SSIS Error When Try To Add The Analysis Services Connection Manager
Feb 5, 2008
I use Sql server 2005 standard edition in a 64 bit machine.I tried to create a SSIS project with an Analysis Services Processing Task. In connection Manager, the test connection succeeds but when I try to add the analysis services connection manager it gives following error.-The new connection manager could not be created,Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0010014 (Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRuntimeWrap). This is a production server and we cannot reproduce this in other servers , so troubleshooting is difficult. This error appears when connecting to other sources like MS excel in Export task of Enteerprise Manager as well. Cubes can be processed manually without any problem.Pls give me a solution.
I am getting the following error when trying to EDIT a OLEDB Connection Manager. I am using VS2010. Im not coming up with any answers to this problem. I just reinstalled SQL SERVER CLIENT TOOLS 2012 That includes the SQL DATA TOOLS/VS 2010 But I still receive this error.
Error:Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed. (System.Data)
I create a connection to an OLE db source and use SQL Server authorization and save the password, the connection manager seems to "forget" the password. That is, when I click the 'save password' check box, and do a test connection, it connects fine. But as soon as I close that connection window, and reopen it, the password box is empty, and the 'save password' box is still checked.Â
While using the connection manager name in the SSIS component (say script task) the connection is failing . As a workaround, the whole connection string has been put in a variable and used that variable in the SCRIPT task.
Is it a bug or some other property need to be set to use ConnectionManager Name .
How to use variables in Connection Manager's properties? I see some replies through Configuration Package. But what if, it is still in development stage? I mean, can I use the Variable tab and create some variables like
Then put them in Password and UserName property of Connection Manager? If this is possible, how and how can I set the values of those variables I mentioned when I am going to deploy the package in the Production?
I am using SSIS 2008 and I am trying to remove all parameters from my Connection manager so that the package will execute without errors. How do I do this?
I am working on SQL Server 2005 (x64) with Windows Server 2003 (x64) operating system. I am having a major issue in SSIS. Here is the detailed explanation of the issue :
I have an EXCEL file in 2003 / 2007 version. It contains some data. I want to import the data using SSIS into SQL Server 2005 (x64) database table. I have taken "EXCEL FILE SOURCE" and "SQL Server DESTINATION". It was failed on importing data. Surprisingly it works fine in SQL Server 2005 (x32). Can you please explain why it is NOT woking on (x64) ?
Here is the error code i am getting:
[Excel Source [1]] Error: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
I need to process a 2012 Excel file. In SSIS Connection Manager, I am only given an option until Excel 2007 version. When I use this in my connection for Excel Source, I am prompted with this error when I attempt to select the name of the sheet:
"Could not retrieve the table information for the connection manager 'Excel Connection Manager'.
Failed to connect to the source using the connection manager 'Excel Connection Manager'"
I am trying to dynamically change my initial catalog in a SSIS project. Each day I get a snapshot of data from the production server. I am performing ETL on that database and loading it into my warehouse. I am trying to put something together so that each day I get the latest snapshot and if its newer then my most recent one I pass that new catalog into the connection manager. I can already run the sql script to compare the two catalogs but I can't populate the connection manager.
I am working with SQL Server 2012. I have deployed a SSIS project that has 2 packages in it. The package connection manager (Test) uses an expression to evaluate one of the Project parameter value (TestConnectionString) to set its ConnectionString property.
This works fine in a Dev environment. However when deployed to UAT, it keeps failing with the error:Â
PackageExport:Error: The result of the expression "@[$Project::TestConnectionString]" on property "Package.Connections[Test].Properties [ConnectionString]" cannot be written to the property. The expression was evaluated, but cannot be set on the property.
I can not seem to find what the issue could be. I have come across [URL] .... where it says: "If the package contains project parameters, the package execution may fail." but offers no solution.Â
I have a linked server setup in dev environment which is pointing to ORACLE server of a third-party. I m on  sql server 2008 r2 and  using BIDS 2008 for building an SSIS package which would pull data from oracle and do a look up in SQL server table to get a final  extract. Now the query which pulls data from a single table from linked server is like the one below
select * from [oracle linked server ]..dbo.tablename a left join  mySQLSERVERtable b on a.id=b.idÂ
Note:I can execute this query on SSMS as  the linked server is setup -[oracle linked server ] and I have sql  oledb connection manager for dev environment already configured in my ssis package .
My questions are do I need to create a SSIS CONNECTION manager specifically for linked server in my ssis package ?
Are there any best practices which we follow when using linked servers in this context ? I am thinking will the join suffer performance issue and what kind of exceptions I need to write when the linked server connection is broken.
I am yet to connect to any datasource on my SSIS package. But when I right click on the connection Managers box in my SSIS project and select €œNew OLE DB Connection€? (or any other connection type), I get an Error as below. Please Help to resolve this error.
The new connection manager could not be created. Additional information: The service System.Windows.Forms.Design.IUIService could not be located. (Microsoft.DataTransforamtionServices.Design).
I am using SSIS 2005 on Windows 2003 server. Using Excel Source to dump the data for staging database. I am getting following error while I execute it through BI studio's execute button.
I have deployed my packages into Sql Server and I am using Configuration File. As my Data Source is Excel, I have changed the connection string during deployment with Server Path. But I am getting the following errors. Actually the File Exist in Path. May I know What is cause of the issue? Do I need to give any permission to execute the package.
SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009. Hi, I got this error in a Flat File connection manager, it was saying that the last column caused the disk I/O Buffer overflow, whereas the last column contains 188 characters at max.
I have a cube that we are processing nightly via an Analysis Service Processing Task in SSIS. In order to increase the performance of the processing time, we elected to use a lot of rigid dimension attributes, and do a full process of everything in the SSIS task. The issue that I am having is that after that task completes, I need to go into Visual Studio to deploy the cube becuase we are unable to browse or use the cube. This issue seemed to start once we changed the SSIS Analysis Service Processing Task to do a full process on the dimensions, rather than an incremental.
I would expect that once development is done, and it is processed and deployed, that is it. My thinking is that the SSIS task should just update the already deployed cube,
I have, a SSAS 2012 tabular instance with SP2, there is a database on the instance with a read role with everyone assigned permissions. When configuring the Power BI analysis services connector, at the point where you enter Friendly Name, Description and Friendly error message, when you click next I receive the error "The remote server returned an error (403)." I've tested connecting to the database from Excel on a desktop and connect fine.I don't use a "onmicrosoft" account so don't have that problem to deal with.
We use Power BI Pro with our Office 365. As far as I can tell that part is working ok as I pass that stage of the configuration with a message saying connected to Power BI.The connector is installed on the same server as tabular services, its a Win2012 Standard server. The tabular instance is running a domain account that is the admin account for the instance (this is a dev environment) that account is what I've used in the connector configuration. It's also a local admin account. There is no gateway installed on the server.
I use SQL Server 2012 and visual studio 2010.I created SSIS Project with task "Execute Package". Control flow view as: Package1 (execute package) -> Package2 (data flow).Data flow in Package2 view as: ADO.NET source -> ADO.NET destination.
When I started Package2, it's work. I havn't errors. But when I started Package 1 I have error "Unable to get managed connection from the Connection Manager runtime". In execution log I see that ADO.NET source produced this error on verification stage. Package failed on verification stage, not on execution stage. Why when I started Package 2 it work, but when I started Package1 (and Package1 started Package2) it failed?
Hi All, I am getting the following error if I am using the package "Transaction Option=Required" while running through Sql Job: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "<connection name>" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
while I running the SSIS package on BI environment, I am getting the following error: [Connection manager "<connection name>"] Error: The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D00A "Unable to enlist in the transaction.".
I know the alternative solution is to make the "Transaction Option=Supported", but in my case I have run the whole flow in a single transaction. I came to know that this has been fixed in the service pack1(ref. to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914375). FYI.. some time it was running successful.
I have taken all the necessary step to run the SSIS package in a distributed transaction(like the steps for MSDTC) and also created the package flow in a sequence.
I was going through the link - http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=160340&SiteID=1 but all those didn't solve my problem.
If anyone can help me it will be great. or it is a bug in SSIS?
I created a shared datasoure to point to a remote AS server, when I clicked "Test Connection" it succeeds.
I used the query builder to create an MDX query by dragging items from the cube, the results appear in the right hand paine when I do this which tells me that I am connecting to the cube successfully. I then finish the wizard which creates my report.
The problem comes when I click "Preview", I get the following error message:
An error occurred during local report processing. An error occurred during report processing. Cannot create a connection to data source 'SalesMartCube' A connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
Why would I be able to see the query results in query builder but not when I preview the report?
I am trying to test a connection in Reporting Services to an Analysis Services 2000 database. I get a Test Connection Succeeded from one machine and I can't even select the databases in the connection properties on another machine. What can I look at that might be preventing one machine from seeing the Analysis Services Server?
Problem: ColA (Source) Rounding error to PARTY_NO (Destination) I have a field of text of in a flat file that the flat file connection manager Source picks up correctly €œ70000893€? However when it gets the OLE DB Connection Destination the data has changed to 70000896. That€™s before its even Written to the database. The only clue that something is wrong in the middle is the great Data viewer shows the number as 7.000009E+07 Other clues looking at the data it appears there is a rounding error on only the number that dont end in 00 ColA (Source) PARTY_NO (Destination) 71167300 71167296 70329000 70329000 70410000 70410000 Any ideas people? Thanks in advance Dave
I have a package where I need a dynamic connection string for an Analysis Services connection manager.
I have implemented this successfully for a Text data source, and a SQL data source, but the same approach does not seem to be working for an AS connection.
I set some expressions for the AS connection manager (ServerName, InitialCatalog, even the entire ConnectionString itself), but they don't take. I don't get any errors, but the task processes the cubes for the AS connection as it was established at run time. The design time connection string changes don't appear to get evaluated. This seems to be an issue only for AS connections.
I want to perform a Analysis Services Processing Task using a connection manager created from a Analysis Services data source. I create the data source using the Oledb provider for Analysis Services 9.0, and it works fine. Then I create a connection manager using the "New connection from data source" option, and it seems to create it ok.
The problem is that I can't then asign this connection to the Analysis Services processing task. I get the error:
"Connection Manager MyConectionManagerFromDataSource is not a Analysis Services Connection Manager"
However, if I create directly a connection manager using "New Analysis Services Connection" it works fine.
Is it at all possible to create a Analysis services connection from a Data Source to perform a Analysis Services Processing Task?
Once you open the SSIS execute package utility and select a package from a SQL server location, even if you go to the connection managers item (on the left in execute package utility) and change a connection string, it doesn't make a difference. I have this package that reads flat files into a database. So when I run the package, even if I change the connection string for a connection manager to read a particular flat file and run the package, it still uses the old connection string that was used when the package was initially saved. As always I hate Microsoft for releasing features without even checking if it works.
I have an existing SSIS package created on another workstation. It connects to and updates data in a DB2 database.  I'm only making one very minor change to the package, so I want to change this package as little as possible. When I try to open the existing db2 connection manager in the package on my workstation, I get 'The specified provider is not supported. Please choose different provider in connection manager'.   Â
On the properties box, I get the following on the connectionString for the existing connection manager (data source and userid changed to "private"):Data Source=PRIVATE;User ID=private;Provider=IBMDADB2.DB2COPY1;Persist Security Info=True;
I tried loading the 32 and 64 bit db2 drivers (but I may have done something wrong). I still couldn't get the original db2 connection manager to open, I tried to add a new connection manager,
Data Source=PRIVATE;Provider=IBMDADB2 Advanced Page..This has 'Provider=IBMDADB2 Advanced Page.;' instead of Provider='IBMDADB2.DB2COPY1', and doesn't let me enter a userid and password, which I need to be able to do.   Â
I am trying to run a package outside of the Business Intelligence development Studio. It continuously fails and tell me that my username cannot logon due to a password failure. When I check my connections the password never shows in the connection string and remains blank in the connection properties although I have checked Save Password in the connection properties. Does anyone know how I can save the password in the connection string being utilized in the SSIS package?
I want know how to config SSIS Package With different connection Manager.
Sample .
When Design time i gave The Connection Manager(Devlopement Server) Name : STG1.XXXSchema
Server Name STG.ssss
Password : xxxxx
I make the The XML configuration file .
after deploy the Package i want from Development Server to Production Server . so i will change the Package Config File Open wiht Notepad .
Server Name STG.qqq
Password :xxxxxx
after Edit Connection String I run the Package . It Always Taking Whatever igave the Connection String When Design time only .is not taking what connection string edit hte in the Package Config File. Please Any one give the Solution .
How we can Change the connection string in XML Config File .Whne I tested . It always taking what ever we given in the Desing Time .
I'm having serious problem with SSIS on my development machine.
each time I try to add a new Connection manager i got this error :
TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio ------------------------------ The new connection manager could not be created. ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The connection manager 'OLEDB' is not properly installed on this computer. (Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Design)
This happen for any type of Connection Manager, ADO.NET, FILE,SMTP. I've already tried to uninstall SSIS , but nothing change.
I am having a strange problem in that when ever I create a connection to an OLE db source and use SQL Server authorization and save the password, the connection manager seems to "forget" the password. That is, when I click the 'save password' check box, and do a test connection, it connects fine. But as soon as I close that connection window, and reopen it, the password box is empty, and the 'save password' box is still checked. Even if I do a test connection at this point, it wont connect because it does not have the password.
