SQl Express 2005 Suppoerts For Send Emails Using Stored Porcedures

Hello to all,
Can anybody please tell is SQl express 2005 suppoerts for send emails using stored porcedures?
I have a job that emails out shipment notifications at the end of the day to our customers. The problem I have is I don't understand why the same email is sending out twice within a minute of each other when the job is only scheduled to run once. If I take the code out of the step and run it in management studio it only emails once. I attached the code for one customer for reference. We are running SQL 2008 on a VM sending to an exchange 2010 server.
DECLARE @tableHTML NVARCHAR(MAX) ;
SET @tableHTML =N'<H1>XYZ Company ASN For ' + CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 101) + ' </H1>' +
N'<table border="1">' +
N'<tr><th>Vendor</th><th>Delivery Date</th>' +
N'<th>Purchase Order Number</th><th>Item Number</th><th>Item Description</th>' +
N'<th>Quantity Shipped</th><th>UOM</th><th>BOL Number</th>'
[code]....
I am running RS 2012 installation and everything worked until few days ago. Now the subscriptions would not even run. When I configure new ones, after the time passes, there is not error message, not even a sign it ran.

There is a stored proc sp_send_dbmail but the formatting is not very good.
We have a rather large query that takes time to run between each data-driven instance. Is there a way to only send out the first email after the last subscription has finished processing? Any advanced input on data-driven subscriptions .
View 0 Replies View RelatedI was tasked with witing a stored procedure to send out emails based on certain criteria. One of our developers decided to take care of the criteria in another process and pass variables for me to use. I am not quite sure how to go about this, but below is what I started with. I declared his variables, and then set up a couple of my own for the email subject line and text.
create PROCEDURE [dbo].[SendWelcomeEmails]
AS
BEGIN
-- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from
-- interfering with SELECT statements.
SET NOCOUNT ON;
[Code] ....
Do I need to use a cursor or can I just specify using if, then else? Also not sure where to SET the individual subject lines.
I have been using database mail for quite a few years now. I started using it with SQL Server 2005 and then it worked fine. Then we went over to SQL 2012 and the problems started. At first I could not get any e-mails out and read a post by Microsoft that a patch needs to come out but not available yet. That was in 2012. Presumably the patch came out with windows updates and my DB Mail started working. Now, however, I have the problem that some e-mails do get sent but the majority failed.
I use this so that whenever a user captures certain data to update a person's status on the database then an automatic e-mail will be sent to that person to inform them of their status at this company.
I have a set of results based on a query that displays a learner, their workplace assessor and both their email addresses.
I want to send a standard request email (using db_mail) to each learner's email address which specifies who their individual assessor is and their current employer. One per learner.
I then want to email each assessor and in this email detail their learners (and their employer details) that I have emailed the request too.
Hello,I have a question on what is the best way to send mail form my asp.net 2.0 application stored in sql2005 express:In one of my tables I have a DateField which contains a certain date. When the current date is within 1 hour of the stored date I would like to send an email.How should I implement this? I.e. writing code that opens a page every x time and perform a query that checks the date and send an email from there? Not the best way I guess..Or, using something like triggers. Or, using the SQl2005 mail component? I hope some of you experts can point me in the right direction.Many thanks already!

If match, extract matching records for that Category from Both Tables (Categories.CategoryID, Products.ProductName, Products.QuantityPerUnit) and e-mail them based on E-Mail Address from Parent (Categories ) Table. If no E-Mail Address is listed, do not create output file. In this instance Category Id = 3.Basically I want to select 1st record from Parent Table (Here is Category) and search for all matching Products in Products Table. My Tables are in SQL 2005. I was thinking to read the Category records in a Data Reader and within the While Loop, call a SP to retrieve the matching records from Products Table. If matching records found, call System SP_Mail to send the E-mail. The drawback with that for every category records (Within While Loop) I need to call my SP to get Products Data. Will be OVERKILL? Ideally I would like extract my records with one call to a SP. Is there any way I can run a while loop inside the SP and extract Child Data based on Parent Record? Any Help or sample URL, Tutorial Page will be appreciated. Thanks
I presently have a Access macro that emails conditionals in a report to users in web format HTML. I would like to turn that into a stored procedure, but having some difficutly can anyone out there assit me please??
View 1 Replies View RelatedHi there,
I am looking for a way to have SQL server accept incomming e-mails and store the contents of the e-mail into the database. I was doing some research on the subject of recieving emails from a SMTP server with the server having an account, but it looks like there are no information on the subject.
Is this possible? Or do I have to use some sort of work around hack?
Thanks in Advance,

We have the need to be able to send emails from our SQL 2005 server with the from address field determined at run time from a table. What are my options? We are running a clustered SQL 2005 x64 standard edition on Win 2003 Enterprise x64.
1. Database Mail - with all the hoopla about how nice it is to have a proper SMTP mailer in SQL, it still seems to lack this functionailty. IMHO a HUGE miss.
2. sp_send_cdosysmail - We used this when we had a SQL 2000 on W2K and it worked just fine. On our current environment, the stored procedure works for a period of time and then suddenly and out of no where we see this message in its log files:
CDO.Configuration.1 - A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed. sp_OAGetErrorInfo for sp_OASetPropery sendusing
After which no emails are sent until I restart the SQL Server service. We have tried both the sendusing method of 1 (local pickup) as well as 2 (remote SMTP server) and both are exhibiting the same behavior.
What other options do we have?
Alex.

Please help and advise.

More Information for you to know:
I have the "ssmsExpressDB" database in the Database Expolorer of VB 2005 Express. But I do not know how to get the SqlConnection and the SqlDataAdapter into the Form1. I do not know how to get the Fill Method implemented properly.
I try to learn "Working with SELECT Statement in a Stored Procedure" for printing the 6 rows that are selected - they are not parameterized.
Is it possible to create and use stored procedures in SQL 2005 Express? As noted by someone else in an earlier post, you can right-click the stored procedures folder, get a template, code a stored procedure, and save it to a project file. However, whereas the earlier thread suggested that one could save the sp to the database by clicking !Execute, this does not work for me and I can find no other obvious way to make the sp accessible to my code-behind procs. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am building a Visual Web Developer site with a SQL Server 2005 Express backend. I am trying to create the login page, I have written a stored procedure that takes in the username and password and returns a value which indicates whether the user is valid or not.
My problem now is integrating this stored procedure into the page. In Visual Studio 2003 you could just drag and drop the stored procedure from the Database Explorer window and it would create the neccessary SQLCommand which you can then pass parameters too and recieve return values, i.e:
sqlcommand1.Paramters[ "@username" ].value = TextUsername.Text;
sqlcommand1.Paramters[ "@password" ].value = TextPassword.Text;
sqlConnection1.Open();
sqlCommand1.ExecuteNonQuery();
Int Result = (int)sqlcommand.Parameters["@returnvalue"].value;
sqlConnection1.Close();
I see in VWD there are SqlDataSource's etc, is this what I need to use to do what I'm looking for and how do they exactly work? Ideally what I'm looking for is when a user clicks login, the contents of the 'username' and 'password' text boxes are queried against the database. What controls and configuration is required to achieve this?
Many thanks in advance,
Mervski
Dear All,
I am using SQL 2005 Express, and i need to Encrypt all my Stored Procedure while deploying in my Production Server.
Help me out to do.
Could somebody tell me how do we create a .NET Stored Procedure in Sql Server 2005 Express Edition and deploy and debug it against the database from Visual Studio 2005 or Visual Web Developer? Can some one also let me know which approach is faster among .NET stored procedure or T-SQL stored procedure?

Hello,
Is it possible to send message from SQL Server Express to Applications using it on different machines ?
For example When an important record is inserted or updated, a message appears on Application user's screen.
If yes then how ?

Hi,
as I'm relatively new to Sql Server Express, I have a few questions regarding best practices for data handling.
In my ASP.net Application I thought it might be of high value to create the database as mdf file in my vs2005 project,
so I could easily copy the database with the project.
Now inside VS2005 I have the problem of not being able to create any SQL Statements other than queries. For example simple create table statements and such seem not to be possible if I don't want to use the designer.
So I attached the mdf file to my Sql Server Express in Sql Management Studio Express.
But here I seem not be able to detach the file again when I made some changes. Only option is to delete the whole thing.
So my questions are:
1. Is it somehow possible to send simple sql statements to a sql server express database from Visual Studio 2005?
2. How can I detach an mdf database file from Sql Server Express once I have attached it with Sql Management Studio Express?
3. Should I use a different approach to my problem?
thank you all in advance

Hi all,
I tried to use the "How to call a Parameterterized Stored Procedure by Using ADO.NET and Visual Basic.NET" in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308049 to learn "Use DataReader to Return Rows and Parameter" in my VB 2005 Express. I did the following things:
1) created a stored procedure "pubsTestProc1.sql" in my SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE):
USE pubs
GO
Create Procedure TestProcedure
(
@au_idIN varchar (11),
@numTitlesOUT Integer OUTPUT
)
As
select A.au_fname, A.au_lname, T.title
from authors as A join titleauthor as TA on
A.au_id=TA.au_id
join titles as T
on T.title_id=TA.title_id
where A.au_id=@au_idIN
set @numTitlesOUT = @@Rowcount
return (5)
2) created a project "pubsTestProc1.vb" in my VB 2005 Express and copied the following code from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308049 (i.e. Added the code to the Form_Load eventQL_Client) :
Imports System.Data
Imports System.Data.Client
Imports System.Data.SqlType
Imports System.Data.Odbc
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Dim PubsConn As SqlConnection = New SqlConnection & _

Dim testCMD As SqlCommand = New SqlCommand & _
("TestProcedure", PubsConn)

auIDIN.Value = "213-46-8915"
PubsConn.Open()
Dim myReader As SqlDataReader = testCMD.ExecuteReader()

Loop
myReader.Close()
Console.WriteLine("Return Value: " & (RetValue.Value))
Console.WriteLine("Number of Records: " & (NumTitles.Value))
End Sub
End Class

First, I am completely lost here alreay. Second, I should have the following code from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308049 too:

myReader.Close()
Console.WriteLine("Return Value: " & (RetValue.Value))
Console.WriteLine("Number of Records: " & (NumTitles.Value))

Now, I am completely out of touch with these two sets of the code from the Microsoft KB 308049 and do not know how to proceed to get the following output stated in the Microsoft KB 308049-see the below:
4.
Modify the connection string for the Connection object to point to the server that is running SQL Server.
5.
Run the code. Notice that the ExecuteScalar method of the Command object returns the parameters. ExecuteScalar also returns the value of column 1, row 1 of the returned rowset. Thus, the value of intCount is the result of the count function from the stored procedure.

Please help and tell me what I should do to get this project landed on the right track.

I have created some stored procedures that I wish to share with another user in another database. How can I extract this code, other than cut and paste, since I have quite a few? Is it possible to duplicate database object "stored procedures"? How about a script that would recreate them in the target database?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi,
I'm trying to learn some VB programming with the VB 2005 Express Absolute Beginner Series video tutorials (which I think is great) and have come across a problem that I can't solve.
When I follow the instructions in Lesson 9 (Databinding Data to User Interface Controls) my application will display the data from the database correctly and I can edit it (and as long as the debugger is running the data remains changed). However, the changes won't propagate back to the database. I don't get any error messages but after I edit the data, save (with the save button on the BindingNavigator toolbar), and end debugging the data in my database remains unchanged. When I use a MessageBox to show how many rows where edited/updated in the
Me.myTableTableAdapter.Update(Me.myDatabaseDataSet.myTable)
I get the correct number back. I'm sure the problem is not due to coding errors since I've also tried running the accompanying Lesson 9 project file that can be downloaded from MSDN and the problem persists.
I'm using Windows XP SP2, SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and VB 2005 Express Edition. I've tried installing SQL Server 2005 Express with a number of different settings, including default settings, but it doesn't make any difference.
Would greatly appreciate any feedback on this as I'm keen to resolve this problem so I can get on with the next tutorial lesson.
Thanks,
Ieyasu
Hi all,
In a Database "AP" of my SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE), I have a stored procedure "spInvTotal3":
CREATE PROC [dbo].[spInvTotal3]
@InvTotal money OUTPUT,
@DateVar smalldatetime = NULL,
@VendorVar varchar(40) = '%'
This stored procedure "spInvTotal3" worked nicely and I got the Results: My Invoice Total = $2,211.01 in
my SSMSE by using either of 2 sets of the following EXEC code:
(1)
USE AP
GO
--Code that passes the parameters by position
DECLARE @MyInvTotal money
EXEC spInvTotal3 @MyInvTotal OUTPUT, '2006-06-01', 'P%'
PRINT 'My Invoice Total = $' + CONVERT(varchar,@MyInvTotal,1)
GO
(2)
USE AP
GO
DECLARE @InvTotal as money
EXEC spInvTotal3
@InvTotal = @InvTotal OUTPUT,
@DateVar = '2006-06-01',
@VendorVar = '%'
SELECT @InvTotal
GO
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Now, I want to print out the result of @InvTotal OUTPUT in the Windows Application of my ADO.NET 2.0-VB 2005 Express programming. I have created a project "spInvTotal.vb" in my VB 2005 Express with the following code:
Imports System.Data
Imports System.Data.SqlClient
Imports System.Data.SqlTypes
Public Class Form1
Public Sub printMyInvTotal()
Dim connectionString As String = "Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS; Initial Catalog=AP; Integrated Security=SSPI;"
Dim conn As SqlConnection = New SqlConnection(connectionString)
Try
conn.Open()
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand
cmd.Connection = conn
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
cmd.CommandText = "[dbo].[spInvTotal3]"
Dim param As New SqlParameter("@InvTotal", SqlDbType.Money)
param.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output
cmd.Parameters.Add(param)
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
'Print out the InvTotal in TextBox1
TextBox1.Text = param.Value
Catch ex As Exception
MessageBox.Show(ex.Message)
Throw
Finally
conn.Close()
End Try
End Sub
End Class
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I executed the above code and I got no errors, no warnings and no output in the TextBox1 for the result of "InvTotal"!!??
I have 4 questions to ask for solving the problems in this project:
#1 Question: I do not know how to do the "DataBinding" for "Name" in the "Text.Box1".
How can I do it?
#2 Question: Did I set the CommandType property of the command object to
CommandType.StoredProcedure correctly?
#3 Question: How can I define the 1 output parameter (@InvTotal) and
2 input parameters (@DateVar and @VendorVar), add them to
the Parameters Collection of the command object, and set their values
before I execute the command?
#4 Question: If I miss anything in print out the result for this project, what do I miss?
Please help and advise.
Thanks in advance,
Scott Chang
I thought I could just copy over some asp.net code like: System.Web.Mail.MailMessage mailMessage = new System.Web.Mail.MailMessage();
But VS2005 doesn't seem to want me touching System.Web.Mail.
Any ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis problem only occurs after deployment, not when debugging. In the table I am having a problem with I have an ID field designated as the primary key with the identity increment set to 1 and the identity seed set to 1. There is no data in the table when deployed. I can add records to the datagridview control but when I try updating the dataset I get this error indicating that the ID field already has a value of 1 present. If I close the application and re-start it, the exception no longer occurrs when I update the dataset. I am including the code to update the tables incase something is wrong there. Any suggestions?
Private Sub UpdateMemberTable()
Me.Validate()
Me.TblMembersBindingSource.EndEdit()
Me.TblMembersTableAdapter.Update(Me.ChurchFamilyDataSet.tblMembers)
Me.TblMemberDependentsBindingSource.EndEdit()
Me.TblMemberDependentsTableAdapter.Update(Me.ChurchFamilyDataSet.tblMemberDependents)
Me.TblMemberContributionsBindingSource.EndEdit()
Me.TblMemberContributionsTableAdapter.Update(Me.ChurchFamilyDataSet.tblMemberContributions)
End Sub

i) How do I include image files into this column [Picture]?
ii) How do I get this image to display on Visual Basic 2005 Express form, so that when a product is selected the product image is displayed accordingly?
Your help much appreciated. Thanks.
