SSRS To Set Display Properties At Internet Exporer Level
Feb 18, 2007
Hi All,
I have report which correctly outputs the PDF Export as well as when it displays it in the Reporting Services it is correct.
When it is deployed at the report server(IE) the view seems to differ a bit. As the report is a combination of Table adjacent to a matrix the IE view makes the Matrix move in the next line. Any thoughts on how can i control the display properties at the IE level only as the other views seems to be working fine.
I am using SQL 2000 SP4 and Report Server SP2 on W2k3 SP1 Server.
I am having trouble displaying the report pages if I am connected from the Internet.
I have no problem if I am connected in the office (Intranet).
The frame that is not show is underneath the New Subscription bar in my report page. I can see everything above (header pages etc) and Home page etc.
I think for some reasons the request frame URL page is still https://myserver/Repor... instead https://myserver.mycompany.com/Report...
Thank's for any help
gogu
PS: Also I am able to deploy only from the Intranet with Target Server URL https://myserver/ReportServer If I setup VS.NET deploy Target Server URL https://myserver.mycompany.com/ReportServer it comes up with "A connection could not be made ..." If I open the Browser from the Intranet I can see the reports pages even if with https://myserver.mycompany.com/Reports... but it ask me for Username / Password. How can I tell VS.NET when deploy to use username/password?
I installed SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition. When i create a new database (using the "New Database" dialog) i cannot set the new database's compatibility level to "SQL Server 2005(90)" because this option is not in the "dropdown list". the only items shown are: "SQL Server 7.0(70)" and "SQL Server 2000(80)". I set the owner to "sa". How do i get "SQL Server 2005(90)" in my "compatibility level" drop down list? Is this an installation option that i missed? Thanks in advance for any assistance!
but after the assignment the LocalConnectionString is different from ConnectionStringWithoutCredentials, there are much more ssce parameters.
What I don't understand is:
why I'm getting this error even after closing the connection ?
Since the error report [32] the ssce conflicting parameters shoud be AUTO_SHRINK_THRESHOLD, FLUSH_INTERVAL and MAX_DATABASE_SIZE
I tried to cut & paste the same values from LocalConnectionString into app.config connection string, at first It seemed to work, but now I got the same error.
I am having multiple URL in multiple zones for my site.I am not able to view SSRS reports on Internet which is in Internet zone where as i can view the same reports on Intranet site having URL in default zone. I m getting the following Error while accessing reports over internet:
" Unable to connect to the remote server. No connection to be made because target machine actively refused."
It would be great help if any one can solve this problem.
I have a very confusing problem that I'm going to attempt to relay concisely:
I have a LAN on which I'm running an Intranet web site built in ASP.Net 2.0 and using SSRS / Sql Server 2005 on the same server.
The name of the box is "warehouse" or "warehouse.mydomain.us." When I ping "warehouse," I get a response from 137.86.166.8, as I should. Likewise, I get a response from 137.86.166.8 when I ping "warehouse.mydomain.us." If I do a "ping -a" on 137.86.166.8, it correctly resolves to "warehouse.mydomain.us." Based on the facts presented in this paragraph, I believe that my DNS is working as expected.
Using IE (6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) with "low" security settings, I navigate to http://warehouse.mydomain.us/lex/ (Lex is the name of the app) and it authenticates me to the index page (which calls the SSRS web service to get and display a list of available reports), except that I get the login prompt three times. If I hit F5 (refresh), I get three more login prompts and then I get a 401.1 error. From this point, no matter what I do, I can not see the index page again without closing and restarting IE.
I know that IE only passes credentials to certain sites, so I add my domain (http://warehouse.mydomain.us/) to the Local Intranet list ( Tools->Internet Options->Security->Local Intranet->Advanced) and then I can refresh and see my index page once, but I still get 3 login attempts and then the same thing happens -- I refresh and go through 3 logins and then get a 401.1.
If I now change my address bar to read http://137.86.166.8/lex, I get a single login and it works like a champ. This makes me think that there's a DNS problem, so I open up Mozilla Firefox and wouldn't you know it -- Firefox works like a champ all around -- one single sign-in, it keep credentials between Lex and SSRS, and it appears to use the DNS correctly. However, I can't use Firefox because I can't get any of the SSRS reports to look like they're supposed to in Mozilla-based browsers.
Argh.
I have set my IE securtiy settings to "Low." I have added the primary domain to the Local Intranet list and also to the Trusted Sites list (but you can't do both at the same time). I have even added the internal IP to my "hosts" file.
Does anyone know anything that might be a help to me in getting this figured out?
Other notes of interest:
My machine is an XP machine, but is not on the domain, but I do have a valid domain login that I use and it works in Firefox without problem.
I am modifying a report that sets this variable at the beginning of every dataset:
declare @current_minute int set @current_minute = DATEPART(N, GETDATE()) % 3
My idea is to set this variable in the Report Properties instead. When I do set this variable it in a Text Box or a Dataset, I get errors such as:
The expression used for the calculated field '=Variables!report_var.Value' includes a variable reference. Variable values cannot be used in calculated field expressions.
The Variable(report_var) expression for the report ‘body’ contains an error: [BC30451] Name 'N' is not declared.
What other strategies can I use to set a variable globally, instead of at the beginning of each dataset?
has anyone out there found a way to get the best of both recursive hierarchy and drill down in the same report, ie without needing to know how many levels there are in your hierarchy, still being able to report them like a tree view with collapse and expand capability at each level?
Have installed SQL 2008 on Windows 2008 and have come across a strange issue.
When connecting to the Report Server cvia SSMS to enable "My Reports" (for example) the Report Server Properties are greyed out and we cannot alter them. This occurs when logged on both locally & remotely to the Win 2008 server.
Interestingly, we have another (XP Pro) box with SQL 2008 on it. If we connect to the Win 2008 SQL report server from the XP machine's SSMS, then we have full control and can access and change the report server properties on the Win 2008 server.
The relevant domain accounts are in the Admin group on the Win 2008 server and the XP Server so we are confused as to why we cannot edit the Win 2008 report server properties locally.
We have 1000s of SSRS reports hosted on the SQL 2008 R2. All reports are supposed to have all parameters "hidden". Random reports have been reported to expose the parameter when developers accidently deploy to test servers. Is there a way to identify the reports and the parameter property (Hidden, Visible, Internal) from the Report server Database?
I checked executionlog2 but can not find the parameter property.
I'm using a bullet chart in a SSRS report and I want to set the Maximum value in the Linear Scale properties to highest value of the following 4 fields. Is there any way to do this?? This will make all charts line up properly.
I work on test SSRS setup and trying to give one user enough rights so she can download RDLs from server, but no matter what I do on Folder leverl, on report level her security are still only as a <Browser>. Structure of our Server is:
Home/NewReports/Misc/Report01.
I'm checking those in <Folder Settings>/<Security> where this user is OK (Browser, Content Manager, Publisher, Report Builder).
So she looks OK in all folders Home/NewReports/Misc, but on report level she still only a browser.
Our db team tried everything on SSRS server working with Site settings and Folder option, how to make that report inherit security ?
I have a requirement where i am converting a Crystal report into SSRS.
My data contains different groups where some of the sections should be suppressed based on Drill down group level. In crystal they are using DrillDownGroupLevel <> 1 .
I am using VS 2010 and the SSRS that came with it. I am sure its SSRS 2008. Anyway, I added a report file to the project, added an ObjectDataSource and connected this to SQLServer 2008, and display the dataset on the report. The report is using ScriptManager, ReportViewer1, and Report1.rdlc file. I preview the dataset and I have multiple row returned. The problem is I only have one row displayed on the report. Maybe I did a quick and dirty report? What setting of properties did I missed?
I have reports in text files, with the formatting and alignments all intact, and need not to be changed anymore. But then, if I were to display these reports using IE, the best choice I have would be using SSRS. But then, is there such a feature in SSRS where I can do that? Just to display these reports as they are?
I thought the built in expression Level() would show me be drill down level. I can't see to get that to work. I'd like to determine my drill down level so I can hide columns based on that.
I have a dataset with weekly salary of multiple employees of same grade from different dpt. We are not going to show the report based on employ. The report will be showing data based on Employee grade and their department.
(Note when I say "rich" text I don't specifically mean rich text, I'm refering to text with user defined bold, italic, numbered lists, colors, fonts, etc.)
We have a (new) system where we want a user to enter "rich" text notes into a single column using an editor embedded in our application (much like the editor I'm using for this forum) and have the notes displayed correctly in SSRS reports. We were thinking of storing the notes as HTML but I've just tried it and the report displays the whole HTML string, rather than marking up the text.
We are open to marking up the text using any mechanism, rich text, HTML, Word, etc. just as long as we can see it in the reports.
We also need to consider viewing the same notes via Crystal reports.
I have created a new SSRS Server and done all of the basic security setup for the site but I am having trouble with client machine access...At first I had an issue with being able to access report manager from any client and ended up having to shut off windows authentication on the client IE settings to get it to work. Now I am trying to run Report Builder from a client machine and it will not download. The client machine is on the same domain and my user id is set as an administrator within SSRS and as a local admin on the 2008 server.
I had the thought that without windows auth in the browser maybe it can't permit me access to the application but if I turn it on I can't get to it to download it. I have set Full Control rights to the folder as well. Most of the info out there is for 2005 and that uses IIS to host the pages where as 2008 does not. Here is the details of the error:

In SSRS 2014 std (on a win 2012 server) the report controls display incorrectly in IE11. The save and several other features display on multiple lines instead of one line unless you are in capability mode. Also works fine on SSRS 2014 entr on win 2012 server.
Hi All, I have a sample data like this..I have added the cases for the particular worker in the table..My question is that when displaying the cases for the particular month...the date should not be displayed..instead of date 2008-04-30 I have to display...like April 2008...if the date is 2008-10-20...it should display as October 2008...can anyone please help me with this... 312 KRISTI WHITE 865400 2008-04-30 2 312 KRISTI WHITE 1000264311 2008-04-30 3 312 KRISTI WHITE 1000430815 2008-04-30 1 312 KRISTI WHITE 1000660614 2008-04-30 1 312 KRISTI WHITE 1002371318 2008-04-30 2 312 KRISTI WHITE 2003722520 2008-04-30 4
I have a requirement to display a disclaimer message before going to the content of a particular report. The workflow would be:
go to report folder e.g. Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx?ItemPath=%2fMyFolder%2fReports&ViewMode=ListClick on Report xDisplay DisclaimerPress 'ok' on disclaimerContinue to report
This is SSRS 2012 native.
I had contemplated injecting JavaScript into the report, but this appears virtually impossible to do i a simple manner.
I have a database field which consists of a long string of values with some separator.
Ex: Injection^!@$#Medication
in my report i have to split the string as
Injection Medication
till here i am able to display the results but in addition to that i have to display check box against these values like below
and this string can contain any no of values ex: if we have 4 values are separated within a string then i have to display 4 check boxes against 4 results.
I am displaying the red line in the beginning of the current week column in the matrix table. But for few resources the red line is missing. For Example in below screenshot, refer the 'Adrian Larkin' resource. Here is the SSRS report border expression which is comparing the [TimeByDay] with the current Week First Monday Date to display the red bar -
Here is the dataset result set. If you refer the column [TimeByDay], it has no record for the date 11/05/2015 for the Adrian resource as he has no assignment for the date 11-05-2015.display the red missing line red bar using the expression or any other solution.
Is it possible to display only the first few words of a block of text with a "Show More" link at the end, which when clicked would expand the block to show all content?
