I got this message from sql "Server was unable to process request. ---> A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.) " Does anyone know what happen? Thanks
I've exported surface area configuration settings from a server and tried importing them onto another server. The remote connection settings are imported but the SQLBrowser service remains Disabled. Am I doing something wrong?
The command line command I ran (in the C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Shared directory) is "sac.exe in sacconfig.xml".
Hi. When I try to start a package manually clicking the Start Debugging button I get this after a little while:
Cannot process request because the process (3880) has exited. (Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration)
How can I prevent this from happening? This happens every time I want to start the package and every time the process id is different. Here it is 3880.
On Windows XP systems I get the following issue when trying to browse the MSDB folder in SSIS
Client unable to establish connection Encryption not supported on SQL Server. (Microsoft SQL Native Client)
I have noticed another post where several others have noticed the same issue. It appears to only occur on Windows XP installations. Is there a workaround or fix for this?
I am trying to pass in a query through reporting services where part of the query string is an <A HREF= "Http:// ......... URL string. Before any kind of execution can occur I get the error mentioned in the title.
I have tried to research this and find suggestions if it was my own .net code but how to turn it off in reporting services? The URL is valid and this is a controlled environment so I am not particularly worried about somebody using this as an exploit.
I am having trouble logging into my sql server from an asp application using SQLOLEDB.
I am running XP, IIS5 and SQL Svr 2000 on my developement machine. I am able to log into the database using localhost/application.
When I port the code and database over to the server (Server 2003, IIS6, SQL Svr 2000), I am unable to connection using the actual url of the site.
I set the login up on the logins for the database manager along with password (using multi, not Windows authentication). Added that user to the database security logins, giving it dbo, srvr admin, etc. Like I said, works on my dev machine.
The SQLOLEDB request is Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=(local);User ID=UID;Password=PWD;Initial Catalog=DBName.
I set the database up as a System DSN in ODBC, using SQL Server Authentication. The connection tests out just fine.
When I attempt to connect, I get an ADO message indicating that the user id that I supplied could not sign in to the server.
This is driving me nuts.
Does anyone out there have any ideas as to what I have missed on the server vs local developement machine?
I have been investigating the number of connections activeinactive to a certain database server and I have stumbled across an application which seems to not be clearing its database connections. For one instance of a client there was >70 sql connections which eventuated from the closing and reopening one 1 screen in the culprut app. Once the application was closed all of the connections are recycled but its evident that within the application itself it is not correctly reusing already existing open connections.
I have raised a point with the main programmer that we need to investigate more into how the application is managingot managing its ADO .NET connections to SQL.
I am starting with doing some reading here URL... and I was hoping to get some more information about the possible impact of excessive sql connections on the SQL Server itself. Our organization is quite lucky in that our SQl Servers are Overspecced given their workload, bearing that in mind I would like to dig a bit deeper to get some stats if I can to highlight the scope of the issue to the managementprogrammers. Our SQL server peaks at 6500 processes and a good 70% of those are due to this applications mis-management of its sql connections.
Is there any short way to make the server give out IDs of all clientprocesses connected to a specified DB? I guess this information mustbe stored somewhere in system databases...
I have been getting this message in the event viwer and my SQL server goes down. I have to go and start the service once again. Can somebody throw some light as how to solve this problem?
I am attempting to set up an always on cluster on VMware for testing. setting up everything through the Failover cluster is fine, the trouble comes when I try to set up the AlwaysOn availability group. Whenever I attempt to specify a network location I receive the following error: Operating System Error 1265(The system cannot contact a domain controller to service the authentication request..).
I looked up this error and most sites point towards a Windows 8 homegroup issue. Since this is a on a domain, I don't think it is relevant. I also added the service accounts from server A to Server B and visa versa. I even added the computer objects to its opposite partner..I have attempted to use "Join Only" and do a manual copy.
Installing MSDE (SP3) on a clean updated Win-XP system with all the latest fixes installed unsuccesfully. A clean systems means a fresh installed Win-XP, updated all using webupdate. And Excel 2003 installed. Thats all (not even AntiVirus (yet))
Hi, Could anyone tell me why I am not able to kill processes even with kill spid. I had scheduled some db backups through DB Maintenance. All of them are running for days together when I tried to kill them spid. It still does not get killed. Can anyone tell me why
I'm having a problem killing a process in SQL 7.0. I have a spid that has been around for a couple of weeks! I try to remove that process by right clicking and selecting 'Kill Process' but nothing happens. The process originated when I deleted large amounts of data from a logging table. NOw I can not remove the process. I'm concerned that this might indicate the database is getting corrupted. Any suggestions?
"Windows could not start the SQL Server (RETAIL) service on local computer."
"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
I am trying to start my SQL Server service and I get the above error. I am using Windows 7 32 bit. SQL 2008 R2 32bit. SQL has ran successfully for 2 years on this machine until a power outage the other night. Now I have this happening on two computers.
I have read every event viewer message up and down and searched Google for hours trying to find a solution. I have done so many things from changing dll's to reinstalling sql 2008 to trying sql 2012.
I uninstalled SQL2008 and installed SQL2012 and it had the exact same error message. It wont start that one process. I have read this forum and I see many instances of this issue being reported but none of them have been recent. I attempted to do everything the previous posts said to try and nothing has worked. I have tried to roll back using windows restore point, I have tried to change the servicespipetimeline registry edit in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControl. I have changed permissions.
I am getting this error during Merge Replication "Unable to synchronize the row because the row was updated by a different process outside of replication."
I could not reproduce this error in my development enviornment, can anyone tell me what is cause of the above error and how do I reproduce this error in my development machine? I am able to get which is outside process?
The Conflict Type is 10 for above error which is logged into Conflict Table.
I have written Custom delivery extension, I am trying to debug this by attching the process ReportingServicesService.exe , I am getting error "Unable to Attach to the Process.Access is denied". I am Admin on my sytem, ASP.net is also part of admin and debuggers group. I am using Visual studio 2005, reporting services 2005, ReportingServicesService.exe is also under my login
Here are the error messages: Enterprise Manager: A connection could not be established to SERVERNAME - Client unable to establish connection ConnectionOpen (CreateFile())
Query Analyzer: Unable to connect to server ServerName Server Msg 67, Level 16, State 1 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Client unable to establish connection
I can't register any other new servers, even ones in my workgroup. I'm connecting using named pipes, but have also tried using TCP/IP setting it up using Client Network Utility.
When i log on to another machine using my network login - I can connect.
There have been no problems connecting in the past and I haven't changed anything on my machine - any ideas???
We have a clustered server. When i create DTS packages in the secondary server I can get all the connection. But when i create DTS package that has connection to other servers. I am getting the follwing error. So my jobs that runs the DTS packages are failing.
Error Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for sql server
Error Description: Client Unable to establish connection. Connectionopen(createfile())
I deleted all the entries in the Client network utility and recreated with ip addresses and TCP/IP protocol.
Added all the ip addresses to Lmhosts and host files.
I have a Visual C# WinForms app which I am accessing a SQL Server 2005 database with. On the Server, I have allowed remote connections (TCP and named pipes) and enable SQL Browser as per instructions on MSDN. The app works fine on the development machine.
Server name is <machine name>SQLEXPRESS, connecting with Windows Authentication. Server log states that it is listening on [ 'any' <ipv4> 3153]. Server named pipe provider is ready to accept connection on [ \.pipeMSSQL$SQLEXPRESSsqlquery ].
On the client (local network), when trying to open the database I get this error still:
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
Also on the client, I can go into the ODBC Data Source Administation, and connect to the SQL Server Database that way successfully.
What further steps can I take to allow the client to access the SQL Server?
I have SQL Server 2005 installed and functioning (it does everything I've asked it to do locally). I also have the Express and Standard Editions installed on a computer running WinXPPro SP2 with all the WinUpdates applied. I also have VS2005 installed on this computer. I've done some development work on this computer, using VS2005 to create a SQLDB, connect to it, add data, etc. This is all okay.
The problem is I cannot connect to the SQL Server from the client computer. I installed the client tools on this XP Pro box along with all the WinUpdates. Here's what I can do...
I can ping the SQL Server by name (the name gets resolved). I can copy files between the two computers using Explorer. I enabled "Allow remote connections to this server" in the Server Properties / Connections page. I did not change the default port of 1433. The TCP/IP protocal is enabled in the Configuration Manager. The Surface Area has been configured to allow local and remote connections using TCP/IP and named pipes. SQLBrowser surface is running as is the MSSQLSERVER service.
So what's going on? I am new to SQL Server to it may be something very simple / obvious.
Please help! I cannot debug CLR procs remotely. Whenever I try to start debugging in VS2005 I get the error: Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Could not attach to SQL Server process on .... I have clr enabled set to 1 and I have Allow SQLCLR Debugging set on. But I continue to get this error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
HELP! I'm new to SQL Server and I'm sure this is a simple problem. But I can't seem to solve it. Here's the problem: My website & MS SQL 2000 Server are being hosted by Networksolutions. Thru the Client Enterprise Manager I am Unable to create a New Table. This is the error message I get: " [MS Design Tools]-ODBC error: [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL SERVER DRIVER] [SQL SERVER] SELECT permission denied on object 'sysobjects', database 'namedb', owner'db' "

As long as the output file is written to the local client, it completes successfully. But after changing the UNC path to another server with or without fully qualified names it is unable to open BCP host data-file. (sample shown below) ----------------------------------------------------------------- DECLARE @FileNamevarchar(2000), @bcpCommandvarchar(2000)
SET @FileName =REPLACE('\stladminy_drive ransfer maffrandauthors_'+CONVERT(char(8),GETDATE(),1)+'.txt','/','-')
SET @bcpCommand ='bcp "SELECT * FROM FKIAcctReceivable.dbo.PurchaseOrder" queryout "' SET @bcpCommand =@bcpCommand + @FileName + '" -T -c'
EXEC master..xp_cmdshell @bcpCommand
--------------------------------------------------- xp_cmdshell has been enabled and the user has sysadmin rights.
Anybody have the same problem and willing to help?

When you display a SQL Reporting Services report to the screen in the header there is a Printer Icon displayed. When we click this icon we get an error message "Unable to load client print control ".
Does anyone know what we need to load or what we need to do to resolve this so that we can print the report directly to teh printer, rather than having ot prinnt the web page, which also prints all the Web headre information
The client was unable to reuse a session with SPID 94, which had been reset for conection pooling. This error may have been caused by an earlier operation failing. Check the error logs for failed operations immediately before this error message.
SPID varies.
Anybody that knows anything why this error occurs?
I was hoping someone had this problem and has a solution... :)
Some background info:
SQL 2005 Enterprise x64
Windows 2003 R2 x64 Enterprise (clustered)
Oracle client 10.2.0.3 (latest as of 2/2/07)
The issue I'm having is I have a link server setup within SQL 2005 connecting to a Oracle 8 database server. The Oracle client I'm using is 10.2.0.3 (latest version from Oracle). From the SQL 2005 server I'm able to query the remote oracle server through the link server I had setup if I query the table directly. If I perform a query to a view on the Oracle server I'm able to see the colum names, but not the data. This only happens when I'm using the Oracle client, if I use the MS client for Oracle it works fine OR if I use SQL Plus.
Now, you're probally asking, why not just use MS's driver... Well, I would If I could, but Microsoft hasn't provided a 64 bit driver for Oracle which I need to create the link server in SQL.
Here is my problem: I have SQLEXPRESS running with Windows Authentication on a "server" PC named "ASUS1", and I need to connect from a "client" PC named "Presario1", user "Mauro", connected through a peer network (I use a cross-over cable); both PCs belongs to the same workgroup named "RMT-WORK", and they can see each others shared folders without problems.
I have installed the connectivity components + Management Studio Express on Presario1, and enabled named pipes and TCP/IP protocols; then I've got SQL Browser running. I have also added the Login "Guest" on ASUS1SQLEXPRESS.
When I start Management Studio Express on Presario1 and browse for servers I can select "ASUS1" as database engine but when I try to connect I receive "Error 40: could not open a connection to SQL Server" (same result using SQLCMD); I have tried to add on ASUS1SQLEXPRESS a user "Presario1Mauro" with "CREATE LOGIN [Presario1Mauro] FROM WINDOWS" but I receive a "Windows user not found" error...
We are unable to connect with Client SQL database server using VPN connection, even we are able connect with their intranet site.
We tried to connect using IP address, but no success. After that tried to ping that server with server name and IP address using command prompt, but got request time out error.
