Hi,
I've created an SSIS package to process cubes on Analysis Services 2005. This works fine.
Now I wish to use the same package to run Cubes on Analysis 2000. I have changed My connection manager to point to this DB. When I test connection it works fine.
The problem lies, when I try to edit the Analysis Service Processing Task. I get an error message saying:
"A connection cannot be made-Make sure the server is running".
I can get into Analysis Manager ok, and see the database there.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction here?
I'm trying to execute an SSIS package from an ASP.NET web page. Using some code from http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms403355.aspx I have managed to get this working when executing a package that contains a stored procedure, however it does not work when there is an Analysis Services cube to build.
Here is my code for the webservice
Code Snippet
Public Class SCCBuildDW
Inherits System.Web.Services.WebService
' LaunchPackage Method Parameters:
' 1. sourceType: file, sql, dts
' 2. sourceLocation: file system folder, (none), logical folder
' 3. packageName: for file system, ".dtsx" extension is appended

ByVal sourceLocation As String, _
ByVal packageName As String) As Integer 'DTSExecResult
I'm using windows authentication and impersonating an identity. The identity has access to the analysis services role but the package still fails to run.
I have some questions about SQL Servers 2000 and 2005 compatibility. In my configuration I have to use both servers. The cubes are stocked in 2005 server. May I transfer from 2005 to 2000 Analysis Services the cubes?
If yes, what is the procedure? The result of migration is the same in the two different versions?
I have a cube that we are processing nightly via an Analysis Service Processing Task in SSIS. In order to increase the performance of the processing time, we elected to use a lot of rigid dimension attributes, and do a full process of everything in the SSIS task. The issue that I am having is that after that task completes, I need to go into Visual Studio to deploy the cube becuase we are unable to browse or use the cube. This issue seemed to start once we changed the SSIS Analysis Service Processing Task to do a full process on the dimensions, rather than an incremental.
I would expect that once development is done, and it is processed and deployed, that is it. My thinking is that the SSIS task should just update the already deployed cube,
I'm trying to create reports in RS2005 using AS2000 as my data source. I understand that if I use RS2005 on AS2000, I wont be able to enjoy the OLAP based parameters as in using AS2005. Does anyone know an easy way to easily use Parameters in RS2005 while still using AS2000?
i have a small problem with the data sources in the reporting services, maybe you can clarify the situation... I have a MS CRM 3 solution with the reporting services 2005 installed. From an other vendor we have a arcplan solution on the 2000 analysis services. I would like to get access from the 2005 reporting services to the 2000 cube. Is this possible? Ive read that the SSMS cant connect to the 2000 cubes. Can i connect from the reporting services??
I have a cube with 20 dimensions. I have two dimensions with more than one million of members. When I process these dimensions Analysis Services 2000 create files with "axis" extension. What are these files? Why, when I start MSSQLServerOLAPService or when I process another cube in another OLAP database, these files sre updated?
I have a problem with Microsoft Analysis services, we already configure the boot.ini and the registry to use 3GB in RAM, but 2 or 3 times in a day we should restart the services to clean the memory, as you can see that€™s not acceptable. The application that use the OLAP is OutlookSoft . Here the scenery SO. Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition with SP 1 RAM 4 GB Analysis services 2000 with SP 4
How do I connect to an Analysis Services 2000 cube while in Integration Services? My idea is to execute an MDX query from within a package, and then stage the data to a SS 2005 table for a RS report to query.
I've got a software development PC that was running SQL 2000 + Analysis Services + Reporting Service (sp4 from memory). I then installed SQL Express 2005 and later then SQL 2005 Standard (dev) + Analysis + Reporting and upgraded to Sp2 last month.
To help improve the performance of this poor little PC, I've gone to Control Panel and uninstalled SQL 2000 service. I've also used the SQL 2005 Surface area configuration tool to switch off the SQL Express instance from running. Practically, I probably should remove the $SQLExpress instance.
The problem I'm faced with is the SQL 2000 Analysis and SQL 2000 Reporting service is still registered as Windows Services and showing the the SQL Server Configuration Manager (2005), but there is no uninstall option in the control pannel. So I can't work out how to uninstall these software and services.
It is also apparent that there are a series of "files" in the C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server80* directory like ..ToolsDevToolssamples*.* directory and others that shouldn't really be there if I've uninstalled SQL 2000 via the control panel.
Is there a SQL 2000 cleanup or removal tool that will help remove these old services and files?
Does anyone have some suggestions on how to cleanup my development PC without the full operating system installation?
I have successfully created a SSIS package which execute a DTS 2000 package and with no problem to execute the task. But I failed to schedule this package. I was not success in setting the logging. When running the package in command line:
dtexec file "C:Documents and SettingslyangMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005ProjectsTraingDTSTraingDTSDTSTraining.dtsx"

I have an SSIS and SSAS project in the same solution. Â I need to debug the SSIS package regardless if there is an error or two in the SSAS project. Â Is there a way to ignore the SSAS project while I debug the SSIS package?
I have an olap database "A" and SSIS package "P" which process all the dimensions and cubes in "A" olap database.
I created "A1" olap database copy of "A" and made copy of "P" SSIS package as "P1" I opened "P1" SSIS package and updated olap connection properties "Initial Catalog = A1". A1 is my new olap database.
When I run package "P1" guess what? it processed "A" olap database's cubes and dimensions. Try it, not in production because I did it in production.
I've been trying to use Analysis Services 2005 Cube as a data source, query it via MDX and then use the data returned elsewhere in SSIS.
However, I've been unable to get this working and can't find any information regarding how this can be done. Surely it should be possible when I can get this working even in Excel?
I've looked in December edition of BOL and no luck - have also sent a feedback to BOL regarding this and have been told that "it should be possible, since there is a way to send SQL queries to AS." However the person I was speaking with knew of no one who had actually tried this scenario and to try posting here.
Any help as to how to get this done would be greatly appreciated.
I use Sql server 2005 standard edition in a 64 bit machine.I tried to create a SSIS project with an Analysis Services Processing Task. In connection Manager, the test connection succeeds but when I try to add the analysis services connection manager it gives following error.-The new connection manager could not be created,Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0010014 (Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRuntimeWrap). This is a production server and we cannot reproduce this in other servers , so troubleshooting is difficult. This error appears when connecting to other sources like MS excel in Export task of Enteerprise Manager as well. Cubes can be processed manually without any problem.Pls give me a solution.
I want to achieve the following in (SSIS/SSDT for SQL 2012) -Â
I have a generic SSIS package which simply sends out email notifications using SMTP email task (this package is within its own project, and has project level input parameters).
I need to be able to call this package in the Event handler section of every package (numbering in about less than 60) that we have. These packages are within their own respective projects.
I thought I could use the "execute package task", but it turns out , using this, I cannot call a package that is part of some other project. I also cannot call a package that is stored in the CATALOG. Is there any way I can do this ?
When I call the child package , I should be able to send in parameters like - error information and package name of the Parent package.
I am trying to execute an SSIS package from a client that contains an Analysis Services Processing Task in the package. The client that does not have SSIS and SSAS installed. We are getting an error
The task "Analysis Services Processing Task" cannot run on this edition of Integration Services. It requires a higher level edition. The same package runs from a server that has both SSIS and SSAS installed. Let me know if someone has come across the same problem.
I am looking for a way to execute an SSIS package as the next step in the SQL 2000 Agent, with the first step being replication. Can I reference dtexec.exe on the SSIS box to execute the package located in the file system?
There are other posting related to this issue non of them ends with yes it was fixed by doing this... so lets consider I am new to web services and ssis and if you can help me. I have sql server 2005 database, ssis service and package and web services all in same box. I created sample given in this link http://msdn2.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ms403355.aspx#agent (To create a Web service to run packages on the server programmatically) I am using .net 2.0 vs 2005. while creating web services project I selected "Location" File System and just used cut and paste code from link. When I run web services in VS 2005 web page opens with this url - http://localhost:4472/WebService/Service.asmx and I am able to run package.
Now I want to share this service so I think the only way to use IIS and create as web service application right? or please let me know if there are other ways. so I created same sample project again in VS 2005 and selected "Location" HTTP. Now when I run my url is - http://localhost/WebService/Service.asmx but package fails when I run. In my ssis package I have database connection to read from one table and load to other table. I have read following links but not able to fix. Thanks for any help. http://blogs.msdn.com/michen/archive/2007/03/22/running-ssis-package-programmatically.aspx http://msdn2.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ms403355.aspx#agent http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1949366&SiteID=1&mode=1
It will be big help if some one can post code same what we have in this using web services http://msdn2.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ms403355.aspx#agent
and code altername of : To create a console application to test the Web service
to "How to call/use web services hosted in SSIS server from other machine"
Can you call a SSIS package from Web services? I would like to create a web services that can call a SSIS package ( generate a text file).. If it is possible, Can someone show me code examples?
I´m currently developing an import/export package in SSIS. I recently realized that this package is supposed to be run on a SQL Server 2000 instance, and I have no clue if this will work... I´m pretty new to SQL Server, but I now that DTS from 2000 ws replaced by SSIS in 2005, and the command-line dtsrun replaced by dtexec.
So my question: Will I be able to run a SSIS package on SQL Server 2000, and how would I do that?
I have a package designed and working correctly for months now. My challenge now is to run this package on a box that does not have SQL 2005 SSIS install. It has SQL 2000 installed.
My question is - Can I compile the SSIS into EXE or any other kind of DTS package to run on a none-SQL 2005 box?
I have successfully used migrate wizard to migrate DTS pacakge to TrainingDTS.dtsx. What should I do next? when I run
C:>dtexec /file "C:TrainingDTS.dtsx"
Error: 2008-05-13 09:14:31.36 Code: 0xC0029172 Source: File Transfer Protocol Task undefined FTP Task Description: The connection is empty. Verify that a valid FTP connection is p rovided. End Error Error: 2008-05-13 09:14:31.36 Code: 0xC0024107 Source: File Transfer Protocol Task undefined Description: There were errors during task validation. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1).
I have to create a migration package ..means package should migrate the sql server 2000 tables to 2005 tables (Not dealing with data at this point of time and ignoring SPs,DTS packages). But there are lot of normalisation ans schema changes in 2005 compared to 2000.Like,
- One 2000 table devided into 3-4 tables in 2005 - Lot of changes in the filed names - Handling integrity relationship between the newversion tables
Being new to SSIS ,iam in confusion like how to start and where to start.can you pls tell me the steps(Structured way) i have to fallow
-- I have around 8-9 tables in 2000 ,I have to migrate them into 18-19 tables (with some new fileds )
-- For each table i have to create one package(bcoz lot of transformations are there) or I can create one package for all of those ? but the finally i have to handover one package to the client
pls ask me if u need any further info to come up with the explanation..bcoz iam not sure whether i provided enough info or not
Win 7 SP1 x64 PC. I installed SQL Server 2014 Dev Edition + Visual Studio 2015.
I'd like to create some basic ETL SSIS packages, and I worked very comfortably in 2008R2.
For 2014, I started with this tutorial:[URL]However, it says to go to Start->All Programs->Microsoft SQL Server->SQL Server Data Tools.Â
I did explicitly install SSDT when I installed VS2015. I also installed it separately. I see SSDT listed in Programs, and SSIS is running according to SQL Server Config Manager, and Services. Half of Microsoft's docs seem to be 2012 era, which is a shame because 2014 is out and it's nearly 2016...
how do I get to the GUI where I can design ETL packages?Â
The attached image below shows the steps and its set up to fail if not successful. However there was a metadata validation issue in step one (underlying database field had changed), yet the job kept emailing stating it was successful. It appears to have just carried on with the other steps despite step one failing.
I have created an SSIS Package which provides Data to a DataReaderDestination. Next I have uncommented SSIS support in rsreportserver.config and rsreportdesigner.config
After that I have set up a shared Datasource in ReportServer and created a Report using that DS of type SSIS.
/FILE D:ETLReportingDataService.dtsx
When trying to see the report using http://localhost/reports I get a message that tells me that the package fails to execute. It does so well when debugging, so my guess is that there is some security issue.
It also does not work in preview dialog in VS. The error message there is "Cannot read the next data row for the data set dsSSIS. Object refernece not set to an instance of an obj.
I haved tried several sec. config-scenarios for the shared datasource. No change
I am using sql 2005 std, march sp1 ctp
Does anyone have a clue what could be the cause of my problem
Create a SSIS package for following scenario.I have one excel file which will contain 10 records for Monday, 12 records for Tuesday, 7 on Wed, no records on Thursday so if records are there I get mail if no records are there I didn't get mail daily.
