[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]SSL Security error
We got this message and it casued our website down. Although We reboot servers and the problem is solved. But I still want to know the casue.
I use SQL2005 and window 2003 for web server
I am trying to install SQL 2000 on a Windows 2000 Server (with Sp2) machine having Microsoft Certificate Services enabled - for SSL Security.
Half Way through the MS SQL installtion, the following error message gets displayed and setup terminates. "[ODBC]Connection Open. SECDoClientHandShake(). SSL Security Error".
Would appreciate if someone can provide steps or helpful hints / tips to install SQL Server on a machine with SSL enabled ?
what is it supposed to mean when the sync fails and just says "a security error occurred". i verified i can view the .dll from Internet Explorer and view the share from the workstation. i gave up on the normal replication because it kept saying access was denied when it tried to download any of the files in the share... i granted access to 'everyone' for all the files and folders in that share but that didn't help.
We have a project that is in a server with windows 2000 (SQL Server 2005 and .Net 2005) And the other developer has a windows XP machine ( .Net 2005) , We are using the VSSC for the project , when the other developer run the application , the following error is show :

I recently changed the security properties on my sql server from mixed to standard and then back to mix. Now I get an 4002 login failed when attempting to open the security manager. I am able to successfully connect to the server using the same password in the enterprise manager. Any ideas?
Hello, we have asp.net apps on a windows 2003 server that connect to an instance of sql server 2005 enterprise edition on another windows 2003 server. We get this error at random times. Anyone know what could be causing it?

I have a SQL Server 2014 instance running on a SQL Server 2008 R2 server. The server is not clustered, it is just a stand alone SQL Server. The syspolicy_ purge_history job fails every now and then with the error message: "A job step received an error at line 1 in a PowerShell script. The corresponding line is 'import-module SQLPS -DisableNameChecking'. Correct the script and reschedule the job. The error information returned by PowerShell is: 'Access to the path 'PowerShell_CommandAnalysis_Lock' is denied. '. Process Exit Code -1. The step failed."
Google isn't bringing up much besides the whole"If this is a clustered server make sure you have the right server name in the command" answer, which isn't the case here. Some days this job fails and some days it succeeds. I have checked out task scheduler to see if there were any conflicts there, found nothing. Nothing in the event viewer either.
Hello, I am facing a very odd behavior with SQL server 2005. I have a database role with specific permissions to execute only some of the stored procedures in the database. I also have a SQL login/user attached to the role.
If I execute one of the stored procedures from the application (web application, with Microsoft enterprise library database block) I am getting a security error stating that I need select permission for the schema. However, If I execute the same sp with the same parameters from SQL management studio, connecting with the same SQL login as in the application I can execute the sp without any security errors. The SQL management studio is in on a different server than the targeted database.
Are there any differences between executing stored procedures from SQL MS and from application when using the same SQL login?
I am trying to form a replication system but at the very beginning i couldn't pass an obstacle. While trying to create the Replication it says i have to change the user which starts the SQL Agent because the current starter user account is a system account and this will make the replication between servers fail. "SQL Server Agent on OZN currently uses the system account, which causes the replication between the servers fail. In the following dialog box, specify another account for the service startup account." I change it in the properties dialog box of the SQL Server Agent. The new account is the one I formed and granted accordingly. But it gives the following error when I try to apply the changes. " Error 22042: xp_SetSQLSecurity() returned error -2147023564, 'No mapping between account names and security IDs was done' "
I tried many things, searched in the net, changed the owner of the database, applied new accounts, many grants, applied service pack 4, etc...
If anyone helps it will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance...
sServer = "SQLSERV01" Set oConn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
On Error Resume next sConnStr = Replace(Replace(Replace(Replace(Replace(NewConnStr, "%DBUser", "test1"), "%DBPassword", "test1"), "%DBName", "model"), "%DBServer", sServer), "%DBPort", "1433") Call oConn.Open(sConnStr)
This script runs under stripped-down Windows enviornment (Windows PE) with very basic components (i.e. no GUI, only command-line interface). I am trying to find out if there is any client side setting to bypass "self-generated SSL ceritificate" on server. I have tried all things on server side from disabling shared memory protocol, setting "Force Encryption" property etc. Could somebody help me with name of this property? Also, is it possible to not use self-generate certificate on server. We don't want any kind of encryption for SQL connections. Thanks..
i m trying to send message between different server instance using service broker.
and for security purpose i am trying to create certificate. for that i have used makecert.exe and get a certificate and a private key. but when i am creating certificate using that file it is showing error
the code is --
CREATE CERTIFICATE ctfSourceServerMaster
FROM FILE = 'C:SourceServer.cer'
WITH PRIVATE KEY ( FILE = 'C:SourceServer.pvk', DECRYPTION BY PASSWORD = 'PrivateKeyPassword' )
ACTIVE FOR BEGIN_DIALOG = ON
GO
i have created the file SourceServer.cer' and SourceServer.pvk' by using makecert.exe tool.
the idea behind creating the certificate ctfSourceServerMaster is to give transport security.
I am running the particular script in the master database.
but still i am getting error
ERROR:----

All of a sudden our reports stopped working today giving this error:

If I comment out the lines 22 - 25 in the web.config file the reports start to work again, but I am reluctant to do this as I'm not sure what the implications would be if left..
i have recently ported an old asp.net web application using crystal reports 9 from windows server 2003 to windows server 2008 . the crystal reports smoothly at first but one of the reports stopped working when the admin changed his password now the report is showing error. Failed to open a rowset
I know this should be the easiest thing in the world but I cant seem to find out how to allow my windows control library dll which is loaded in a webpage to access sql. It works perfectly from within visual studio though, what do I need to do allow my webpage dll to access sql without throwing a security exception? Any links or help would be greatly appreciated.
i am testing some encryption scenarios ,in profiler the statements like "OPEN KEY" and all "Encrypt" and "Decrypt" functions are removed automaticly from the trace and replaced with a comment ,create a trace and try the code i attached , you will see in profiler trace that that all encryption related commands are commented out ,this is what expected.
but now go to the batch and comment out the "SELECT @rrr' statment, and run the batch ,this batch will fail beacuse "@rrr" is not declared, now go back to profiler and you will see that for the failed batch all the encryption command are NOT COMMENTED OUT !!! esspecially important is the visibility of the password of the open key command.
seems like a very dangerous bug to me!!!

I have written CDE to retrieve and process data before generating the report. It works very well inside VS.Net. However, when deployed to the report server I get the following error
An error has occurred during report processing. Cannot create a connection to data source 'CallsTaken'. Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.
I have added appropriate CAS entry in rssrvpolicy.config file as following

MSI (s) (D8!A0) [21:07:09:062]: Product: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -- Error 29506. SQL Server Setup failed to modify security permissions on file C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLData for user Administrator. To proceed, verify that the account and domain running SQL Server Setup exist, that the account running SQL Server Setup has administrator privileges, and that exists on the destination drive.
Tried running install with a domain account and local account with same results.
Based on the error message, I checked permission on the drive and still received the same error.
Followed resolution based on KB 916766, this did not resolve the error.
Only possible resolution I found was to disable UAP, reboot and retry the install. This will be done as a last resort, but any other suggestion will be appreciated.

I'm suspecting it's a permission error, but I can't verify this. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
I have a piece of Java code that needs to connect to SQL 2000 (SP4) using Windows Authentication. It's running on Windows Server 2003 SP1.
I tried JDBC v1.1 and followed the code from the following blog:
http://blogs.msdn.com/angelsb/default.aspx?p=1
But still get this error as shown below. Any help appreciated.
I am using JDK1.4.2, "sqljdbc_auth.dll" is located under "E:SQL2005JDBCDrvsqljdbc_1.1enuauthx86", also made a copy under "E:JavaTest" and "C:WindowsSystem32" but still won't work.
E:JavaTest>java -classpath ".;E:JavaTestsqljdbc.jar" -Djava.library.path=E:S QL2005JDBCDrvsqljdbc_1.1enuauthx86 TestW2 com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Login failed for user '(null)'. The code is simple (TestW2.java):
import java.sql.*;

I have posted this issue for a week, haven't got any reply yet, I posted it again and desperately need your help.
The article http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365343.aspx says: Model Item Security can be set for differnt security filters, but when I use SQL Server Management Studio to set Model Item Security, it seems "Permissions" property surpass "Model Item Security" property. -- My report server is using Custom Authentication.
For example, in "Permissions" property of the model, if I checked "Use these roles for each group or user account" without setting any user or group, no matter what users I added to "Model Item Security" with "Secure individual model items independently for this model" checked, NO one user can see the model on report manager and report builder;
in above situation, if I added "user1" and gave role such as "Browser" role to "user1" in "Permissions" property, if I checked "Secure individual model items independently for this model" in "Model Item Security" property, even I did NOT grant "user1" to root model and any entities under the model, the "user1" is able to access the model and all entities in report builder.
My question is on the same report model, how to set "AdminFilter" (empty security filter) for administrator permissions and set "GeneralFilter" (filtered on UserID) for general user based on their UserID?
The article also says:
"Security filters are always applied, even for users who have Content Manager or Administrator permissions to the model. To allow administrators or other users to see all rows of an entity on which row-level security is defined, you can create an empty security filter (which always returns True) and then use the filter to grant those users access to all the rows."
So I defined 2 filters "GeneralFilter" and "AdminFilter" for "Staff" entity for my report model "SSRSModel", I expect after I deployed the report model, the administrator users use report builder to build reports with all rows available, and the non-admin users can only see rows based on their UserID.
I can only get one result at a time but not both:
either the rows are filtered or not filtered at all, no matter how I set the "SecurityFilter" for the entity: I tried setting both "AdminFilter" and "GeneralFilter" for SecurityFilter at the same time, combination of "DefaultSecurityFilter" and "SecurityFilter", or one at a time.
We have a new Win 2008 Enterprise x64 server running SQL 2008When we try to connect to the server using Windows Authentication, from a user account which is a domain administrator, we get the following message:"Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error"What needs to be configured here for this to work ?
I do a clean install of SQL Server + RS + SP1 with standard setup on Windows Server 2003. I create a simple report (select * from aTable). This report (actually any report) shows the error message "For security reasons DTD is prohibited in this XML document. To enable DTD processing set the ProhibitDtd property on XmlReaderSettings to false and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method."
This has to do with security settings in Windows Server 2003. On Windows XP everything works fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Edit: The reports do work in the preview tab in BIDS.
I have a stored procedure servicing a queue (sql 2005). The stored procedure updates some data in a different server and database. If the queue contains messages and I execute manually the stored procedure, I don't have any problem at all. However, if I set the queue to use the same stored procedure, it gives me the following error:
Error 15274: Access to the remote server is denied because the current security context is not trusted.
Is there any possibility to schedule SQL job execution as Windows Security Group? I need to run powershell script through SQL job with one of this group member's permissions.Â
I have Sql Server Express installed on Vista (service pack 2)
I have Visual Studio 2005 with an application that I'm trying to access it with within a WCF service.
The login ID of the service is added to the database.
The database has remote access turned on.
The ID is granted access to all databases within the server.
The thread is being set with WindowsProvider and the services set their thread to WindowsProvider.
The dataserver is set with using Windows Authentication for security.
When I open my connection to the database, though, it reports the typically useless message that the connection is not allowed and that the server may not allow remote connections.
How to I get past this? I've done everything right.
I want to use an Active Directory security group that is a Distribution List for a new role assignment for an existing report. Can someone tell me if this is possible? I get an error each time I try:
The user or group name <DLName> is not recognized. (rsUnknownUserName)"
