Sqldatasource How To Not Load The Gridview With The SqldataSoruce At Page_load C#

1) I was using SQLdataSource and bind it with the gridviw to show its data. so that is how is running
when the page load, i see the data is posted on the page on the gridview.
But what i need to do when I want a user to click a button and then the Gridview show the data.
As i was creating a SQLDatasource, it was click click and click but I want to put that sqldatasouce to load the data in gridview by a click event.
2) my second question is also related to the first one or just similar.
I dont want to get all the data rather filter it.
so once the page load, there is a button and a text box.
In the text box user going to type the EmployeeID and click the "Employee Info" button and then the data would show up.
Rather i use te DetaildView Control . What should I do to load the information on the Text boxes rather then on the GridView since it is going to be a single recrod.

Setting SSRS Data Source Via Script
Sep 6, 2007Is there a command that can be used to set the account and password of an SSRS data source? I want to use a datasource that uses the option "(windows) credentials stored securely in the report server". The password for the account to be used can not be known by any humans (or we have to kill them after) so we want to set it programmatically. Is this possible via a command?

I saw some documentation that said to use defaults in the report but that does not help because I may want multiple subscriptions with different params like 1 person may want (today - 2 months) as the start date ...

Setting BackgroundColor Of Report Elements In SSRS

Has anyone seen the error:
[rsInvalidColor] The value of the BackgroundColor property for the textbox €˜textbox14€™ is €œTransparent€?, which is not a valid BackgroundColor.
This is appearing when I set the BackgroundColor property in a SSRS report using an expression. What I'm trying to do is have the colour of the text and background returned by the stored procedure that returns the data for use in Matrix and Table. But the problem seems to relate to all controls in SSRS 2005.
Steps to reproduce are create a new report, add a TextBox.
Go to properties of the textbox and select the Backgroundcolor and select Expression...
Then add the expression:
="Transparent"
Transparent doesn't seem to be a constant, but does appear to be a value you are allowed to selected (and is the default) from the drop down in the background colour.
The work-around is to use White, which works if you don't use a background image or change the background colour of the page.
However if you do us the "Transaparent" colour, then it does return the correct effect, but generates an error in the Output window within the development environment. I'm just ignoring the error for the time being. but has anyone else seen this error.

Setting The Range Of Values For SSRS Parameters
May 8, 2007Hoping someone may be able to help with a problem I'm having with SSRS parameters....
My report has 2 parameters - the User Id used to login to the application and the Department(s) within the organisation. Based upon the User's role, the user may have access to data for one or many Departments.
Thus, the first parameter needs to be set in code based upon the User's login, however, the range of the second parameter (i.e. the range of Departments that the user can access) is controlled by the value of the first parameter.
The second parameter is to appear as a drop-down of Departments to which the User has access.
The report is to be produced for the selected Department.
Are you able to advise how to restrict the range of values for the second parameter based upon the value of the first parameter?
Any help is much appreciated.
SQL 2012 :: SSRS Security Setting / Can't Get Them On Report Level
Aug 11, 2014I work on test SSRS setup and trying to give one user enough rights so she can download RDLs from server, but no matter what I do on Folder leverl, on report level her security are still only as a <Browser>. Structure of our Server is:
Home/NewReports/Misc/Report01.
I'm checking those in <Folder Settings>/<Security> where this user is OK (Browser, Content Manager, Publisher, Report Builder).
So she looks OK in all folders Home/NewReports/Misc, but on report level she still only a browser.
Our db team tried everything on SSRS server working with Site settings and Folder option, how to make that report inherit security ?

I have 2 questions to ask:
1) How can I fix this Compilation Error BC30451: Name 'SqlDataSource3' is not declared?
2) I just read MSDN Visual Studio 2005 Technical Article "Data Access in ASP.NET 2.0" and I saw the following thing:

I am using the website application in VWD 2005 Express to do the task of extracting data values from the Tables of SQL Server 2005 Express via .NET Framwork, ASP.NET 2.0 and VB 2005 programming. Can VWD 2005 Express be configured to SQL Server 2005 Express (SQLEXPESS) for the SqlDataSource connection and do the data-extraction task via DataView, CType Function and the Page-Load procedure?
Please help, respond and answer the above-mentiopned 2 questions.

Sep 22, 2015I have a SSRS report that uses a custom library. The custom library returns a string values, and I have tested this with a windows application.In the SSRS report. I have set the expression value for a text box as  =CodeReportingLibrary.CodeReportingFunctions.GetImage(1232)
However, when i preview the report the text box value shows as #ERROR. I checked the error list and I get a warning message : Warning 1 [rsRuntime ErrorIn Expression] The Value expression for the textrun ‘Textbox5.Paragraphs[0].TextRuns[0]’ contains an error: Attempt by security transparent method 'CodeReportingLibrary.CodeReportingFunctions.GetReferenceImage(Int32)' to access security critical method 'Microsoft. TeamFoundation. Client. TfsTeamProjectCollection..ctor(System.Uri)' failed.  Assembly 'CodeReportingLibrary, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is partially trusted, which causes the CLR to make it entirely security transparent regardless of any transparency annotations in the assembly itself.  In order to access security critical code, this assembly must be fully trusted.
I have updated the rssrvpolicy.config in ReportServer folder, to include my custom dll.

The default value for the parameter "Location" comes from the another another multi valued  parameter. Now say when the default value is set for the parameter Location like the below:
The Location parameter data set has values from the Query and default values has been set as shown below:

SSRS -- Security Filter And Model Item Security Setting

I have posted this issue for a week, haven't got any reply yet, I posted it again and desperately need your help.

Model Item Security can be set for differnt security filters, but when I use SQL Server Management Studio to set Model Item Security, it seems "Permissions" property surpass "Model Item Security" property. -- My report server is using Custom Authentication.
For example, in "Permissions" property of the model, if I checked "Use these roles for each group or user account" without setting any user or group, no matter what users I added to "Model Item Security" with "Secure individual model items independently for this model" checked, NO one user can see the model on report manager and report builder;
in above situation, if I added "user1" and gave role such as "Browser" role to "user1" in "Permissions" property, if I checked "Secure individual model items independently for this model" in "Model Item Security" property, even I did NOT grant "user1" to root model and any entities under the model, the "user1" is able to access the model and all entities in report builder.
My question is on the same report model, how to set "AdminFilter" (empty security filter) for administrator permissions and set "GeneralFilter" (filtered on UserID) for general user based on their UserID?
The article also says:
"Security filters are always applied, even for users who have Content Manager or Administrator permissions to the model. To allow administrators or other users to see all rows of an entity on which row-level security is defined, you can create an empty security filter (which always returns True) and then use the filter to grant those users access to all the rows."
So I defined 2 filters "GeneralFilter" and "AdminFilter" for "Staff" entity for my report model "SSRSModel", I expect after I deployed the report model, the administrator users use report builder to build reports with all rows available, and the non-admin users can only see rows based on their UserID.
I can only get one result at a time but not both:
either the rows are filtered or not filtered at all, no matter how I set the "SecurityFilter" for the entity: I tried setting both "AdminFilter" and "GeneralFilter" for SecurityFilter at the same time, combination of "DefaultSecurityFilter" and "SecurityFilter", or one at a time.

If yes, what do I need to do to be able to write SSRS 2008 reports on my developer PC that will run on the SQL 2005 Server (which also has SSRS 2005 installed on it)?
I installed Visual Studio 2008 beta on the development PC and it appears that it needs SSRS installed on it too. So I installed SQL 2008 SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SQL 2008 Workstation Components onto the developer PC. Next I run the SQL 2008 "Reporting Services Configuration" tool. When I click on the "Web Service URL" section it hangs indefinitely and I have to force it closed.
The developer PC is Windows Vista Business.
Any suggestions on making this work, or any other information that you can think of that would allow me to use Visual Studio 2008 and the SQL 2008 "Report Designer Preview" tool to develop SSRS reports that will run on the SQL 2005 SSRS server?

I'm curious of what happens to the SQL Server Stored Procedure after timing out from the ASP.NET application. Does it timeout at the same time or do you have to set up a value in SQL Server?

Jan 31, 2004Hello, I am a SQL rookie. I have followed the tutorial and installed MSDN as it says. However, I am unable to create a database with WebMatrix. I keep getting an error that reads "SQL Server does not exist or access denied. ConnectionOpen (Connect())."
When I loaded the SQL, everything seemed to go well. I got all of the results that the tutorial said I should.

Setting Up SQL To Use A SAN.
Jan 17, 2006If you have a SQL server setup that isn’t using a SAN but just a normal raid array and you wanted to utilize a SAN now.
What are the steps, I'm guessing that you will need to start the services under a domain user correct?
Is it as easy as detaching the DB and then reattaching the DB on the SAN?
I'm assuming you need to map the data and log arrays from the server to the SAN correct?
I can’t seem to find any documentation on moving a server to a new SAN. Can someone post links if you have them?
Do you need ENT edition or is Standard OK .

I'm trying to set up a new job to update a field in the table, I've managed to get the select syntax to work, but when I added an IF statement and Update syntax it didn't like it and the following error was shown:-

This is the syntax I'm trying to use for the job:-

Setting it to false or 0 results in error: "Incompatible types: 'Object' and 'Boolean' (or 'Integer')"
I've tried to cast them as objects and that didn't work. I don't understand why something like 'false' (as a string) will.
FYI: I'm using Delphi.NET and hating it.

Dec 30, 2006Hi, I have just started with ASP, and have a problem. I have created a stored procedure which looks to a specific tablename for information, based upon the users choice from a dropdown list.
The control works fine when executed from within visual web developer, and I manually enter the value that the variable expects. However I can not get the dropdown listbox value to be written to the SQL value. I have tried for days, traweled the net for answers, borrowed 3ft in height of SQL books! so either I am doing something fundamentally wrong, or I am missing something. My SP is:

any pointers in the right direction would help.
The object of this is for two drop down boxes - the first is populated from one database of categories, the selection of which populates the second drop down list with items from within that category.

Setting Up A Cluster

I've gotten approval at my work place to implement a new web server cluster. We currently have one web server running Windows 2003 and one SQL 2005 box. I've gotten approval to purchase 2 new web servers that will eventually become our primary servers.
I've browsed Microsoft's site but can't seem to find any FAQ's or How-Tos on clustering that are of any help. Is there anyone out there who has some info that could help me get started?

Setting Up SQL Database
Apr 7, 2007I have been using MySQL as the back end of my .Net 2.0 applications for a while using a custom membership provider without any problems.Having now switched to a new webhost which supports both MySQL and MS SQL Server 2005 and also creating a new site thought I should set up the new site to use MS SQL..... I am having trouble however setting up the SQL server to act as the membership provider. Following the advice on here I tried using aspnet_regsql.exe... Firstly, when trying to get the list of databasses on the remote server I get the following error: Failed to query a list of database names from the SQL Server. Invalid object name 'Sysdatabases' If I then just type in the name of my database and go through to the end I get the following error:Exception:An error occurred during the execution of the SQL file 'InstallCommon.sql'. The SQL error number is 8152 and the SqlException message is: String or binary data would be truncated. I can connect to my MS SQL server remotely without any problem using the likes of MS SQL Server Management Studio Express. Is there any other way I can setup the databases needed for user and roles access control or is the usage of MS SQL much more complicated than what MySQL was?

my host required to have a fix IP in order to access his SQL Server database.
I got the fix IP, but I don't know where to define the port number while creating a SQL Server connection in Enterprise Manager.
Anyone knows ?
