I have a SSRS 2000 report that when I view the report data does not refresh until I press the refresh data button in the report. Clearly this can't be right and to expect users to press the refresh button every single time is also rediculous.
HAs anyone had this problem before and know what to do.

I have created an SSRS report, but the data does not refresh. I am using the SSRS Report Buidler to create reports and when I run the query in the dataset, the results return as expected. However, when I run the report itself, the dataset appears old.

I am running SP1 and am trying to mimic the functionality of the Select All for the multi-valued drop-down list. I have a boolean field that I pass to the query that populates the multi-valued list and set a field value to either what is displayed in the list or a -1 (a non-valid option). I then set the default value of the multi-valued list to the value of the new field I created in the query based on if they want to select all values or not.
This works great on the first choice, if I select no, nothing is checked in the list and if I select yes then everything is selected. However, if I select Yes and select No, everything remains checked. It acts like it does a refresh, but does not.
Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Here is the scenario: I have a report in SSRS 2005 that uses an OLE DB connection to send a MDX query to an AS 2000 cube. The report has been working fine for weeks. When the report ran today, it returned the row and column metadata, but not the cell values.
I ran the MDX query separately in the SSRS query editor pane, and it returns all values properly. I was also able to perform the query using ProClarity, so it appears that the issue is between the result set and SSRS.
What would cause this to happen?

I have two parameters, lets say P1 and P2. P2 is cascaded with P1. P1 -> P2.
For the parameter P2, the following proterty set are
 1. Multi Select
 2. The default value is all the available value selected (Same dataset is assigned to both "Available Values" and "Default Values")
The data relation be,

Now the issue is,
Step 1 : When i choose A in P1 first time, a,b,c and d in P2 are selected

I had an interesting problem come up today. I have a report that when you preview on vs or click view report on the report server, the report continually refreshes itself. I cannot see that I have written anything different in this report than any other report.
I saw one other append here on a continually refreshing report but that was linked to a document map and this report has not document map.
Has anyone seen this problem of a continually refreshing report?
It's not a big deal as I figure I will just have to write it from scratch again, but I am interested to see if I can stop it before I re-write it.

I want to create reports in SSRS that use cube in SQL 2000, I don't know which type of connection that i have to use,
I tested it with Microsoft SQL Analysis Services, means I connect to my cube with this type , everything is ok in developpement (create MDX query , make reports...), but in production It gives me this error message (cannot connect to the datasource),
so I don't know how to solve this problem,

I can access the reporting website on IE https://webserver/reportserver, and I can up load reports with site interface, but can't use designer 2003 to deploy.

I am working in SSRS 2000, and I have a report using a table. In the footer of the table I want to do a calcuation. I have a textbox in the table called "SumAmtCurrent", which is a sum value for a field in my dataset. I have another field in my dataset, "TotalRevCurrent", and I would like to take this second field, subtract the value in the textbox "SumAmtCurrent", and have the result in the footer of the table. I tried to reference the textbox using ReportItems!SumAmtCurrent.Value - but that gives me the following error
"...The value expression for the textbox €˜textbox7€™ refers to the report item €˜SumAmtCurrent€™. Report item expressions can only refer to other report items within the same grouping scope or a containing grouping scope..."
Is there a way I can get this total into my report?

SQL server 20005 SP2 is install in my WIN XP machine. I implement a SSRS report and try to deliver the report to a share folder in window 2000 server.
I create and set permissions on a shared folder as per the information in http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345228.aspx. The account that I use in subscription is local admin account in the target machine.
I have try path \<servername>c$XXX and \<servername>XXX. Both is not ok.
I find following error message in the log file of reporting service.

All the above works fine, except when I hit add, the data gets added, but the GridView doesn’t update and show the new data. It is working fine but I have problem with this kind of paging. I need to load the whole data into the cursor and i have to fetch records. The problem is that my table's contains more than Half a million records in it. If I have to load each time this cursor it will be a very big problem on the server side.
Probably it may not be a best solution, but sqlserver 2000 cannot provide more help than this. If I use sub-query for this like using Top <Number> it adversly effecting the nature of the data retrieval.
One solution that I am thinking is Load cursor once and whenever some updations performed on those tables from which cursor is getting data should be automatically reflect the changes.
Is this possible? Please help me.

This is a question regarding the use of an XML data source within an SSRS sub-report. This is a two server configuration consisting of SSRS 2K5 and a separate file server exposing xml files over http, IIS 5.
Is it possible, and if yes how, to configure the xml data source to use the application pool identity instead of the current caller identity? I can not turn off impersonation within SSRS. I need to revert to use the W3WC, app pool, process identity within the xml data source. I do not want to configure Kerberos delegation and the file server€™s IIS virtual directory must be set for windows security.

Recently we upgraded the SQL sever from 32 bit box to 64 bit and we encounterd some weird results like data was not refreshing unless we manually does a manually refresh.
we just ran some migration scripts from another server to the new 64 bit server and script is correct only thing problem is with data refreshing.
Please send me the solution for the problem and let me is there any script that we can refresh the database using tsql command???

I created a slowly changing dimension object and used an OLE DB Source object with a SQL Command to feed it. After all the SCD objects are created, I get a warning about a truncation which might happen.
I adjust the source query with the right converts, so the query uses data types and lengths which match the target table. I update the OLE DB Source with the new query. Column names are unchanged.
Now how do I get this data flow to reflect the new column lengths? Do I have to throw away all objects and recreate the SCD? The refresh button in the SCD object doesn't do it. This is also a problem when adding columns to your dimension table. Because I modify the stuff that the SCD generates, it's VERY teadious to always have to throw it all away and start over again.

I am trying to refresh a test database with data from a production database. Both database structures are identical, e.g. constraints, stored procs, PK, etc. I am trying to create a package in SSIS that accomplishes this task and I am having extensive problems. The import export wizard is out of the question because the constaints are not carried over, plus when I try to refresh the data using the import export wizard, it fails on 1 specific table because of a column in that table named "Error code". I think "Error code" is a micrsoft keyword, so it fails on this column. Does anyone know a workaround that I can do to accomplish this simple task, that could be completed in minutes using DTS. I understand that SSIS is not as straight forward as DTS, but this task is something that DBA's do on a regular basis and therefore should not be this difficult.

Normally I would be using SSAS but our finance department make use of Hyperion Essbase. I was wondering whether it was possible to upload data into an Essbase cube using SSIS in the same way that you can use the Analysis Services processing task? I realise there are no specific task for Essbase, but are there any suggestions about what would be the best way of going about this?

If I open it now and look at the report, close it and open it again ina few hours it will show the same report as I looked at originally. When I push the reports refresh button then the data refreshes and shows all the information.
The execution for the report is already set to: Do not cache temporary copies of this report
Why does this happen? I have about 40 reports that work perfectly but this one is giving me problems, any one got any ideas for me? Please help.

I am having a little trouble trying to use the Sum function to get the totals that I need for a project that I am trying to accomplish. The scenario is below:-

I managed to get all the information I needed in the
Report except for Agent Totals. I am having a little
bit of a logic problem on how to get the totals for a
particular agent type with each policy.
Right now my layout only has ONE grouping which holds
the region types. my dataset basically is how the
report is going to look like without the totals.
Is there an expression I can use that would identify
what type of agent that is and then add the total ?
kinda like the following:-

Am I heading in the right direction ?

I have written a sql query which gives me data in report in below format..Need to display data in following format
Client data row has nothing to do with address data row
Client are just a distinct list of
Client and do not line up with any
address . In other words, the order and vertical alignment have nothing to do with the
address on the right.
So I use Excel 2010 connect to a cube I have built. Â Then I change some values in the cube via my ETL and re-process the cube. Â Then I verify that record is NOT there in the fact table - check!
However, when I refresh the worksheet where the pivot table is pulling data from the cube, but that old record wont go away!
Just realized my cube data source on the dev server, was in fact still configured with my local workstation name. Once I updated that, processed the cube all was well.

Im using VS2008, visual basic and SQL Server express.
General questions please: Is it necessary, to issue some sort of command, to 'commit' data to a SQL express database after a INSERT or UPDATE sql command?
I'm getting strange behavior where the data is not refreshed unless i exit my app and re-enter. In other words, i can run a sql command , the data is apparantly saved (because i get no errors) then if i refresh a data set or do a sql select query the data that i expect to return is not there.
Im fairly new to SQL express (and SQL server generally) so i dont know if its my coding or i need to switch some 'feature'
on/off or not.

I'm am writing a report in SSRS 2005 on a local PC that uses cubes in AS 2000 on another server as a datasource. I am using the Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services Extension (OLAP9) to connect to the cubes using windows authentication. I can save and preview the report in visual studio and publish the reports on IIS on my local PC with no problems but when I go to view the report in IE, I get the following error:
An error has occurred during report processing.
Query execution failed for data set 'dataset'.
Unable to recognize the requested property ID 'ReturnCellProperties'.
Have read various articles on the net with no conclusive explanation.
I have seen another post on this forum that suggests using OLEDB for Analysis Services instead but if I do this it doesn't allow me to use the MDX visual query designer. Creating the report using OLAP9 then changing to OLEDB and pasting in the query code doesn't work so well either.
I went and read http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159219.aspx about data sources supported by SSRS 2005 and it should be ok.
I am using sql server 2005 with the latest service pack 2.
Any ideas?

We are in the process of upgrading a SQL Server 2000 database to 2005. For the mean time, we're trying it out on SQL Server Express 2005. My question is, can reports in SSRS 2005 pull data from SQL Server 2000 in case both are installed side by side in the same machine and the 2000 version is the default instance while the 2005 express edition is the named instance?

I have tried the common solution showed on the previous forums..
They worked when there was only one table...
where in i could place a group in 1 of the cells in the table body of the report.
but now since der are 8 tables in the report.. d job is become very tricky.
the page footer is not showing up on all the pages of the report.
it only shows on the first page of the report.

I have a SSRS 2012 report which have few columns with long text. They appear good when viewed in browser. However, when I export it to excel data is shrinking. How can I avoid the data shrinking in excel.Â

In one of my projects, i have been using the SSRS web service to render a report as pdf and then manually emailing it out.
I need to know whether the data set for the report returned any data or not (so that i can avoid emailing the report with a blank report body).
Ofcource this can be done by executing the same query (same as the query for the report) from C# code and checking the count of the resultset, before calling the SSRS Render method. But it might not be an efficient method.
Was wondering the the SSRS Web Service provides an property or method that can let me figure out whether the resultset was empty or not (after the report execution).
