SQL Statement Executes In Mngmt Studio, Doesn't In Integration Services
Oct 24, 2007
I have an T-SQL statement that runs in under 4 minutes on the Management Studio, and freezes forever in Integration Services. The statement ran fine before in both places, as well, but now I'm running on x64 OS with everything 64 bits including SQL.
The statement is this:
DECLARE @data datetime
set @data = DATEADD(DAY,-1,DATEADD(YEAR,-1, GETDATE()))
INSERT INTO TempDateModelo (Data) (SELECT Data FROM [tPosting Date] a WHERE a.Data>=@data)
UPDATE fModelo SET [Vendas MM Anterior]=
(SELECT SUM(b.[Custo Vendas]) FROM fValues b WHERE (b.[Posting Date] BETWEEN DATEADD(YEAR,-1,DATEADD(DAY,-27,fModelo.[Posting Date])) AND DATEADD(YEAR,-1,fModelo.[Posting Date])) AND b.[Item Department]=fModelo.[Item Department] AND b.[Centro Custo]=fModelo.[Centro Custo])
UPDATE fModelo SET [Vendas MM Posterior]=
(SELECT SUM(b.[Custo Vendas]) FROM fValues b WHERE (b.[Posting Date] BETWEEN DATEADD(YEAR,-1,fModelo.[Posting Date]) AND DATEADD(YEAR,-1,DATEADD(DAY,27,fModelo.[Posting Date]))) AND b.[Item Department]=fModelo.[Item Department] AND b.[Centro Custo]=fModelo.[Centro Custo])
UPDATE fModelo SET Dia = DATEPART(DAY, [Posting Date]), Mes = MONTH([Posting Date])
I must be doing some daft thing-In Management Studio Express I have Northwind, Pubs and a db of myown.I can create SQL select queries and get results back fine but when Itry to do an insert, update or delete I get the message: (1 row(s)affected) - making me think all has gone well, however, when I refreshand look at the relevant table nothing has changed.Any tips?ps In learning the basics of SQL server, vs.net, javascript andvbscript I am often encoutnering a problem that halts me for fivehours or so but has an obvious solution 'if you know how'- I supposethis is the difference learning on your own vs in an officeenvironment- "Pete, how do you...?". I am trying to create abeneficial application under my own steam and with limited resources-are there any other sources of internet support I might not know aboutbut could use to get quick answers to sticky techie questions?D
I have an SSIS package that successfully runs a Teradata connection query. However, when I schedule the job to run in the SQL Server Agent I get the following error:
Executed as user: SERVER_NAMEAdministrator. Microsoft (R) SQL Server Execute Package Utility Version 11.0.2100.60 for 64-bit Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Started: 7:53:26 AM Error: 2015-06-08 07:53:26.78 Code: 0x00000216 Source: Package1 Connection manager "Teradata"
[Code] ....
Why would a connection work in SSIS but not in a scheduled SQL Server Agent job?
We are running 2014 enterprise. I noticed recently that my spreadsheet's column A, while not being used by user, doesn't show up in excel source preview. F1 is column B and so on.
I have a sequence container with 2 task into. If one of the tasks alert a failure then the sequence container should alert a failure too, but it doesn't. For testing I forced the error with setting the attribute ForceExecutionResult to Failure for one of the tasks. The task fails, but the sequence container succeeds.
I tried:
- changed the Precedence Constraints from AND to OR between the 2 tasks into the sequence container - changed the attribute FailPackageOnFailure setting True - changed the attribute FailParentOnFailure setting True
I am trying to load a simple Excel file into a Database table and the SSIS Package is not loading any records beyond 3233 records. I am just surprised. I tried using the "IMEX=1" mentioned in some of the online resources but it didn't work. I am using an Excel Source, a Data Conversion Transformation and an OLEDB Destination in my package in SQL Server 2014 (which is pretty simple and straightforward). The Excel file I am trying to load can be found here.
And, here is my table structure.
CREATE TABLE [gov].[loan_limits]( [FIPS_State_Code] [varchar](3) NOT NULL, [FIPS_County_Code] [varchar](3) NOT NULL, [County_Name] [varchar](50) NOT NULL, [State] [varchar](2) NOT NULL, [CBSA_Number] [varchar](6) NOT NULL,
I have a Connection manager to an Excel workbook. I've set it up as Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 Excel 8.0;HDR=NoWhen I create the DataFlow OLE DB source, the Name of Table or View dropdown shows only 3 items:
Resources$ Resources$_ and Volumes$_
My workbook has 2 tabs (Resources and Volumes; Volumes is hidden), two named ranges of the same name (Resources and Volumes) and a bunch of other named ranges.
Why does the drop down only show these three things, and only the first one (the first tab Resources$) actually works.
The other two give a nasty message (0xC02020E8 Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap)
I created a simple SSIS package that takes a Flat File Source (CSV file) and Imports it into a OLE DB Destination ([TestCSVImport].dbo.Table1). I have other CSV files I'd like to import, but I don't want to import entries where column "ordereID" (PK) are the equal. Just want to import the new data found in the CSV files. I tried adding a Lookup in-between the Flat File Source and the OLE DB Destination, but I'm not sure how to accomplish only importing new data.
I'm trying to put together an SSIS package that will look in one directory for 2 distinctly named .csv files. The files will then be loaded into 2 tables.
The first task I execute is a SQL Task that checks to see if the tables I'm loading the data into are empty. If the tables have data, the package stops executing. If they are empty, the package continues to execute.
What is the best way to send an email out from SSIS if the package stops on the first step?
I am using Visual Studio 2005 SP1, SQL Server Developers Edition, Both installed recently and updated completely on an XP SP2 workstation (again all updates installed, the necessary ones at least) The issue I am having is when I try to load a solution for Integration services an error message box appears with the following:
An error prevented the view from loading. (Microsoft Visual Studio)
===================================
The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E) (System.Windows.Forms)
This issue was of course occurring before the reinstall of both Visual Studio and SQL Server DE. The issue also extends to creating new projects, in which I am not able to...so the frustration is a little high at the moment, any help would be great...
I wanted to create a SSIS catalog and the way to create a catalog is to right click on "Integration Services Catalogs" node and select "Create Catalog" option.
However, I am not able to see the "Integration Services Catalogs" node in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) as shown in the following image.
What is missing so that I can see this node in SSMS?
FYI, I have SQL Server 2014 (Developer edition) and Integration Services 12.0 installed on my machine.
ProductVersion = 12.0.2269.0 (SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('productversion') AS ProductVersion)
I created an ODBC to Lotus notes server and database. This ODBC connection works, however, when I put the ODBC into SSIS and test the connection my visual studio 2010 crashes and has to restart. Is there a fix I am missing on my VS2010? Or am I doing something wrong in my SSIS project?
I have all this gray space at the top of my tasks. When I <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Left-click> to select all of my tasks and then try sliding it up, it creates even more gray space and actually moves it down. If instead when I <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Left-click> and then <Ctrl>+<Arrow-up> it doesn't move it. Is there any easy way to eliminate all this gray space at the top?
I'll go to a dataset, open up the query designer, add a new parameter, then refresh the fields, but the parameter won't be added as a report parameter. If I go to the dataset properties under the list of parameters, the value in the dropdown will be blank. However, sometimes this will automatically add.
Is this a bug in Visual Studio? How do I get around this?
I've used the Balanced Data Distributor with Visual Studio 2010 and SQL Server 2012 successfully. I've now installed BIDS 2013 and I'm trying to get the Balanced Data Distributor to appear again in the SSIS Toolbox.
I've installed the x86 and x64 version and it won't appear. I've tried the new version which is supposed to have a fix for some SQL Server 2008 issues but I get the message:
The installation is not successful. Check the following prerequisites: 1. Either Integration Services or BIDS has to be installed. 2. The version of these components has to be either SQL Server 2008 SP2 (or future SPs) or SQL Server 2008 R2 (or future SPs).
That seems this version only works for SQL Server 2008.
Basically i'm trying to create an SSIS workflow to download Sharepoint List data to SQL Server on a schedule of some kind.do we actually have to use the GAC install approach in order to get the Sharepoint List Destination and Sharepoint List Source entries to appear on the SSIS Project workflow entities?
I am running a DTS Package.I have a temp table with 1494 records. I am inserting a 'Y' or'N'into a temp table #HasClaims. The TempTable name with the Provider Id's(PRPR_ID) is#TempFACETSNODupesThe @identityID is an identity field counting back from 1494 to 1I count back from the Max value of the identityid (1494) in the Whileloop until I get through all the records. The idea is to check for theexistance of a claims and authorization record and put a 'Y' or 'N'record in the temptable #HasClaims. This is running in the Execute SQL Task object of the DTS Package. The Package runs successfully but only inserts 200 rows into the newtemp table. There should be a row for each provider. Each time itruns, the number of rows it returns is different. Sometimes it is 205,then 185, then 210, before it completes the DTS package.Has anyone run into While looping problems within an Execute SQL taskin a DTS package(SQL 2000)like this--------------------------------------------------------------SELECT @identityID = MAX(IDENTITYID) FROM #TempFACETSNODupesWhile @identityID >= 1BEGIN@PRPRID is the placeholder for the PRPR_ID (Provider)SELECT @PRPRID = PRPR_ID FROM #TempFACETSNODupes WHERE IDENTITYID =@identityIDIF exists( SELECT CLCL_ID FROM dbo.CMC_CLCL_CLAIM CLCL WHERECLCL.PRPR_ID = @PRPRID)BEGININSERT INTO #HasClaims (PRPR_ID, HasClaims, IdentityID)VALUES( @PRPRID, 'Y', @identityID)ENDELSE INSERT INTO #HasClaims (PRPR_ID, HasClaims, IdentityID)VALUES( @PRPRID, 'N', @identityID)------------------------------------------------------------SELECT @identityID = @identityID - 1END
Our project is on SSIS 2012 and we are using the project deployment model. We have parameter the connection managers, created environments, environment variables and configured the references. Hence, when we deploy the solution to higher environments, the connection strings are picked from the environments and not the ones stored in the connection manager.
However, we face issues when in development environment, we need to run the same package but by entering the values manually in the connection manager. Even though the connection details are correct, when we execute the package from Visual Studio, SSIS is not able to connect to the database. Is there any way to have SSIS prompt for the connection details after we have click on "Execute Task" or "Start" from Visual Studio?
I have an SSIS package in which I need to include a derived column. I've done derived columns a ton when there is just one condition being "tested". In this case there are two. I have the following update statement for a table I'm inserting data into:
UPDATE STAGING_DIM_AR_INVOICE SET SC_CODE = ( CASE WHEN REC_TYPE = 'P' AND SC_CODE IS NULL THEN 'ag' WHEN REC_TYPE = 'I' AND SC_CODE IS NULL THEN 'OL'
[Code] ....
I'd like to be able to address this case on the load itself. I've used CONDITIONAL before, but not sure how that would work in this case. I'm trying to keep it as "simple" as possible.
I apologize for the long post but I am trying to give as much information as I can about the steps I've taken to troubleshoot this.
We have a stored procedure that builds a sql statement and executes it using the Execute command. When I execute the stored procedure through query analyzer it takes close to 5 seconds to execute. When I print out the exact same statement and execute it directly in query analyzer as "raw sql", it takes 0.5 seconds - meaning it takes 10 times longer for the code to execute in the stored proc. I altered the stored proc to execute the printed sql instead of building but it still takes the full 5 seconds and there were no changes in the execution plan. This makes me confident that the issue is not caused by the dynamic sql. I've used with recompile to make sure that the stored procedure caches the most recent execution plan. When I compare the execution plans, the stored proc uses a nested loop whereas the raw sql statement uses a hash join. Seeing that, I added the hash hint to the stored proc and doing so brought down the execution time down from 5 secs to 2 secs but still the raw sql statement uses a clustered index whereas the stored proc uses a non-clustered index and that makes the statement 4 times slower. This proves how efficient clustered indexes are over non-clustered ones, but it doesn't help me since, as far as I know, I can't force SQL Server to use the clustered index.
Does anyone know why sql server is generating such an inefficient execution plan for the stored proc compared to the execution plan that it generates when executing the raw sql statement? The only thing I can think of is that some stats are not updated and that somehow throws off the stored proc. But then again, shouldn't it affect the raw sql statement?
I am using a OLE DB source task and i want to setup a parameter in the select statement. Is this possible and how would this be done. I know you can pass a parameter in the where clause like:
select id, lname, fname, startDate, endDate from Employee where id = ?
How would i set startDate and endDate as parameters as i would like to be able to change these parameters when running the package. I would like to set dates in the select statement as parameters like how you would in the where clause.
Select id, lname, fname, ? startDate, ? endDate, from employee where id = ?
I would like to be able to change these dates without having to go in to the package and hard code it back in there and then deploy.
The package uses a OLE DB source to Flatfile Destination.
CASE WHEN [MAIN_GAME] IS NULL AND combo.[CAT_PRODUCT] ='25' THEN 'Standalone' WHEN [MAIN_GAME] IS NULL AND combo.[CAT_PRODUCT] <> '25' THEN 'No main game' ELSE LOWER(prod.[TX_PRODUCT_NAME]) END AS [TX_MAIN_GAME]
I have visual studio 2005 and sql server 2005 with integration service installed on my machine. Couple of days ago, I installed visual studio 2008 professional. When I go to create SSIS project I dont see it in visual studio 2008. What do I have to do to make it appear in visual studio 2008 so that I can create SSIS projects.
How do I pass a single column of values from a successful merge join to an EXECUTE SQL statement so it can be used with an "IN" criteria of the WHERE clause? Here's an example of my update statement with two random key values:
UPDATE dbo.MyTable SET MyStatus = 1 WHERE MyPK IN ("XYZ123", "DEF890")
Is this even possible in SSIS, or am I better off using a loop and running the update EXECUTE SQL Statement for each individual key value, as in the following example?
UPDATE dbo.MyTable SET MyStatus = 1 WHERE MyPK = "XYZ123" UPDATE dbo.MyTable SET MyStatus = 1 WHERE MyPK = "DEF890"
To start Business Intelligence Development Studio, We need to go to the Start menu > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 > Business Intelligence Development Studio.
But when I go thru the procedure mentioned above, it gives me the following message. "Missing ShortCut, Windows is searching for devenv.exe. Please locate if u know the location".
