I am currently going through a DTS package which I use to build my DW after changes all the connections I fired it and
"Cannot resolve the collation conflict between "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" and "Latin1_General_CI_AS" in the equal to operation.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly,
parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
Any ideas?
Does anyone know how to force a SSIS step to fail? I don’t want to export a file if no records were written.
I found this but not quite sure how to implement it:
To do this, double-click on the connector line joining 2 of your
ExecuteSQL tasks and change the "Evaluation operation:" to any of the
options that include "Expression". This enables you to enter a
boolean expression that must evaluate to true for the path to be
followed. Assuming you've got an int parameter called "sp1rtnvalue"
which must evaluate to 1 for the flow to continue; your expression
would be: @sp1rtnvalue == 1
Am I suppose to define a @sp1rtnvalue in the stored procedure that creates the file I want to monitor? Do a record count in the stored procedure. In my pkg I enter the expression @sp1rtnvalue == 1 when I run that step the expression will evaluate to false and fail?
If so where exactly do I enter the Boolean expression (@sp1rtnvalue == 1) , what tab in what dialog/wizard??

But i am calling the master package in the sql server agentjobs,the following error coming.

I've SQL statement that fail when I execute it on the server. I get the below message:
Msg 50000, Level 18, State 1, Procedure USP_GTL_Transform, Line 226
A transformation of an important table failed
When I execute the sql statement in the SSIS Control flow 'Execute SQL Task" the task succeed and paint in green. When I check in db log its still failing but only presented succeeded in the SSIS
Why the task didnt fail? how can i make it fail and paint in red?

I am likely to work on moving our ETL system from SQL server 2000 to SQL server 2005. Code is being re written. I wanted to know from anyones previous experience like what kind of activity/data can cause a package to fail. I need to check that a certain package fails and logs error to the server error log and stops. And also check that a certain package fails, logs an error to the server error logs but continues to run.
Any thoughts in this regard would be very helpful for me.

I am running SQL Server 2012 on a VM and am trying to pull data from a network drive (S: or misvnascfs0003).I can import data using the Import Wizard and save the package as an SSIS package. When I try to Run the Package I get The Acquire Connection method call to the connection manager "SourceConnectionExcel" failed with the error...
If I save the file to the VM local drive the SSIS package run fine.When I log into SSIS through SSMS i have to run as "Administrator".
When I try to debug the break points will always say the source code is different from the current version, but the custom component in the GAC has the new version number. The other strange thing is the toolbox will not reset to the original version meaning it will not remove the custom components. The funny thing is after I compile the custom components and restart VS the custom component runs with the new code changes. I can see the new features I added, but the debugger and toolbox still seem to be broken.
I have tried the following
1) Reset the tool box.
2) uninstall all my custom dll from the GAC €śC:WINDOWSassembly€?
3) remove all my custom dll from €śC:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSPipelineComponents€?
4) restart VS 2005
5) reselect the custom components.
6) reboot my computer.
It seem like VS has another cache. For the tool box or something.
Does anybody have any suggestion?

I am quite new to SSIS and have been given the task of importing some data from a text file into the database. The data contains dates which are in the American format of mm/dd/yyyy. I need them in the datadase in the format of dd mon yy.
I realise I could load it and do a SQL task to convert once it is in the database but ideally i would like this data transformed before it is loaded into the tables.
any suggestions will be gratefully recieved.

I want to create an SSIS package to take snapshots of our database at regular intervals and export the data directly into a SAS JMP File. I have no idea how to go about doing this.

I have the following scenario, and my main question is why Excel Formatted file errors out while TXT formatted file does not? Any workaround would be helpful, but I do want to avoid dtexec, and still want to manage it as SSIS.
MAIN ISSUES - permission issue & excel connection issue
SSIS Package Run Directly (not SQL Job, not automated)
* Every format and and folder location works!
Package Run under SQL JOB
TXT Format
A. Project Folder - GOOD
B. Client Folder - FAILS!
Conclusion - TXT Format works, but Client Folder does not have sufficient permission for PRODsvcSQLDMS
EXCEL Format
A. Project Folder - FAILS!
B. Client Folder - FAILS!
Conclusion - EXCEL Format DOES NOT work. Maybe SSIS Excel Connection Bug.

I load data from excel and sometimes I have problem with format of excel's cells. For example format of cell should be "general" but one of cell is "custom" and I get wrong data but if I just change format in excel to "general" - data is correct.
Can I change or check format of cells in SSIS ?

I have an Excel file(.xls) that I need to import to SQL Server database. I am trying to use the Import wizard. However, when I select the file and click next I get the warning "External table is not in the expected format.(Microsoft JET Database Engine)" . I opened the .xls file using a text editor. It looks like some html document.

My colleague is working on bulk insert task from SSIS and since the data file does not contain any valid delimeter one of the suggestion he got is to use a file format to address the issue. Thus a bcp command is used to generate the format file, as per below.
bcp <database name>.dbo.<table name> format nul -T -S <server name> -n -f out.fmt
The file file format was generated, from the data flow we added the BULK INSERT task and set the properties accordingly including the File Format and location of the file. Upon running the task itself we encountered the error as per below.
[Bulk Insert Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Cannot bulk load. The file "C:HFISTAT.fmt" does not exist.".
Progress: The Bulk Insert task is completed. - 100 percent complete
Task Bulk Insert Task failed
Have checked the file and it is in C: drive and it is not protected or read-only. Validated the output file and it is as per expected. Any help would be appreciated very much.

I have created the 2 datasources, ordering each on a field commmon to both.
I have created the two derived columns headers and am now moving on to the merge.
It is failing with the following error:
"the input is not sorted"
And whilst I definitely have an order by on the query, when I look at the metadata between the datasource and the derived column, the Sort Key Position items displays "0" for all my fields, I was expecting the sort field to have a "1" in this column. What am I missing?

I need to convert the csv files into another format of csv files as specified in the Format Specification files. I am stuck at one place, where I have to convert CSV format file data into SAP IDOC format file. In SSIS we don't have any such SAP adapter (though we have .NET Data Provider for mySAP suite [SSIS SAP Adapter] but this is still not fully supported by Microsoft, plus it doesn't have feature to convert data into IDOC format) that can do this. Can someone here please provide me some pointers on any third party adapters available in market to do this job or if anyone has already developed some custom approach to achieve this task?

I am trying to create an ssis package with dynamic csv file as output. and out format contains query output.
sample file name:
Unique identifier + query output + systemdate();
The expression is looking like this.
@[User::FilePath] + @[User::FileName] + ".CSV"
-- user filepath is a variable from ssis package. File name is the output from SQL query. using script task i have assigned the values to @[User::FileName] .
When I debugged the script task the value getting properly but same variable am using for Flafile destination. but its not working.

I have scheduled a job and the job is getting failed.I have scheduled two DTS packages in the job.But when I run the DTS Packages separately its running fine without throwing any errors.But when the Job fails I am getting the error message like "Dts package not found"
The error message which I am getting while the Job fails is
