When I try to run a simple table report using Safari or Firefox the experience is less than stellar.
Using Safari the report never returns, basically the pag body is blank.
Using Firefox the table layout is very compressed.
Anything changes in the works to allow the reporting server to be used by non IE browser.
We run in a multi-platform environment and need the multiple browser support.
Thanks.

I was using Windows 7 and had SSRS 2014 installed.Having set up the inbound rule on Windows Firewall (port 80), to allow SSRS through, I was able to browse to the Report Manager URL, by opening up Internet Explorer as 'Administrator'..
However, now that I have upgraded to Windows 10, I am unable to open the URL.In fact there is now way for me to open Edge as administrator and open my Report Manager URL.

I would like to know how to show all the records returned (upto 1000) in one single page on a web browser. I am able to get the required report in IE but in case of Firefox it hangs.
Did some test and found that Firefox is able to render a report of upto max 300 records in a single page without getting hanged but report is coming very slow. While you scroll the scroll bar it€™s moving with Jerks. with 200 records in a single page is not getting hanged but report is faster than 300 records display. But by 500 records Firefox hangs. I understand it might be depending on the hardware also but am not sure.
Can anybody give me a good solution to display upto 1000 records in a single page or if its a limitation, where can i get the documentation of it.
Thanks and regards

Following are the Toolbar icons displayed:
1. Search.

It seems the features are disabled when using any of the above because of compatibility issues with scripting/ActiveX not being properly supported by the FireFox and Chrome.
I believe the control determines the browser you are using is not IE and will not render the controls to prevent unexpected behavior because if the lack of ActiveX support. This can be seen when you compare the HTML of a page using IE8 and that of either IE11, FF, Chrome you'll see that the HTML for a zoom drop down control will show up in the IE8 browser and not in the others.
As for IE11 it presents itself as a Mozilla browser. eg: "User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/7.0; rv:11.0) like Gecko" so when the control see's this it wont generate any of the controls believing the browser can't support it, even though IE11 should certainly be capable of doing so. I wanted to know if this is correct and if this is a bug?

When I deploy a report, and then browse to it with FireFox, I only see 2 inces of the report. I can scroll through the entire report, but only see the 2 inch window's worth at any time.
Its like the html element the report gets put into has a hard coded height, and doesnt auto size to show the eintire report.
It works fine with IE, but we are a FireFox shop.
Anyone know how to fix this?

I have a chart with series that needs conditional colour for three conditions. One condition must be transparent. I have tried the various IFF or SWITCH expressions below and some work fine in SSDT but when I deploy them to the browser the formatting is lost. This simple IFF expression works. The series is transparent as required both in SSDT (Visual Studio BIDS) and IE11 and Firefox browsers but I need two other conditions.Â
=IIF(Fields!ExhibitionID.Value = -1, "#00ffffff", "Red")
Both of the expressions below work in SSDT (Visual Studio BIDS) as expected but when deployed to the browser none of this formatting is rendered and all series are in blues even the ‘transparent’ series. No red at all.
=IIF(Fields!ExhibitionID.Value = -1,"#00ffffff", IIF(Fields!ExhDepartment.Value = 27,"Orange","Red"))
=Switch(Fields!ExhibitionID.Value
= -1,"#00ffffff",Fields!ExhDepartment.Value = 27,"Orange",(Fields!ExhDepartment.Value <> 27) AND (Fields!ExhibitionID.Value <> -1),"Red")
I have tried deleting various files RDL and DATA. I have tried uploading the file from report manager in IE and I have tried editing the file in report manager.

Hi -
I got through the installation hoops for SQLEXPRESS Reporting Services in Vista and set up the default configurations in Report Services Configuration. I can explore the default directory for "Reports" in IIS7, but I can't browse in IE. I get the "The report server is not responding. verify that the report server..." message in the browser. This is after I migrated the app per the initial http 500 error using the preferred method - %systemroot%system32inetservAPPCMD.exe migrate config "Default Web Site/Reports".
I'm running Vista Ultimate, VS2005, SQLEXPRESS SP2. I've tried running IE as admin and also I've disabled UAC from gpedit.msc - ...Windows SettingsSecurity SettingsLocal PolicySecurity Options and unchecking UAC.
Thanks,

Hi,
I have created a sample report called Report1 in SSRS 2005. This currently is running locally on my workstation.
I can even browse to it using the http address i.e. http://localhost/Reports
The question is: How can someone else access this report on my machine. They can not browse to my machine by typing http://12.32.2.344/Reports
Do I need to do any configuration in my local IIS?
Thanks

How do I set up the report to make it show up as full screen report without all the details above?

I have a very simple test report created in Visual Studio 2005 as an rdlc file in my dll. The rdlc file is in the dll because it is built off of the business objects. I need to be able to stream this file (i.e. not use a report viewer) to the browser.
I found code that I included below, but get an error:
The report definition for report 'Monkey.Report1' has not been specified
Yes my test namespace in my dll is named "Monkey" )
Anyway, any idea on how to solve this?

LocalReport localReport = new LocalReport();
localReport.ReportEmbeddedResource = "Monkey.Report1.rdlc";
ReportDataSource reportDataSource = new ReportDataSource("FamilyCollection", Monkey.Family.RetrieveAll());
localReport.DataSources.Add(reportDataSource);
string reportType = "PDF";

I am planning to use SQL Reporting services in a new remote hosting centre and must provide ad-hoc reporting to a small number of users plus the access to running of previously prepared reports to a wider user base. User access must be thin client, browser based.
The client workstations are locked down to a particular security configuration and there is no possibility of installing .Net Framework on them. Normally, only browser-based applications can be used at the desktop client.
Apart from using Reporting Services (Citrix), what options do I have to provide users with the Report Builder in this scenario please? Are there any COTS packages that would provide this functionality?

I've made a report in which there are always one tablix under each textbox. I tried to produce a document map by giving document map labels for each textbox.
Everything works fine in Report Builder (3.0), but when run in the browser (IE, Firefox) the document map doesn't seem to work: when trying to navigate with document map by clicking the labels the report runs to the end of the report - not to the textbox where it should go...
I tried to solve problem using bookmarks instead of Document map, but there similar problem occurred. Bookmarks seem to work with Google Chrome, but I need a solution that would work better in most of the browsers.
So the problem seems to be that document map label navigates to bottom of the page. Added pagebreak after each tablix worked but since the tablixes are longer than screen there's still problem - document map should be set to navigate to the top of the page.

I have designed plenty of reports in VS 2005 and have been deployed on the reporting server. I have been designed one web page which shows UI through which user can access which ever reports he/she wants. I have kept some buttons on UI. When button is clicked appropriate report accessed and displayed on the browser.
Â
Problem is that, report width is about 40 - 50 % of the screen and report viewer shows the report on the left align of the screen. I just want to show the report at the center of the screen. Also, any property I can use to set the report size in the proportion of screen in Percentage(%).

I am having an issue with report printing. I have used a specific font (Garamond) for all the report elements when creating the report in Bus Int. Dev. Studio. While printing from the preview pane, the report prints with the Garamond font (as intended).
But the issue is that after deployment, printing the report (with browser print control) does not print it with the Garamond font (looks like it is using the Arial or a similar font). This changes the whole look and feel of the report. I have tried printing the report from the reportserver, report manager and through URL access. All the 3 methods are giving similar results that the print output is not using the on-screen font.
Anybody else face similar issues? Is there any workaround for this? TIA.

Hi,I've run into a curious problem with MS SQL Server 8.0. Using sp_help andSQL Query Analyzer's object browser to view the columns returned by a view,I find that sp_help is reporting stale information. In a recent schema change, for example, someone lengthened a varchar columnfrom 15 to 50 characters. If we use sp_help to find out about a view thatdepends upon this column, it still shows up as VARCHAR(15), whereas theobject browser correctly reports it as VARCHAR(50).Dropping and recreating the view fixes the problem, but we have quite a fewviews, and dropping and re-creating all of them any time a schema change ismade is something we want to avoid. I tried using DBCC CHECKDB in hopes thatit would 'refresh' SQL Server's information, but no luck.(if you're curious as to why I don't just use the object browser instead, read boring technical details below)Has anyone seen this before? Is there some other way (other thanre-creating every view) to tell SQL Server to "refresh" it's information?Thanks!-Scott----------------------Boring Technical Information:The reason this is an issue for us (i.e., I can't just use the objectbrowser instead) is that our object model classes are built using standardmetadata query methods in Java that seem to be returning the same staleinformation that sp_help is returning. These methods are a part of thestandard JDK, so we can't easily fiddle with them. Anyway, as a result, ourobject model (at least with respect to views) may not match our currentschema!

I know how to size my report to export successfully to A4 portrait PDF and I can position the report in the centre of the browser window BUT I can't do both! I would really like to be able to position it in the centre of my browser window AND be able to print to A4 portrait PDF. If I have the report in the centre (by adjusting the body to take up the whole screen and positioning the report in the centre), it is cut in half when exported to PDF. I can only get it to export to PDF correctly, if the report is aligned to the left of my screen in the browser. Is there a way to move the body to the centre or any other tricks?

Hi
I had sql server 2005 standard edition and express edition and sql 2000 desktop edition all installed on my xp notebook.
Whe i tried to create a maintenance plan in sql 2005 standard edition i got an error saying that it couldn't load something (which looked like it might be dll) so I tried to reinstall sql 2005 standard edition over the top to replace the dlls. However the install wizard told me that it can't do anything as all components are already installed!
So i decided to remove SQL 2005 and start again.
In add remove programs i removed various components (like vss writer, and one or two others) then when i clicked on SQL 2005 to remove it I got a message saying that it had already been removed and would i like to remove it from the add remove programs list.. so i said yes.
It actuallly appears that it is installed (after a fashion) although i can't connect to it anymore in ssms. If i put the cd in to try to reinstall it still tells me that it's already installed....i'm stuck now!
So.. i need to do something drastic to remove sql 2005 (as i can't remove it from the add remove programs and the CD won't let me reinstall over the top)
Can anyone help me with any suggestions to physicall remove it

I am trying to verify and create new user based on Billing Statement information. The user may not be the ID of the statement but has a
relationship to that ID.
Here is the data I will be passing:
Statement PrepDate
Statement PatBal
BillTo Address
BillTo Name
Patient DateofBirth
Patient Name
relevant table info:
BILTOS
BillToID, Name (user match), Address1(user match)
STMTHIST
BillToID, PrepDate (user match), PatBal (user match)
PATIENTS
BillToID, Name (user match), BirthDate (user match), Email, PatientsID
PATWEB
PatientID, UserName (user input), PIN (user input), Question (user input), Answer (user input)
I also check to make sure the username doesn't already exist in the PATWEB table
here is what I have so far that is not working (table reference not unique - BILTOS)
INSERT INTO PATWEB (PatientID, UserName, PIN, Question, Answer, LastAccess)
SELECT PATIENTS.PatientID, 'bcolladay@pdsmed.com', 'osx5ief7*', 'What', 'green', CurDate()
FROM PATIENTS, BILLTOS
JOIN PATIENTS BILLTOS ON PATIENTS.BillToID = BILLTOS.BillToID
WHERE not exists (select * from PATWEB Where PATWEB.PatientID = PATIENTS.PatientID)
AND PATIENTS.BirthDate = '1971-05-03'
AND PATIENTS.Name LIKE 'lui%'
AND STMTHIST.BillToID = PATIENTS.BillToID
AND STMTHIST.PatBal = '215.00'
AND STMTHIST.PrepDate = '2008-03-05'
AND BILLTOS.Address1 = '987 Worley St'
AND BILLTOS.Name LIKE 'Lui@'
so I am checking to see if the billing statement and other info they supplied matches before I create the account in PATWEB.
I appreciate any help, thanks

Say for example I have the following 2 database tables, the first one contains the old employee data, and has the fields shown below:
oldEmployeeID
FirstName
LastName
DateOfBirth
HiringDate
TerminationDate
and another one containing the new employee data with similar fields but instead of oldEmployeeID, it is showing the newEmployeeID.
During the conversion process, something were messed up and instead of putting in the original hiring date of the workers into the new employee database, the conversion date was put in, which, depending on the mood of HR ladies, could be any date, and at the same time, of course, new employee join the company, and we assume their hiring dates were entered correctly. On top of that, there are some employee who were terminated before the conversion took place but we still need to keep a record of that.
And I created a third table, say, emplyeeAll with similar fields to the employee data tables.
So here is what I need to do: if the firstName, lastName and DateOfBirth in the old employee data table and the new employee data table matches, I would assume they are the same employee, hence I would put the information for the employee obtained from the new employee data table to the employeeAll table, with the Hiring Date changed to the Hiring Date of the old employee data table (and do not copy the record from the old employee table to prevent duplicates), otherwise, I would simply copy and paste the data in new and old employee table to my employeeAll table.
I know this is really confusing, but...well...hope you know what I am saying...
Is it possible to have a SQL statement for all these? If so, how should the statement looks like?
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Anyi

Hi,
I've been asked to sort out a mess as follows:
two dbs on one server...
first db has a user called 'bob'.. that's the login on the server and also the login name on the db in question.
this db has several SP's owned by 'bob' which need to copied to the second db.
Here's where the problem starts.
Somehow, this second db has the standard users it needs, however the db User has a LoginName of 'bob'..
So basically if I try and create a user of 'bob' on the second server which will then allow me to copy these SP's across it says it already exists.. but if I just go ahead and try and copy the SP's it says the User does not exist.
Just to clarify what I mean..
I go into the 2nd db using EM.
go to users:
the visual that appears shows me several users in order with their
Name | Login Name | DB Access
the dbo user is set as:
dbo | bob | 2nd db
basically what I need (I think) is for that login Name to be removed from the dbo user and applied to specific user called bob...
how do I do that?
