SQLVDI.DLL File - Looking For Version 2000.85.2102.0
Apr 23, 2008
One of our server administrators was told by a software supplier that we needed the above .dll (the exact version specified) to get a shadowcopy program to work (??!!). Anyway, there is a SQL 2005 hotfix that you can request which says that it contains this dll (SQLServer2005-KB936305-x86-ENU). I unpacked it, but couldnt find the correct version in any of the cabs, so I set up a vanilla SQL 2005 install, service packed it and added this hot fix - guess what? the dll is there, but version 2000.85.2004.0.
I am at the end of my tether - can someone point me to a download location where I can get this file please?
Many thanks

I've inherited a SQL 2005 Server with SP2 installed that throws this error whenever it's backed up via EMC Insignia's Retrospect 7.5:
Source: SQLVDI
Event ID: 1
SQLVDI: Loc=IdentifySQLServer. Desc=MSSQL$DATALIBRARY1. ErrorCode=(1060)The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
. Process=4788. Thread=4672. Client. Instance=DATALIBRARY1. VD=.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
---------------
As far as I can tell, the name should be DATALIBRARY, not DATALIBRARY1. Is there a way to change that reference without having to uninstall / reinstall?
Thanks,
- Al

I wanted to prevent ntbackup from locking my databases during the nightly backup, so I excluded the ...Data folder from the backup set. However, I think that ntbackup is backing up the databases during the volume shadow copy phase of the backup, even though their folder was excluded from the backup set (I verified this setting in the .bks file). Although the lock only lasts a few seconds, the error message is worrisome and I would prefer to skip the databases completely. How can I stop the volume shadow copy from doing this?

SQL Query Analyzer 8.00.194.
Do we need to upgrade to later version?
If we do, what kind of problem/effect we may have?
Will it make any difference of SQL Server performance?
Please give your opinion.

We are moving all databases from a SQL version 7 server to a version 2000server. Which of the following is the preferred method?1) Detach the DB on the version 7 server, move it to the new server viaWindows Explorer and reattach it there.2) Use SQL Enterprise Mananger with the DTS Export Wizard to "copy objects &data between SQL server databases" from the version 7 server to the 2000server.With the changing of the version, I thought maybe option 2 is best. I just installed 2005 and accepted all the defaults to upgrade the default instance of 2000 as prompted. However, when I open the SQL Server Mgnt Studio, my server shows 8.0.2039 as the version which is 2000, and I can't restore a backup from another 2005 server, because it gives an error message like it still thinks its 2000. The whole installation process went fine including sp1. I looked in Services to see if there was more than one instance of SQL Server, and there isn't. Also, all my database files are still in the old 2000 (mssqldata) directory. Any ideas, solutions? Thanks.

I have kind of an urgent need here. I need to know if there is a dll file or registry key or something of that nature that I can query on to find out if my SQL 2000 installations are Enterprise or Standard.
I understand I can do this using query analyser, but that will not work with my reporting tool (this is for reporting numbers of SQL installations in our very large enterprise for Microsoft license compliance).
Thanks for any guidance!!

Hi,
is it possible to change the installed version on a server from SQL 2000 Standard Edition to SQL 2000 Developer Edition?
The server has been a production server and is now only used for testing by development, not from end users.

I know this is old database but when I download this evaluation from microsoft website, I got problem installing it. First, I unzip it. By default, it is unzip to C:SQLEVAL. Then, I went to install it. I don't which file I should click. So, I double click the autorun file. When I did that, there is a screen, I saw the screen saying "microsoft SQL Server 2000 Evaluation version". Then, I click "SQL Server 2000 Components"
Then, it comes to next page, and I click "Install Database Server". But after I did that, nothing happens! After I click again the same thing all over again, it says "Another instance of setup is already running".
I'm using Window XP Professional. Anyone encounter this problem before? I tried to re-download the file and reinstall but also the same problem. Really need help. Thanks.

I'm trying to rebuild from a meltdown. I'm using disk backup files. I have an application broadly deployed
(about 10 computers). As of yesterday, two of these computers are
unable to start the application, and failing with the error below. All
other computers run the application just fine.
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or
assembly 'ADODB, Version=7.0.3300.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot
find the file specified.
File name: 'ADODB, Version=7.0.3300.0,
Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'
I checked and ADODB.dll version 7.0.3300.0 is in the GAC in the deployment target machines.
I find ADODB.dll in my C:Program FilesMicrosoft.NETPrimary Interop
Assemblies folder (development computer), but this is version
7.10.3077.0 (file properties version)
I see ADODB.dll as a project reference, but this shows version
7.0.3300.0, and shows the path to the PIA folder. I have no clue why
these are not showing the same version number. Local Copy is false.
Installing MDAC 2.8 on the failing deployment target machines did not help.
Any clues or ideas or things to try??

I am a freelance programmer and just picked up a client that has an instance of SQL Server. I just need to know if the Developer edition (I've seen it as low as $49) will function adequately for me to test the application I'm writing.
The test environment will be 2 PC's, 'A' running the server and 'B' the one I'm writing the software on. I need to configure comp 'A' to mirror the client's WAN and how various client's comps will access the database with the application I'm writing on comp 'B'. I don't need a full-blown liscense for the database, as I won't be keeping it after production is finished. I just need one I can connect to and configure for development testing without having to develope the software on-site.

We just upgraded our applications from VS 2005 to VS 2008 and discovered we had to convert our SQL Server CE databases. So I did that. I then included the sqlce...35.dlls in the application directory on my test computer as well as the System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll version 3.5.
sqlceca35.dll
sqlcecompact35.dll
sqlceer35EN.dll
sqlceme35.dll
sqlceoledb35.dll
sqlceqp35.dll
sqlcese35.dll
When I run the app and it tries to load the System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll I get the following error:
System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version 3.5.0.0...or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference.
We have the application targeting the .NET Framework 2.0 and need to keep it that way for awhile.
Any ideas on how to resolve the error?

Hi all,
ISSUE:
====================
In SQL 2005 (sp2) I get the following error when preforming a bulk
insert with an associated xml format file:
"Could not bulk insert. Unknown version of format file"
Question:
====================
I am unsure what they mean by "unknown version". Specifically the
format file in question was created using bcp. Also the entire table
scenario was created from a msdn example.
Any ideas? have you seen this before?
NOTE: i can reproduce this issue outside the example but will refer to
msdn considering it is simple and easily reproducible.
Scenario
====================
I can reproduce this error with the BULK INSERT example discussed on
msdn (example A)
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191234.aspx
TO REPRODUCE:
* In short the table structure is:
Person (Age int, FirstName varchar(20), LastName varchar(30))
* Data File Template:
Age<tab>Firstname<tab>Lastname<return>
* xml file format from bcp (and described on msdn)
<?xml version="1.0"?>

<COLUMN SOURCE="3" NAME="lastname" xsi:type="SQLVARYCHAR"/>

</BCPFORMAT>
* Here is some the actual sql statement that pulls this all together
BULK INSERT mytestnames
FROM 'C:datatestexampledata-c.Dat'
WITH (FORMATFILE = 'C:datatestexamplefmt.Fmt');
Thanks in advanced for any feedback.

Hi all,
Since some analysis services features are only available in Enterprise version , I have to upgrade my SQL 2005 server from standard edition to enterpise edition.
So I uninstall originial standard version of analysis service and install a Enterprise version. However, the analysis service is still a standard version after installation.
Is it possible to keep data engine as standard version and install a enterprise version of analysis service?
Thank you very much

Hello,I have been searching and reading a lots of information on the microsoft website about the different version of SQL server, but still can not make my decision.In term of performance, is there a real big difference between the workgroup and the standard version? The workgroup is limited to 3 GB of RAM while the standard is unlimited, would that really change the performance if my server has 16Gb or RAM?The price difference is pretty substantial so if could only have to buy the workgroup , it would be better.One more question, regarding the type of licence, my server has 2 processors, could I avoid buying 2 licences and get the Server plus CAL instead. I am using this server to host 4 web-application running on SQL server. Each database is about 15 MB.Thanks in adavance for your advises.Arno
