Jul 2, 2015I know a WMI event watcher can be used to watch for a new file being added to a folder. However, I need to check for new folders being added to an existing folder. I haven't been able to find a post on doing this. Is there a way in WQL to check for a new folder being added instead of a new file? I've used SQL for years, but am new to SSIS.

Ok,
I have a network folder called A
I have a SharePoint (2007) Document Library site called B. Web Client is enabled on the server and B is mapped as a Drive (let's call it Y for this discussion)
I want to move documents in A to B. Easy enough, right? Not so....
I first started by creating a batch file that issues a COPY \A \Y /Y at the command prompt. Viola! Worked Great!
I then moved that command to a SQL Agent job as a CMDExec statement (exact same statement) and attempted to run it.....CRASH! It found the files in A but then said "The system cannot find the path specified"
Ok, so I tried it in SSIS. CRASH! Checked the error log. Same thing...
So I then checked the account under which the SQl Agent was running (special domain account for all our SQL Servers). Thinking it might mater I changed it to run under my name (I'm in Domain admin). I also ensured I had permissions to the SPS 2007 library as well. (I did).
Ran again! CRASH! Same error....
So, I created a batch file , placed thec ommand in the batch file and ran that from the command prompt! Viola! Worked Great.
So, I was thinking of how ingenious I was as I pasted my C:RootCopy.bat into my SQL Agent job. With a big grin on my face I right clicked and picked "Start Job at step".......CRASH! Same error.
Does anyone have any ideas on this ???????????????

SSIS Processes All Files In A FTP Folder
Jan 2, 2007Hello everyone - wonder if you can help.
How do you process all files in an FTP directory - similar to the for each loop for files.
I need to be able to download each file and then move it to an archive folder on the ftp site.
Might also want to do some things in between.
I have a feeling it means getting the directory listing into a recordset or variable then enumerating that.
Sounds like a common requirement and would be quite easy by other means. Can't help feeling that SSIS has built in tasks to do it.

Oct 26, 2007I have a data flow task inside a foreach loop container which will take multiple excel files and load into a sql table. Once all the excel files are loaded into the table, then at the end one of the column gets updated using execute sql task. Now I am trying to check for a file existence, if the file is not present in the folder then the data flow task should not be executed. Any help is greatly appreciated, I am thinking of using file system task for this, but not exactly sure. Thanks in advance.

newbie to sql2005. I am trying to write a VB.NET program to list all ssis packages we have stored in a file folder (not in MSDB) where both SqlServer and ssis servers are located. These packages currently running on daily basis by automated jobs with no problem.
I have found the following link on the web that includes VB.Net program. If you scroll down under Example (SSIS Package Store) , you'll see a VB.NET program that I am trying to get it to work for me but keep getting error message like "Cannot find folder......"

My goal is to:
1. List all ssis packages stored in the file systems (.dstx)
2. List DB source and distination providers(tables in/out) in a ssis package
3. List properties for DB providers
4. List FlatFile & Excel file provider properties in a ssis package.
My assumption, but not sure, is that I may need to register this file folder (where packages are located) to the SqlServer if that is not done already. Any command or sys table in Sql2005 to figure this out?
I would appreciate any help on this in advance.

SQL 2012 :: SSIS FTP Task - Can't Move From Child Folder To Parent
Jan 13, 2015I have set up an FTP connection that tests successfully. I can log on to the FTP site with the same credentials and see my root folder, and within that, two more folders. In my FTP task, I want to receive files to my local machine. The problem is that the only remote path available is not at the root level, and the only thing I can see are files from one of the child folders, but not the child folder I want.
Is it possible in the remote path to change folders? The remote path just shows a "/", which I thought would be the root level, but it is somehow linked to a child folder.I've tried various combinations to get to the folder I want, /root folder/child folder, but that gives the error that the folder does not exist.
If I open the FTP Task Editor, click on File Transfer, and click the ellipses for the Remote Path, the Browse For File box opens, with a "/" in the Location section, and a list of files in the child folder that I do not want to be in. If I click the "Up Directory" button, I get the message "Already at top level directory".

Aug 4, 2015I'm using the FTP Task in SSIS to send files. They task succeeds but the files get uploaded to the wrong folder. Instead of being sent to the cg268301 folder they are being sent to the cg268300 despite selecting /cg268301 from the remote path field in the FTP task editor.
I've tried uploading this file to the /cg268301 file using an execute process task and it works fine. I just don't know why it won't work with the FTP task.
Unable To Copy App_data Folder Databases On Production Server To A Different Folder Or Location
Sep 19, 2007I dont alot about sql server 2005(Express edition). For debugging purposes i want to copy the whole app_data folder(.mdf & .log files) on the production server to another folder on the same machine(or sometimes to a network folder). So when i copy and try to paste this App_data folder to a new location, i get this error message
"cannot copy ASPNETDB: it is being used by another person or program. close any programs that might be using the file and try again."
After reading the above message, i close visual web developer, stop the website in IIS and stop the SQLExpress service on the server and try again but still get the same message.
So how can i make sure that all the programs accessing these database files are closed such that i'm able able to copy them to a different location.

I want to move a input.csv file from shared input folder to shared archive folder. i am using the below code to do this.

but the problem was it was cutting the input.csv file from INPUT folder but not pasting it in the ARCHIVE folder.
I really appreciate if anyone can help me to solve this or anyone can tell some workarounds.

Transferring Existing SSIS Packages Saved In A Shared Folder Location From Development Server To Live Server
Dec 20, 2007Please can anybody help me in transferring existing SSIS Packages saved in a shared folder location from development server 2ED to Live server TWD1.
Both has SQL server 2005 running and has visual studio 2005
Currently about 25 SSIS packages are executed from the development server transferring data on Live server TWD1...these ETL process is called from development server but executed on live server.
Now the problem is when i call these packages from the shared folder from live server it crashes.....i need to changes something to shift the whole package to the live server..and execute on live server itself instead of recreating the whole 25 process from scratch.....also i use optimize for many tables ..and run in a single trancastion....so how can i see the mappings of source and destination tables.
Please let me know the process how i can achieve this.

A colleague of mine did this in a SQL 2005 production environment so that he could still use isql.exe. Unfortunately, users are getting kicked out of the database and I'm thinking the binn folder may be a factor.

Log Folder Creation
Jun 7, 2006My Log file connection is set to "Create Folder". According to BOL, this seems to indicate that the folder(s) that the log file will reside in will be created if they do not already exist. Yet I am receiving a package validation error when I execute the package. The full error is:
The SSIS logging provider has failed to open the log. Error code: 0x80070003
The system cannot find the path specified.
As a side note, I thought that setting the connection to "Create File" would recreate the log file each time it ran but that does not seem be the case. Instead, the file gets appended.
Uploading APP_Data Folder

I'm using VWD on the local box and WS 2003/SQL Express on the remote box.
The first time I upload the site, the upload works great. Later after uploading updates, new pages, etc. the upload still works great.
BUT.....when I try to upload anything in the App_Data folder, I get a copy error, access denied.
On a pre-existing site with App_Data ....How do you upload the App_Data folder or it's contents to the remote server?

I found that we can keep .mdf file in App_Data folder and use the same database in our application.
so my questions are .
1.the database which is kept in app_code will work only with Sql Server Express Edition.
2.what will be my connection string in web.config.
If any one can help out that will be appreciate and put some more light about using the data base in this way.
or any article link will also appreciated.
