Sorry if this is old problem, newbie to these forums.
I have SSRS 2005 trying to connect to cube on AS2000. Getting an error of
"Unable to recognize the requested property ID 'ReturnCellProperties'".
Did google a little and tried a suggested workaround of adding ConnectTo=8.0
to the datasource with no resolution.
1. Has anyone been able to get it to work ?
2. Would it be possible to have SSRS2005 connect to SSAS2005 while the cube points to the tables on sql server 2000 ?
All servers/software are at the latest SP levels including hotfixes.
(windows 2003 servers sp1, sql200 sp4, sql2005 sp2 + hotfix)
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
I'm using Reporting Services 2005 and I can view the report in Visual Studio using the preview tab. After I deploy the report and datasource, when I try to view the report on the report server is says that I must have Oracle Client version 8.xx or higher.
I have the same Oracle Client Version on my local machine and the Report Server with the same DataSource name set up for Oracle on both machines.
Any ideas why this would work on my local machine but not the Report Server?
Is it possible to connect SSRS running on SQL Server 2005 enterprise edition (our production system) to a database running on SQL Server 2005 Developer's edition (our test system)
I'm trying to create a report out of db2 database. I've downloaded OLEDB connector for DB2. AM succusscully getting the connection established and able to preview data using simple select statement. But when i try to desing a table using the dataset and preview it, it thorws the following error Error: "An internal network library error occurred. A network level syntax error has occurred. SQLSTATE:HY000,SQLCODE: -379"
Can anybody tell me what went wrong? do i need to any configuration settings to preview data from DB2 database?
While connecting to Reporting Services from management studio I'm getting following error... I'm having SQL Server 2005 with Sp2. OS is Vista.

Hi all, I need to connect with the Oracle Database for the Reports application. But i am unable to do the same. I am getting errors like ORA-12514,ORA-06401 while trying it. (1) Please tell me about any extra settings need to be done in the listener.ora,tnsnames.ora for getting SSRS connected with the Oracle DB. (2) Tell me the format of the connection string to be used for the connection with the Oracle database. (3) Also which datasource has to used.. Oracle / Microsft OLEDB provider for Oracle for the Same.
I have been working with a BI colleague to access the readable secondary through SSRS. For some reason it keeps complaining that ApplicationIntent is not recognized keyword. I am starting to think it's something to do with the driver for SSRS.
I am developing a J2ee application in which the the Java servlet communicate with the MS reporting services through URL Access. I am using Apache tomcat as application server to run Java servlets. Servlet gets report name, its parameters and forms an URL and send a request to SSRS. The problem is that the RS is not returning any cookie . And I get [HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request].
Both my Reporting server and the Tomcat server are running in Same machine. Reporting Services and MS SQL Server 2008 R2 are configured for Windows Integrated authentication. To login to the Reporting server i am using my local system Administrator.
Does anyone know of a link or list that has all the parameters for the "rs:" section of the URL access parameter, except for the ones in the Microsoft books?
I've had some problems with Reporting Services and getting connected to the database server after configuration. I am now getting the following error message:
The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing. (rsReportServerDatabaseUnavailable) (rsRPCError)
In my Database Setup everything runs fine when I click apply except for the Setting Connection Info for Reporting Server this has a yellow triangle with a ! and says that the report server cannot access internal information.
I also have not been able to Initialize as there are no instances to initialize and none are created when I go through setup. Is there something I need to delete from the registry or the file system that does not get removed upon uninstall?
I have a requirement where we have to connect to two different data-sources one is Database Table and another one is Excel Source. I know we can do this by creating a SSIS package and loading the excel data into database table and then based on some relationship between the tables we can create the data-set in SSRS. But I am looking for some other approach where I can do this without creating the SSIS package.
Is it possible to write SSRS 2008 reports to run on an existing SSRS 2005 server?
If yes, what do I need to do to be able to write SSRS 2008 reports on my developer PC that will run on the SQL 2005 Server (which also has SSRS 2005 installed on it)?
I installed Visual Studio 2008 beta on the development PC and it appears that it needs SSRS installed on it too. So I installed SQL 2008 SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SQL 2008 Workstation Components onto the developer PC. Next I run the SQL 2008 "Reporting Services Configuration" tool. When I click on the "Web Service URL" section it hangs indefinitely and I have to force it closed.
The developer PC is Windows Vista Business.
Any suggestions on making this work, or any other information that you can think of that would allow me to use Visual Studio 2008 and the SQL 2008 "Report Designer Preview" tool to develop SSRS reports that will run on the SQL 2005 SSRS server?
I had SQL Server Express Edition installed. I then uninstalled both it and Visual C#. I then installed SQL Server 2005 Developer's Edition and reinstalled Visual C# -- both on the same machine. I can connect to SQL Server 2005 using SQL Server Management Studio. However, Visual C# is a different story. When I try to add a new Data Connection, it defaults the data source to .SQLEXPRESS, which is no longer on my machine. I can select .MSSQLSERVER, but when I click on either OK or Test Connection, I time out with an error message -- error 25 - Connection string is not valid. The connection string that is shown at the bottom of the Advanced dialog box is -- Data Source=.MSSQLSERVER;AttachDbFilename=E:InventoryDataInventory_Data.MDF;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True
ok so i have set up SQL server 2005 on a Windows server 2003 machine. I am trying to connect to it via ODBC and/or Visual Studio 2005 on a computer running off the same switch. I have set SQL server to accept remote connections and named pipes as well as had the port unblocked. when i try and connect to it via Vista ODBC wizard or visual studio wizard it says that the server is not there or access is denied.
The server is set up for SQL authentication and i am 100% pos that the username/password i am using is correct. i am at a total loss as to what to do to get my vista machine to talk to that SQL server.
We are using VB.NET 2005 (Winform) and the backend SQL Server Express 2005. We would like to connect the Express (.mdf) database from Remote Machine. What type of connection string we have to use?
We tried the following ConnectionString but we got the error: Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Server=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFileName=S:MLJData.mdf;Database=MLJData;Trusted_Connection=Yes;
Also suggest what are all the prerequisites to run sql server express 2005 database in client machine.
We did installed the following tools in client machine:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException was unhandled Class=20 ErrorCode=-2146232060 LineNumber=0 Message="An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)" Number=2 Server="" Source=".Net SqlClient Data Provider" State=0
Hi guys, I have just set up a database in SQL 2005 Express Edition. However, I have a problem accessing it with the application program created in VB 2005 EE. Before using SQL 2005, the application worked perfectly in SQL 2000. Here is my connection string used in SQL 2000:
Dim sqlConn As New SqlConnection("Data Source=(local); Database='Inventory List'; Integrated Security=yes")
Is this valid in SQL 2005 Express Edition? Or should I change the connection string instead? Thank you very much.
I am basically new as far as SQl server 2005 concern. I want to try out reporting services provided by sql server 2005. That is make report using sql server 2005 and call that report from web or window application.
Please guide me in doing so or give me some useful link. Thanks
I'm looking to upgrade to SQL Server 2005 (Standard Edition). I'm interested in using SSIS, SSRS and SSAS. I hear that BIDS runs inside of Visual Studio 2005, and comes with the SQL 2005 software. I currently have VS 2003. My question is: Do I need to purchase anything besides SQL Server 2005 Standard, or do I need to buy anything separately, like VS 2005? (if so, which version would you recommend?)
Hello Everyone, My host just migrated from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005. I have Enterprise manager 2000, but nothing for 2005. Are there any utilities out there that I can download to connect to 2005?
I've spent the last 2+ weeks building a website for a client on my local machine. This morning Updates were installed on my computer because it was rebooted when I came in to work. Now, I cannot connect to my DB that's in my App_Data folder using Windows Authentication. All my other local dev sites are fine!
It still shows my user as being the Owner of the DB, and I can attach it to SqlServer Mgmt Studio Express - with windows authentication - and it shows my windows login as owner.
The error - "Cannot open user default database. Login failed."
Is there any way to connect to Hosting SQL Server using VS 2005. I have only VS 2005 on my computer and Dont have SQL Server. I have a SQL Server credentials on the Hosting server but the problem is the hosting website control panel didnt provide any enterprise manager to work on the database. Thanks in advance.
Hoi, Can someone help me? I have made a website with a database. Local on my pc all work fine. but now i need to set it op on my webhost. all pages with no database access work but the ones with database controls i get : Server Error in '/' Application.

I Can connect to a sql 2005 express database, from visual basic 6.0, locally with no problem. The connection string looks like: cnWEB.ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;" & _ "Persist Security Info=False;" & _ "AttachDBFileName=" & sPath & "viper.mdf;Data Source=.sqlexpress;" where the path is the path to the database file viper.mdf. How would I modify the connection string to remotely connect to a sql 2005 express database running on a web server running 2003 server??? Thanks
I installed the SQL Server 2005 Trial and am now having trouble connecting. When I bring up the ASP.NET Configuration tool and Go to "Provider configuration" "Select a single provider for all site management data" AspNetSqlProvider Test I get the following message. "Could not establish a connection to the database. If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider. " I have already run the aspnet_regsql command-line utility. Can anybody give me some information on how to set this up. I am currently working with the club web site starter kit.
I have a VB.Net Winform application installed at a client’s site using .net 1.0 and sql server 2000. I am in the process of upgrading to them to sql server 2005. The installation of sql server 2005 is on a different machine then the 2000 version. I have installed SQL Server 2005, SP2 and converted the database from SQL Sever 2000. Everything is good at this point. I can even establish a connection through a user’s login.
The Problem is when I try to connect from a client machine using my .net 1.0 application. The client test machine that I am using is a Windows NT Server which may have something to do with the problem. Any way I am getting the following error message.
SSL Security error
From other topics I have read I believe this is something to do with a certificate. The application only needs to connect from within the local network. I have tried connecting using the ODBC Data Sources tool from the client machine I get the following error.
Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver Version 03.81.9001
Running connectivity tests...
Attempting connection [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]SSL Security error
TESTS FAILED!
Should I be using the TCP/IP? Do I need to install anything on the client machines? Do I need to open ports on the firewall? Is there anything else that I am overlooking?
We are migrating an old classic ASP application from a SQL Server 2000 back end to a SQL 2005 back end. The below connection does not work after pointing to the new SQL 2005. It works just fine when pointing to a SQL 2000 db. Did the connection string change for 2005? The UID defined in the connection string has admin rights for the database. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

I am new to sql server 2005 and I am having some problems connecting to it. Hope you guys can help!
I have install the sql server management studio express. At the login page, there is one field which is Server name. However, in my studio express that field is empty. I believe that field should have my server name on it but it is empty. Due to the empty field in the server name, I am not able to connect to the server. Did I set up my server wrongly that explains why the server name field is empty???
