SSIS Package Failing As A Job, But Getting Successful When Run As Package
Nov 6, 2007
when i run the job using network service account credentials job is failing. But when i run the package individually, it is tasting success. when it runs as job, this is the error message i am getting
SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed.
I have changed to 32-Bit run time and ran the excel package, even then it is failing...i tried to use my credentials (i am admin on the box), even then it is failing...please suggest

Hey, I've a few jobs which call SSIS packages. If I run the SSIS package, it runs fine but if I try to run the job which calls this package, it fails. Can someone help me troubleshoot this issue? None of my jobs that call an SSIS package work. All of them fail.
Thank you

Hi,
I have created a simple SSIS package using BIDS which does data copy from SQL Server to a excel file
I'm able to execute it using dtexec command locally connecting to the remote db server.
We have a file shared server where we are keeping the dtsx files.
Our DB server is located on another server.
We have another file shared server where Tidal agent is installed and we have created a batch file which has the dtsexec command and this batch is kept here.
Now when I create a job and run it it gives us the following outputCode: 0xC0014019
Source: tidal_jobtest
Description: The connection manager "dbserver.database.db_user" will not acquire a connection because the package OfflineMode property is TRUE. When the OfflineMode is TRUE, connections cannot be acquired.
End Error
Error: 2007-05-04 09:09:58.06
Code: 0xC020801C
Source: Data Flow Task OLE DB Source [1]
Description: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "dbserver.database.db_user" failed with error code 0xC0014019. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed.
End Error
Error: 2007-05-04 09:09:58.06
Code: 0xC004701A
Source: Data Flow Task DTS.Pipeline
Description: component "OLE DB Source" (1) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC020801C.
End Error
I have checked the SSIS package properties and the offline mode property is set to false but still i get the same error.
Also Can anyone let me know how to check whether we are using 32bit or 64bit drivers in connection or for dtsexec command
Please help me on this
regards
Prasad

I have an SSIS package authored in SSDT for VS 2013 that cancels itself immediately after validation completes and execution commences. This behavior occurs when executed either in VS 2013 or from within SQL Server. No error messages are thrown in either the debug window or the log output (log is capturing everything). The only thing that occurs differently on this package as compared to another package I am able to execute successfully is that a command line window briefly flashes when the package cancels itself—but it is gone so fast I cannot read it. The last several lines of the debug output are as follows:
-----------------
Information: 0x40043006 at Merge Info, SSIS.Pipeline: Prepare for Execute phase is beginning.
Information: 0x40043007 at Merge Info, SSIS.Pipeline: Pre-Execute phase is beginning.
Information: 0x402090DC at Merge Info, All Users CSV [2]: The processing of file "C:...AllUsers.csv" has started.
Information: 0x400490F4 at Merge Info, Lookup Org [47]: Lookup Org has cached 957 rows.
Information: 0x400490F5 at Merge Info, Lookup Org [47]: Lookup Org has cached a total of 26719 rows.
[Code] ....
What circumstances an SSIS package would cancel itself without throwing any errors?

I have an SSIS Package which Retreives Data using a  SQL Query like belowÂ
select  a.* from dbo.test a (nolock)
JOIN dbo.test1 b (nolock)
ON a.DetailsId = b.DetailsId
JOIN dbo.test c (nolock) on c.DetailsLineId = b.DetailsLineId
where convert(date,c.CpPlacedDate)>?
and convert(date,c.CpPlacedDate) Â < convert(date,GETDATE())Â
and c.PartnerCode in ('akakak07')
The CpPlacedDate DataType is Datetime. After the Successfull Execution of SSIS Package the final output results in destination is lesser than source. Â
The Maximum of cpplaceddate in the Destination for a particular date is '2015-06-13 23:46:08.923'
The Maximum of cpplaceddate in the Source for a particular date is '2015-06-13 23:59:14.873'Â
I am missing 16 records in between this time Gap.

Hi:
I have scheduled a SQL JOB (SSIS Package), eventhough the validation comes back as success, the job actually fails. I have configured the job to write to Windows Application Log, but How do i configure the Step(SSIS Package) to write errors to windows application log. I would like to find out why its failing, and I cant seem to find it? I am guessing I would have to setup Logging - Windows Event Log, but how do I configure it, any advice would be helpful. thanks.

I have 3 SSIS packages I had in a project and exported and scheduled via an SQL Agent job. 2 are working great and one is failing. I have noticed on this one its also having issues in BIDS. It runs sucessfully once then next day when I go in it fails. If I just go into the Data flow and open up the SQL Destimation and then hit ok and try re-running it works. It is like there is something that it doesn't remember.
Same thing happens in SQL Agent if before I promote I go into SQl destination editor hit ok save then
create my build run it via agent job it works 1st time but fails on the following time. I don't see anything different between this SSIS and the others but there must be something.
All of these are simple copy data from as/400 to SQL server with some data conversions.
Here is the error msg I am receiving.

I found a similar thread posted under the same title as this by dba123. Unfortunately, his solution does not match my problem.
I have a SSIS package that will run fine in debug mode, will run fine when published to the server when I right click and execute it. However, when I run it through a job, either scheduled or running the job manually, the job fails. There is an entry in the servers application log telling me that "login failed for user xxxxx" where xxxxx is the name of SQL login that I am using. I know that the login works (logged in manually to the server via management studio, and it runs fine when I run it manually). Both connection managers are SQL, no flat files or other data source types. All the commands are T-SQL. The SQL Agent has full database access to both servers that the connection manager connects to - and its NOT the profile that is reporting as failing - it is a domain account.
This is totally bizzare - ANY help would be appreciated.

I am having an issue with a job that runs a SSIS package that moves data from a transactional system to a data warehouse database.. The problem is that I have Log Shipping running to this database every 30 minutes which disconnects the users from the database so the transaction log can be restored. This is causing the job to fail. Is there a way in the job that runs to have it wait for the database to come on line or not fail because there is no connection? This job is a master job that runs multiple SSIS packages.
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
I have a problem with an Access db
connection in my package when run by SQL Agent. I have problem running a job with my package so i used the
log and found out that when i change the connection property of the
access connection manager in my package to a local Access file on my
machine, it works just fine but if i change the connection to that of
an Access db on my Y drive (which has been set up on my machine), it
doesnt execute. I checked the security property of the network folder
in which the access db exist and I do have rights. That is to
say, i dont know why it cannot access it then. The funny part is that
when i run the packae in SSIS (VS.NET) or Intergration services in
Managment studio, it runs just fine but when i execute the job through
Sql Server Agent, it generates the following error:

ocan_conn is the name of my connection object to the access db in my package.
Is there anything Im missing.

I am building a package that will be used to transfer data from Access 2000 to SQL 2005. For development purposes, the first thing I do is search for my SQL database. If it is there, I drop and recreate it. If I run the package once, it runs fine, . After that, I get the message that the database is in use and can not be deleted. I do not have Mgmt Studio open, so the only thing that could have a connection is the BI Studio. The only way I can seem to clear it, is to close and reopen BI Studio and the package. To make matters worse, it does not happen all the time. So sometimes I can run the package as many times as I would like, until it chokes, and then I get to start all over again. Has anyone else seen something like this, or am I missing something in the package and/or task settings? Please let me know.
Thanks,

I deployed my SSIS package to SQL Server 2005.
I have done the following:
1) Gave the sql agent account permissions to the msdb database and other databases
2) Checked the paths for "Data Sources" under properties of my agent in the SSIS properties
3) Set the authentification to Windows and used the sql agent account (a domain account that I setup) to run the agent. I also tried my login. So it's not a permission issue, because I do not get permission errors...it's past this.
What works:
1) Other SQL Agent packages...they are not running an SSIS package, just SQL
2) Running the SSiS package by right-clicking on it in Management Sudio. No errors found in the execution and the package does it's intended function
3) Package runs fine with absolutely no errors in VS 2005
What doesn't work:
1) My agent that points to my SSIS package. All this agent does is run that package. When I run the agent, I get a minimal error message in the job history logs stating the following error message:
03/09/2006 12:49:58,Run EN Process,Error,0,BG-22SQL,Run EN Process,(Job outcome),,The job failed. The Job was invoked by User domainmy_account. The last step to run was step 1 (Run EN SSIS Package).,00:00:02,0,0,,,,0

I'm at a bit of a loss. I've written a package that has about a dozen data flow tasks and each one loads data from text files into tables in a db. It's possible that some of the fields in the text files may have data that would need to be truncated upon insert into the db.
In the data flows, I've set the fields in the data sources I know this could happen to to ignore truncation errors. When I run this within BI Studio, everything works fine. I then loaded the package into the SSIS store on the db server and if I attempt to run it from the SSIS store or if a job executes it, the package appears to be failing because of these truncation errors that I've told it to ignore.
Am I missing something? Thanks!

Hi all,
Im not really sure if this is a PHP or and SQL problem but here goes.
Im using MSSQL and have developed a webpage that enables users to run various PACKAGES manually, however I need to display if the package has been successfully run.
Is there a system table that logs package information or is there a PHP function that I can use.
Thanks
P.s I know there are some system tables with the information for jobs but I do not want to create a job for each package.

Hi
I am using a XML source and an oldedb destination to load an XML file into a database, the XML and corresponding XSD are provided by a different system and I dont have any control on them.
In the data flow I can see all the tables in the schema and I can map the columns, however when I run the package it validates fine, and then completes without going into the execution mode, its all green but doesnt load any data. Its weird and I cannot figure out if it is an XML or XSD problem, any idea?

I have a SSIS job, one of the last steps it performs is to execute a SQL 2000 DTS package. This has to be done as a SQL 2000 DTS package as it is performing rebuilds of SQL 2000 Analysis Services dimensions and cubes. We've found that when the DTS fails the SSIS job is happily completing showing as a success, we would prefer to know it went wrong.
As far as I'm aware SSIS merely starts the DTS off and doesn't care about it's result. I've taken a look in to turning on the logging for the execute DTS package and thought that the ExecuteDTS80PackageTaskTaskResult would give me the answer I need...but is merely written to the log not available as an event-handler. It also looks like it is not safe to put a SQL task in as the next item to go look at the SQL 2000 system tables to look at the log for the DTS package as the SSIS documentation warns that the DTS package can continue to run after the execute DTS package task has ended.
Ideally I want any error raised within the DTS package to cascade up to be an error in the SSIS job, I can then handle it appropriately. I cannot find a way to do this. Is there a way?
If not, can anyone suggest how in the remainder of the SSIS tasks I can be sure that the DTS has completed before I start any other tasks that will check for the SQL 2000 log of its execution?

But when i try to execute the packahe in Sql Server 2005 Standard edition, by invoking the package through .Net console application the status of the package is failure.
Can any one help me how to over come this problem.

Hi All,
I am in the process of moving from a 32-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise (9.0.3054) to a 64-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise (9.0.3054 with 4 CPUs and 8GB of memory on Win 2003 SP2) and the process has been very frustrating to say the least. I am having a problem with packages that I created on my 64-bit SQL Server. I am importing a few tables from the 32-SQL Server into the 64-bit SQL Server using the Task --> Import to create the package.
Sometimes when I am creating a package I get the following error in a message box:
SQL Server Import and Export Wizard
The SSIS Runtime object could not be created. Verify that DTS.dll is available and registered. The wizard cannot continue and it will terminate.
Additional information: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. (System.Windows.Forms)
Other times when I run a package that has run successfully before I get the following error:
Faulting application dtexecui.exe, version 9.0.3042.0, stamp 45cd726d, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000, debug? 0, fault address 0x025d23f0.
Other times I get this error message:
.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.1433 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (79FFEE24) (80131506)
And still other times
The package appears to hang when running. By this I mean that the Package Execution Progress shows progress up to a point then it just stops. (The package takes about 17 seconds to run normally) CPU usage is at 1% and the package cannot be stopped.
I have deleted and re-created the package several times and I have also re-installed the service pack on the SQL Server (9.0.3054) but that did not help.
Does anyone have any other suggestions to try?
Thanks.

I would like to standardize SSIS development so that developers all start with the same basic template. I have set it up so it is an available template ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908018 ) but I would like it to be the default when a new project or package is created. Is this an option?

Hi there
We have a SSIS run which runs as follows
The master package has a configuration file, specifying the connect strings
The master package passes these connect-strings to the child packages in a variable
Both master package and child packages have connection managers, setup to use localhost. This is done deliberately to be able to test the packages on individual development pc€™s.
We do not want to change anything inside the packages when deploying to test, and from test to production. All differences will be in the config files (which are pretty fixed, they very seldom change). That way we can be sure that we can deploy to production without any changes at all.
The package is run from the file system, through a job-schedule.
We experience the following when running on a not default sql-server instance (called dkms5253uedw)
Case 1:
The master package starts by executing three sql-scripts (drop foreign key€™s, truncate tables, create foreign key€™s). This works fine.
The master package then executes the first child package. We then in the sysdtslog get:
Error - €œcannot connect to database xxx€?
Info - €œpackage is preparing to get connection string from parent €¦€?
The child package then executes OK, does all it€™s work, and finish. Because there has been an error, the master package then stops with an error.
Case 2:
When we run exactly the same, but with the connection strings in the config file pointing to the default instance (dkms5253), the everything works fine.
Case 3:
When we run exactly the same, again against the dkms5253uedw instance, but now with the exact same databases defined in the default instance, it also works perfect.
Case 4:
When we then stop the sql-server on the default instance, the package faults again, this time with
Error - €œtimeout when connect to database xxx€?
Info - €œpackage is preparing to get connection string from parent €¦€?
And the continues as in the first case
From all this we conclude, that the child package tries to connect to the database before it knows the connection string it gets passed in the variable from the master package. It therefore tries to connect to the default instance, and this only works if the default instance is running and has the same databases defined. As far as we can see, the child package does no work against the default instance (no logging etc.).
We have tried delayed validation in the packages and in the connection managers, but with the same results (error).
So we are desperately hoping that someone can help us solve this problem.
Thanx,
/Nils M - Copenhagen

hi,
I am interested in Passing value from a child Package variable to the Parent package that calls it in ssis.
I am able to call the Child package using the execute package task and use Configurations to pass values from the parent variable to the child, but I am not able to pass the value from the child to the parent.
I have a variable called datasetId in both the parent and child. it gets computed in the child and needs to be passed to the parent...
Any suggestions?
Thanks for any help in advance..

Deployed Report having SSIS package as source do not work when Indirect Package configuration is used in ETL package. It seems ETL package when called/executed from Report manager does not recognize environment variable to pick up the dtsconfig file.
The Report works when Direct package configuration is used to same dtsconfig file.
What could be the reason? Any solution for this? This will cause our build/deployment to QA and Prod very difficult.

I have two SSIS packages in a project, one calling the other. The parent package works fine in my local mechine. After they are deployed to the production, I schedeul jobs to run the packages in the SqlServer. The child package works fine if I run it alone, but the parent package could not find its child package if I run the parent package . As I checked, all xml config files and the connection string pointing to the child package were set correctly. It seems the parent package did not use the xml config file. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am making use of the DtUtil tool to deploy my package to SQL Server.
Following is my configuration:
32-bit machine and 32-bit named instance of Yukon.
I have some package variables which need to be set in the code.
Previously I did it as follows:
Set the package variables in the code. For example:
pkgFile.Variables["User::DestinationServerName"].Value = <myvalue>
Deploy the package as follows:
applnObj.SaveToSqlServer(pkgFile, null,
destinationServer, null, null);
Here the package was successfully deployed and when i open those packages using BIDS, I am able to see that the variables are set to the values as doen in teh code.
Because of oen problem I am not using SaveToSQLServer method. So I switched to DTUtil tool.
Now I am doing it this way:
Set the package variables as before.
Deploy the package to SQL Server using DTUtil tool.
Now is the problem:
The package is successfully deployed. But the variables are not set to the value that I have specified in the code.
I also tried DTexec utility to set the package variable. Even that does n't work.
Can anyone help me out? Is there any alternate method to set package variables?
Thanks,
Sandhya

Hi,
In our project we have two SSIS package.
And there is a task (Execute SSIS package) in First package that calls the execution of second package.
I m continuously receiving an error "Failed to decrypt protected XML node "PackagePassword" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available."
As we are running first package by job, job runs successfully logging above error
The protection level of second package is set to "EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey"
Can anybody please suggest how to handle it?

I have recently created several DTS Packages and scheduled them to run nightly. The Packages complete succesfully when executed from the DTS Designer. However, when they are executed by a scheduled job, the following error results....
DTSRun: Loading... DTSRun: Executing... Error: -2147220499 (800403ED); Provider Error: 0 (0) Error string: No Steps have been defined for the transformation Package. Error source: Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package Help file: sqldts.hlp Help context: 700. Process Exit Code 1. The step failed.
This packages exist and are running via scheduled jobs on another server. Does anyone know what is causing this error????
thanks!
