Commit Transaction Gets Deleted - Unable To Save SP
Jan 24, 2006I've re-written a stored procedure and when I post the following codeinto the existing SP in EM, is saves OK. However, when I re-edit theSP, the last line 'Commit Transaction' has been removed.I cannot save the remainder of the SP as it throws error 208 (InvalidObject name #Max) about two of the temp tables I use when I post theentire script. It shows in a message box with the header : 'MicrosoftSQL-DMO(ODBC SQLState:42S02)I haven't posted the full SP nor the structure as it's quite large(2000 lines), so hopefully I have given enough detail, but my questionsare :Why does it now have problems with (temp) #Tables ? The use of thesehas not changed. Trying To Save Editted Textbox Value In Table But Original Value Saves Instead - Trouble With Table Update Query
Jan 9, 2008This program gets the values of A and B passed in. They are for table columns DXID and CODE. The textbox GET1 is initialized to B when the page is loaded. When I type another value in GET1 and try to save it, the original initialized value gets saved and not the new value I just typed in. A literal value, like "222" saves but the new GET1.TEXT doesn't.

Save Any File Into A Table
Feb 2, 2005I have a asp.net application where i can choose to save any file(could be jpg or dat or txt or xml etc etc) into a table.So far,i've manage to save it into an SQL server table in a column(set to Image datatype).But when i get the data from the table,put it into a byte array and recreate it.I notice that the files can be recreated correctly if they are of type .txt files.But jpg files can't be recreated and trying to open the jpg files gives an error.I don't think it is the file saving that is the problem since any files can be save.Rather it is the file recreating that is the problem.Can anyone help?

For example: I have a table, tblUsers, with coulmns, UserID, Name, Surname, etc...
In VWD I've created a GridView which shows everything on a webpage. I've also added a confirm return('Are you sure you want to delete the user?') option in OnClientClick field. What i want to achieve is, have some sort of log file, or log table if you want to call it that, of which users has been deleted by the end user. So, in later stages, i can see who deleted who, when, where, etc... - by building a report or view.
All this should go to a seperate database or seperate table, it doesnt really matter.

May 21, 2005I try to insert VB.NET boolean true values into a SQL2000 table thru a stored procedure. While varchar fields of the table are correctly filled, I'm surprised to find the bit fields all stay 0 after every single insert. Save OLAP Query Results To Relational Table
Nov 15, 2007I have cubes that hold quite a few calculations and so creating Excel pivot table views from it take a long time. This is even true for Excel 2007.
Now I wonder if it would be possible to write back all the calculation results to a relational table - maybe one that exactly matches the report format - so creating another report would be much faster?
SSRS seems to be a way to go but it does not speed up my Excel case.
I read about write-back in ROLAP and MOLAP but I don't think any of these concepts help me to really speed up my reports.
The closest thing I was able to find so far, which besides seems to do exactly what I want is Microsoft's new PerformancePoint 2007. It's just it seems overkill for my projects and the price is at $20K.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Programatically Query Database And Save Report In An Excel Table

I am working on constructing a software layer around some features of the RDL language that would allow me to programatically generate reports.
I am reading the RDL specification language, and I do not understand three things:
1) How the DataSet element is populated by the query or more precisely how do the <Field> elements capture all the rows inside the table that is being queries?
To my understanding I wilkl have to define several fields that correspond to all columns of interest in the query.
But that is only for one row (?!) How do the rest of the rows get populated? Does the server recursively create new rows based on my definitions until it matches row for row all the data in the table?
2) Once the elements are inside a DataSet how do make use of that data to render it in a table.
I understand how the DataSource, DataSet, and Table work individually, yet I do not understand how to establish a flow of data between DataSet and Table.
3) Do I even need to use a <Table> as an RDL element in order to organize the data in an excel table?
I would appreciate any help. Thank you!

It would be great to be able to save the tables, locations and sizing so that these can be recalled and opened automatically. Currently I do a screen capture, which is pretty lame.

Except that now I am trying to connect and update to an Microsoft SQL Server Database File (SqlClient) via VB 2008 Express; specifically a table called €œHexMap€? that contains some columns that I am ready to insert some row data into. Here is what my program should do:
As I hover over a hexagon map of the US a red flickering hexagon follows the location of my mouse cursor. If I click on a given hexagon, the program draws a permanent blue hexagon, and sends a new set of row data into my database. Such information as the name of the state, row, column, center x, and center y, etc. Here is a quick snapshot of this program in action:

I think I am missing something since I appear to be able to connect successfully to the database table. Unfortunately, I never see the changes in the database, when I try to Show Table Data (via Database Explorer). I am hoping someone will review my code snippet (below) and tell me what I am missing. Insert / Update In Master Table And Also Save A History Of Changed Records : Using Data Flow/simple Sql Queries

My scenario:
I have a master securities table which has 7 fields. As a part of the daily process I am uploading flat files into database tables. The flat files contains the master(static) security data as well as the analytics(transaction) data. I need to
1) separate the master (static) data from the flat files,
2) check whether that data is present in the master table, if not then insert that data into the master table
3) If data present then move that existing record to an history table and then update the main master table.
All the 7 fields need to be checked to uniquely identify a single record in the master table.
How can this be done? Whether we can us a combination of data flow items or write a sql procedure to do all this.

Sep 20, 2006I am working on a program in VB 2005 in which i want to store and retrieve GPS coordinates. I am not sure which data type is the best to use to enter Latitude & Longitude numbers and maintain their proper integrity.
Like LAT ( N38 28.025' ) and LONG (W105 52.098' )
The numbers will be entered by the user and that format can be maintained, but how to re-enter & or insert them into the database using the same format is my real question.
I hope I have explained this right. The numbers in BOLD are what I need to maintain.
