I'm getting "Access denied" error when I try to connect to SSIS from my desktop (Database Engine is fine). I'm a member of sysadmin within SQL, as well as an administrator on the server. I don't have any problem when I log on to the server directly via Remote Desktop and open SSIS.
I went into the surface area config tool, and I see that Database Engine and Analysis Services both expand and have a sub tabs to enable Services and Remote Connections, but Integration Services does not expand to a Remote Connections option, just Services. We're running MSDN Enterprise edition.
Does it matter if all the SQL services are using "Local System" for the logon ? I use an administrative logon on my SQL2000 boxes, and was fiddling with them on the 2005 box yesterday, but it seemed to cause more problems, so they are all Local System for now.
Am I missing something obvious ?

I am working with SQL Server 2012. I have deployed a SSIS project that has 2 packages in it. The package connection manager (Test) uses an expression to evaluate one of the Project parameter value (TestConnectionString) to set its ConnectionString property.
This works fine in a Dev environment. However when deployed to UAT, it keeps failing with the error:Â
PackageExport:Error: The result of the expression
"@[$Project::TestConnectionString]" on property
"Package.Connections[Test].Properties
[ConnectionString]" cannot be written to the property. The expression was evaluated, but cannot be set on the
property.
I can not seem to find what the issue could be. I have come across [URL] .... where it says: "If the package contains project parameters, the package execution may fail." but offers no solution.Â

I have a package that uses a for loop to iterate through an unknown amount of excel files and pull their data into a table. However, there will be cases when the file is corrupted or has some sort of problem so that either the transformation will fail or the excel data source will fail with an oledb connection error.
Could anyone suggest a clean way to trap these errors? Specifically, the "Cannot Aquire Connection from Connection Manager", which is the excel connection.
Thanks,

Greetings,
I have an SSIS package that I need to modify. It was developed in Visual Studio 2005 and runs faithfully in production on SQL Server 2005. Suddenly, I can't open the package on my own workstation. I see a big red "X" image and a message stating "Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document." The real reason the document can't be loaded appears to be:
Error loading DataWarehouseLoader.dtsx: The connection type "OLEDB" specified for connection manager "Warehouse Logging OLE DB" is not recognized as a valid connection manager type. This error is returned when an attempt is made to create a connection manager for an unknown connection type. Check the spelling in the connection type name.
Does anyone know what causes this and what I can do? The package has been in production for 9 months and I've never seen this problem before.
Thanks,
BCB

I built a small package two years ago that uses Flat File Sources to copy in small text data files. Â Each source connection object has a UNC path to flat text files on another server. Â The source system changed, so I opened the package and updated the UNC path in one Connection Manager object, and clicked OK. The Flat File Source Editor that uses this source seemed to be able to see the new location when I clicked "Preview". Â Then I went back to the file source, and the connection had reverted back to the original one. Â it would not save the new UNC path. Â
I am using SQL Server 2012 SP2 with SSDT (run as admin). Â I closed the package in SSDT, edited the connection strings using XMLnotepad, and was then able to open, test, build and deploy the package.
It seems that the Source object will not let itself be changed. Â The other option is to delete it and recreate it, but I didn't want to remap the fields.
Why updating a connection object is not working?

I have taken "EXCEL FILE SOURCE" and "SQL Server DESTINATION". It was failed on importing data. Surprisingly it works fine in SQL Server 2005 (x32). Can you please explain why it is NOT woking on (x64) ?
Here is the error code i am getting:
[Excel Source [1]] Error: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
Appreciate your time and patience !!

Once you open the SSIS execute package utility and select a package from a SQL server location, even if you go to the connection managers item (on the left in execute package utility) and change a connection string, it doesn't make a difference.
I have this package that reads flat files into a database. So when I run the package, even if I change the connection string for a connection manager to read a particular flat file and run the package, it still uses the old connection string that was used when the package was initially saved. As always I hate Microsoft for releasing features without even checking if it works.

Hello.
I am trying to remotely connect to SSIS from my PC using windows authentication in SQL mgmt studio and I keep getting the following error message:
---------
Cannot connect to <server>
Additional Information:
Failed to retrieve date for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum)
Connect to SSIS service on machine "<server>" failed: The RPC server is unavailable.
---------
I do not get the same error when I connect to the database engine, just SSIS. I don't have a firewall inbetween the machines either so it can't be that.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? if so, I would be grateful if you can you tell me how you got around it
Thanks

I am trying to run a package outside of the Business Intelligence development Studio. It continuously fails and tell me that my username cannot logon due to a password failure. When I check my connections the password never shows in the connection string and remains blank in the connection properties although I have checked Save Password in the connection properties. Does anyone know how I can save the password in the connection string being utilized in the SSIS package?

Hello,
I am attempting to set up a Connection Manager for a Flat File Source.
Data in my flat file is like this, for example:
"038188306","03/02/2007"
"038C88328","9A9990846","INFY-SW ","L","Z98ZVL97R","2006-06-02"
Row 1 has two columns, Row 2 has six columns (as delimited by the double quotes).
Format: Delimited
Text Qualifer: {""}
Header Row Delimiter: {CR}{LF}
But when I click on the Columns button, it only shows 2 columns. For example, it shows the first row correctly, but Row 2 shows as:
Column 1
"038C88328"
Column 2
"9A9990846","INFY-SW ","L","Z98ZVL97R","2006-06-02"
which is NOT what I want.
I really need help here.
THANKS

I am having a strange problem in that when ever I create a connection to an OLE db source and use SQL Server authorization and save the password, the connection manager seems to "forget" the password. That is, when I click the 'save password' check box, and do a test connection, it connects fine. But as soon as I close that connection window, and reopen it, the password box is empty, and the 'save password' box is still checked. Even if I do a test connection at this point, it wont connect because it does not have the password.
Is this some sort of bug? Is there a workaround?

I have a package which will import data from a single instance, but how do I set the connection manager so that it uses a variable and is populated by a selecting the connection strings from my central database?
Do I use a cursor to select the next connection string?

Hi,
I have been working with a client on a legacy application migration to SSIS and I found SSIS to be very helpful, as this is my first project using integration services I found myself in a situation where multiple solutions can work but I cannot assess the risk of using one or the other and the effort required for the implementation.
The situation is as following, we cannot touch the input files that come from the other legacy systems so I need to get information that is packaged following the next multipart schema:
&Header with context information from the source
&BatchHeader with context information from the batch (including format N)
- Data in format N
&BatchHeader with context information from the batch (including format K)
+Data in format K
&BatchHeader with context information from the batch (including format P)
=Data in format P
Etc... Needless to say that they can come in whatever order and they need different processing depending on the format. I have been tempted to use the techniq shown in "Handling Different Row Types In The Same File" from http://www.sqlis.com/default.aspx?54.
However, there are multiple issues that I have to resolve to do that: First is how to feed the pipeline with the Data in format N and then reparse them in an easy way cause the data that comes from the other system is very wide (aprox 120 columns), so using a parsing script is by no means a viable solution (I have multiple formats to handle). So I do not see a way to treat the data without using a Custom Connection Manager. Here comes my first question: Is there anyway someone can use the already provided managers to handle an scenario like this one?
Next comes the separation, which one is the wisest thing to do: Write again that to disk in as easier format or pass along that information to the next task in memory? The volume of data is in the order of hundreds of megabytes (100 to 200), maybe half a Gigabyte in the extreme cases. How about uploading that to SQL Server and work from there?
BTW, the production servers will have 6 to 8 Gb of memory and 4 to 8 processors (more or less).
Thanks in advance.

hi all,
I m new to this forum and hope i ll get warm welcome from all of you.... thank you
I m Praveen kumar Dayanithi... a master student doin my assistantship in a Company. Kindly help me with this...
Here is my issue.... i would like to know how can i pass arguments to connection manager programmatically. In other words how can i acquire connection manger through SCRIPT task(Vb script). I know it is very easy to manually select n specify database name, table name by right clicking in dataflow task but in my company if i do that it will be very cumbersome for production people to change all the database and table names manually when the project is moved to production. Rather if i programmatically acquire connection manager using global variables it will make production people's job very easy. They have to just change the value of the variables. So can any one help me with this issue.
Thanks n regards

I use SQL Server 2012 and visual studio 2010.I created SSIS Project with task "Execute Package". Control flow view as: Package1 (execute package) -> Package2 (data flow).Data flow in Package2 view as: ADO.NET source -> ADO.NET destination.
When I started Package2, it's work. I havn't errors. But when I started Package 1 I have error "Unable to get managed connection from the Connection Manager runtime". In execution log I see that ADO.NET source produced this error on verification stage. Package failed on verification stage, not on execution stage. Why when I started Package 2 it work, but when I started Package1 (and Package1 started Package2) it failed?

Hi All,
I am getting the following error if I am using the package "Transaction Option=Required" while running through Sql Job:
The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "<connection name>" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
while I running the SSIS package on BI environment, I am getting the following error:
[Connection manager "<connection name>"] Error: The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D00A "Unable to enlist in the transaction.".
I know the alternative solution is to make the "Transaction Option=Supported", but in my case I have run the whole flow in a single transaction. I came to know that this has been fixed in the service pack1(ref. to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914375). FYI.. some time it was running successful.
I have taken all the necessary step to run the SSIS package in a distributed transaction(like the steps for MSDTC) and also created the package flow in a sequence.
I was going through the link - http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=160340&SiteID=1 but all those didn't solve my problem.
If anyone can help me it will be great. or it is a bug in SSIS?
Thanks.

We have 2 SQL2005 servers currently. 1 is a dev box, the other production. To grant remote access to SSIS, I added my developers to the local Distributed COM Users group and also gave them remote Access and remote Activation on the MsDtsServer component.
This worked just fine. Recently we applied SP1 and the follow-on hotfixes to all SQL components. I followed the install order prescribed in the Q article and applied all component fixes. My developers are now unable to access SSIS remotely unless I add them to the local administrator's group. I don't see anywhere that a log gets generated to help me track down what's going on. Nothing shows up in my Windows security log, despite enabling audit logging on: Accout Logon Events, Logon Event, Object Access, and Privilege Use.
Is this a know issue in SP1 or the hotfixes? I'm hesitant to apply the patches to my production box until I can resolve this issue.
Thanks
Steve
