I am having issues getting my report parameters to refresh when changing their values. I am running SP1 and am trying to mimic the functionality of the Select All for the multi-valued drop-down list. I have a boolean field that I pass to the query that populates the multi-valued list and set a field value to either what is displayed in the list or a -1 (a non-valid option). I then set the default value of the multi-valued list to the value of the new field I created in the query based on if they want to select all values or not.
This works great on the first choice, if I select no, nothing is checked in the list and if I select yes then everything is selected. However, if I select Yes and select No, everything remains checked. It acts like it does a refresh, but does not.
I have created an SSRS report, but the data does not refresh. I am using the SSRS Report Buidler to create reports and when I run the query in the dataset, the results return as expected. However, when I run the report itself, the dataset appears old.
I have a SSRS 2000 report that when I view the report data does not refresh until I press the refresh data button in the report. Clearly this can't be right and to expect users to press the refresh button every single time is also rediculous.
HAs anyone had this problem before and know what to do.
We have an Office SharePoint 2007 site, we developed a couple of web parts and added them to our site. We used SQL Server Reporting services 2005 as our reporting solution. The reports are hosted on the report center and when we need a report, we open it by sending a URL requesting the report, passing the report parameters in the URL query string. So the report is filtered based on the parameters passed from the web parts.
But since best practices say that you should host reports directly under SharePoint, by configuring the reporting services to run in the SharePoint integrated mode. We followed the steps and installed SharePointRS and we finally succeeded to publish the reports to a SharePoint folder, but we had a limitation: we are unable to pass the report parameters internally to the report hosted in SharePoint. If we passed them in the query string as the report center case, SharePoint neglects them totally. So the question is: how can I pass parameters internally between a SharePoint web part and a SQL server 2005 reporting services report hosted in SharePoint?
From a aspx page I was able to Pass values (valid values) for the parameters to SSRS report 2005 which uses OLAP cube as datasource and got back the expectd result. but when I pass value other than a valid value i am getting ERROR message. do we always have to pass valid values only? any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi, I have a need to display on screen AND email a pdf report to email addresses specified at run time, executing the report with a parameter specified by the user. I have looked into data driven subscriptions, but it seems this is based on scheduling. Unfortunately for the majority of the project I will only have access to SQL 2005 Standard Edition (Production system is Enterprise), so I cannot investigate thoroughly.
So, is this possible using data driven subscriptions? Scenario is:
1. User enters parameter used for query, as well as email addresses. 2. Report is generated and displayed on screen. 3. Report is emailed to addresses specified by user.
I am trying to develop a report from cube, and it has one drill through report.when i click on sales amount field on main report, then it open the drill through report with details. Here i passed the **(category, subcat, product)parameters(Cascaded)** to drill through report in action part of main report. In my main report i have two columns .
when i click on 100, parameters are passed & it open the detail report correctly, but when i click on 50,the values for subcat parameter is not getting values in detail report and same as the product also.
Is there a way to subscribe SSRS report using dynamic parameters for email and trigger the report from autosys job so that report should generate the exact time the job is triggered.Let me describe, my SSRS report should be triggered on success of one autosys job. i need to send email parameter and time of report schedule from this autosys job.
Does anyone know of a link or list that has all the parameters for the "rs:" section of the URL access parameter, except for the ones in the Microsoft books?
I have kept two Report Parameters "StartDate" and "EndDate" and i have selected From Query and viewed the preview. I got the reults but when i am selecting the two dates it is not validating the condition.
I need the results between StartDate and EndDate. For this i have to set any where in the parameters or is there any other way
I have created two parameters as StartDateTime and EndtDateTime and i am displaying in the Page Header section in the Report as
"Report Duration from " & Parameters!DimActivityStartDatetime.Value & " to " & Parameters!DimActivityEndDatetime.Value"
It is displaying at the runtime in the report like Report Duration from [DimAct].[StartDateTime].&[2007-03-10TO7:30:00] to [DimAct].[EndDateTime].&[2007-03-10TO7:30:00].
But i need to display only the dates. is is displaying with the dimension name also.
Is there any solution to solve this, can anybody help me on this
Hi, I'm having serious issues trying to refresh a schema in a SQLDatasource. It is hooked to a stored procedure that takes two varchar(39) parameters. The default parameters in this case are '%'. Note I am working in the designer. If I set it up as a stored proc, I can't even get the 'test query' to run in the builder. If I set it up as a select statement, ala 'exec <procname> @p1, @p2', the 'test query' will run. In neither case will hitting refresh schema work. It returns 'Invalid length parameter passed to the substring function' The stored proc is nothing special, simply returning a select based upon the parameters. Thanks, Nick H
I have a project where I need to automatically pass 2 sets of parameters to a SSRS report and generate PDF files. I have set the defaults for the parameters based on one set of parameters and created a subscription to automatically generate PDF copy. However, I am not sure how to generate the report automatically using the other set of parameters. Also, I don't want to create two report files to accomplish this.
I am trying to setup a process in which a user, who is using a vb.net 2008 application, will need to trigger the creation of two items. The first is SSRS report which will need to be exported to PDF format to a shared folder on the network.
This report accepts one parameter. The second thing that will need to be created at the same time is an excel file with data exported from SQL Server 2008 which is generated through an SSIS package. A couple things to note. The excel file and the pdf file need to have the same file name, other than the extension.
For example P00000001_20100831.pdf and P00000001_20100831.xlsx and will both be stored in the same network share. The filenames need to be created dynamically at run time and will be based on a parameter being passed to the report.
So far I have the portion that creates the excel file working fine. The way I create that is as follows. I have a stored procedure that creates a job which calls the SSIS package and passes the appropriate parameters to the SSIS package.
After the job is created I immediately run it and then delete the job. Ok, everything works fine with that.
Now I cant seem to figure out how to get the pdf created. If possible I would like to keep this portion together with the already created job or package. I am running SQL Server 2008 standard so the data driven subs are out. I have thought about create a time subscription and then just using a SQL task in the package to execute the subscription but couldnt figure out how to pass the parameter to the report and create the filename.
I have a third party app that passes parameters (main dataset query) from the app to SSRS. Unfortunately, when the parameters are passed from the app they will contain equal signs ("=") in front of each parameter. For example, the parameters that may be passed to the main dataset query should be:
"HYDRO, OKO, ONEPL, TECHNI"
However, the parameters that are passed from the app, get to SSRS as:
"=HYDRO, =OKO, =ONEPL, =TECHNI"
Again, this is for the main dataset query and there may be one parameter or there may be any number of them.
Basically, I need to strip the "=" signs from the parameters. whether there is one parameter or ten.
I believe that I will need a custom function to strip the equal signs?
I have two parameters, lets say P1 and P2. P2 is cascaded with P1. P1 -> P2.
For the parameter P2, the following proterty set are
1. Multi Select 2. The default value is all the available value selected (Same dataset is assigned to both "Available Values" and "Default Values")
The data relation be, P1 P2 A a A b A c A d B a
Now the issue is,
Step 1 : When i choose A in P1 first time, a,b,c and d in P2 are selected Step 2 : When i change B in P1, a is selected Step 3 : When i change back to A in P1, only a is selected in P2 (a,b,c and d should be selected)
I made one report in SSRS 2008 in which getting data from one SharePoint List.
three parameters in report :
Country StartDate EndDate
I am using query which I created with CAML.
query is running well and data is coming correctly if I run this on Query designer.and date format must be YYYY-MM-DD.but when I try to run through on run time then the date control is showing format dd/mm/yyyy.
I change the regional settings of windows and SharePoint site to English(United States). and when I select date control it is also putting date in format like "YYYY-MM-DD'. and in that format report is working well in Query designer view. But on run time still it is not working.
In a report with four cascade parameters, the first three of it are single selected and the fourth and last parameter is multi-select parameter. I want to set up the parameters in a way if the user selected "All" in the first parameter, the following two cascade parameters, second and third parameters will be set to select "All" and hidden. The same theory if the user selected "All" in the second cascade parameter, the third parameter is set to select "All" and hidden. User is required to select a value(s) from the fourth and last parameter. Thanks.
I would like to allow the users to clear the paramaters in a report and start a new query. I tried creating an image and setting the navigation to jump to the same report. This clears the parameters because of the postback but the parameter area collapses. Is there another way to do this or force the parameter area to stay expanded?
We have SSRS reports (pointing to SQL 2012) containing cascading parameters that we have deployed on SharePoint 2013 and once a user makes a selection to the parent parameter, child parameters are getting refreshed based on the selection in the parent parameter and then we see this:
Once we hit Apply, the Loading image comes up and approximately10 seconds later, The whole webpage gets refreshed and the parameter selections get reset to default parameters.
This is getting frustrating because there are about 10 parameters in the report and once a user makes selections and hit apply if the page gets reset, the user has to make all the selections again.
We are working with Microsoft support on this who suggested us to increase the timeout setting of DistributedCache service on all our SharePoint servers which did seem to work initially but I do see this issue happening occasionally.
I had an interesting problem come up today. I have a report that when you preview on vs or click view report on the report server, the report continually refreshes itself. I cannot see that I have written anything different in this report than any other report.
I saw one other append here on a continually refreshing report but that was linked to a document map and this report has not document map.
Has anyone seen this problem of a continually refreshing report?
It's not a big deal as I figure I will just have to write it from scratch again, but I am interested to see if I can stop it before I re-write it.
Has anyone managed to crack getting multi-select parameters to work from an SSRS 2005 report which is querying an SSAS 2000 cube.
SSRS 2005 does support Multiselect, however SSRS 2000 did not. Given that i am querying an SSAS 2000 cube, i get the impression that i am also limited to SSRS 2000 functionality regarding to multi-select parameters.
Is there anyone out there that ever managed to get a wor around, say by using filters on a table or anything really that coud simulate the same behaviour....
I have RS 2005 SP1. I have a report model developed and deployed.
I have a scenario and I am not sure if it is possible to create a report for this scenario using the report builder. Let's say I have a customers entity and address entity that is related to the customer's entity as a 1-many relationship. I have the effective date on the address that specifies the date from which the address is effective. A customer will have multiple records in address with the latest effective date as the latest address of the customer.
Suppose, I need to create a report using the report builder to get the list of latest address for customers, how can I do it? I know it can be done using the report designer using a query that uses the group by clause. But can it be done using report builder?
I am basically new as far as SQl server 2005 concern. I want to try out reporting services provided by sql server 2005. That is make report using sql server 2005 and call that report from web or window application.
Please guide me in doing so or give me some useful link. Thanks
I have created some datasets for my report, and want the user to have the option of selecting the "project" and "activity", OR selecting the "manager" to run the report.
WHERE ( (actv.ProjID = @projID) AND (actv.Activity = @Activity) OR (actv.PADM = @PADM))
In design mode, I can run the dataset just fine, by either entering a project and activity, or by entering a manager. But if I try to preview it, I have to enter something for all three parameters. I have set them to accept Null in the Properties, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Where have I gone wrong?
I have a report in RS that uses a cube as a data source. I made some changes to a cube in AS 2005 and I am not sure how I can refresh my existing datasets without deleting everything?
We have been, successfully, using SSRS 2005 with SQL databases. Now are trying to do create SSRS 2005 reports using an Oracle database. What components do I need to install on our SSRS 2005 server to successfully render a report, in a web browser, using an Oracle 9i database. Any help would be appreciated.
We are currently designing a report which we hope is possible. Each month the clients employees upload receipts as PDF's to the network and then fills out their form as needed.
We are planning to upload the PDF's to a Microsoft Office 2007 sharepoint site which we would like to then pull out and use as being part of the report.
So page one will be a list of expenses pulled from a database table and the remaining pages will then be the PDF's showing as part of the report. I have seen the Jump to URL option but that presents a hyperlink option only. I need to see the actual pdf in the report.
Has anyone done anything similar where they have extract a PDF to show in a SSRS 2005 report
I don't know how best to explain this but will try.
In my SSRS 2005 report, i have one group in my table. In that group, I have a field that for each company record in my dataset, this field value is repeated for each record. This is a transactions table so you'd expect several records in the dataset for each company..that's not the problem.
Footer 209409730.83 (totals up all feegoals! not just unique instances!)
I have a footer, and this is where the problem comes in. I am not able to sum 100 + 400 because if I do a SUM(=Fields!FeeGoal.Value) It doesn't just sume up 100 + 400 but rather (100 + 100 + 100) + (400 + 400)
I can't find a way to sum up basically the top values for FeeGoal which is really what the Group Field is doing since I get 100 and 400 in my group field for feeGoal. I should end up with a total of 500 for my footer total for Fee Goal but not sure how to get this to work in this unique situation.
FYI: FeeGoal is an input from an ASP.NET form to allow managers to update that one column in my report so that other calculations can rely on it in my group fields. Once the user finishes, I run a stored proc to insert that fee goal in every customer transaction record / feegoal field
I guess is there a way to do some sort of Distinct SUM in an expression? I also tried:
but you can't have an aggregate function like this, I get this error:
[rsAggregateofAggregate] The Value expression for the textbox 'GrossGoal_gt' contains an aggregate function (or RunningValue or RowNumber functions) in the argument to another aggregate function (or RunningValue). Aggregate functions cannot be nested inside other aggregate functions.
Where can a person go to report SSRS 2005 bugs? I didn't see any area for error reporting.
These are the few bugs I've recorded, but I've seen so much more :( On 2005sp1, and mainly using ssas 2005 for source data:
When you have an existing report parameter that was created by the graphical query designer area for dataset1, and then you go to make another dataset and add the same hierarchy and choose for it to be a parameter, it will overwrite what parameter settings you just had (ie, not multivalue and a special default value I desired).
When adding subsequent series or category fields to a chart, the default series/category grouping name remains the same and causes a error when attempting to run the report. IE: chart2_CategoryGroup1, chart2_CategoryGroup1, chart2_CategoryGroup1 - all names are the same for all of the 3 groupings that I've added.
When I run a report for a purchase order, the report duplicates records for product codes. For example the purchase order is: P000976, the report display the product code twice when it should only appear once. 45-5540 appears twice.
