SSRS Report As A Datasource To SSIS
Feb 5, 2008
Hi All,
Is there a way in SSIS to specify SSRS report as a datasource? I don't see any options in the data flow sources..
Thanks a lot!!
Hi All,
Is there a way in SSIS to specify SSRS report as a datasource? I don't see any options in the data flow sources..
Thanks a lot!!
I am currently trying to use a SSIS datareader destination as a datasource in Reporting Services (RS). I have sucessfully developed the report and I am able to execute and see the results from it in the RS preview pane. I am also able to deploy it (same server as RS development and report is on) without errors. However, once deployed, I am unable to get the report to work in Report Manager. I get the following error message:
"An error has occurred during report processing. Query execution failed for data set Dynamic_POS_BO_xRef'. The package failed to execute."
I have read everything in BOL regarding configuration of the RS Execution Account and have configured it with a domain member that has admin rights and tryed it with one that has limited rights (best practice recommendation).
Any ideas about what else I can try?
I decided to delete the encryption key.After that when I go to the reporting page, the report cannot connect to the datasource.
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'xxxxx'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
What do I suppose to do?
Dear All:
I am new to SSRS 2005.
I have created many shared datsources and reprots at http://localhost/resportserver.
I am trying to access these reports from ReportViewer in the web application. Actually I want to use these reports for different customers by just changing the datsource programitically.
Is this is a possible?
Thank you
Theju
Data Source of the report is AS/400 and I need to create a report in visual studio 2013 with ODBC Connection type and deploy report onto share point 2013. How to create report, data source and deploy on share point.
My problem is how we will create ODBC connection with AS/400 and connect report with AS/400.
I have developed an SSIS Package which is the Data Source for a Reporting Services report (using the OLE DB Destination DataReader component - very cool and powerfull!!!).
I have one Connection Manager defined in the package to access a SQL Server 2000 Database. The authentication is set to SQL Server Authentication (per the documentation in BOL) where I provide the UserID and Password.
Here is what works and what doesn't work:
In BIDS on my local machine the report executes beautifully.
When deploying the SSIS Package to my local machine's Integration Services File System and the report to my local machine's Report Server database the report executes beautifully (Yes, I'm using the developer edition).
When deploying the package to a W2003 Server Integration Services installation as well as deploying the Report and Data Source to the same W2003 Server's Reporting Services installation - the report fails.
I think it is because the passsword to the SQL Account is not "set". I am able to run the package through BIDS via dtexecui on this W2003 server successfully. However, when I run the report on the server it fails.
I am guessing it is because the password for the SQL Server Authenitcation is not "there". I am encrypting via "Save SensitiveDataWithPasssword".
What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions would be welcome.
Helo All,
I have report which uses an ssis package as a datasource. when I develop the report on the visual studio seems like it runs fine. But when I deployed the same report on to the server (report server 64 bit machine) it is throwing me an error:
An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source 'DataSource1'.
is not a valid Win32 application. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700C1)
I have both sql sever and reporting server on the same machine and using windows credentials for both the servers(sql and reporting).Then I believe there is no credential issue.
My connection string looks something like this:
="/FILE C:NTSDWKPIKPI_SSISNTSKPICCA_DATA_RECON_DELIVERY.dtsx /SET Package.Variables[User::V_SSRS_PARAM].Properties[Value];" & """" & Parameters!V_SETT_DATE.Value & """"
Could any please help me out of this?
Note: SSIS is parameterized here!
Regards,
Raju
Hello Everyone,
I make a report to consume a SSIS package, actually I use SSIS to load a datasheet on my Sql Server database, then i expose the aggregate values in a datareader destination. Every work fine in Visual Studio. But when i deploy my report and my Shared Data Source, and I try to run the report i get the next message:
An error has occurred during report processing.
No se puede crear una conexión al origen de datos 'ETLSource'.
The package failed to validate.
I dont Understand why, because when i work in BIDS the work perfect, Actually i'm using sql server authentication in my package connection to avoid the mistakes about report credentials.
That is the code of the ETLSource.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RptDataSource xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<Name>ETLSource</Name>
<DataSourceID>c238d65d-a0f3-48da-ae23-323d6ba13bb0</DataSourceID>
<ConnectionProperties>
<Extension>SSIS</Extension>
<ConnectString>-f "C:TempValidaCambioEfec.dtsx"</ConnectString>
</ConnectionProperties>
</RptDataSource>
Also I have SSIS and SSRS in the same machine. And I'm using the same domain Account to run SSIS, SSRS and Reports site.
Thank you for help me

Has anyone figured out a way to create an ssis package that runs a report in ssrs 2005?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to launch an SSRS report from within SSIS, save the results as an excel fiile and then send it to a user.
Can this be done?
If so, can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.
I have an SSIS package. It updates a table in SQL Server 2005 database. There is another SSRS report that presents my final table and I run it and export it into Excel.Is it any way after SQL Query task and Store procedures are being finished in my SSIS package, I add another object to run my SSRS report and export it to Excel format?

Apologies for the duplicate post!
In one of my SSIS Project tasks I insert some records into a table. I want to somehow fire off an SSRS report and send this report to some staff members. how would I add a component to reference or run an SSRS report off the table I just inserted to all from SSIS? I assume I'd h ave to create the report in SSRS first, then somehow reference it from SSIS and then figure out a way to run the report, maybe export it into Excel format and send to the users....not sure how to go about all this in my SSIS package.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a requirement, want to generate the PDF report from source data sql table records through SSIS package without using the SSRS tool. i came to know calling this SSRS report generate the PDF report. but my case without using the SSRS tool, needs to prepare the PDF report.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have created a report using SSRS 2012. To create a pdf report, I use SSIS 2008. When I run debugging in SSIS, the pdf report is generated correctly.
But when I run the SSIS as a job in SQL 2012, the pdf report is generated with o bytes. When I tried to open it with Adobe, there is error, something like - Adobe Reader could not open PPAA.pdf because it is either not supported file type or because the file has been damaged.
How do I pass a parameter from a SSRS report to the sql stmt in a SSIS package?
Mainly need to know the correct syntax of the connection string to use for the datasource in the SSRS report. Every time I add the /SET part of the string the connection breaks.
The connection string i've been using is:
/file "C:\PackageName.dtsx /Set Package.Variables[StartDate];"&Parameters!StartDate.Value
I am trying to setup a process in which a user, who is using a vb.net 2008 application, will need to trigger the creation of two items. The first is SSRS report which will need to be exported to PDF format to a shared folder on the network.
This report accepts one parameter. The second thing that will need to be created at the same time is an excel file with data exported from SQL Server 2008 which is generated through an SSIS package. A couple things to note. The excel file and the pdf file need to have the same file name, other than the extension.
For example P00000001_20100831.pdf and P00000001_20100831.xlsx and will both be stored in the same network share. The filenames need to be created dynamically at run time and will be based on a parameter being passed to the report.
So far I have the portion that creates the excel file working fine. The way I create that is as follows. I have a stored procedure that creates a job which calls the SSIS package and passes the appropriate parameters to the SSIS package.
After the job is created I immediately run it and then delete the job. Ok, everything works fine with that.
Now I cant seem to figure out how to get the pdf created. If possible I would like to keep this portion together with the already created job or package. I am running SQL Server 2008 standard so the data driven subs are out. I have thought about create a time subscription and then just using a SQL task in the package to execute the subscription but couldnt figure out how to pass the parameter to the report and create the filename.
How do I pass a parameter from a SSRS report to the sql stmt in a SSIS package?

Hi everybody,
I would like to know how to create a hierarchy in a SSAS project using a SSRS datasource?
All values are displayed when I drag the field "parent" in the MDX generator...
Thanks in advance for any idea...
"Short" Story Version:
I have a VS 2005 Web Appplication solution that uses SQL Server Reporting Services 2005. One of the projects is a Report Server Project. In this project I have an RDL file that has:
1.)a non-shared XML DataSource (no credentials),
2.)a DataSet with a Command Type of Text and a Query String that is as follows:
<Query>
<XmlData>
<Root>
<LOAD LOAD_ID_PREFIX="" LOAD_ID="" TRUCK="" DIAGRAM=""/>
</Root>
</XmlData>
</Query>
3.)a field that comes from the Database that is of VarBinary(Max) that is a JPEG Image
What happens is, is that by doing #2 above, at design time I can create tables and hook into my datasets and get the report all designed out the way I want. Then at runtime, I have a Stored Procedure that uses the "FOR XML AUTO" option so that I can represent my results from the database in an XML fashion which will allow me to replace the XML Schema in between the Root tags above (in #2) with my actual data (which still has the same schema). I then save the modified RDL to a database table field and move on to happily ever after......in this case, not. In this case, since an VarBinary is involved, unless I want to get a pointer back for the Diagram Column, I have to use the "FOR XML AUTO, BINARY BASE64" option. This returns an Encoded string to represent the Binary value that was in the Database....and this is the partial source of my angst....read on.
My approach that I described above worked flawlessly in all cases where an image wasn't involved. This report is the only report in the whole system I am working on that will have an image and it is the last one being done, so that's why I didn't run into this earlier.
I have tried all kinds of things at different levels, but the thing that I have tried that seemed to me to have the most potential was to use Embedded Code to take the Encoded ASCII Value and convert into something binary that the SSRS Reporting Engine likes (so my image will show), but I have been unsuccessful thus far. The error message I keep getting now from my Embedded Function is: "Invalid length for a Base-64 char array", which I have not been able to resolve thus far....and I do know that the Binary value in the database is good becuase I can see it in pages in my application otherwise.
This aside, is there anyone out there that knows how to take the value of a VarBinary(Max) field and insert it into the Text (XML) DataSet in the markup of an RDL file....and have it appear correctly when the report is rendered in something like the standard Report Viewer Control (or even when being previewed at design time inside of Visual Studio for that matter)?
Just to be clear, the root of my problem, as I see and understand it, is that I have a VarBinary value in a database that is being converted to a string (ASCII...I am presuming) due to how I am writing my stored procedure and then needs to go back to something else binary that the SSRS Engine will accept so that I can see my Image in the report when I render it.
I am wishful that someone out there understands my problem and has run into this and has a solution......but I am wishful of winning the lottery, too, and that hasn't happened yet...............
Thanks.
A customer use SCSM 2012 RTM and recently they changed the password of the account that connects with the datasources that use Service Manager to generate reports. There are several datasources namely DWStagingAndConfig, ConfigurationManager, DWDataMart and other ones.The process to change the password of the account, done via web in the SSRS URL instance of Service Manager, requires to enter in the Manage option of each DataSource and replace the password with the right one in the Properties section; is a really simple step. However, after the change, the only Datasource that not allows to access again to the Manage option is DWStagingAndConfig (appears a message that points out to a report server internal error);I append a extract of the SSRS log related to the problem with this Datasource.

Hello :
Can we make to cross the name of the DataSource in URL of the report ?
Thank you very mutch.
hi everyone,
I created a report model and deployed it. When I open the rpt builder on web I get the following error.
'The selected data source does not have and content available'
Seemed like it would be a easy issue, but I cannot retrieve any data in the rpt model. The datasource I'm using does work for rpts not associated with the rpt model. Any suggestions? It seems like I've missed a step. Thanks, Lisa
I have an xml file that defines the fields in my dataset and I want to hook this up to a report so it can uses those fields when creating a local report. However I can't figure out how to do this. I have an RDLC file but I don't know where or how to hook it up to the XSD file. What do I need to do?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHello all,
When trying to configure a WCF service as a report data source I have these following questions:
1. What do I need to provide for the connection string?
I currently wrote http://localhost:8003/ServiceName/ which returns the WSDL. Is that correct?
2. I don't know what to write inside the Query defintion. I currently wrote:
<Query>
<SoapAction>
http://tempuri.org/ServiceContractInterface/MethodName
</SoapAction>
<Method Namespace="http://tempuri.org/ServiceContractInterface"

Is there a way to create a Report Model with XML / WebService as datasource?
I am able to generate reports that connect to a WebService through Report Designer, but unable to find similar functionality in Model Designer.
I've got a strange problem with ReportBuilder. I've created a DataSource name Config and a Model name Customers. We been using this model for month and everything was working fine. Now when we try to create a new report we cannot run it. When Report Builder is running i select the "Customer" model. Then i put some fields on the report. When i try to run it i've got an error saying that it cannot create the command for datasource1. What i don't understand is why the error occured in Datasource1 and not in my datasource config ?
When i open the Report Manger and click on the model "Customer" the datasource use by this model is Config. So the problem is not because they're is a mistake in the configuration. I've tried to rebuild my model and datasource then deployed them but i still have the same problem.
Any idea of what the problem is ? I can't figure out
I've severals reports that connect to an ORACLE database, in the RDL file i've the save password but when i open the report again ou i use the sharepoint report viewer the username an password of the oracle database is always asked.
how can i configure the RDL not to ask the password again ?!
thx

We have an application using the winforms report viewer, and it displays all our reports perfectly untill I need to redeploy a report.
As soon as a report is re-deployed a refresh of the report in the viewer shows the following error message:
An error has occured during report processing. The data souce 'mydatasource' cannot be found.
This error occurs irrespective of electing to re-deploy ot not re-deploy the datasource, and the only solution seems to be to close the report viewer down and restart it.
I can reproduce the same problem hosting the reports in a web browser as well, with a slightly different error message
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted). The data source 'mydatasource' cannot be found. (rsDataSourceNotFound)
Under RS2000 any changes that were made to a report, would automatically be shown to the user if the report was refreshed, without having to close the browser/application down and restart it.
Can I configure RS2005 to prevent this error occuring ? I have read that RS2005 seems to work a lot more within the IIS session for the user and cache things it thinks are usefull, so can I turn this behaviour off, or make it run like RS 2000 did, which provided me with a stable reporting platform?
If I cannot do this from the RS end of the system, is there any advice on using the winforms control to get around this issue - i've only just started using the control so I am not familiar with all its aspects !
Thanks
Andy
Hello.
I am trying to render a report that I set up with SSRS 2005 from an existing .Net web application. The report takes in a multi-valued parameter (sequenceNums) and displays data accordingly.
This is the url I am passing from the web application:
Code Blockhttp://myservername/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fProjectDBReports%2fCriticality&rs:Command=Render&rc:parameters=false&sequenceNums=4299,4312
Upon redirect, I receive the following error "one or more data sources is missing credentials"
I currently have the following connection settings checked for the DataSource used in the report:
- connect using credentials supplied by the user running the report
- use as windows credentials when connecting to the DataSource
When I attempt to view the report with no parameters being passed in, the report renders properly and I receive a prompt asking me for my credentials.
Do I have to connect to my DataSource using credentials stored securely on the report server?
Thanks in advance.
Sam
ps - i included the url within a code block so no smiley faces would show
Hi,
I have a data table called STOCKPE which holds stock valuation information at the close of business each day. I wish to use reporting services to extract the data in this table on a daily basis and keep a daily history on the report server. I know I can do this - this isn't my problem.
When I have the history of this table on the report server, can the data that the reports on the report server hold be used as a datasource for another report?
I'm no expert in reporting services, so if this is possible, or if there's a better way of doing it, please use small words and short sentences. No offence intended to all the very well educated SQLRS wizards out there, it's just that I'm not one of them and your answer will be lost on me if you use a lot of abreviations and acronyms.
Thanks,
Chris
