Using the lookup on a table, working with Haselden book, I plug into table on the

I am trying to run the Fuzzy Lookup on a SQL2K ref table using 2005 SSIS package and keep getting the following error:
[Fuzzy Lookup [2601]] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Cannot create a row of size 8061 which is greater than the allowable maximum of 8060.".
Regardless of the changes I make I cannot get this to work and it would make a huge difference if I could get it to run.
Can I create the FuzzyLookupIndex on a SQL2K database?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi,
I am new to using SSIS. I need to know how can I retrieve the records in a Lookup component that cause an error to use them in a Data Transfer task. I created the error event handler but I don't know how to retrieve the records causing the error to use them in the Data Transfer task.
Thanks in advance for help!
Thanks,
Aref
Hi Everyone,
I'm building a package that is using the Fuzzy Lookup data flow item
and I'm receiving an error message that is troubling me!!!
"Fuzzy Lookup The length of input column is not equal to the length of
the reference column that it is being matched against"
If anyone can provide me any insight it would be greatly appreciated!

A.Akin
Hi All,
I have created a SSIS package with a Fuzzy lookup transformation.
It matches on 18 columns, looks for a 95 % match and has 50 variables that are passed through the transformation.
When I run the transformation it fails with the following error :-
Warning: 0x8007000E at Data Flow Task, Fuzzy Lookup [228]: Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.
Warning: 0x800470E9 at Data Flow Task, DTS.Pipeline: A call to the ProcessInput method for input 229 on component "Fuzzy Lookup" (228) unexpectedly kept a reference to the buffer it was passed. The refcount on that buffer was 2 before the call, and 1 after the call returned.

Error: 0xC0047021 at Data Flow Task, DTS.Pipeline: Thread "SourceThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0047038.
I have tried all suggestions to fix this e.g. implement SQL Server 2005 service pack 2 - didn't fix it, up your virtual memory - didn't fix it.
Can anyone suggest what to do next ? Thx - Gary
Has anybody seen this issue already?
If you try to "enable memory restriction" from the Lookup component GUI you need to input both 32 and 64 bit size of maximum memory. However when clicking "OK" on the editor you get a message like :

I think this is a post SP1 bug in Visual studio designer...
We hit this error about 2 weeks ago on SQL Server 2000 and it seems to be getting worse.
We have a table that stores phone numbers (wtns). We have a number of pages that query this table. I can sit and click a link that queries this table over and over and finally after about 40-50 clicks, it will fail and repeatedly fail for about a minute with:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'Unspecified error
If our system is busy, I can get to the error much quicker. The strange thing is this table and these pages have not been modified, some of them haven't been touched in years so these queries worked just fine for that long until Dec 4th when the problems started (nothing significant happened that day or prior to that either).
I have the SQL Profiler running and what I see is the SELECT stmt completes just fine. The stmt looks as expected and I can even run it manually and it works fine. Then I see a series of audit login audit logout pairs in the profiler but nothing else, where I would expect to see more Queries from that page on other tables.
If I go to any of the 5 pages or so that has a similar query to this table, I can get the same error. No other table in our DB causes this problem. There is no problem cleaning up the connection/resultset either.
Any ideas where to look? We've done alot recently to try and fix it:
Reinstalled MDAC, reinstalled SQL Server SP, increased memory, shrunk the trans log, reindexed the table, changed the cursor around (made it readonly as it initally wasn't), modified permissions. Nothing seems to work.
This is on SQL Server 2000MDAC 2.81.1128.0Windows 2000 SP4IIS
Our Connection string looks like the following:
Session("Conn") = "DRIVER={SQL Server};SERVER=DS20021218001;DATABASE=ODB;UID=webUser;PWD=***
Any ideas on where to go next? What to try?
thank you
I have a DTS to transfer logins from one server to a another server. I have put the syslogins.dat file in the share directory. But this DTS is giving 'Unspecified Error'. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
We have a system that has been running for years and some of the .asp pages haven't been touched in years, but about 10 days ago the same SQL stmts that have always been there have been returning
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
Unspecified error
This is on SQL Server 2000
MDAC 2.81.1128.0
Windows 2000 SP4
IIS
The problem is this occurs at random. The statement will execute 5x, then fail once, then run 2 more times and fail again. There isn't a problem with the SQL itself as the same Select stmt will fail or pass randomly. I can also take and execute the stmt manually and it will also pass. There are about 5 places it occurs in our pages. Here is on particular example. Note that DataRS("acc_num") is a valid value and will return just fine if I manually execute it and will pass probably 75% of the time as it is, but 25% of the time will fail with above error.
CMD = "SELECT TOP 1 id, acc_num, businessType, mdCountry, cust_lec, First_Name, Last_Name FROM accounts WHERE (Acc_Num = '" & DataRS("acc_num") & "')"
AccRS.Open CMD, DBConn, adOpenForwardOnly
Not sure at all what is causing this. I've haven't been able to find anything conclusive in the SQL Profiler either.
Any ideas?
Is this the correct version of MDAC? I tried to get the latest, but it was an earlier version .1117.
thanks
Gday.
I'm writing a PDA app which has an SQL CE database on the storage card. Under certain circumstances, I get an Error Code 80004005 ; "Unspecified Error" exception (henceforth referred to as "The Error".
I can write to a certain table (the only one which has a problem) many times on the first run of the app since the database was created. However if I exit and reload the app, the error starts hapenning. It does not go away until I delete the database and re-create it.
The database has a password (I've tried with and without this to no avail) and the temp file is being stored on the Storage Card (the PDA itself doesn't have enough memory).
I have been extensively searching the net for existing solutions. I found this one from microsoft,
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=919150) which suggests the PDA is coming out of suspend mode and trying to access the Storage Card. This sounds reasonable and similair to my case. I would like to change my code so it is not coming out of suspend mode (instead of trying to find that hotfix) but I don't know what suspend mode is. The code is being called from a button's handler. This sounds like it is coming out of suspend mode, doesn't it?
Has anyone else seen this? It has brought my project to a grinding halt and I can not see anything wrong with my code (it's doing the same insert command I've done a million times before on other tables).
Thanks in advance for any help!

I have lost the ability to query any table in my database using the Query Designer/table viewer in Enterprise Manager.
I get the following error:
Query Designer has encountered an error. Unspecified error.
I can still query the table from SQL Query Analyzer and the client front end.
Has anyone seen this problem before?
Hi,
I have processed the data successfully for the cube after desiging storage as MOLAP with 50% performance gain. When I tried browse the data I am getting the followign error.

Connecting to the database to change a record works fine in xp/xphome but trying the same
thing in 2000 workstaton causes the error above.
Here is the script....tried adding a password to sa, but same results

I am using SQL 2000 (SP4) and trying to save a DTS Package. When I do that it gives me an error:
Error Source : SQL OLE DB Provider
Error Description : Unspecified error
The package runs fine and I can change global variables, etc. But I just can't save it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hello, we've developed an application that runs on AXIM X51, if it is an important to know.
The data layer handles the connection using the singleton pattern, a bit of code of this is:
(....)
Private Shared ceConnection As SqlCeConnection
(....)
Public Shared Function GetConnection() As SqlCeConnection
Try
If (ceConnection Is Nothing) Then
ceConnection = New SqlCeConnection(Me.connectionString)
End If
If (ceConnection.State = ConnectionState.Closed) Then
ceConnection.Open()
End If
Return ceConnection
Catch ex As Exception
Throw ex
End Try
End Function
(....)
So far nothing strange. We started experiencing problems when the end-users get an "Unspecified error" which later debugging it we got the href value inside the exception object is -2147467259 and nothing else. And if that wasn't enough I couldn't replicate the error in my pocket.
The only way I got the same error was removing the SD Card where the db is located at the same time the application was still open.
Does anybody experienced the same problem??? I researched about this kind of errors "when the device is just restored from the suspend mode" but with out luck.
Please, I really appreciate any help with this issue. Any comment will be more than welcome.
hello all
i m getting the following error while exporting an excel file in SSIS
SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft JET Database Engine" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Unspecified error".
is this a bug?
pls suggest a workaround.
Greetings:
We have a database with approximately 15-20 tables. Last week, using Enterprise Manager, we were able to open any of these tables and return all rows. Yesterday, when we tried to do this, we got the following message:
An Unexpected Error happened during this operation.
[Query] - Query Designer encountered a Query Error: Unspecified Error
Can anyone tell me what might be causing this and how to fix it? Barring that, can anyone suggest some general steps I might take to possibly eliminate this problem without knowing the cause? Last, can you point me to a good resource for investigating problems of this kind, such as a knowledge base (other than Microsoft's TechNet)?
Many, many thanks.
I'm working with an existing package that uses the fuzzy lookup transform. The package is currently working; however, I need to add some columns to the lookup columns from the reference table that is being used.
It seems that I am hitting a memory threshold of some sort, as when I add 3 or 4 columns, the package works, but when I add 5 columns, the fuzzy lookup transform fails pre-execute:
Pre-Execute
Taking a snapshot of the reference table
Taking a snapshot of the reference table
Building Fuzzy Match Index
component "Fuzzy Lookup Existing Member" (8351) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0x8007007A.
These errors occur regardless of what columns I am attempting to add to the lookup list.
I have tried setting the MaxMemoryUsage custom property of the transform to 0, and to explicit values that should be much more than enough to hold the fuzzy match index (the reference table is only about 3000 rows, and the entire table is stored in less than 2MB of disk space.
Any ideas on what else could be causing this?
Hello All,
I need you help badly. Iam a student and iam working on "Creating a Mobile Application with SQL Server Compact Edition" http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms171908.aspx . This tutorial works fine until
Create the publication snapshot
In SQL Server Management Studio, in Object Explorer, expand the (local) computer node.
Expand the Local Publications folder, select the publication name, right-click SQLMobile, and then click View Snapshot Agent Status.
In the View Snapshot Agent Status dialog box, click Start.
Make sure that the snapshot job has succeeded before you continue.
When I try to create a snapshot iam getting the following error "An unspecified error had occurred in the native SQL Server connection component." . I have no clue what to do next please help me out.
Hi all
When using a subscription to send mail, I find that the report can be sent in any format apart from Excel, which gives me the error: "Failure sending mail: Unspecified error". As you can imagine, this doesn't give me much to go on!
I want to use Excel format as it retains the drilldown functionality (hiding / unhiding rows). The ExecutionLog has the status as rsSuccess, but Subscription tab for the report shows the error.
Any thoughts would be most welcome!
Hi,
Inside a single transaction I'm inserting/updating multiple records into multiple tables, in this order:
table 1 record 1
table 2 record 1
table 3 record 1
table 1 record 2
table 2 record 1
table 1 record 3
table 2 record 3
table 3 record 3
Now I'm getting an unspecified error on a certain table:
Unspecified error [ 3,-1300704038,-1834095882,activitypointerBase,x lock (x blocks),PAG (idx): 1078 ]
From msdn I see that:
PAG (idx) means a lock on an index page.
x lock means an exclusive lock:
Indicates a data modification, such as an insert, an update, or a deletion. Ensures that multiple updates cannot be made to the same resource at the same time. (I assume that multiple updates within the SAME transaction can be made, only multiple updates from different transaction cannot be made, right?)
I cannot find any reference to this error message and don't know what the numbers mean. Maybe it relates to data that can be found in the sys.lock_information table like explained here, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms172932.aspx, but I'm not sure.
Furthermore, the sys.lock_information table is empty. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem myself. I only received an error log and the database to investigate it.
So, does anybody have an idea what this error message means and what I can do to troubleshoot this?
Thanks,
Jeffry
I have ran into the same problem ... Importing from Access into SQL 2005 using SSIS and get the error:
[Connection manager "SourceConnectionOLEDB"] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft JET Database Engine" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Unspecified error".

How to get the count in IS lookup?
Thanks
How do I perform a date lookup in SSIS. I have a date with time component in it. This has to be looked-up with a table that contains only a date element.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the following query:
SELECT EMPID,EMPNAME from EMPLOYEE
where EMPID = (SELECT MAX(EMPID) from EMPLOYEE group by EMPNAME,insert_date)
Here one can use above query in Dataflow of SSIS and specify SQL to create temporary table and later can use as lookup to join to other table.
Is there any way in SSIS to directly do the MAX of EMPID in lookup and join to the main source table.
Any help is really appreciated.
Thanks.
I designed an SSIS package about 200 packages in one project.
the package extract from live to reporting server. some of my packages are very slow about 10 of them. strage enough the ones with more data number of rows run very fast. I'm using Source->Lookup->Conditional split->OLEDB Destination or OLDB Comand.
Can someone help me to found out what could be the problem. I'm very new in SSIS.
I'm trying to understand how to use SSIS variables within SQL commands and which Data Flow toolbox objects I can use for this. My simple package has a OLE DB Source object that returns the rows in a table. For the next operation, the output from the OLE DB Source is input into a Lookup data flow transformation where there is a select query that returns another value from a different table...
select bla from myTable where dbname = db_name()
The output is then passed on to an OLE DB Destination.
The above lookup query only works because, it so happens, that I could get a unique and correct result back filtered by current database name. However, due to other required changes, I now have introduce more 'where clauses'. I have all the necessary clause information in SSIS variables (iterated via a For Each loop). I would like do something like...
select bla from myTable where dbname = ? and bla_type = ?
However, there isn't a facility for Parameters in the Lookup object's 'use results of a SQL query'. I can see that I can use parameters in the OLE DB Source object by changing the 'data access mode' to SQL Query. However, it doesn't seem valid to join two OLE DB Source objects together in the data flow? I can't see any other suitable objects in the Data Flow toolbox. Ideally, I would be able to use Parameters in the Lookup object or some other object that would do the same job.
Thanks,
Clive
Hi, I'm transferring lots of rows (each row is a problem) from an oltp database to a datawarehouse. These problems (rows) are transferred to the fact table. And a problem has attributes like status and logdate and solved_date (default null) and a sequence number. I also check every day for new problems in the source. Now the thing is ... I can write an SQL query to incrementally add new rows by using the sequence number as parameter. This is to lower querying time (BECAUSe the problem table has about 2.000.000 rows)
The Actual Question: I also need to write a query to update the tables in the Datawarehouse. For example when a status of a problem changes. When status changes from "unsolved" to "solved" it gets a date in the solved_date attribute. Now ... How can I write a query that goes fast through those 2000000 rows? Now I can't use the sequence_number because its not known when the problem gets solved. There is the fact that I run a query every day, so maybe I need to look at problems where a solved date is added on that day? Im just a novice in sql so maybe you guys know ways to do fast lookups in many rows? Or are there Data Flow tasks I can use? I was thinking about the slowly changing dimension but thats for dimensions right? :) So maybe any other tasks that are possible? I just need to put back on track because I cant find a good way to do this.
Hi,
I am facing a problem with Lookup component in SSIS. I need to lookup from a transaction table for getting some info, But when im trying to implement the same, the Pre-Execute step itself got failed saying like,
€œ[DTS.Pipeline] Information: The buffer manager failed a memory allocation call for 524264 bytes, but was unable to swap out any buffers to relieve memory pressure. 9467 buffers were considered and 5956 were locked. Either not enough memory is available to the pipeline because not enough are installed, other processes were using it, or too many buffers are locked.
[Tracer [19717]] Error: A buffer could not be locked. The system is out of memory or the buffer manager has reached its quota.
[DTS.Pipeline] Error: component "Tracer" (19717) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC020204B.€?
Component Tracer is the Look up. Tracer is having around 6.5 mil records. Is there any way to allocate more buffers thru buffer manager? Or is there any alternative to solve this problem? FYI, the hard disk free space is more than 250 GB.
Thanks in advance.
Hello there.
I've just upgraded from using DTS to SSIS. I've run through a few tutorials and am starting to use to the new ways of working.
There are however two task that I'm not really sure how to tackle, can someone suggest the best method in SSIS.
1) The destination table has many FK's. I'd like the package to check that the input data does not violate the FK's and use a default value for the columns where a violation occurs.
2) I need to increment a value in the package as a source column for use as the Primary Key field in the destination insert. It would be an added bonus if I could find out the maximum key used in the destination table already so that I can set my counter for this field at that value + 1.

We have a LKP table that we will use to decode incoming codes from multiple sales feeds to link to the relevant surrogate key for the ultimate dimension table.
The LKP table has a start date, end date and active row flag to track history of the codes.
This table in its entirety is required for the FULL history load but we will need a CURRENT version of the table containing only the ACTIVE rows for the DAILY incremental loading.
I am thinking of putting a standard view over the top of the LKP table to present only the ACTIVE rows rather than creating a 2nd table and reloading it each night. We don't have enterprise edition to use materialised views.
My question is, will the LKP cache populate as the SSIS packages begins, loading it with all the rows from the view, as it would if I used the 2nd physical table with only ACTIVE rows?
How would you do the following in SSIS?
SELECT a.TestID,
a.TestCode
FROM TableA a
WHERE UPPER(RTRIM(a.TestCode)) IN SELECT (SELECT UPPER(RTRIM(b.TestCode)) FROM TableB b)
Of course the above query is missing a few things but with ETL the where clause UPPER(RTRIM does not appear to be something that has an object or property that I can use in the Lookup.
Please correct and educate me.
