I was wondering if there was a way to do a conditional group in Reporting Services or do I need to create another report? One user wants it grouped by a certain field and another user does not want it grouped at all. I know I can hide the group header with a parameter but I don't want it sorted by the group either.
Can anyone help me in writing this sql query, i want to group my select statement depending on the parameter user is passing.
Say when @group='Cell' I want to group by CellID otherwise different conditions, something like below query but it is not working. I know we can't use case directly in where but please let me know if there is any other work around.
I don't want to use dynamic query and also this is big SP so i dont want to break sp in four conditions.
I'm having a fight with Reporting Services at the minute when trying to compute an average at the row group level for a value summed in a column group.I have the following column groups:
Year Month Date
And the following row groups:
Region Product SubType (hidden, data at the date level is summed to Product)
At the moment I'm computing the average for SubType for each Date at the Product level (giving a decimal value), so for each day I end up with a nice average, that works. However I am unable to average that average over the whole Year for a Product. The issue being that I'm trying to combine Row Groups (Product) and Column Groups (Date/Year)
I have a report that groups on company name, then has a sub group that lists all the invoice details for that company. I want to have the layout put a sum line for those companies that have more than one invoice shown for them, and nothing if only one invoice. I dont want to clutter the report with redundant individual sum totals when there is only one row in the first place. . My first attempt was to play with the visibility of the group footer (entire row) with this expression:
=Iif(RowNumber(Fields!Invno.value)>1, False, True) I get this error:
The Hidden expression for the table €˜datadetail€™ has a scope parameter that is not valid for an aggregate function. The scope parameter must be set to a string constant that is equal to either the name of a containing group, the name of a containing data region, or the name of a data set.
I can't think of another way to do this in the report layout. I could go back to the sql code and do a lot of sql gymnastics to create a row number for each company and base my visibility off of that, but I am really hoping there is a simpler way to do this in the report layout. Any help would be most appreciated!!
I have an SSRS report that I want to use conditional formatting on. When the value of the cell = 0, I want the background yellow, and the font red. For the background, I have:
=IIF(Fields!reads.Value = 0, "Yellow","White")
For the font color, I have
=IIF(Fields!reads.Value = 0,"Red", "Black")
The issue is that the background one is working properly, while the font one is not. If the value = 0, the font is invisible. The value is present in the report (I can export to excel and see it just fine). If I change both the background and font to the defaults, the value is STILL invisible.
I am having trouble setting conditional page breaks to my reports.
i.e... I am having a report where I need to allow user the option to set page break between a group or not.
Based upon the option selected by the user, I need to add page break to the report. I tried with all possibilities inside Sort and Group dialog box, but could not figure out how to toggle the option at runtime.
Does anyone know how to implement page breaks on runtime? Help me plzzzz!! I really need this to be done€¦Thanx in advance for any help..
I am having a problem trying to do some conditional formatting on the text color.
This textbox is in the Group Footer so i essentially want change the color to red if the SUM of one field in the group is less than the SUM of another field in the same group.
I am doing this: =Iif(Sum(Fields!YTDChargeHours)< Sum(Fields!YTDForecast), "Red", "Black")
but i am getting this error:
[rsRuntimeErrorInExpression] The Color expression for the textbox €˜YTDChargeHours€™ contains an error: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.
I have a report in which there is a field called "Returned Qty" and there is a parameter called Show Qty now I want this field returned Qty to only appear if this show Qty parameter is set to yes. Can Anyone suggest me how to do this?
I guess It could be done by using the properties option and writing some expression. I appreciate the response,
I'll try to make this simple. I'm on SSRS 2005 and I have a report with a matrix object that has one row group and one column group. I need to switch the number format only for values where the column group has a specific value.
For example, here are the records in the table: Customer, Type, Amount Customer1, Revenue, -100 Customer2, Cost, 60 Customer1, Revenue, -200 Customer2, Cost, 125
By default the matrix object shows the following (the total comes from the standard subtotal on the column group): Revenue Cost Total Customer1 -100 60 -40 Customer2 -200 125 -75
But the users need the report to look like this, with all positives (why, oh why?! ): Revenue Cost Total Customer1 100 60 40 Customer2 200 125 75
I was able to use the inscope function to switch the signs of the Total numbers. But now I need to switch the signs of the Revenue column from negative to positive (and vice versa), without affecting the signs of the Cost column. It's strange to me because I CAN switch the signs for a specific row group (changing Customer1's number format, without affecting Customer2's format) using something like this:
But a similar expression specifying a column group value does not work, because the report seemingly doesn't recognize the value of the column group at all no matter what I do:
The other reason why this is strange is that I've done drill-through reports off of matrix objects where specific column group values (the ones clicked on) can be passed into the drill-through report parameters. So it recognizes the column group values upon drill-through, but not for formatting?
How else can I do this? I must be missing something here. Thanks.
I've got an SSRS 2008 report with 4 nested groups on rows. Report requirements are that each new group at each level have a subtotal. I've gotten this to work just fine. After the users saw the report, they had a new request - if the SubTotal has only 1 row to Subtotal, do not display the Subtotal. If there are 2 or more rows, display the Subtotal line.I know I can go to the Grouping Properties, and on the Visibility properties select the "Show or hide based on the expression" - I am struggling with the experssion. How can I check to see if there are more than one row at this group level? The query is SQL with 2 sub selects, and 7 tables in various join clauses.Â
I have a chart with series that needs conditional colour for three conditions. One condition must be transparent. I have tried the various IFF or SWITCH expressions below and some work fine in SSDT but when I deploy them to the browser the formatting is lost. This simple IFF expression works. The series is transparent as required both in SSDT (Visual Studio BIDS) and IE11 and Firefox browsers but I need two other conditions.Â
Both of the expressions below work in SSDT (Visual Studio BIDS) as expected but when deployed to the browser none of this formatting is rendered and all series are in blues even the ‘transparent’ series. No red at all.
I have tried deleting various files RDL and DATA. I have tried uploading the file from report manager in IE and I have tried editing the file in report manager.
I have a matrix with six rows and the column is dynamic depending on if any data exists for any row item in a month/year. All rows are summations of data for the particular month. I have a row group that when toggled to visible expands all the rows. Is there a way to restrict the row group to only expand the data in a specific row?
Hello Friends, I have created a report using SSRS and in that report I am using group rows in one of the matrix. When I tried to display the subtotal of that group row by using the SSRS in-built feature the subtotal column is coming at the last of the matrix columns but I want it at the front .
so it will be like this,
First the total should be displayed then the group members value.
I am using three groups in my report on a table. The option "page break at end" is checked in all three groups. It is working fine as for report output is concerned but in print preview it generates extra pages. In print preview page break gets occured at every group regardless of the fact that group break occurs or not. As a result, it is generating extra pages. please help me out
The problem that i'm having right now is on the layout designer somehow programming the subtotals based on the IDs. Am i thinking in the right direction that I should be using the layout designer to do this? Or should this be done programmatically?
I am trying to build a report using SSRS.I need to retrieve a distinct value from my initial query and place this in the header or group row.The detail lines are hidden but may be expanded(shown).I then have another group row in which I require the sum of all distinct values from my previous group row.To explain pictorially I have the following:
-Scroll right to see the pink squares.Note that the total in the pink square is the sum of the individual var3 values distinct so 10 even when var3 =4 in euro currency. -I have tried using sum(var5) but this will give the incorrect value as it sums all detail lines not just the distinct values. -I have tried using another dataset but when referenced the grouping behaviour expected is non existent so where I expect 40 I get 80 i.e. sum disregarding values of var1 and var2 although these are the grouping variables. -I need it to be dynamic so I am unable to use IIF(...).
If I could get var4 or var6 to be the totals I require I could work with that.I have also tried the following custom code:
Dim public unitLimit as Double Public Function Getcpvalue(ByVal limit_amount1 AS Double) AS Double unitLimit = unitLimit+ limit_amount1 return limit_amount1 End Function
I have a requirement where i am converting a Crystal report into SSRS.
My data contains different groups where some of the sections should be suppressed based on Drill down group level. In crystal they are using DrillDownGroupLevel <> 1 .
I have a field on my report that uses the following expression to determine the commission amount for each order line. It works correctly to get the commission amount for each line, however, I need to get a total of the commission amount for each Salesperson.Â
My report is grouped in the following manner:
Salesperson, Type of Sale, Invoice Number, then the detail invoice line items (where the formula below reside). How can I get the totals for the Salesperson and the Type of Sale?
=IIF(Fields!PartIsSerialized.Value=True, (Sum(Fields!OrderLineSubtotal.Value)/Fields!Quantity.Value),Sum(Fields!OrderLineSubtotal.Value)) * IIF( Fields!TransactionType.Value Like "*USED*", (Parameters!CommissionRateUsed.Value*.01),
I am new to matrixes and I have created a dataset which I would like to populate into an expanding / collapsing matrix.
The purpose of the report is to show a list of pallets and their respective stock adjustments. I have laid the matrix out as follows...
I have spent the entire afternoon playing around with this and searching Google, but as yet, I have been unable to get the matrix to display more than 1 record per pallet. Each of the pallets below have multiple adjustment records, yet the report will only display the first one...  If I assign the dataset to a table, it displays as expected.
I am creating a subscription to deliver reports via email on SSRS. Â One of the problems I am having is I can't add groups to the To: or Cc: fields for report distribution. Â I am able to add individual user email which works fine but it will be a lot of emails to add if I have to go that route. So how do you add groups to report subscriptions?
I have a ssrs report with Name, phone ,state and city as columns. I have check box as one of my parameter(optional). If user checks that checkbox then it should group by state, if checkbox is left blank no need to do any grouping. How can i do this in ssrs 2012.
I have a table where I am grouping on one field and would like an individual (separate) count of values from another field of same table. So for example, I have following data:
instance_id, area,       values 101             North      1 102             North      2 103            East         2 104            East         2
I would like to report on Area, and count of rows with different Values types, for example:
Area                           Value - 1,   Value - 2, Value - 3 North                                1             1             0 East                                  0            2                0
I am not sure what the technical term is for such report, but I can group by Area column, and but its aggregating counts on different Value types that I am having difficulty in performing in SSRS.
I have a requirement to display the total of a Group after subtracting a specific value from the same Group.
Example: Say the below data is grouped on a particular columnÂ
Group Values Month
Jan-15 Feb-15 Mar-15
A 10 20 30 B 5 10 25 C 1 2 3 D 5 10 15
Total 11 22 33
Formula is : Â Sum(A+C+D)- Sum(B)
What is the best way to Group the above scenario from SSRS level and display the result as shown above. I am able to display all the values except the last total row where am displaying the complete total i.e. 21 Â 42 Â 73.
How do I dynamically subtract the values for row B which is one of the group values.
I added the row group to show up as the tree view in the left side of the report. But I need it to display the records in the report detail for just that group value for the records when I clicked the group value from the tree view list.
Currently, it‘s not doing that. It takes me to that page where the group value is listed but it lists all other records too (which I don't want).
Is there a way in order to execute a subscribed report based on a certain criteria?
For example, let's say send a report to users when data exist on the report else if no data is returned by the query executed by the report then it will not send the report to users.
My current situation here is that users tend to say that this should not happen, since no pertinent information is contained in the report, why would they receive email with blank data in it.
I have an SSRS 2012 table report with groups; each group is broken ie. one group for one page, and there are multiple groups in multiple pages.
'GroupName' column has multiple values - X,Y,Z,......
I need to group 'GroupName' with X,Y,Z,..... ie value X in page 1,value Y in page 2, value Z in page 3...
Now, I need to display another column (ABC) in this table report (outside the group column 'GroupName'); this outside column itself is another column header (not a group header) in the table (report) and it derives its name partly from the 'GroupName' Â values:
Example:
Value X for GroupName in page 1 will mean, in page 1, column Name of ABC column must be ABC-X Value Y for GroupName in page 2 will mean, in page 2, column Name of ABC column must be ABC-Y Value Z for GroupName in page 3 will mean, in page 3, column Name of ABC column must be ABC-Z
ie the column name of ABC (Clm ABC) Â must be dynamic as per the GroupName values (X,Y,Z....)
Page1:
GroupName          Clm ABC-X
X
Page2:
GroupName          Clm ABC-Y
Y
Page3:
GroupName          Clm ABC-Z
Z
I have been able to use First(ReportItems!GroupName.Value) in the Page Header to get GroupNames displayed in each page; I get X in page 1, Y in page 2, Z in page 3.....
However, when I use ReportItems (that refers to a group name) in the Report Body outside the group,
I get the following error:
Report item expressions can only refer to other report items within the same grouping scope or a containing grouping scope
I need to get the X, Y, Z ... in each page for the column ABC.
I have been able to use this - First(Fields!GroupName.Value); however, I get ABC-X, ABC-X, ABC-X in each of the pages for the ABC column, instead of ABC-X in page 1, ABC-Y in page 2, ABC-Z in page 3, ...
How to insert a row number for a zone wise(ie group by zone column) in ssrs report in zone column  i should get zone1 only once (should not get Zone1,zone1, zone1 -3 times)
sl.no   Zone   District   no.of.region
1            hyd      24 2      ZONE1 chn      12 3            bang     2 1            raj       4 2      ZONE2  vizag    3 3            bbb     34
I have the following code in the color property of a textbox. However, when I run my report all of the values in this column display in green regardless of their value.
