SRS 2000 Report Usage Logging

Jan 16, 2007

I need to determine how often our SRS reports are being used. Is there any internal metric I can set and then check to find this out? We have a lot of reports and want to find out if some of them can be deleted for low usage. I understand SRS 2005 might have this capability but I have heard there's a way to do this in SRS 2000 as well.

If there is nothing internal to SRS 2000 that will do this, I wonder if anyone else has written some code to do this or has some ingenious method!

Thanks for any help!

Table Usage Report

Aug 14, 2015

I have found a script which gives me disk size of all tables:

SELECT TOP 100
-- (row_number() over(order by (a1.reserved + ISNULL(a4.reserved,0)) desc))%2 as l1,
a3.NAME AS [schema]
,a2.NAME AS [table]
,a1.rows AS [rowCount]

[code]...

I was wondering if any has a script which will give me a similar report and a percentage figure of how much each table has grown since past week or month.

Stats On Report Usage

Jan 31, 2008

Does anyone have any reports built that show the usage of the reports based off the ExecutionLog table, or how you would get the "ReportID" to refer back to human readable report name?

I find it hard to believe others have not wanted to see how many reports were ran yesterday, what reports are not being used anymore, and which ones we may need to cache because they are over used throughout the day.

Thanks for any help!

We do have plenty of information about index usage in DMVs and I was wondering if there was any way for us to tell which of the user-created statistics for table were in use.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

SQL 2000 Transactional Replication-skiperrors Parameter With Error Logging

Mar 15, 2007

I have used skiperrors parameter for 2601,2627 and 20598 errors in my Transaction replication setup. When transactions with above error are encountered, its skipped but I€™m not getting sql command that is skipped in MSrepl_errors table. Since SQL server 2000 is not saving transaction sequence number in the MSrepl_errors we are not getting the command, which have the errors.

Is there any way to track the commands those are skipped in transactional replication.

Excessive Network Usage With SQL 2000 To SQL 2005 Transactional Replication

Aug 3, 2007

We have a SQL2000 database (Publisher) replicating inserts and updates across a 10Mb link to a SQL 2005 database (Subscriber). The Publisher has two tables we are interested in, 1 with 50 columns and 1 with 15. Both tables have 6 insert/update triggers that fire when a change is made to update columns on the publisher database.
We have set up a pull transactional replication from the Subscriber to occur against the Publisher every minute. We have limited the subscription/replication configuration to Publsih 6 columns from table 1 and 4 from table 2. Any change occuring on any other columns in the Publisher are of no interest. The SQL 2005 database has a trigger on table 1 and table 2 to insert values into a third table. There are around 7,000 insert/updates on table 1 and 28,000 on table 2 per day. All fields in the tables are text.
We are seeing "excessive" network traffic occuring of approximately 1MB per minute (approx 2GB per 24 hrs). We also see that the Distributor databases are getting very large -- upto around 30GB and growing until they get culled. We have reduced the culling intrval from 72 hrs to 24 hours to reduce the size.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this "excessive" network traffic can be minimised and how the distributor database size can be minimised. I think that maybe they are both related?

Thanks,
Geoff

Logging To Event Viewer Fails But SQL Server Logging Works OK - Why?

Jun 18, 2007

Greetings,

I am developing a package on my local workstation. I have defined two logging service providers. One is for SQL Server and the other is for the Windows Event Log. I am using the Dts.Log method in a script task to write log entries.

Logging is working properly with the SQL Server provider and rows are being inserted into the sysdtslog90 table. However, the only events that are being logged in the Windows Event Log are the package start and end events which I believe SSIS is doing automatically anyway.

Is there something I need to do to enable WIndows Event Log logging other than defining a log provider and making sure it is checked active? Won't SSIS write to two different logs with one Dts.Log call? Any ideas on what might be going wrong with my approach?

Thanks,

BCB

Logging Package Name For Any Event In Sysdtslog90 Logging Table

Oct 17, 2007

Hi,
I decided to use the SQL Server log provider to store logging data of all my Integration Services packages. I also created some reports about this data for operating purposes.
I have a problem occurs the name of the executing package is not always written to the log,but the name of the single task which failed. But that is not very useful information for operating, because I do not see any chance to get the name of the package by the information which is logged in the sysdtslog90 table in the database which I defined for SSIS Logging.

How do I configure the package to always log the package information into the table, too?

Best regards,
Stefoon

sicerely this dashboard is good, if any one is watching daily, please advice their experiences here.

Report Definition Error When Deploying Report To RS 2000 In VS .NET 2003

Jan 15, 2007

Using MS SQL 200 SP4 with Reporting Services 2000 SP2 on Win 2003 Server SP1

Visual Studio .NET 2003 on different PC (Win XP SP2)

No problem creating reports or building solutions.
Problems develop when deploying report to Report Server.

Here is the Output:

------ Build started: Project: From CD, Configuration: Debug ------

Build complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings

------ Deploy started: Project: From CD, Configuration: Debug ------

Deploying to http://<server name>/ReportServer?%2f2nd
Deploying data source '/2nd/AdventureWorks2000'.
Deploying report 'Vendor Purchase Orders'.
The report definition is not valid. Details: Could not find schema
information for the element
'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2003/10/reportdefinition:Report'.
Deploy complete -- 1 errors, 0 warnings

---------------------- Done ----------------------

Build: 1 succeeded, 0 failed, 0 skipped
Deploy: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 skipped

These are my first attempts using report services. In a previous deployment
attempts it created the folder (named 2nd), but in another attempt (saving it
to the existing folder) I got the same result as you see above (I have also
tried with a new folder but no luck). This above output is from my last
attempt.

The Build error Task List states:

The Report Definition is not valid. Details: Could not find schema
information for the element
'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2003/10/reportdefinition:report'.

The shema URL as above returns HTTP 404.
If I remove :report, I receive the page for Report Definition Language
Schema May 2004

Looking at the .rdl code the schema URL is as above without :report.

As you can imagine with a limited skill set in this area I am quite
confused. I have been doing alot of research but found nothing to help (or
that I understand will help) so far.

If anyone can help me get through this I would appreciate it.

Bill
