I have Transfered my dts packages from sql 2000 to sql2005 by directly migrating the rows from Sysdtspackages table on sqlserver 2000 to Sysdtspackages table on Sqlserver 2005.Now im able to see all my DTS of sql2000 in sqlserver 2005 Management studio under MANAGMENT--->LEGACY--->Data transforamtion services and i have all the corresponding records in sysdtspackages table of MSDB database on SQLSERVER 2005.
Now i have to schedule a job for executing these dts packages. In the job schedule window, when i try to select my dts packages on the SSIS package store for the package source and go to SSIS --->MSDB, IM NOT ABLE TO FIND MY DTS PACKAGES? WHERE ARE MY DTS PACKAGES GONE. HOW CAN I SCHEDULE.
i can find another table by name 'sysdtspackages90' on msdb database.do i have to migrate the data from sysdtspackages to sysdtspacakges90 ?
We have just started using SQL 2005 and released our first few projects to prodcution. We are currently using msdb storage for SSIS packages in production using the 'rely on server storage' for protection level and separating each subject areas by folders under msdb in the management studio.
However some of our DBA's feel that this is not the right approach and we should be storing as XML.
Anyone has any recommendation for either or considerations to be taken when deciding what storage to use?
Somehow I have an impression this can be done. Somehow I tried myself by modifying MsDtsSrvr.ini.xml to point it to network UNC share, but it didn't work for me. It gave me an error
"Failed to retrieve data for this request (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum) Additional Information: The storage localtion for the folder 'File System' cannot be accessed. (MsDtsSrvr)"
I checked my UNC permission, and I even allow full access from "everyone", but it still does not work.

We have a scenario to process last created/modified files from a location using SSIS package , eventhough the folder contains multiple files with same name and extension.

I created a SSIS package to extract data from a flat file source and load them into a table in a data base. After I created the package i checked it in to source control(perforce).
But the problem is once a month new flat source file comes and data should be updated. Once the new flat file comes, is there anyway that SSIS package can identify the path of the flat file and execute the package automatically? In Flat file source only the data will be changed. Not location or data type or anything. Can i use parameters to do that?
We are trying to import data from a .csv file which sits on shared location. This package runs fine when we run it from designer. but we are having problem when we do it at run time (accessing it through a service). Same package runs fine if that file is on same server.
Is any one gone through this issue before? i appreciate any help in resolving this issue.
We are running SQL Server 2000 w SP4 on a 2 node active/passive Windows 2003 w SP1 configuration. We are presented with 2 150GB LUNs and 1 600MB on particular SAN that does not belong to us. M: and N: drives are the datadrives and Q: is the quorum.
We now have our own SAN and we will be using it for the SQL cluster data storage. The SAN administrator stated that he will present me with 2 150GB LUNs and 1 600MB…pretty much the same configuration.
How will I be able to move all my data and configure the cluster to the new SAN?
I have an ssis package that moves data from a new csv file in a share location to sql server database table. However I need to get this agent job triggered whenever a new csv file gets added to the shared location.
What is a best strategy to do this keeping in mind that while package is running and two new csv files come in and package shd copy data from both the files.
I am in process of automating a cube migration from SSMS 2008 to SSMS 2012.
In this process iam deleting the existing cube databases and restoring them on a different location on the same server. When i try to execute the restore command or restore using UI i get a wierd error message like this below:

We have an existing OLD System in SQL Server 2000 DTS Packages. The Whole application runs on DTS. There are several Packages which are called from a Master Package. Each Child packages have their own Global Variables. Most of them are the File Location variables to have the Source Location of the Input Data, mainly from the Excel Files. Now, even if the Global Variables are there to change whenever they want to change the Locations of the Files, they have to goto each child package and change the variable themselves. To resolve this issue, they want a configuration File (INI) / Table which would store those Variables. My thought is to read from that File/Table and Update all the packages' global variables through an ActiveX Script as the First Step of the Master package. That would eliminate the need of changing anything in the existing System. But the Problem is the management (PM / DBAs / Team members) have different views to store the Configuration data. 1. Some wants it into a Different Database, having one table for this application so in future they can also add another table for some other application. 2. Some wants to store it in a Table in the Same Database of this Application. 3. Some wants to save it as a INI file.
As i'm the one who's going to really implement it, they have asked me to research for a best solution out there.
so I request to help me to decide which is a good solution and why.
I am new to the SQL Server platform - coming from a Solaris/Informix/DataStage environment. In DataStage there is a function called a "Hash" file that acts as a temporary holding place for data. This hash file can be used to (1) perform lookups on tables and (2) perform calculations and manipulations before the data is populated into the destination (i.e table, flat file, etc.) Also by using this hash file, the processing time is faster.
Is there such a function within SSIS that can temporarily store the data and allow transformations before it is loaded into the destination?
Have written a SSIS package which in turn runs a couple of child packages via the Execute Package control flow task. All is fine if I use a Location of File System for the task. However when I deploy to production I'd like the main package and it's child packages to be under SQL Server.
I can set the Execute Package task location to SQL Server after copying my packages into a development SQL box and again it works. However as it's now executing the package from SQL rather than wihin BIDS it doesn't give me the debugging/flow information for the Child package when I run the parent package. It's also a bit of a pain because even though all the packages are part of the same solution if I make a change to a child package I've got to remember to re-save a copy of it to the SQL database.
Have looked into seeing if I can make the location field for the Execute package task configurable so that I could run as a File System package within BIDS but as a SQL package in production but the Location field doesn't seem to be exposed as a property for the Execute Package task so can't set this as an expression or from a configuration.
Does anyone have any advice on using the Executing package task for child packages which are stored in SQL.
I'm trying to create a package that copyes file from one folder to another. I have created a package configuration for the destination file connection manager and specified that i set the connection string with it. Now when i deploy the package into sql server it uses the package configuration file from this location : C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSPackages . This is not the location of the package configuration file i told the package to use.
when i change the destination folder for the package in the "c:program files ...." the sql server agent picks up the changes, but when i specify the change in the package configuration file that i specified for the package to use, it gets ignored ???
Previously this worked allways... i dont know what i could have possibly done wrong. Except when i deploy the package it asks for the location of the package dependencies which points to "C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSPackages". I been to course about ssis and there never was any discussion that package dependencies should be changed, nor ahve i encoutered anywhere in the net that this property should be changed ?
Am i wrong to assume, that when i create the package configuration for the package, that the place where i tell it to be is not in fact the place where the sql server agent integration services job looks for it ?

If i delete the package configuration file from "C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSPackages" it still doesnt use the package configuration file that i have specified in the package configurations when i created the package ???

The package looks for the corrent package configuration file when i test it in the bids, but when i deploy it into sql server then the confguration is read from the "C:Program Files"....
In short thank you Microsoft for making a product that actually works the way the users wants it to, is simple to use and is simple to debug, like i can totally read from the logs, event manager or just someplace else that i have yet to discover the reason for the package for reading the freaking config file from the wrong location... not. I have only spend like 6 hours today trying to make it work but it simply doesnt want to co-operate...
My parent package calls packages stored in the file system. While developing, I would like to call packages in the project bin directory. In production, I would like to call packages in a different development. Is this possible?
I can change the package connection string with an expression that refers to user variables PackageLocation1 or PackageLocation2. I would like to do this automatically. Is this something that should be done at deployment time? Or is there a run time value that I can check and conditionally use PackageLocation1 or PackageLocation2?
Development and deployment is done on the same server, so the same enivronment variable value would be used in an indirect configuration. Same thing applies to a file configuration.
Another question: Is it possible to set up a different Installation Folder for use during deployment? Every time I deploy, I have to navigate the folders, you can't even paste in the folder name.
Hey, I've a few jobs which call SSIS packages. If I run the SSIS package, it runs fine but if I try to run the job which calls this package, it fails. Can someone help me troubleshoot this issue? None of my jobs that call an SSIS package work. All of them fail.
How to implement distinct storage tiers on SQL Remote BLOB Storage (RBS)?
I want to use this SQL Feature to move files(images, videos, pdf files) from a database to a distinct database dedicated to RBS. Then I want to have several storage tiers, where objects will be saved and moved according access frequency. Old data will be arquived in cheap storage, but it must be always accessible if needed.

There are two options to specify the subpackage location (SQL Server or file location). I'd like to know how I can specify a variable name that points to the file location so I avoid hard coding the file location which could change during production installation.

How to load files with similar format , from two different locations into same database with same ssis.

Currently we have one ssis which loads and process files from C:LoadFilesCust1 only. we have to modify the existing package it to load files from Location 2 (D:LoadFilescust2) as well. Also while loading, the ssis should assign a value to existing column CustID depending upon the file name. File names always start with APP_ in first location. VDD_ in second location
Assign CUSTID as 100 if file name starts with APP_ Assign CUSTID as 200if file name starts with VDD_
I am using the "XML Source Adapter" in an SSIS package. I notice that although you can specify the XML filename as an expression, the XSD appears to have to be a fixed file path. This is a problem for me since the path for the XSD is different in my development than it will be in production (in production it's on drive E:, which I don't have).
I'd like to have the file location specified in the config file, but since I can't make it an expression how can I do that?
Also, since they don't have Connection Managers I can't switch DelayValidation on.
how do I copy a folder from an FTP location using the FTP task in SSIS. Currently, I can only move the files in the folder one after the other but I want to copy the folder at once.
I have installed Office 2007 Beta 2 and SQL Server 2005 at my system.
I made 2 packages (C:Package.dtsx, C:Package1.dtsx). I am executing Package1 inside Package.dtsx using Executing Package Task.
In package1.dtsx there is some configuration that is coming at runtime(For each loop container having some file connections) , so I have put DelayValidation property of this package to True, but that did not work when I called this package from Package1.dtsx, then I found one workaround, I changed the ExecuteOutOfProcess of ExecutePacakge task to True,
Now the problem is that before installing Office 2007 the both were executing fine (it was taking some time in starting the second package because of OutOfProcess execution).
After installing Office 2007 I get the following error while executing the second package from first package.
Error: Error 0x800703E6 while loading package file "C:Package1.dtsx". Invalid access to memory location. .
This problem comes whenever the I execute the package having OutOfProcess property to true.
Is there any workaround for this, or I am wrong somewhere.
I am a Windows developer for the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server (TSMS) product. Our product installation is built with InstallShield and uses the Windows Installer.
On a new installation of Windows 2003 x64 Storage Server R2, at a customer's site, the TSMS product fails to install. The install of the OS has version 3.01.400.3959 of the Windows Installer and I see no newer version that installs.
Part of our product is 32 bit (console) and another part is x64 (server). When installing I can see that the install's default is being redirected/reset to C:Program Files (x86)TivoliTSM after it is explicitly set by a custom action to ..Program Files.. . I further observe that our custom actions to write 64 bit registry entries are being refused.

We have tried four versions of our TSMS spanning many changes but the install acts the same. This does not happen on any other Windows OS we test on but we do not test on Windows 2003 Storage Server R2 being that it is an OEM product. We did test on Windows server 2003 R2 x64 and do not see this problem.
Do you have any suggestions on how to tackle this problem? I have full installation traces but can only see that the registry work is being refused. I can't see why.

I have a SSIS job, one of the last steps it performs is to execute a SQL 2000 DTS package. This has to be done as a SQL 2000 DTS package as it is performing rebuilds of SQL 2000 Analysis Services dimensions and cubes. We've found that when the DTS fails the SSIS job is happily completing showing as a success, we would prefer to know it went wrong.
As far as I'm aware SSIS merely starts the DTS off and doesn't care about it's result. I've taken a look in to turning on the logging for the execute DTS package and thought that the ExecuteDTS80PackageTaskTaskResult would give me the answer I need...but is merely written to the log not available as an event-handler. It also looks like it is not safe to put a SQL task in as the next item to go look at the SQL 2000 system tables to look at the log for the DTS package as the SSIS documentation warns that the DTS package can continue to run after the execute DTS package task has ended.
Ideally I want any error raised within the DTS package to cascade up to be an error in the SSIS job, I can then handle it appropriately. I cannot find a way to do this. Is there a way?
If not, can anyone suggest how in the remainder of the SSIS tasks I can be sure that the DTS has completed before I start any other tasks that will check for the SQL 2000 log of its execution?
I have developed an SSIS package for ETL purpose. I am invoking the SSIS package through .Net console application by referencing the ManagedDTS Assembly. I am able to execute the package in Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition and it runs fine till completion.
But when i try to execute the packahe in Sql Server 2005 Standard edition, by invoking the package through .Net console application the status of the package is failure.
Can any one help me how to over come this problem.
I am in the process of moving from a 32-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise (9.0.3054) to a 64-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise (9.0.3054 with 4 CPUs and 8GB of memory on Win 2003 SP2) and the process has been very frustrating to say the least. I am having a problem with packages that I created on my 64-bit SQL Server. I am importing a few tables from the 32-SQL Server into the 64-bit SQL Server using the Task --> Import to create the package.
Sometimes when I am creating a package I get the following error in a message box:
SQL Server Import and Export Wizard
The SSIS Runtime object could not be created. Verify that DTS.dll is available and registered. The wizard cannot continue and it will terminate.
Additional information: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. (System.Windows.Forms)
Other times when I run a package that has run successfully before I get the following error:
Faulting application dtexecui.exe, version 9.0.3042.0, stamp 45cd726d, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000, debug? 0, fault address 0x025d23f0.
The package appears to hang when running. By this I mean that the Package Execution Progress shows progress up to a point then it just stops. (The package takes about 17 seconds to run normally) CPU usage is at 1% and the package cannot be stopped.
I have deleted and re-created the package several times and I have also re-installed the service pack on the SQL Server (9.0.3054) but that did not help.
I would like to standardize SSIS development so that developers all start with the same basic template. I have set it up so it is an available template ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908018 ) but I would like it to be the default when a new project or package is created. Is this an option?
I would like to fetch the data flow component name while package is executing. Since system variable named [System::SourceName] only fetches name of the control flow tasks? Is there a way to capture them?
