SSIS Package Will Not Run In BIDS Error: 0xC0202009
Dec 12, 2007
I have developed a simple SSIS Package that will export data from an AS400 iSeries server to a flat file. When I try to debug the package I receive this error. I have tried to change the security level of the package to EncryptAllWithPassword and specified a password. For some reason the password for the connection to the AS400 is not being retained. when I enter the password the following error disappears when I try to debug the package the error returns.
Does anyone know how to correct this? Thanks in advance for your help.
Things to also know:
I am using a Native OLE DBIBM AS400 OLE DB Provider w/user name and password (Allow saving password checked) Test Connection succeeded.
I am using a OLE DB Source to extract the data with Data Access Mode of Table or View. When I try to select a table I am prompted from the AS400 to enter password. Then I can see the tables.
I can select the columns I need and click OK to save.

I cannot execute a package by using Execute Package task. I supplied sa credentials to connection manager, and it shows the list of Packages on SQL Server but when running the task it says
Error 0xC0202009 while preparing to load the package. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x%1!8.8X!.
I have an SSIS project that is deployed to a sql server.
The setup of the project is a parent dtsx package, and many child packages.
The parent executes each of the chid packages.
If I run the parent from BIDS, calling the children that are on the SQL Server, it works fine.
If I execute it from SQL Management Console running on my laptop, connected to the SQL Server, It works.
If I remote into the SQL Server and run it from SQL Agent or SQL Management Console, the job fails with the error:
Error 0xC0202009 while preparing to load the package. SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x%1!8.8X!. for each of the children.
This has quite suddenly stopped working, and I cannot figure out why it will work being executed from my laptop, but not on the server.
HI I'm still in the middle of this 2000 to 2005 64 bit migration!! I have managed to create an oledb connection to my informix db. Within the data flow I wanted to create a simple data pump from my infdormix db to S2K5 db.
Now in the OLEDB source I have done a select froma table to which I can view. I also set the always use default code page to true.
On the error box I get
[OLE DB Source [1]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. I'm working on a fairly straight forward data transfer package and have found that the package runs dramatically faster when I run the package inside BIDS than with DTExec. When I run the package on the server using debug in BIDS, the job completes 1 million rows in around 6 minutes. When I run DTExec with the same package on the same server it is much slower and the package takes roughly 25 minutes to complete.
I know this sounds crazy and that it's supposed to be the other way around with DTExec running much faster, but I'm stumped as to what could be causing the issue. The machine this is running on is a two processor, dual core CPU with GB of RAM and I'm using terminal server to login and create the package with BIDS on SQL Server 2005 SP2.
The main feature of this package is a Foreach container that uses an ADO record set to loop over a set of values from a control table. There are a large number of iterations so the package loops frequently, but the data flow task is fairly simple and uses an OLEDB source and OLEDB destination to transfer data between two SQL Server 2005 databases.
The package works in either BIDS and DTExec, but I'm really puzzled why it would run so much faster inside BIDS?
2 SQL Execute Task, One Loop container, 2 Data Flow tasks, 1 Foreach loop container, 1 ftp task. The data flow tasks has 1 oledb source, 1 flat file source, 1 row count transformation, 1 recordset destination and 1 oledb destination.
When I load the package into BIDS it takes 125 MB of memory and then everything is slow, the properties panel slides in slowly and exists slowly. The object is the packages are not painted properly. to make changes and run takes lot of time.
Am I doing anything wrong here? Why is it consuming so much of memory?
I have a SSIS package that contains a DTS 2000 package in it. The DTS 2000 package imports data into several tables from an ODBC data source. When I execute the package through BIDS, no problems. Everything works great. I am now trying to execute the SSIS package in my stored procedure & it gives me the following error: Error: 2007-01-30 11:54:24.06 Code: 0x00000000 Source: Populate IncrTables Description: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040427): Execution was canceled by user. at DTS.PackageClass.Execute() at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.Exec80PackageTask.Exec80PackageTask.ExecuteThread() End Error
I did a search for this & found KB 904796. It had the exact error message but I don't believe my packages uses 2000 metadata services. Just to be safe, I reinstalled the backward compatibility features & the DTS 2000 tools on the server. That still did not fix anything. I found another forum that suggested loading the DTS 2000 package internally, which I did & it did not fix anything. I am using a password for the protection level so that is not causing my issue. Does anyone else have any suggestions as to what I might be able to try?
SQL 2005 Dev Ed SP1 & post SP1 hotfixes installed Win 2k3 server Thanks! John
I have an SSIS package with around 25 lookups. Developing the package itself was slow. Now, everytime I try to load the package it takes forever and whenever I execute it I get an error.
Here are my questions:
1. Is there a way I can optimize the package? 2. Is it abnormal to have so many lookups? I am loading a dimension table with many fields and I need to look up on 25 tables to get the keys. I know one alternative is to use left joins in the source query and get the keys in the Source itself but we can have more visibility of what's happenning with Lookups. I would like to know other possibilities with lookups.
We are using SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition SP2. I have a fixed-length flat file import spec created in SQL Server Mgmt Studio using the Import wizard. I then created an Integration Sevices project in BIDS and added the existing SQL Server package created with the wizard to the project. When I try to edit the package with the SSIS designer, it does not appear to handle the package properly. That is, only some of the fields are selected (and when I select all the available fields, still only some show up in the detail pane of the Input Columns tab), the data types are incorrect, and the starting location (it's a fixed length file, remember) for each field (LineageID?) is incorrect. My understanding is that, with Workgroup Edition, there are only two ways, other than say programmatically from a VB program, to run the package: (1) by creating a SQL Agent job or from a BIDS project. I have seen a Cumulative Update package (#2) for SP2 that mentions some problems in BIDS' handling of SSIS pkgs, but the symptoms are in no way similar to this. Can anyone tell me what is going on here?? Thanks.
Running eval. edition of Sql Server Standard 2005. "Insufficient product level" error is thrown during validation phase of an OleDBCommand data flow task. This task type is not licensed in Sql Server 2005 standard? The component runs a very simple sql update statement against a one row table in Sql Server 2005.
If it works from BIDS, should it not work from dtexec.exe on the same box?
Does dtexec run under the security context of the logged in user?
I've read al lot of the post on this one. Mine seem very simiular. I create the SSIS package with the wizard and save sensitive data with password. When the SSIS wizard completes and executes the package everything works. However when I attempt to execute the package with dtexec it fails with " Source - Query [1]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "SourceConnectionOLEDB" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed. "
This even happens also when I attempt to run the package in SSIS after it was created. However in SSIS designmode I can open my query source , parse the query, and prview the data. However when I attempt to execute the package no dice. I'm sure this is a password issue but I have now idea where to fix it.
FYI,
Have tried the following. SourceConnectionOLEDB check option Allow saving of passowrd Package Exlporer / Connection Mangers/ SourceConnectionOLEDB shows password save with ******
Have Enabled package configurations with a XML file all values save to file.
I'm trying to create a simple Data transfermation. I have a flat file that came of a unix server.. it's 177 bytes wide.. thought it was 175, but when I created the flat file connector, I could see some extra characters on the end.
My output is going to be an excel spreadsheet, I only want two columns from the input. I created an oledb jet 4.0 connection. and followed instructions from here :
On my first attempt to dataflow, I ran into unicode errors and had to do this:
ran into a problem with unicode errors. went to the source for the flat file. for the output column in question changed to Unicode string [DT_WSTR].
When I run , here are the errors I get:

I have developed an SSIS package for ETL purpose. I am invoking the SSIS package through .Net console application by referencing the ManagedDTS Assembly. I am able to execute the package in Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition and it runs fine till completion.
But when i try to execute the packahe in Sql Server 2005 Standard edition, by invoking the package through .Net console application the status of the package is failure.
Can any one help me how to over come this problem.
And there is a task (Execute SSIS package) in First package that calls the execution of second package.
I m continuously receiving an error "Failed to decrypt protected XML node "PackagePassword" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available."
As we are running first package by job, job runs successfully logging above error
The protection level of second package is set to "EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey"
I have a big problem and i'm not able to find any hint on the Network.
I have a window2000 pc, VS2005,II5 and SQLServer 2005(dev edition)
I created an SSIS Package (query to DB and the result is loaded into an Excel file) that works fine.
I imported the dtsx file inside my "Stored Packages".
I would like to load and run the package programmatically on a Remote Scenario using the web services.
I created a solution with web service and web page that invoke the web service.
When my code execute: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application.LoadFromDtsServer(packagePath, ".", Nothing)
I got the Error: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsRuntimeException: The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008 "Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.
The error message doesn't help so much and there is nothing on the www to give me and advice....
We have an Access97 database with 122 tables. I try to use import and export wizard to import the data from access into SQL 2005 database. I find an interesting problem. When select all tables, the wizard give following errors:
Pre-execute (Error) Messages Error 0xc0202009: {DBD1EAB5-7865-4B89-A7BB-DDC8507D8119}: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Error 0xc004701a: Data Flow Task: component "Source 64 - PlanClasses" (5206) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC020801C. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
But if I divide importing as 2 steps: 1. import all tables before PlanClasses, it works. 2. import all tables after PlanClasses including PlanClasses, it works.
If I just import PlanClasses itself, it works, but I can not import all tables at once. Interesting thing is if I just unselect PlanClasses, it will have same error at the class right after PlanClasses. Is there size limitation when doing import at once?
When I attempt to import a table from another SQL 2005 server to mine, I recieve the following error:
- Pre-execute (Error)
MessagesError 0xc0202009: Data Flow Task: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21. An OLE DB record is available. Is there anything that I can do to try and rectify this?
I have developed a .dtsx package than runs normally from my computer. When I import it on the server and assign it to a job it always fails.
I tried also to run it directly from the server (remote desktop) and also faild. I exported the dtsx file on server and refresh the db connections and after that workd fine from the server.
Another work-around was to use windows authentication. Then runs normally from the server.
It seems that connection password is lost when importing the report on server. (The import is done in MSDB not in the filesystem)
But I can not design all the jobs on the server (work-around A) or use windows authentication (work-around B)
What is the problem and what can I do?
I have also played around with "save sensitive information" but with no results.
I get 2 errors when I run a job in sql server agent 2005 0xc0202009 and 0x80040E2. I cannot see why I am getting these errors, when I run the job with dtexec it is successful. Also when I run it in the debugger or run the executeable it is successful. But when I try to run it with the agent it fails. Any Ideas would be greatly appriciated.
I have a Data Flow Task within an SSIS package where data is pulled from a Fixed Width flat file, goes through a conditional split, and sends data either to a SQL Server 2000 table, or to another fixed width flat file.
The first condition in the conditional split checks for the following; [Column 44] + [Column 45] != "D1" . If this is true, then those rows go to a SQL Server 2000 table destination. If false, then the rows go to another flat file.
The SQL Server 2000 table has a unique nonclustered index with ignore_dup_key. From what I can tell, it looks like the step fails when a duplicate record is encountered. However, it appears that the unique records still go into the table.
When I check the 'Progress' tab of the package, the following steps seem to be suspect;
[Populate Staging [786]] Information: The final commit for the data insertion has started. [Populate Staging [786]] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Duplicate key was ignored.". [Populate Staging [786]] Information: The final commit for the data insertion has ended. [DTS.Pipeline] Error: The ProcessInput method on component "Populate Staging" (786) failed with error code 0xC0202009. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running. [DTS.Pipeline] Error: Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0202009. [DTS.Pipeline] Information: Post Execute phase is beginning.
..and..
Task 2 Isolate Suspect Records and Insert Known Good Records failed
In one case, the source flat file had 74,101 rows. Each row tested true in the conditional split, and all but one row made it into the SQL Server table. The step failed, and the 'Progess' section containted the entries mentioned above.
The Connection Manager for the SQL Server table destination uses the Native OLE DBMicrosoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.
Is the 'error' that occurs when a duplicate row is encountered causing the Data Flow task to fail, or could it be something else?
Thank you for your help. Please let me know if you need more information.
Hello,I'm using BIDS to create a package, and I need to pass in a variable value; how does this new DTS process work, in deploying the package and passing in a custom value at runtime? Thanks.
I have all the package logging tickboxes checked but in the log file I only get this: OnPreValidate,<machinename>,<account>,<packagename>,{7741AD7F-1941-4F4C-AE9D-08068C8856E4},{F6924552-600A-450B-995F-C24AB5C49FC3},6/25/2007 5:21:12 PM,6/25/2007 5:21:12 PM,0,0x,(null)
I have a SQL Server Agent job with a step to execute an SSIS package. The package has as one of it's connection managers the Connection Manager For Excel Files. When I run the job it fails every time. I have implemented logging and in the OnError event it states "The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "LOBMappingExcel" failed with error code 0xC0202009".
I've seen the previous threads on this (although maybe not all of them). However, i don't think I'm getting the error for the same reason. The full error I'm getting is:
I have a problem that's baffling me. I have a package that loads some files into the database. If I run it from BIDS, it works fine. But if I run the package from the job, I get this error:
Cannot open the datafile "D:myFoldermyFile.TXT".
It seems like a permissions issue, but the job runs under a local admin account, and not to mention, the very same package/job reads and loads files from this exact same directory, with no problems.
I am runing WinXP Pro SP2 with all current updates and also VS2005 Team Ed for Developers. VS2005 is installed on D drive as is nearly all of my development tools. SQL Server 2000 SP4 is on the C drive and just installed SQL 2005 express with advanced services to D drive. I then attempted to install the express toolkit BIDS to the D drive only to learn it's hard coded(really stupid to not check for existing VS 2005) to install on C drive only. I've gotten past the denenv.exe issue.
The issue now is when I open VS2005 with the normal shortcut or the Business Intelligence Development Studio short cut and open any project that contains Crystal Reports reports and attempt to open a report I get package load failures for ReportDesignerPackage and Datawarehouse VSIntegration Layer Package. Also get this same error if you try to now create a BIDS report project.
I thought maybe VS2005 has a search path variable in tools/options or maybe a system envirnoment variable that could be tweaked to tell VS2005 to also look in the IDE folder for the dummy VS install on the C Drive. If there is I have not discovered it yet.
Second thought was to copy the files in the IDE folder of the dummy VS install on C drive to the IDE folder where my VS2005 is actually installed. I saw a post last night by someone that had done that with apparent success. That solution seems a little suspect since the BIDS packages files are registered at the C drive paths, so you certainly don't want to delete or move those files from where they were installed.
I'm nervous about side effects on my existing VS2005 projects during development and deployment and aren't even using BIDS.
So, now the question is how does one resolve this conumdrum?
Most of my packages that I've created in BIDS will NOT run in SQL Server 2005. The simplest one that I have fails during a script task that calls external managed code. I've done all the steps outlined in "Referencing Other Assemblies...", but I'm still getting "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Here's a sample of a script that's having a problem. The line in green is the one that seems to be cause of the error. This is extremely frustrating. This code will even run from a command line console without error. Why is it so difficult to deploy one of these projects with managed code?
Code Snippet
Public Sub Main() Dim variable1 As String = DirectCast(Dts.Variables("packagevariable1").Value, String) Dim variable2 As String = DirectCast(Dts.Variables("packagevariable2").Value, String) Dim variable3 As Integer = DirectCast(Dts.Variables("packagevariable3").Value, Integer) Dim variable4 As String = DirectCast(Dts.Variables("packagevariable4").Value, String) Dim filePath As String = DirectCast(Dts.Variables("filePath").Value, String) Dim variable5 As String = DirectCast(Dts.Variables("packagevariable5").Value, String) Dim results As Boolean Dim fileGenerator As IProviderInterface Dim intFactory As integrationServiceFactory = New ProviderIntegrationServiceFactory()
I have a 7 step SSIS package that manipulates some data on a DB2 database. The package executes perfectly in Business Intelligence Development Studio. I save the package to my SSIS store and then point my scheduled task to it and it fails after about 9 seconds everytime. I have an identical job that works with a different DB2 database that works without any problem. The only difference is the database it's pointing to.
The package is executing as the same user who created it, which has sysadmin to both the SSIS store and the SQL instance the package is executing on. When I saved the package I selected "Rely on server storage roles for access control" for the protection level.
This one is driving me crazy, can't figure it out. Any idea's?
I have a SSIS package that reads data from a dump table, runs a custom script that takes date data and converts it to the correct format or nulls and formats amt fields to currency, then inserts it to a new table. The new table redirects insert errors. This process worked fine until about 3 weeks ago. I am processing just under 6 million rows, with 460,000 or so insert errors that did give error column and code.
Now, I am getting 1.5 million errors. and nothing has changed, to my knowledge. I receive the following information.
Error Code -1071607685 Error Column 0 Error Desc No status is available.
The only thing I can find for the above error code is
DTS_E_OLEDBDESTINATIONADAPTERSTATIC_UNAVAILABLE
To add to the confusion, I can not see any errors in the data written to the error table. It appears that after a certain point is reached in the processing, everything, or most records, error out.
The package runs fine if I run it by itself. Unfortunately we want to call it from another package and when we do so it fails everytime with the following error; "AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "BPCSF" failed with error code 0xC0202009." This package is calling an AS400 and pulling data from it into a staging environment. The task that is failing is 4th task on the list and is the 3rd task to call the AS400 environment. If I need to provide more information I would be happy to do so. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I have problems with executing packages in the SQL Server 2005 and before I go into the details I would like to check, if my workflow is correct.
Can someone explain me the best way to move a package from BIDS to a SQL Server? I would like to store the packages in the SQL Server.
In addition if I login to Integration Services with SQL Server Management Studio I can see in the folder "stored packages" my package but I cannot view the folder "MSDB". Ususally I receive an error message from the named pipe provider, that I could not connect to the server (I am using Windows Authentication and my login is an administrator on the SLQ Server box)
Yesterday, SQL Server 2005 SP2 was installed on our DEV Server (Windows 2003 SP1 x86) and now I cannot right-click a package in the Solutions Explorer window in BIDS and Execute Package. When I do, I get the following error
===================================
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. (Microsoft Visual Studio)
------------------------------ Program Location:
at Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Project.DtsPackagesFolderProjectFeature.ExecuteTaskOrPackage(ProjectItem prjItem, String taskPath)
I know I could do this yesterday morning pre SP2. I've attempted this with a couple of different packages and solutions, so it is probably not a corrupt package (unless now they are all corrupt). I can execute in debug mode if I open the package first and then hit Start Debugging. However this is not always an optimal solution because I sometimes have many connected packages and sometimes what gets executed is not what is expected.
All: As the subject suggests I am encountering an error while running a package through an agent. Unfortunately the error does not provide much information for me to diagnose the problem, and hence the post.
I have pasted the error below and appreciate help from anyone.
Thank you,
