missing out of another database + table it writes those missing entries to.

This is a simple table in one db that is filled with usernames, I want to see if there are missing usernames in another db and table and write those entries.

db1.usr_table.usr_name = jdoenew
If jdoenew is missing in the 2nd db I will need to write entries like:
db1.usr_table.usr_name = jdoenew
db1.usr_table.password = tmppassword
db1.usr_table.active = 1
