SQL Tools :: Missing Audits Folder From 2014?

Jul 3, 2015

I'm learning how to use audits in SQL Server 2014, but when I opened the Security folder there was no Audits folder inside. I did a bit of research and I found out that auditing is a feature in all editions of SQL Server 2012 onwards so I should have the Audits folder in order to create a new audit. There doesn't seem to be many posts like this online because the only posts I found about missing audit folders were about SQL Server 2008 (which doesn't include auditing in the standard version).

Nov 25, 2007

I have installed SQL Server 2005 on Windows Server 2003 Standard SP1. THe SAMPLES folder within the C:/Program Files/Microsoft SQL Server/90 folder is missing. I installed SQL Server 2005 SP2 thinking that this might create the SAMPLES folder, but it didn't get created.

Please let me know what should I do to create it. Thanks in advance.

Sql Server 2005 Maintenance Plans Folder Missing

Aug 10, 2007

I've seen a few threads on this which seem to suppose the problem is on Express edition rather than Standard edition. Not so here.
This is definitely Standard edition, SP3 as seen by running
SELECT CONVERT(char(20), SERVERPROPERTY('Edition'))
SELECT CONVERT(char(20), SERVERPROPERTY('ProductLevel'))
In SSMS
Under the Management folder there is no "Maintenance Plans" folder.
There IS a "Maintenance Plans" folder under the Legacy Folder.
I have another instance which is Standard and SP1 which looks just fine.

Missing Permission To Create Datasource, New Folder, Add Security..etc

Jun 20, 2007

I have windows 2003 reporting services 2005 that has been working fine. Now all of a sudden when I go to http://localhost/reports I am unable to assign security to folders(the link is hidden) the New data source button is hidden, the new folder button is hidden, upload folder and report builder are also hidden. I am logged in as aministrator.

Also when I connect to reporting services through SQL Mgmt Studio I have the same issue, there are no options for permissions only a general option.

I'm sure it's a permissions issue but what do i do to resolve?

Thx

ForEach File In Folder - Missing From Dropdown List

Jun 28, 2007

I'm working through the SSIS tutorial, and am on lesson 2.
This says
"Double-click Foreach File in Folder to reopen the Foreach Loop Editor.

Click Collection.

On the Collection page, select Foreach File Enumerator."

The drop down only contains

foreach ado enumerator
foreach ado.net schema_rowset.enumerator
foreach from variable.enumerator
foreach nodelist.enumerator
foreach smo.enumerator

How do I get the "foreach file in folder" to appear in the drop down list?

SQL Server Express 2008 - Missing Client Tools / Management Studio / Profiler

Dec 13, 2007

I downloaded and performed a full install of SQL Server Express 2008 Nov CTP. It was installed on a fresh installation of Windows Vista Enterprise x64.

During setup, I checked the 'Client Tools' box which has the description:
"Includes management and development tools: SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Configuration Manager, SQL Server Profiler, and Database Engine Tuning Advisor"

The installation ran fine with no errors. After install I looked for the Management Studio but couldnt find it anywhere. No SQL Server Profiler or Database Tuning Advisor either. The only tool that appears to have installed is the SQL Server Configuration Manager.

If I check my Start Menu, the only 2008 items that exist are

SQL Server Admin 2014 :: Check If UNC Path Exists (It Is Folder - Not File)

usual way to check if file exists

DECLARE @File_Exists INT
EXEC Master.dbo.xp_fileexist 'serverBSQL_Backupfile.bak', @File_Exists OUT
print @File_Exists
1

And if check folder, can use "nul", but it doesn't work for UNC path

DECLARE @File_Exists INT
EXEC Master.dbo.xp_fileexist 'serverBSQL_Backupul', @File_Exists OUT
print @File_Exists
0

If use xp_subdirs like:

EXEC master.dbo.xp_subdirs 'serverBSQL_Backups'

If the folder doesn't exists, Msg 22006, Level 16, State 1, Line 3 xp_subdirs could not access 'ServerBSQL_Backups*.*': FindFirstFile() returned error 67, 'The network name cannot be found.'

how to check if UNC folder exists in Backup? in my code I want to check if the unc folder exists before doing backup, the unc path is retrieved from other table or backup history.

SQL Tools :: Index Was Outside Bounds Of Array SSMS 2014 SP1

Nov 3, 2015

I am getting an intermittent problem with executing queries on my workstation. Whenever I execute a couple of store procedures that return a large numbers of rows (200,000 to 500,000 rows) I receive an intermittent error message when running the same sp with the same parameters sometimes the procedure runs fine and returns the result, sometimes I get an error message

Error message is: Index was outside the bounds of the array.

Sometimes

Error message is: Internal connection fatal error.

Sometimes I get a datetime overflow

I also occasionally get these intermittent messages when I execute the native query that the SP wraps.

I have SSMS 2015 SP1 installed on my workstation, the servers are a range of server from 2008 R2 SP2 to 2014 SP1.  It feels like a client problem as there are applications connecting to these servers and running the stored procedures without issue...

SQL 2012 :: Code That Audits All Logins To Production

Jul 2, 2015

So I'm using the 2012 SSMS to connect to a SQL 2008 database, upon which we have code that audits all SQL logins to production and notifies us via email that someone is using logins they shouldn't. Mostly it's to notify us if people other than the DBAs are using these logins from their desktops instead of using their windows accounts.

This morning I opened up SSMS 2012, logged into my production servers in Object Explorer using Windows Auth. An hour later, I had to update an exception table, so I opened a new query with SQL Auth and used a SQL-only login it. Immediately the email pops that someone on my desktop is using a SQL Login. That's okay. That's expected.

What I didn't expect is that after I closed the query window, the email kept popping. The query window isn't even open / connected to production any more, but SQL still thinks I'm logged in using a SQL Login instead of with Windows Authentication (which is what I used on the Object Explorer connection).

Is there a bug with 2012 that causes a new connection type to affect all current connections? I.E., did it change my DB Windows Auth connection to SQL Auth on the other connection?

How can I make this work without an extra step moving the data to the local server? Because that would cause extra administration.

SQL Server 2014 :: Send CSV File With DB Sendmail - Missing Records

May 19, 2015

I am trying to send a csv file with 15000 records via the database mail in SQL Server 2014. The problem is that when I open my email the csv only contains 209 records. I have tried the same thing in SQL Server 2012 and it works as expected - it sends the 15000 records in the csv.

I have tested this on several sql servers with 2014 edition on them, and I have the same issue on all of them. The query breaks off at different points on each sever - for example one of them breaks off at 209 records as i said above, another one at 307. The last record always gets truncated at the same place. The csv attachment size it's about 64 kb - which is well below the 4MB limit i've configured the database Maximum File Size bytes parameter.

What i am doing basically is creating a job that is meant to execute a stored procedure and send the results in a csv in an email. The stored procedure is something like:

select col1, col2, col3
from table A1

where col1 > 1000 order by col1

A1G7232015-05-14 13:33:35.407

A1G7262015-05-14 14:29:18.050
A1G7272015-05-14 15:38:12.263

But I know there is one more record that falls into 05/15/2015

A1G7282015-05-15 12:26:52.807

Can you see what I am missing in my query in order for me to retrieve the missing record A1G728?

SQL Server 2014 :: Linked Server To File Folder Security

Dec 8, 2013

Here is my Problem:

1. I have sql 2008 R2 running on my LocalHost.
2. Created Data Base [Customer].
3. Created Linked Server [CUSTOMERLINK] USING Microsoft Jet 4.0 to link to Drive F:Data which has DBF files in it.
4. Create dbo.Customer_Upload Table.
5. INSERT INTO [Customer].[dbo].[Customer_UpLoad]
([Name],[Email])
SELECT
NAME,EMAIL
FROM [CUSTOMERLINK]...[CUS]

All this works fine. I can even put it in to an After Insert Trigger on another table and it works.

My problem is that I need this to work in a scheduled job.

F:Data is just a folder with files in it.

This info is from a Restaurant POS system and I need to update it every night.

I have tried every which way to to setup the security issue as there isn't any login security on the folder and SqlServerAgent wants security.

SQL Server 2014 :: Loop And Query CSV Files In Folder Using Union All Query To Form Resultant Table On Server?

Jun 27, 2014

I am trying to run a UNION ALL query in SQL SERVER 2014 on multiple large CSV files - the result of which i want to get into a table in SQL Server. below is the query which works in MSAccess but not on SQL Server 2014:

SELECT * INTO tbl_ALLCOMBINED FROM OPENROWSET
(
'Microsoft.JET.OLEDB.4.0' , 'Text;Database=D:DownloadsCSV;HDR=YES',
'SELECT t.*, (substring(t.[week],3,4))*1 as iYEAR,
''SPAIN'' as [sCOUNTRY], ''EURO'' as [sCHAR],

[Code] ....

What i need is:

1] to create the resultant tbl_ALLCOMBINED table

2] transform this table using PIVOT command with following transformation as shown below:

PAGEFIELD: set on Level = 'Item'
COLUMNFIELD: Sale_Week (showing 1 to 52 numbers for columns)
ROWFIELD: sCOUNTRY, sCHAR, CATEGORY, MANUFACTURER, BRAND, DESCRIPTION, EAN (in this order)
DATAFIELD: 'Sale Value with Innovation'

3] Can the transformed form show columnfields >255 columns i.e. if i want to show all KPI values in datafield?

P.S: the CSV's contain the same number of columns and datatype but the columns are >100, so i dont think it will be feasible to use a stored proc to create a table specifying that number of columns.

After reading the above message, i close visual web developer, stop the website in IIS and stop the SQLExpress service on the server and try again but still get the same message.

SSIS Or SQl Agent Job Moving From A Network Folder To A Sharepoint Folder - Errors...

Oct 31, 2007

Ok,

I have a network folder called A

I have a SharePoint (2007) Document Library site called B. Web Client is enabled on the server and B is mapped as a Drive (let's call it Y for this discussion)

I want to move documents in A to B. Easy enough, right? Not so....

I first started by creating a batch file that issues a COPY \A \Y /Y at the command prompt. Viola! Worked Great!

I then moved that command to a SQL Agent job as a CMDExec statement (exact same statement) and attempted to run it.....CRASH! It found the files in A but then said "The system cannot find the path specified"

Ok, so I tried it in SSIS. CRASH! Checked the error log. Same thing...

So I then checked the account under which the SQl Agent was running (special domain account for all our SQL Servers). Thinking it might mater I changed it to run under my name (I'm in Domain admin). I also ensured I had permissions to the SPS 2007 library as well. (I did).

Ran again! CRASH! Same error....

So, I created a batch file , placed thec ommand in the batch file and ran that from the command prompt! Viola! Worked Great.

So, I was thinking of how ingenious I was as I pasted my C:RootCopy.bat into my SQL Agent job. With a big grin on my face I right clicked and picked "Start Job at step".......CRASH! Same error.

Does anyone have any ideas on this ???????????????

Thanks,
Stephen

Design Tools / Sql Server Mgt Tools Cause Login Fail

Sep 20, 2007

Login failed for user 'TOSHIBA-USERASPNET'
I know that the file persmission for the web application have to include aspnet, so i keep resetting the folder permission for aspnet in file manager, but the login failed keeps coming back every day or two
problem is after working with VS05 Pro, SQL Server Management Studio CTP, somehow the aspnet persmission get changed, use alot of sqldatasource wizards and often there is a conflict/hang between the datasource wizard and the need to have the mdf in a dettached state within VS server explorer,
not sure but the procedure to fix this seems to be to reboot, detach and re-attach the mdf in the Sql server Studio tool, re-apply the aspnet file permission on the web app folders (wonder should i be doing this in IIS instead), make sure the mdf within server explorer is detached, the it works
anyway, getting real tired of the resulting delays and design time derailment, clues greatly appreciated, thanks
sometimes i can use View in Browser when in VS05 form view and i wont get the aspnet folder permission error and other times i do.
last thing, is it a bad idea to give aspnet full permission for the entire web applicaiton??
