Hi,
I'm trying to use query parameters with an Oracle OLEDB Source in a data
flow task and I'm having problems.
I've tried formatting the query each of the following ways...

frq_code,
frq_name,
update_frq,
uptime_frq
from frequency_bcs
where update_frq > ?
and update_frq <= ?

Parameters cannot be extracted from the SQL command. The provider might not
help to parse parameter information from the command. In that case, use the
"SQL command from variable" access mode, in which the entire SQL command is
stored in a variable.
Additional information
---> Provider cannot derive parameter information and SetParameterInfo has
not been called. (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle).

I am using execute sql task to run a stored procedure in oracle database which returns a resultset. This works. Now I need to send the ouput to a destination table in a sql database. Should I use for each loop to pick the resultset and insert it into the destination one by one (which I dont think is a great idea) or is there a better way to accomplish this task (in data flow task) ?
When I use dataflow task instead of execute sql task, the main issue is I am not able to see the output columns when I execute an oracle stored procedure, but when I see the preview I can see the resultset . But I can see the output columns for a sql server stored procedure.

Hi,
I have several oracle reports which running in SharePoint Integrated mode. They were working well when the SharePoint server and report server in same machine. But after that the report server move out to another machine, we got the problem with connection to oracle databasen. Reports with Sql server as data source has no problem at all.
We have installa both oracle client and odp.net in both machines, and tried to give Network Service full access right in
Bin catalog in oracle client but nothing helps. Please help!!!!!

Hi everybody,
I have designed a DTS package which will migrate a view from Sqlserver 2000 to Oracle.My package is using Microsoft OLEDB provider for Oracle driver for connecting to oracle.Im able to execute this package on the my system ie on the system where sqlclient is installed(Oracle client is also installed on my machine) .But when im doing it on the server im not able to do it.The Connection to Oracle Fails.
I wanted to know in order to connect to Oracle from the server,is it necessary that Oracle has to be installed on the server?.If yes, is it enough if i install oracle client on the server or Oracle Server version has to be installed on Server.
Please suggest me wht should i do know?

In many DTS packages I have used parameterised queries for incremental loads from Oracle database sources using the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle.
Now I want to migrate these packages to SSIS, but the OLE DB connection for Oracle does not support parameters.
I cannot use the "SQL command from variable" data access mode because of the 4000 character limitation on the length of string variables and expressions.
Am I missing an obvious workaround?

I am working to archive some old data from a data warehouse using SQL server and SSIS. The data will be read and denormalized, then shipped out to a delimited text file.
The rowcount of the incoming data is significant, call it 10M+ rows per unit of work (one text file).
There are development advantages of using a stored proc for the data source - mainly ease of changing the denormalization logic as required. Wondering if there are performance advantages of an embeded query for the data source instead?
It was mentioned by one developer that when using a stored procedure, the output stream from the proc and subsequent SSIS steps cannot start until the full procedure processing is complete; i.e. the proc churns out its' result set in one big chunk.
He hinted that an embedded query does not have this same effect, but I am not sure that is accurate.

I am try to transfer some tables data from one database server into another database server. I create a package in SSIS, and I use a variable to pass each table name. In Data flow, I use a OLEDB Source, but I cannot set the Data access mode to Table name or view name variable. Ever time, I will get this following error info "===================================

Is there a way to use the results of a query as parameters of a WHERE statement in Oracle?
I have a list in a SQL table that I would like to use as criteria for a query through Oracle? Basically I have two data sources; one Oracle and the other SQL, I'm currently querying the SQL one, then using a Merge Join object in SSIS to combine the data. The SQL query has roughly 2000 rows which is fine, however the Oracle one had several million... I've tried to limit the oracle one as much as I can however its still returning far too much data...
If anyone has any suggestions on how to do this I'd greatly appreciate it. I've looked into Linked servers, however this isn't an option with my set up due to account restictions on the Oracle server. Thanks and let me know if you require any other details

Guys,
I am having a nightmarish time getting an Oracle Connection Manager working as a source in my SSIS package.
The CM is called "OLTP_SOURCE". When I inspect the configuration and test connection, it succeeds, however when I go to run the package (both in debug mode and via DTEXECUI) I get the following error:
The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "OLTP_SOURCE" failed with error code 0xC0202009
After this happens, if I go into an OLE DB Source within a DFT, I get the following:
No disconnected record set is available for the specified SQL statement.
Now, if I go back into the CM, enter the password and test, it succeeds. From this point, I will go to preview the data in the OLE DB Source, and it comes back fine. However, when I go to run the package, I get the same error time and time again:

The quick reader will suggest that the password is not being persisted. To this end, I have tried each of the following techniques to no avail:
1. Double, Triple and Quadruple check that the "save" password option in the CM is checked.
2. Hardcode the connection string in the dtsx XML-behind.
3. Enable Package Configurations and hardcode the connection string in the dstsconfig file.
4. Run the dtsx file using DTEXECUI, providing it with the configuration (that includes the hard-coded password).
5. Run the dtsx file using DTEXECUI, providing it the connection string in the Connection Managager override UI.
Can anyone help shed some light on what might be going on? So far, it is obvious that there has to be something that I am doing wrong because (syntax dialect differences aside) I can't imagine that Oracle sources should be this much of a headache.

Firtsly - I am new to SSIS if my approach could be improved then I welcome suggestions.
Scenario: I have a large SSIS package that consolidates / summarizes work week information from several data sources. Currently each data flow task in the control flow calculates the from and to date that is filtered on, for example:

SET @ToDT = CAST(FLOOR( CAST( GETDATE() AS FLOAT ) ) AS DATETIME)
I would like to remove these statements that appear in most steps and replace them with a global variable that is used throughout the package. This statement would only appear once & it would make the package much easier to run after failure etc.
Problem: I am using Data Reader Source with the 'SQLCommand' property specified. It looks like parameters are only supported if an OleDB connection is used?
So I switched to an OleDB connection and no parameters are recognised in the string - a forum search reveals that parameters in sub queries are not always found properly. The solution to this problem appears to be, to set 'Bypass Prepare' to True but this is a property for the Execute SQL task, not the Data Flow Task source.
Questions:
Does the Data Reader Source control from Data Flow Source toolbox section support parameters?
Can anyone suggest a fix to the OleDB Source issue with Parameters?
Is there a better way to solve my problem e.g. Using Execute SQL Task instead of Data Flow tasks etc

I have my datasource in Oracle9i and destination is Sql2005. I am connecting to Oracle 9i through OLEDb provider and when I connect to my DataSource using OLE DB Data Source, I get the following error:
Warning at "guid code": Cannot retreive the column code page info from the oledb provider. If the component supports the "DefaultCodePage" property, the code page from that property will be used. Change the value of the property if the current string code page values are incorrect. If the component does not support the property, the code page from the component's locale Id will be used.
Could anyone please help me trouble shoot this problem.

Hello All,
I understand that the parser is having issues parsing my second command but I was wonder if anyone had stumbled on a work around for this:
-- OLEDB Source has no problem with this:
SELECT *
FROM some_table
where
last_update_dt = ?
-- OLEDB Source errors on this:

FROM some_table

Convert( char(12), last_update_dt, 112 ) = Convert( char(12), Cast( ? as DateTime), 112 )
The first SQL statement won't return the desired rows because of the wonderful time stamp, the second works well but the provider won't parse it. I have used the "SQL command from variable" to work around this but we have some tables with 200+ columns, so the only way to use the "SQL command from variable" is to do a select *, which I'm trying to avoid, for both performance reasons and company standards.
Any thoughts?

I want to call "oracle" stored procedure with output parameter from SSIS ole db command task.
Actually I am able to successfully call the procedure but my Output value is not updating in the mapped column.

I have several SSIS packages that test out without problems on my dev box when connecting to an Oracle server, both from inside BIDS IDE and from the command line with DTexec. The problem happens when running these packages from the app server that will be used for production; the packages get through the validation, preparation and pre-execution phases but crash when starting the execution phase with this error:
" Code: 0xC0202009
Source: Import Level tables Level1 Source [1261]
Description: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E07.
An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle" Hresult: 0x80040E07 Description: "ORA-01861: literal does not match format string".
I've Googled this and it often refers to a date issue. I am not writing to Oracle but importing to SQL Server by using SSIS import tasks, and my question is why would this work without problems from my box but not on this app server? Both machines have the same version of Oracle client installed. My box has the client SQL server with BIDS and the app server only has the full version of SSIS without SQL Server installed. At this point I'm trying to determine if this is an Oracle issue or SSIS. Any ideas?

I am attempting to pass report parameters to my query. My report's data source is a WCF web service. I can run normal queries fine, but I have found that without the know-how to pass parameters to my query I am limited with my capabilities.
Assume a string parameter named "Name" with a specified default value of "Jmachol90", how would I pass that into the following query at the designated place:

Windows 2003(64bit) server, SQL 2005 Server(64bit), Oracle client 10G rel2 (64bit) is installed. But when I am going to create a datasource to the Oracle database the Oracle OLEDB Provider is missing, the only Providers avaliable is from Microsoft.
I have tried to install ODAC (64bit) with no result.
Anyone who have come across this problem and how do I do to resolve it?
BTW! Is there a way to try communication with the OLEDB provider from the commandprompt?

Passing a date parameter in a stored procedure through OLEDB Source (Data flow task). We have a multipurpose stored proc in which one of the many expected parameter is a date. It keeps giving me the following error:Description: "Operand type clash: int is incompatible with date"- although there is no integer.
One way to fix it would be change the data type from date to datetime in proc but I can't do that since it is multi-purpose proc. I didn't find anything good on the net.

I have problem to extract data from DB2 table using SSIS dataflow task with OLEDB source selecting the data access mode with command. Here is the scenario.(Note:If I select the data access mode as a table then it works fine.)
If I use the data access mode as SQL Command then it is not working. i.e. the flow stays yellow in controlflow nothing happens in dataflow and I noticed the SQL dumper and proc completes. I couldn't find any log to verify the issue including the package execution results.Any of your thoughts will help me to resolve this issue.

I'm trying to get data from AS400. using OLEDB source as my connection. i'm using IBM OLEDB provider for iSeries. and working on standard edition of SQL Server 2005.
While using OLEDB source task when i set my access mode to 'table or view' and try to see list of available libraryname.tablenames, i do not get and tables
where as when i use Data access mode as 'SQL Command' i can get data (can only see preview of data) from AS400 but not able to insert that into my destination table. At run time task Fails with the error mentioned below.
I have configured Data links tab inside the OLEDB connection manager also, but when tried to set a default library it gives me error. : "Error code :CWBZZ5042" - ( catalog is invalid ) but it does exist.
Is there some settings that needs to be done from AS400 side or SQL Server side to view the available libray and its tables ?
Can some one help me on the same.

Hi when i am using OLDB Command for Update Existing Records the Follwing ERror Code I am getting . Any one pls help me on this one.
1)[DTS.Pipeline] Error: The ProcessInput method on component "OLE DB Command 1" (9282)
failed with error code 0xC0202009. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method.
The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.

A little background first. I have a header table and a detail table in my staging area/ods. I need to join them together to flatten them out for load. The Detail Table is pretty deep - approx 100 million rows.
If I use the setting (table or view) and set the table name (say, the detail table), the package starts up nicely. But if I switch the OLE DB Source to using a SQL Statement and then join the tables in the SQL, then the Pre-Execute phase of the package takes a VERY long time. I have waited as long as 30 minutes for this phase to complete, but it never finished.
Another twist...If I take the join select statement out of the OLEDB Source and put it in a view on the server, then swith the OLE DB Source to look at the view using the (table or view) mode, then the package gets through the Pre-Execute phase just fine.
Can someone go into detail as to what the Pre-Execute phase does and why a deep table might make it take a long time? I know already that the pre-execute phase caches the lookups, but not much else.
Any help?

Hi,
I have an Integration Services project which creates a flat file report from Analysis Services, I'm using an OLE DB as data source and running an Openquery in the SQL statement.
the problem is that Integration services runs the query twice before getting the data into the flat file. I know this because the query runs two times in Profiler, and because the same query takes half the time when run in Management Studio.
Integration Services is running the whole query when validating. how can I disable this validation or better make it validate properly.

Hi,
Quick question on how SSIS handles queries from Data Source in a Data Flow. I noticed that when I run a particular query from Query Analyzer it takes forever. But, when I run the same query in SSIS data source in a data flow. The query results are immediate.
The query plan is already cached in SQL.
Is this just something which I am seeing incorrect or is there some bit of optimization in there in SSIS. As per my understanding SSIS does not optimize the source query.

Slow OLEDB Source in Data Flow
Hi All,
I have a simple data flow task, composed of only an OLEDB Source, a Conditional Split, and two Execute SQL statements (both insert statements, one after the other). When I run my package in Visual Studio for debugging, I noticed that after executing around ~9800 in the first and another ~9800 records in the second insert statements, the OLEDB Source will take around 3 or 4 minutes to fetch another set of ~9800 records. I have set the DefaultBufferMaxRows property of the Data Flow to 10000. My query to retrieve those 700,000 records runs for about 2-3 mins to finish (which I think should be decent enough). Is this an expected behavior of SSIS? The expected number of records to be retrieved is 700,000, and it takes forever to finish the transfer of these records. Please help
