I can not seem to locate this file any where on my computer let alone in the specified directory. With out this file, it would be very difficult if not impossible to go through rest of the SSIS tutorials. Could I ftp this file from some locations so I could get started on the tutorials.
After I complete the SSIS Tutorial Lesson 5 and try to run the package, I found there's no any rows inserted into the error output file. I'm sure that I'd followed all the procedures. Anybody help?
I have followed the instructions for SSIS Lesson 1 exactly but i get these 4 errors when I come to debug at the "Lookup Date Key" lookup transformation. Last step in the lesson.
1. [Lookup Date Key [66]] Error: Row yielded no match during lookup. 2. [Lookup Date Key [66]] Error: The "component "Lookup Date Key" (66)" failed because error code 0xC020901E occurred, and the error row disposition on "output "Lookup Output" (68)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified object of the specified component. 3. [DTS.Pipeline] Error: The ProcessInput method on component "Lookup Date Key" (66) failed with error code 0xC0209029. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running. 4. [DTS.Pipeline] Error: Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0209029.
I have tried this on 2 hardware setups and recreated the package several times on both. The only thing i can think of is that the collations on both servers is SQL_Latin1_CP1_CI_AS and British English (I have huge legacy databases from SQL 7.0 and cannot get my tech support to change language settings of server to UK English). Is it possible that this is causing the lookup failure mentioned above (Q1)? How can I change the collation/language settings within the DTS so that the text file matches the AdventureWorksDW database settings if this is the issue (Q2)?
Are the error codes listed anywhere and if not can they be added BOL (Q3)? I have read other threads and they suggest 0xC0209029 means lookup failed due to differing lengths. Can dates have differing lengths (Q4)?
SSIS 2005 MSDN Tutorial - Lesson 1 - subsection namely 'Adding and Configuring the Lookup Transformations ' - in that STEP 7 not working. Not able to select the 'columns' tab.
Anybody worked-out this Lesson1 with the step provided by MSDN.
I feel stupid for asking this but I can't seem to find where to install the SSIS tutorials referenced in msdn.. specifically the "Deploying Packages Tutorial". In the SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition DVD that I have, I've chosen to install all of the samples etc. I have the AdventureWorks and AdventureWorksDW and a whole bunch of samples in "C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90SamplesIntegration ServicesPackage Samples" but under the directory "C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90SamplesIntegration ServicesTutorial" I only have sample data for "Creating a Simple ETL Package".
I know... feels like a dumb question but I have run the install wizard on both the dev edition dvd and the msdn library dvd several times and looked at all the options and can't find anything about tutorials under the SQL server installation or the workstation component installation. Please help. Thanks.
I have a list of customers in my Customers table. What I am looking to do is to create QR codes for each customer in Reporting Services. I need to include the customer name, address, postcode, telephone number and contact name.
I have an SSIS package that inserts website URLs from a SQLServer table into a variable used by an HTTP Connection Manager, then downloads the data files from those URLs using a ForEach Loop and a Script Task. Works beautifully when a data file is found at the URL, but hangs if no data file is found. I've set the Timeout property on the HTTP Connection Manager to 30 seconds, but doesn't work. how to first check if a data file exists, of if the request returns nothing, or how to trap this situation in a try-catch?
Here is the VB code I'm using in the Script Task:
Public Sub Main() Try ' Connect to website using HTTP connection manager Dim nativeObject As Object = Dts.Connections("HTTP Connection Manager").AcquireConnection(Nothing) ' Create a new HTTP client connection Dim connection As New HttpClientConnection(nativeObject)
While building the expression for the property: ConnectionString, I am facing an issue. The expression, I am trying to assign is '@[User::varFileName]'. When I clicked on the 'Evaluate Expression' button, the above expression is not returing any value in 'Evaluated Value' window. Please respond we have a solution.
The contents of the msi file available to download with Lesson 8 "Connecting your Web Application to SQL Server 2005 Express Edition" does not provide files referenced by the project solution "sln" file.
Hope I'm asking this question in the correct forum.
I'm a newbie in Reporting Services and currently working my way through the tutorials with AdventureWorks. Came across this error while doing the MSDN tutorial for Advanced Features, lesson 5 - user defined functions.
Created a new report, copied the following to the query screen:
SELECT udf.ContactID, udf.FirstName + N' ' + udf.LastName AS Name, c.Phone, c.EmailAddress, udf.JobTitle, udf.ContactType FROM ufnGetContactInformation(@ContactID) udf JOIN Person.Contact c ON ufn.ContactID = c.ContactID
I'm following the directions to the letter, and consistently get the following error:
"The multi-part identifier "ufn.ContactID" could not be bound."
"The multip-part identifier "ufn.ContactID" could not be bound. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 4104)"
I'm running SQL 2005 Enterprise on Windows XP.
Any help you can give will be much appreciated! Thank you.
When I first installed BI Studio everything was working fine, but I went into it today and I noticed that the FTP task seems to be missing, I can't see it in the toolbox, everything else appears to be their but not that.
Any idea how I can get this back, I really don't wont to uninstall and reinstall at the moment, and I'm not even sure if that would work.
how come my SQL 2005 surface area configuration don't have the configuration for SIS and other settings? seems to be missing alot of settings...it only say SQL 2005 Express when I m using SQL 2005 enterprise....
I am attempting to import data into SQL 2005 (using the Tasks->Import Data wizard) and get as far as selecting a datasource. My source is ODBC and I am selecting ".NET Framework Data Provider for Odbc" but then get stuck on the connection string... I am attempting to import from 'Relativity Client' which as far as I can tell is an interface to a Cobol database, I have also had this problem importing from FoxPro - how do I come up with a connection string?
I have also tried to create a DTSX package, created the connection to the odbc source, tested ok, then when selecting the connection as a source (datareader source) I get the message 'Cannot acquire a managed connection from the run-time connection manager'...
I have also created a DTS package in SQL2000, upgraded to a 2005 package, this creates a file which after opening cannot be saved 'System.OutOfMemoryException', on my laptop with 2gig physical ram (1.3gig in use), 8gig virtual memory...
This is getting just a little frustrating as the SQL 2000 wizard fetches the data straight in from any data source I have ever tried with no complication whatsoever...
Unfortunately the first training course I can get on is in the middle of January. But I would prefer not to have to install SQL2000 and SQL2005 (SQL2000 for DTS, SQL2005 for reporting) just to get a few reports up and running.
What do I need to do to make SSIS import ODBC data? Or if someone can direct me to a good source (preferably with examples) of how to get SSIS working it would be greatly appreciated.
I have encountered an issue with one of my log files which has me somewhat puzzled. I receieved notification at 00:02:16:36 that the Log file was full: The log file for database 'TDS' is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space.. A large number of these same messages have followed.
Prior to these messages starting the log file was backed up successfully at 00:00:01:10 Shortly after this there is a message - and this is the bit that confuses me - at 00:02:16:35 that says: d:mssqldata ds_log.ldf: Operating system error 112(error not found) encountered.
So from what I can tell the log file was backed up successfully. Then approx 1 minute later the system can't find the log file??? Then I keep getting these log file full messages - until the next log backup (60 min later)...then everything is fine. HUH?
When looking at the log file for SQL it is sitting there, and isn't new, as it's created date is back when I setup the database initially.
Can anyone shed any light on what this message might mean and whether there is specifically something that I can do to circumvent it in the future.
Oh yeah we have nothing tricky in terms of replication or log shipping or anything like that.....
Recently my server harddisk crashed and I Lost a one of the secondary data files of sqlserver database. I have the main file intact and the recent data was also in that file only, but I was unable to attach the database as it required the other data files also.
Is there any way to create the database again from the existing data file( unfortunately there is no backup also which we can use to recreate the missing data file)
I recently downloaded Visual Studio 2005 Express along with the Learning Resources for Visual Basic Express video. First let me say that the Learning Resources is an excellent resource for beginners to become familiar with Visual Studio, Database and programming concepts. Although the series is probably too basic for experienced developers you may find it reveals a number of tricks in the Visual Studio 2005 interface. http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vb/default.aspx
Problem I downloaded the VB Lesson 9 Visual Basic Project from Microsoft Learning Resources. With out making any changes to the project I compiled and ran it, making changes to the data and saving the changes. Every thing look great until you run it a second time and see that the changes to the data are all lost.
Observations: 1. Changes made to the data from within Visual Studio (Show Table Data) do take effect.
2. The in-memory data (DataSet) is changed as you move from row to row.
3. The TableAdapter.Update call returns 1, ostensibly indicating the number of rows updated.
4. The data in the database is not changed by the TableAdapter.Update call.
Operating System: Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 Other Software installed on this system 20SQL Server 2005 Express Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise Visual Studio .net Enterprise Microsoft .NET Framework SDK Microsoft Office 2003
If anyone can help me understand the cause of this problem I would greatly appreciate it.
I have installed in my machine SQL 2005 with SSIS components, and the Visual studio 2005. The installation process was successfully and all components seem to be on the machine, but I did not find the shortcut to allow me running SSIS environment. When I re-run the SQL setup the SSIS components is there but is unable to be used. Any idea how to solve this issue?
I want to start the SSIS wizard to import data from a flat file, but I right click the DB > select Task and the Import and Export options are not there. Is there something I have to enable before the options show up
We have an SSIS package which runs regularly throughout the day, on 15 minute intervals. This package is moving data between two SQL Server instances, performing some simple identity mapping along the way. The primary source table is large, and we want to move only those records which have changed since the last time the package ran, so we use VersionDatestamps in the table, and pick up the dataset to be transferred by using the pacakge execution time, and the (previously recorded by the package) last-run time.
The problem we are having, is that the initial dataset picked up by SSIS is often missing records. The missing records are clearly within the time window that the package queried for, though they are near the boundary (within a minute, of the boundary, but as much as 30 seconds away) and typically all have an identical version datestamp to each other, within a single execution of the package.
At first, we thought this was an issue with date precision, but we've both truncated the dates, and even expanded the time window, and we still experience the same phenomenon.
The stored procedure which is responsible for updating the records in question, runs as a previous step to the SSIS package, within a single SQL Server Agent Job.
Has anyone experienced anything similar, or have some recommendation on how to track the source of this down?
Hi, I run the following command , it went well but i didnt find a file authors.txt where will i find this authors.txt exec master.. xp_cmdshell "bcp pubs..authors out authors.txt -c -Sserver -Uuser -Ppwd"
I'm in a BIG BIG trouble... A co-worker tried to help me out with the huge database huge log file. So he first detach my db, and deleted the log.ldf file... now, i tried to attach it back....ERROR... could someone help me out ... please..
I have been trying to find a way to add the File Enumerator Collection option to my version of BIS. Newer versions have a FileEnumerator and I can't seem to find that option. Can anyone help?
I inherited a computer from a co-worker who left. On it she installed SQL Server 2005. The help system is chock full of references to the various and sundry tutorials that come with the product, but I can't find so much as a syllable about how one actually accesses those tutorials.
When I select Start, Programs, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Documentation and Tutorials, Tutorials, SQL Server Tutorials, it simply launches one of the help screens. That screen, and the ones it contains links to, describe the tutorials topics in great detail, but nowhere is there any explanation of how you actually launch the tutorials.
Can someone tell me where I can find some SQL 2005 tutorials, e-learning or learnig tool for a kind of beginner. I want something where I can learn by doing. Some of the tutorials I have seen all pertain to .NET.
Windows 2003(64bit) server, SQL 2005 Server(64bit), Oracle client 10G rel2 (64bit) is installed. But when I am going to create a datasource to the Oracle database the Oracle OLEDB Provider is missing, the only Providers avaliable is from Microsoft.
I have tried to install ODAC (64bit) with no result.
Anyone who have come across this problem and how do I do to resolve it?
BTW! Is there a way to try communication with the OLEDB provider from the commandprompt?
I want to skip running the SSIS data flow task when the source file is missing. We have a scheduler that copies the source file to the staging area. This SSIS package runs as SQL server job. So when a SSIS package fails due to missing file the remaining steps in the SQL scheduler won't execute. I want to handle the missing source file condition grace fully. Please advise.
