SSIS Higher Level Edition Error When Run In A Sql Job
Dec 27, 2006
Hi,
I am receiving the following error in Sql Job agent when I try to run an SSIS package : The task "Create Excel File" cannot run on this edition of Integration Services. It requires a higher level edition. It then goes on to tell me : The Execution method succeeded, but the number of errors raised (2) reached the maximum allowed (1); resulting in failure. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number specified in MaximumErrorCount. I have tried reseting the error count to allow for the "errors" , but it stills fails. The job suceeds in Visual Studio, but not when scheduled in Sql Management Studio. Any suggestions?
I've read some threads on this topic and all have been solved by installing the SSIS service. This would be fine except for the fact that I already have SSIS installed and working on the server the package is being called from.
I have several scheduled packages that work without error and a few that fail, telling me "Error: ... it requires a higher level edition." Does SSIS need to be installed on the target server as well? Do I need to do a reinstall? Please advise. Thanks.
Using "Integration Services Project" template in Business Intelligence Studio. Using platforms Visual Studio 2005 along with SQL Server 2005.
Getting the error while trying to execute package after loading it programmaticaly.
I've just one task "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task" on my Integration Services package. But when I try to execute it from VS 2005 project programmaticaly, it gives the above mentioned error.
The commands I use:
Package pkg = new Package();
pkg = a.LoadPackage(@"C:Documents and SettingsabcMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005ProjectslSSISSSISPackage.dtsx", null, true);
DTSExecResult dResult = pkg.Execute();
The the error comes like: error: 0xc0012024 The task Transfer SQL Server Objects Task cannot run on this edition of Integration Services. It requires higher level edition.
I have a developer here that created an SSIS package that contains a Send Mail Task. When this developer runs the package in the Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) the send mail task runs without issue. But when he tries to run it using command line and the DTEXEC program it errors out with the following error message:

Here are the details of his machine: Visual Studio 2005 Version: 8.0.50727.762 (SP.050727-7600)
Under the Installed Products section it reads: SQL Server Integration Services version: 9.00.3042.00
Once we promoted the package to a production server it runs fine. I can also run the same package from my machine without issue. So, I'm pretty sure that it's specific to his machine, but I have no idea where to start looking.
I created a load of packages on my SQL standard edition. I have now gon eto a Workgroup edition and tried to run the packages but am getting the following error
".....cannot run on this edition of integration services. It requires a higher level edition"
Isit a fact that you cannot run SSIS packages on SQL workgroup edition? Do I have to upgrade to Standard?
I was wondering how can I get the value of System::TaskName of a higher scope when I have a Master Package that have several sequence task, data flow tasks and execute package tasks. For each task inside this Master Package on the Post-Execute event handler I have a script task that logs the execution of each task.
After running this master package I saw in my db that I have a row for every single tasks executed in the process and not only the tasks that exist in the master package. For instance, for simplicity let's say my master package looks like this:
I see two TaskName variables in the Variable window, one with OnPostExec scope and the other with Execute Package 2 for instance. I want to get the value of System::TaskName with Execute Package 2 scope.
I want to see in my db only the tasks in bold. Any ideas of how can I do this? I hope you understand what I'm trying to achieve.
I have 2 higher level column groupings of month name and year above my actual date groups. It looks a little weird aligning them left but there is no guarantee that centering them will even allow them to show until I've scrolled right to the middle of the cell width that they occupy.
Is there a feature that comes with, or a well known trick for making them center in the area that is being viewed instead of the potentially very wide cell that they occupy?
I have a parameter (hidden) that gets its value using an expression base on another parameter. When in the designer, the first time when the designer loads I can select the Parameter that controls the child parameter (expression lies in the default value section). The value changes.
When I change the parent parameter again, the value of the child parameter does not seem to change.
How can I make this parameter change automatically when the parent is changed ?
I want to read data from a XML into SQL Server database tables "tour" and "stop". There is a 1:n relation between tour and stop. (a shortened XML sample, relation Tour : Stop = 1 : n)
I am able to insert elements from <Tour> into the table "tour" with the data flow in the Integration Services. But I need the values from the tag <TourNoPlan> in the rows for the table stop (it is the foreign key) in the second step. How can I get the values in the SSIS from the <Tour> in the dataflow for the different <stop>? It is a hierarchicle structure - normal for a XML. Is there a sample for reading such a XML into a Database? I have tried it with [Tour::TourNoPlan] or similar, but it was wrong. Second try was setting a UserVariable in the tour dataflow to the actual value of the TourNoPlan and using it in the data flow for the stop tags - but only a setting in a script at PostExecution was possible - to late. I think a very simple problem and the same for each XML Import. Any ideas ???
How do i see what SSIS i have? Threads seem to point that SSIS needs to be installed to fix the following error:

while executing the package following error message is received as :

and at the end as :
DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1).
Same error appers while executed from Integration Services - ->stored packages - - >name of the package -> mouse right button, run package.
But the same executes perfectly from visual studio, where it is developed.
Should I be able to use a SQL Server Compact Edition sdf file as the data source for the SSIS Import and Export Wizard?
When I select the .net Framework Provider for compact Edition from the data source drop down, I get a message box with "An error occured which the SSIS Wizard was not prepared to handle. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. (mscorlib) Specified method is not supported. (System.Data.SqlServerCe)"
We have a user with a sdf file that will no longer sync, so we wanted to get her data from sdf file tables into SQL Server tables quickly and easily. Since the SSIS wizard wouldn't work with the sdf data source, we copied SQL Server Mgmt Studio query results into an Excel spreadsheet via the Clipboard, them imported those records with SSIS. But we need a repeatable process in case this happens in the future.
We tried to reinitialize her merge replication subscription with SQL Server Mgmt studio, and with C# code, but none of that would work.
How many MS data provider options are available for SQL Server compact edition? I see ".Net Framework Data Provider for Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition" in the SSIS data source drop down, but shouldn't I also see an OLE-DB Provider for SQL Server Compact Edition?
This is all on my XP workstation where I can successfully write C# code for SQL Server Compact data access with Assembly = System.Data.SqlServerCe = C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8Common7IDEPublicAssembliesSystem.Data.SqlServerCe.dll. So I think I have the proper tools installed.
I developed a package in BIDS which simply runs a query, does a data conversion on one field, then exports to Excel. This works fine in BIDS. When I import the package to the server, I receive the Product Level is Insufficient error for both the data conversion component and the excel destination.
I have verified that SSIS is installed and the service is running. I have verified that SP1 is installed.
Some other things about the environment: - Running x64 versions of Windows and SQL 2005 - Did not install the workstation tools on the server
We had a disaster last week (SAN Corruption) and it hit a bunch of my sql serves. I have been able to recover all but one. The one I am having a problem with is a NAMED Instance that I obviously don't know the original SP level on. When I try to restore MSDB it won't let me because of a version conflict Is there any way to tell what the SP Level is either from a system DB .mdf or LDF file or from a backup file without restoreing? Right now I'm installing SQL Server to a test server and I'm going to try and restore the system dbs at each patch level.. seems like there must be a better way!!
I found so many websites wrote that fuzzy grouping ,fuzzy lookup, term extraction, term lookup,Dimension processing destination adapter and Data mining model training destination adapter only available at Enterprise Edition. Anyway i still can use these components at Standard Edition. Is that any features different between these two edition for these components? Thanks
I have developed an SSIS package for ETL purpose. I am invoking the SSIS package through .Net console application by referencing the ManagedDTS Assembly. I am able to execute the package in Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition and it runs fine till completion.
But when i try to execute the packahe in Sql Server 2005 Standard edition, by invoking the package through .Net console application the status of the package is failure.
Can any one help me how to over come this problem.
I am attempting to upgrade a 2005 Standard Edtion to Enterprise Edition. This is a default instance. All components are upgraded successfully except the Database Engine. I receive the following error:
SQL Server Setup has encountered the following problem: [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]The certificate cannot be dropped because one or more entities are either signed or encrypted using it.. To continue, correct the problem, and then run SQL Server Setup again.
This installation does not have encryption enabled, so I do not undersand the error or how to correct it.
After rebooting the SQL instance appears to be upgraded to Enterprise, but it cannot be upgraded to SP2.
For those of you who have had a hard time like me trying to figure out using Protection level for an SSIS package whilst deploying the package via the SQL Server Agent, here is a piece of advice:
Firstly the protection level is set by Default to - "EncryptSensitivewithUserKey".
The encryption actually takes place only if you have things like - passwords etc..
From my experience - using both - "EncryptSensitivewithUserKey" and "EncryptSensitivewithPassword" Security features have turned out to be unreliable when deploying through SQL Server Agent (even while using a Proxy account having all previliges).
This is it seems because of issues with the user who created the package being different from the user who deployed the package. (which is really ridiculous).
So I used the ProtectionLevel - "DontSaveSensitive" - which means it is not going to encrypt anything in the package and so ur sensitive information would be blank. You would have to then supply your password etc using a configuration XML file. - using SSIS "Package configuation" in your menu....
This has been the most reliable way of solving the whole problem with encryption.
bear in mind that you might want to put the XML file in a secure location to which no one else has access to.
I am currently designing a SSIS package that will migrate data from Syabse to Sql server. If these packages are to be deployed to file system (as this is one time run for migrating data) or to SSIS catalog or to Sql server.
Also, I have not changed the default protection level value in packages during design time and would like to know if I have to change it while handling the deployment using DTutil (yes, i need to deploy & execute using command line utilities).
Please note that I do not have access to PROD, UAT environments and deployment team will use my BAT file that is expected to deploy and execute the packages.
Lately, I have been experimenting with SSIS and I created a generic custom error logging component that saves all offending data on data flow component failure. However...
Instead of re-directing rows at the data flow level and handling/logging the data at that level, is it possible to catch all of this information at the package level and handle/process it there?
My project currently has task which have their own individual event handlers that get called onError (setup event messages). I also have a package level event handler that performs a generic task (sending events to the windows eventviewer) In the package level event handler there is a script task that decides on a boolean variable whether to "Success" or "Failure" to different task. When I fail one task of the main control flow, the task level event handler runs, then the package level event handler runs, and then it also runs again for some unknown reason. The second time it runs it picks up the value of a variable set in the variables window. However, I change this value at runtime to the value from a database. I can't understand why it would run the second time, and if it did run why it would have the value from the variables window and not the value that is set in memory. It's like the event handler runs with the value from memory and then runs and picks the values back out of the variables window, replacing the db values and re-runs.
Maybe the package itself is failing all together and then re-runing the package level event handler?
Can anyone explain to me why my ssis packages will not work when DontSaveSensitive protection level is selected? My package configurations are set as SQL server configuration type, and I have a table in a database that contains all the sensitive information (passwords and such). If I select "EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey" everything works, but I will be the only one able to execute the packages (not good, I need others to be able to execute them as well).
The error I'm getting tells me that the connection is not configured correctly or I may not have the right permissions on the connection.
My guess is that the DontSaveSensitive drops the passwords, but when I edit the data source and re-enter the password, it still does not work. Also, the database table I use that contains the sensitive data is not affected, all data remains.
What the fudge is going on here? I'm a newbie at this, can someone help me out?
HI I am facing a strange problem with SQL Server 2005 . The CPU utilization with SQL Server 2005 is higer by about 70% comapared to SQL 2000.
In the same kind of Hardware and with the DB server up , I performed the following tests Declare @i int Set @i = 10 While @i < 100000 Begin Insert into arup_emp values(@i,'M',0)
Set @i = @i + 1 end
The CPU utilization average on SQL 2005 was 45% and on SQL 2K it was just 25% , I am seeing a lot of people who seems to be facing this problem but unfortunately not seeing any solution to this.
Can anyone through some light . Please note that I have tried to also see the MAXDOP options, but get the same results.
I am trying to determine the next registered session of a student so Ican calculate the number of skipped sessions.Scenario: I have a student registration summary table. One row foreach student and the student's registered session. I want to update agiven row with the next higher registered session (into a field callednext_registered_session_skey if the row exists). I can then use thediff of the skeys to determine how many sessions the student skippedfor each registration period.Example: Student X registers each fall for one session for 4 years.The file might look like:STUDENT_ID SESSION_ID SESSION_SKEYNEXT_REGISTRED_SESSION_SKEY123456789 200201 100null123456789 200301 104null123456789 200401 108null123456789 200501 112nullI need to update the NEXT_REGISTRED_SESSION_SKEY so I end up with:STUDENT_ID SESSION_ID SESSION_SKEYNEXT_REGISTRED_SESSION_SKEY123456789 200201 100104123456789 200301 104108123456789 200401 108112123456789 200501 112nullI can then say SESSIONS_SKIPPED = NEXT_REGISTRED_SESSION_SKEY –SESSION_KEY (logically speaking, not syntactically)This is what I have so far as example:UPDATE F_REGISTRATIONSET NEXT_REGISTERED_SESSION_SKEY = (select top 1 nextr.session_skeyfrom f_registration rinner joinf_registration nextron r.student_skey = nextr.student_skey and nextr.session_skey[color=blue]> r.session_skey[/color]order by r.session_skey desc)WHERE STUDENT_ID = '577665705';SELECT student_skey, student_id, session_id, session_skey,next_registered_session_skey, * FROM F_REGISTRATION WHERE STUDENT_ID= '577665705' order by session_skey descRESULTS:STUDENT_SKEY STUDENT_ID SESSION_ID SESSION_SKEYNEXT_REGISTERED_SESSION_SKEY125137 577665705 200404 309 311125137 577665705 200403 308 311125137 577665705 200402 307 311125137 577665705 199804 285 311125137 577665705 199803 284 311125137 577665705 199802 283 311125137 577665705 199704 281 311TIARob(I restricted with the where = ‘577665705' so I did not have to waitto update all the rows)
I'm developing and sql 2008 view that shows me the last month of sales of every customer and every item sold, the problem is that I need group by customer with the higher Sale Price of every item of the customer, example:
1.If We sold the same item to one customer then it must show just the higher sale price of every item
2.If the same item was sold to the same customer at the same price then it must show just the last sold date record of that item
SELECT TOP (100) PERCENT OrderDate, DebtorNr, DebtorName, ItemCode, Description, Qty, CostPrice, SalePrice FROM dbo.VK_SALE_ORDERS WHERE (OrderDate >= DATEADD(MM, - 1, GETDATE())) ORDER BY DebtorNr, ItemCode
I'm reading <inside sql server 2005torage engine> recently.
The author mentioned about " If the LSN on the page is equal to or higher than the actual LSN for this log record, SQL Server will skip the REDO operation" in chapter 5 and section 1.
As we all know, the transaction log will be written before the changes to the database are written. So i think the the LSN on the page is equal to or lower than the actual LSN for this log record....
