Hi,
In a .net application there is a link that brings up a SSRS report.
I have noticed that if it is the first time this report is requested i.e. Application has just been opened and the report button is clicked, then it takes a while to get this report to appear on the screen. But if this report is requested again (i.e. for the second time or more) then it only takes a few moments for the report to appear on the screen.
So it seems that only the first time the report is requested it takes a longer time to get this report. Is there a way to reduce this initial load of the report?
Thanks
Does anyone know of a link or list that has all the parameters for the "rs:" section of the URL access parameter, except for the ones in the Microsoft books?
Is it possible to write SSRS 2008 reports to run on an existing SSRS 2005 server?
If yes, what do I need to do to be able to write SSRS 2008 reports on my developer PC that will run on the SQL 2005 Server (which also has SSRS 2005 installed on it)?
I installed Visual Studio 2008 beta on the development PC and it appears that it needs SSRS installed on it too. So I installed SQL 2008 SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SQL 2008 Workstation Components onto the developer PC. Next I run the SQL 2008 "Reporting Services Configuration" tool. When I click on the "Web Service URL" section it hangs indefinitely and I have to force it closed.
The developer PC is Windows Vista Business.
Any suggestions on making this work, or any other information that you can think of that would allow me to use Visual Studio 2008 and the SQL 2008 "Report Designer Preview" tool to develop SSRS reports that will run on the SQL 2005 SSRS server?
Can anybody give share with me how to establish the basic connection between SQL Reporting Services and Great Plains 9.0? They are on two separate servers if that makes a difference.
Hi. We currently have about a 100 Crystal Reports with embedded images and text in the *.rpt files. If we were to switch to SSRS 2005,
Can we do a global search-and-replace of images and text within the SSRS reports? We have some letterheads that have names of people who might change every year or two.
Are there any tools to convert Crystal Reports *.rpt files to SSRS reports? These 100 reports would be time-consuming trying to convert to SSRS. Thank you much Alex
I have an ancient app that produces a pipe delimited file for the printing of certain invoices (which i can present in reporting services). I am able to fire a batch file or script from this able and pass the name of the file through to the script...
My question is: is it possible to have the stored procedure fire a DTS pkg to "massage the data" before running the report?
Has anyone had any experience doing this or other ideas i could try. i'm using SQL2k
i want to display a report in SSRS in two groups 1st group (001, 021, 003, 005) there is no 022 in this table where in another group (006,036) there is no 002. it should display as follow with the total of sales
I am going to Intsall SSRS on Cluster load balanced web servers. Shall i install SSRS on both nodes? When i go to msdn, the caption as:
"You must use other products to support access through a virtual server and cluster deployment. Reporting Services does not provide load balancing functionality or virtual server features that allow you to access all report server instances through a shared URL address."
I have my vip and virtual url ready for installation. how can i install SSRS in high availability? please advice. Thanks.
I am fairly new to SSRS. I want to install SSRS on my local system which has OS of Win XP sp2 (not a server). I have installed SQL Server instance on this box. Can any body tell if i need Win Server 2000 or 2003 OS to install SSRS or can i use Win XP, if so please give some guidelines.
Hello everybody, I'm new to SQL,I have a interview tomor,so please i need a website from where i can get questions related to SSIS & SSRS.Please help me. Thanks in advance
I'm trying to set up the Report Manager Virtual Directory. But the little X just wont turn into a tick - even though I click New, then OK, then Apply.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I've managed to get SSRS running before but for the life of me I can't get it going! So annoying! Does anyone have a link to a simple Walkthrough or something for getting SSRS of the ground so that when you navigate to http://localhost/reportserver, you don't get "The Page can not be found".
Hi All, I have a project in MS Acces, I have to do the entire project in .Net.. The same MS Access Project has a lot of reports and For these reports I have to use SSRS..So, I need to know about importing the Access reports to SSRS.. Is this advisable to import the reports from MS Acces to SSRS or to create new reports in SSRS..If I import the MS Access reports to the SSRS ..can I use them as the same as that of the newly created reports in SSRS.. As I imported all the reports but failed to understand how the query is written...and how the data is drawn from the datasource...As I dont have nay data in my SQL Server 2005.. How the reports are showing the data..in SSRS when they are imported from ACCESS..as my SQL Server has no data in it...Please help me it is very urgent..I am new to the reporting ..so need more information where I can Learn more..
My Maijn question is that is this Advisable...to import the Reports from MS ACCESS to SSRS or build the new reports..If imported what are the measures I have to take...to look and feel the reports as that are made freshly in SSRS...The reports are really big ones in MS ACCESS.. Replies needed ASAP..
I have created an area graph. My requirement is the following:-
When the user moves his mouse over the graph on different points, the values corresponding to that points should be shown as a tool tip or as a textbox value.
Any idea to capture the values in the graph(Category,Series and Data values) and display them in a textbox or tool tip in a SSRS chart?
[also posted on the log4net-users list, but figured this is also a good place to ask]
Greetings,
We've been having a hard time convincing log4net to work under SSRS. If anyone has had any positive experiences or suggestions, I would appreciate your feedback. We are implementing custom (data and security) extensions and have done the following:
All our assemblies (including log4net.dll) in Reporting ServicesReportServerin: - Have read/execute permission for SQLServer2005ReportingServicesWebServiceUser and SQLServer2005ReportServerUser users. - Are built with AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers assembly attribute set. - Have been added with FullTrust to rssrvpolicy.config.
Reporting ServicesReportServerweb.config has requirePermission="false" in the log4net section in configSections.
We are testing using the UDP Appender, and have other ASP.NET and console test applications successfully logging from the same box to Apache Chainsaw on another box. The test apps are using the same UDP appender configuration as well as the same logging framework we implement in our SSRS code. i.e. a LogFactory producing ILog objects and invoking Config.XmlConfigurator.Configure() if not already configured.
If I turn on log4net internal debugging and output to a file (as per the FAQ), I get:
"log4net: AppenderSkeleton: Finalizing appender named [UdpAppender]."
and then after a while:
"log4net: Hierarchy: Shutdown called on Hierarchy [log4net-default-repository]"
I have two beginner questions: 1. How should I set up report layout/printing format so it would fit to the page? 2. Is there a way to change the color of every other row in the table? Can I highlight the rows based on some kind of a condition? Thank you.
I am wokring on HP9000 system which uses Oracle 7.3 version on it. I am creating a Procedure to get the results as a REF cursor as suugested by this articale http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=382454&SiteID=1.
If I select Oracle as a datasource unfortunately I am getting this message " System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater" and if I select ODBC as a datasource and trying to connect I am getting this message " ERROR [42000][Oracle][ODBC][Ora]Ora-00900: invalid SQL Statement (SQLORA32.DLL)".
I created this procedure in side a package and I am calling it as Package.ProcedureName
I need some inputs regarding the following points related to the SSRS reports: 1. We have a table in the report and we want to change the display order of the columns when downloading the report in the CSV format. What could be the possible approach for this?
2. How to set bookmarks for a report when downloading the report in the PDF format?
3. We have a table in the report and we are hiding few cells of the table based on some condition. Now when a particular cell is made invisible, a blank space exists at the location of that cell. The requirement is that if we hide one cell, the cell below it must shift above i.e at the location of the hidden cell.
In SSRS if we hide one row of a table, then the row below it automatically shifts upwards, but this is not applicable for a table cell.
Could anyone please provide vaulable feedback on these points?
The result of my t-sql queries gives me many columns and less rows i.e there are four quaters as rows and there are around 10 columns like sales , customer , material ....
So if i can transpose columns to rows and rows to columns some how then the report will be more presentable according to me.
I tried to uninstall SSRS and SQL Server from my machine. I removed it using ADD/REMOVE Program. Now I can not see SQL Server in ADD/REMOVE Program. But Still SSRS is runing in my machine. But I can not initiate SSRS in configuration manager. It says smthing abt WMI error. When I try to install SQL, it says another service is running. Now I think If I remove SQL and SSRS from my machine smhow, and install it again I can fix this. But now I can not either install it or uninstall it. Can smone please help me?
Hi. Is it possible to create a report via SSRS and deilver it via the subscription service in an email such that when user opens their own report (filtered by their user id) they can then dynamically change filters (cbo boxes) a la an excel pivot table which will then refresh the data in the report for them?
I can't seem to find a way to do this. Drill-down is not what is wanted...they want to simply cheange selections in cbo boxes and have the data all refresh.
i want to know that how much performance of ssrs will be vary when i m installing ssrs on same machine where my database is stored, or when i m storing ssrs on different machine and database on different machine.
I am in the process of evalulating using SSRS with our Java app and I have a couple questions up front:
I see you can call SSRS thru web services and display an HTML report. Can you have the report go straight to the printer, rather then preview. So we can offer both Print and Print Preview options.
I see the page streaming option. So on page preview we could ask for page 1 to get a snappy display, then ask for the rest of the report to generate in background?
