SSIS Package Not Getting Executed From The Code.

Dec 17, 2007

Hi Friends,

I am a newby to SSIS and it has been around 2 weeks since I have started with SSIS in my project.

Now, I have been able to successfully build the SSIS package for my project need which is to export all the data from excel source file to the destination database tables after certain validations and modifications. So, when I run the package from the Visual Studio, it runs fine, but actually we have to call the SSIS package from the Webpage through ASP.NET. I have used following code, for loading and executing the package on the page load event.

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Application app = new Application();

// Load package from file system
Package package = app.LoadPackage("C:\Monitor 3\EEObjectImportSSISPackage\ImportCustomPointObject.dtsx", null);

Variables vars = package.Variables;
vars["selectedArea"].Value = 1050;

DTSExecResult result = package.Execute(null, vars, null, null, null);
}

All the connections and the log details are configured in the package itself. I am not much expert on the how to configure the package properly, as this is my first hands on effort at SSIS.

Unfortunately, I am not able to execute the package from the above piece of code. I have tried referring to various blogs, but none could come to my rescue. On the page load, it generates the log which notes below errors.

Logging Of SSIS Package Doesnt Work When Executed As A Job

Mar 31, 2006

I am having the same problems as those in another post. SSIS package works fine when executed in BIDS and through execute package utility but it doesnt work when executed as a step in a job.

The other problem is that the logging also doesnt work when i try executing it as a job. So I have no clue about what to do without knowing what error it is. When I run the job it simply says the step has failed.

I have tried most of the solutions posted in other websites most of them to do with using proxies with credentials but havent hit a solution. I would love to get any input on what to do.

Thanks

Integration Services :: SSIS Package Fails When It Is Executed By Procedure

Mar 31, 2015

I have a very anoying problem with SSIS. I've done new packages into same project, almost identical compared to old ones. They work well in visual studio, but I can't execute them using procedure. Old packages works just fine, but none of the new. Error message is in the end of my story.Visual Studio version is 9.0.30729.1 and SQL Server version is 10.0.4000.0. Is it possible, that these not not updated versions could cause this problem?Package ProtectionLevel is DonSaveSensitive.

Calling SSIS Package From C# Code

Apr 10, 2007

I am using the following code to run my SSIS package:

Package package = app.LoadFromSqlServer
("\EPSROI\dts_Client_Eligibility_Import", "SQL32", "username",
"password", null);

Variables vars = package.Variables;
vars["InputFile"].Value = txtInput.Text;
vars["OutputFile"].Value = txtOutput.Text;
vars["Client"].Value = cboClientName.SelectedValue.ToString();
vars["Chopper"].Value = Chopper;

DTSExecResult result = package.Execute();

It runs fine on my machine; however, on anyone elses machine "result" comes back as "failure". We have figured out that it is loading the package and variables fine but failing before the first step of the package. Does anyone know why this would be? Or how to fix it? I am totally stumped considering it works fine on my machine.

Thanks.

SSIS Package Execution From C# Code

Apr 17, 2007

Hi All,

This not a problem but here i wan to give u my some trial on package execution from C# code.

i just want to make sure whether this is right way or not?

I need to upload some processed text file into table using SSIS packages. I m calling these packages in runtime for different source text files passed to it.

I first created package on my machine and deployed packages on Sql server using default protection level. So when i m tryng to execute it from integration services it wont work giving some exception in AquireConnectionCall() , its coz all the sensitive information is stroed inside package is not available to that machine.

In C#

Now i m loading this package using LoadFromSqlServer().
I am creating connection manager object for each of source and destination type and then setting all sensitve information from my solution's config file.
Set the protection level of package and available connection managers to DontSaveSensitve.

by using this method m able to execute any package created on any machine with default protection level.

Can any one of tell me -ve aspects of this approach?

Thanks

Running SSIS Package Using .Net Code

Aug 2, 2007

I am running this code my question is when it runs ExecuteNonQuery() it doesn't wait for package to complete It just returns "Package succeeded' - The way you can test if you run this code 2 times one after another. ExecuteNonQuery() breaks with error -
SQLServerAgent Error: Request to run job RunSsisPkg (from User DomainUser) refused because the job is already running from a request by User DomainUser.

How can I check before return package is running and wait to complete before return?

Simultaneous Execution Of The Same SSIS Package From Code

Jul 26, 2007

Hello

I am trying to call the same package with different starting parameters using asynchronous method calls.

My code is

namespace ReconHost

{

public partial class HostContainer : Form

{

public delegate void InvokePackageHandler(

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application app,
int var
);

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application app;

public HostContainer()

{

InitializeComponent();

for (int i = 0; i < 2; i++)

{

app = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application();

InvokePackageHandler asyncInvokePackageHandler = InvokePackage;

asyncInvokePackageHandler.BeginInvoke(app, i, null, null);

}

}

public void InvokePackage(Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application app, int var)

{

Package pkg = app.LoadPackage(@"c:GRSGRSGRSTest_Async.dtsx", null);

pkg.Variables["intVar"].Value = var;

pkg.Execute();

pkg = null;

}

}

}

If I set the for loop to loop just once, the package is executed fine. Any more than once and only one instance of the package is executed.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I know it is possible to execute the two package instances simultaneously because you can use DTexecUI.exe on two clients to do this.

Thanks in advance
Tomo

Trying To Find Code For SSIS Package That Has Been Migrated

Mar 24, 2008

We have a sql job type SSIS package that is not populating a database table as expected and I'm trying to figure what why not but I'm not sure where the "code" is. The person that created it said they copied a legacy package (sql 2000) and made modifications to it, then migrated it to the new version. When a legacy package is migrated is there a SSIS solution built? I see you can edit SSIS packages only in BI Development Studio but I'm not sure where to find package.

This post may answer my question but if you have any additional or updated information I'd like to hear it.
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=393634&SiteID=1

So, to view or edit the package you have to export it?
Package location

Select the type of storage location to export the package to. The following options are available:

SQL Server

File System

SSIS Package Storage

So do you pick "File System" in order to view it in BI?

Thanks for your help.

How To Stop A SSIS Package Execution From Code?

Sep 13, 2006

Hi everyone,

After a Execute method I would need to stop a package but I don't know why:

sResultDts = pkg.Execute(Nothing, Nothing, EventsSSIS, Nothing, Nothing)

I have a Events class (EventSSIS) which implements IDTSEvents and have an OnQueryCancel event but without parameters, such so:

Function OnQueryCancel() As Boolean Implements IDTSEvents.OnQueryCancel

Return False

End Function

Let me know how to pass a boolean parameter because of I can't overloaded OnQueryCancel method

How To Pass Parent Package Parameters To A Package Executed By SQL Server Job Agent

Variable In A Foreach Loop Becomes NULL When Package Executed As Child Package

Dec 3, 2007

I have created a SSIS package with a Foreach Loop including a Data Flow Task, which in turn include a Row Count component which pass the row count value to variable with package scope. The variable is used in an Execute SQL Task following the Data Flow Task.

The package executes successfully when executed on its own, but when executed as a child from a parent package (which only include an Execute Package Task) the variable from the Foreach Loop becomes NULL.

There are a lot of other variables in the package receiving values dynamically without any problem, the row count variable however is the only variable in the package that receives a value as part of a Data Flow (and used in following tasks within the Foreach Loop).

Why does the variable become Null? For your information, I am using a variable with package scope and no variables from the parent package are used or passed from the child package to the parent package.

(For your information, we are running the 64 bit version)

Why Is This Code Executed Twice?

Hi,
this code inserts twice the same record. I thing  it is due to the "Selet Scope_Identity" in the sqlcommand.If i remove the Select part, the inserts occurs only once. If i remove the line "comd.ExecuteNonQuery()", then the inserts also occurs once.
Is there something wrong in my code?

Integration Services :: SSIS Package - Create Different TXT File For Each Code

Jun 25, 2015

CREATE TABLE Test
(
EDate Datetime,
Code varchar(255),
Cdate int,
Price int
);
drop table Test

[Code] ....

I have this Query and the below output:

EDate Code CDate Price
2015-06-24  RX 20150701 22
2015-06-24  RX 20150701 28
2015-06-24  RX 20150701 43

[Code] ....

Now the task is to create  SSIS package which will create different .txt file for each Code

1) RX20150624.txt
2015-06-24 00:00:00.000 RX 20150701 22
2015-06-24 00:00:00.000 RX 20150701 28
2015-06-24 00:00:00.000 RX 20150701 43

2) NG20150623.txt
2015-06-23 00:00:00.000 NG 20150701 43

3) HO20150624.txt
2015-06-24 00:00:00.000 HO 20150701 43
And so on..

But the requirement is to have a dynamic query where we can have more number of Codes or less number of codes and similarly the package should generate dynamic text files, one .txt file per code. What is the best way to create a package which can meet the above requirement?

Scheduled SSIS/DTS Package Fails Periodically With Exit Code -1073741819

Oct 2, 2007

We have a vendor who has an SSIS package that executes a DTS package. We've asked that they migrate the DTS code completely to SSIS, but that is something that will not be done in the near future. The package is scheduled to run every 5 minutes through a SQL Server scheduled job. 95% of the time the package executes without an error, but occassionally the following error is reported.

Date 10/2/2007 7:35:00 AM
Log Job History (Pyxis - Data Load)

Step ID 1
Server DEVSQL1V5
Job Name Pyxis - Data Load
Step Name Run SSIS Package
Duration 00:00:03
Sql Severity 0
Sql Message ID 0
Operator Emailed
Operator Net sent
Operator Paged
Retries Attempted 0

Message
Executed as user: Domain_NameSQLService. The return value was unknown. The process exit code was -1073741819. The step failed.

When I look at the DTS and SSIS package logs no errors are reported and each log indicates the package completed successfully.

Any ideas what this exit code is indicating or how to further troubleshoot the problem?

Server Options Are Not Being Executed From Local Programatically Code?¿

Aug 16, 2006

Dear all,

For example, executing a DTSX stored in a server, execution is fine and successfully but the log file attached to that DTSX is not created at all after the execution. Otherwise if I'm going to execute from the server everything is fine: log file is created and gathering the usual information.

Let me know if exists any option for to enable this from the own DTSX.

If I run local packages log files are created without problems.

Getting Error Context From Executed Package

Aug 7, 2006

Background:

I am executing a package programmatically from ASP.NET using C#. The package is being loaded from SQL Server at runtime and then it is executed from a custom class written in C#.

Problem:

When a task fails, I'd like information on why it failed. I read about implemeting the IDTSEvents interface as a way to have my package call back to code. This works fine (I have code in the OnTaskFailed event handler), but I'm not sure how to find out why a task failed. Since my task is loading a flat file to SQL Server, failure will likely come in one of two flavors: either the file format will be wrong or the data will violate a database constraint. In etiher case, I'd like that feedback. I am looking that the TaskHost object that gets passed to my event handler and I haven't figured out how to access this information. Am I going about this the right way? If yes, how do I access the error information I am looking for?

SSIS Packages Not Getting Executed From Client.

Oct 24, 2007

I migrated a few stored procedures from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005. When the packages are run from the box where the SSIS and SQL Server (Windows server) is installed it is running fine without any issues. When run from my local machine (client) where I have installed the SQL Server Client, the same package would not execute and gives me some weird error messages. I am a local admin on the box. Is this a issue with SSIS? Do we have to log onto the box (server) and then execute the packages?

Any help is appreciated.

SSIS Packages Executed From .Net 2.0 Still Leak?

I'm running a large series of not-too-complex SSIS packages locally from within a .Net 2.0 process (a Windows Service). After trolling PerfMon for some time I'm convinced that the unmanaged code invoked by the SSIS API is still leaking. I'm running SQL2005 SP2 (3042) and .Net 2.0.50727.42.

I've read a few other threads that indicated there was a known issue, but they're dated some time ago, so I figure they'd have been addressed by the SQL service pack.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

Error at Validate File and Load Data: The task is configured to pre-compile the script, but binary code is not found. Please visit the IDE in Script Task Editor by clicking Design Script button to cause binary code to be generated.
(Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration)

As mentioned in the message, I opened the script IDE and added the code I need. When I close the VSA IDE, package designer displays the same error message.

The worst part of whole story is that if I close the package designer and reopen it, I find that all the code I wrote in the script task has been deleted by the package designer. This is not at all acceptable as I saved the package the and still lost all my work. I did all the coding from scratch for that task.

Please respond if anyone faced similar problem.

Thanks in advance!

Integration Services :: SSIS Cannot Open Datafile When Executed From Remote Host

Aug 19, 2015

I have seen several problems posted where an SSIS package writes a file successfully when executed manually, but fails when executed via SQL Agent job..I have the opposite problem. I'll try to lay it out succinctly: SSIS writes to a file on a shared folder, specified as HostAShare, for example. I created the share and gave full control to Everyone (out of frustration).I'm working from HostA via RDP, connected to the DB on DBHost via SSMS.If I kick off a SQL Agent job that executes the package, it works fine. (SQL job is running under SQL Server Agent Service Account).If I execute the job interactively (logged in to SSMS with Windows Auth), it fails with "Error: Cannot open the datafile "HostASharefilename.ext""We did find that if I RDP directly to the DBHost, I am able to execute manually.Also, if I try executing an xp_command shell command to write a file to the share, it works. (When RDP's into HostA with an SSMS connection to DBHost under my windows domain auth, as above.)The problem is the same when I RDP to any remote host.

Integration Services :: SSIS Fails To Load Files From Network When Executed Via Agent (2008 R2 SP2)

Aug 5, 2014

I have a simple SSIS package that reads a flat file and copies it into a SQL Server table.

When the flat fiel is on the C drive I have no problem runnign this package from SQL Server Agent, but as soon as I update the path to a network location the package only works when I run it manually, but fails when is executed via the SQL Server agent job.

The error says "cannot open the datafile", while the datafile location is valid.

Is this a kind of limitation of a SQL Server Agent that only local files are allowed to be processed?

Differentiate Between Whether Stored Procedure A Is Executed Inside Query Analyzer Or Executed Inside System Application Itself.

May 26, 2008

Just wonder whether is there any indicator or system parameters that can indicate whether stored procedure A is executed inside query analyzer or executed inside application itself so that if execution is done inside query analyzer then i can block it from being executed/retrieve sensitive data from it?

What i'm want to do is to block someone executing stored procedure using query analyzer and retrieve its sensitive results.
Stored procedure A has been granted execution for public user but inside application, it will prompt access denied message if particular user has no rights to use system although knew public user name and password. Because there is second layer of user validation inside system application.

However inside query analyzer, there is no way control execution of stored procedure A it as user knew the public user name and password.

Looking forward for replies from expert here. Thanks in advance.

Note: Hope my explaination here clearly describe my current problems.

Excel Destination Appends The Excel File Everytime A Package Is Executed

Dec 18, 2006

i have an SSIS package that exports to an excel file. This works fine. the problem is that it appends the data instead of overwriting the file. Is there any way to overwrite the file like you can with a flat file? I have to email the file everyweek and don't want to have to clear it out manually. Any help would be appreciated
