The following error message is displayed when trying to modify a stored procedure.
This version of Microsoft Access doesn't support design changes to the version of Microsoft SQL Server your project is connected to. See the Microsoft Office Update Web site for the latest information and downloads (on the Help menu, click Office on the Web). Your design changes will not be saved.
However, if you save, close and re-open the stored procedure having made the required changes, the changes have been saved.
Is there any way to suppress the error message / hotfix available from microsoft since the error message appears to be completely erroneous ?
Have I provided enough detail as this is my first post ?

We migrated a MS Access 2003 mdb into MS Access 2007. The mdb has linked tables to SQL Server via a DSN and utilizes a mdw file. In 2003, the username/password is "passed" to SQL Server, so the UID/PWD that is used for opening the mdb, is used in SQL Server.
Opening the same file in 2007 using the same mdw, gives a secondary login on SQL Server.
Is there a way to have MS Access 2007 pass the UID/PWD to SQL Server on linked tables, the same way that 2003 does?
I am trying to connect through ODBC connectivity, but it will not allow me to do so. I have investigated this matter. It leads me back to the server, because as I was configuring my client side database. It kept asking for the DSN(datasource name), but I was unable to choose one because there wasn't one to choose. Which is my current dilemma, How can I do this and have it available to choose from the server to satisfy the Access database?
I went to the domain where the software resides but I don't know what steps to take? I also found an interesting piece on microsoft about Kerberos, but I can't follow along according to the instructions it has. I have Access 2003 & SQL SERVER 2005, HELP...!
Basically, this is right off the heels of the install. I setup the server without the connectivity, but it is running the current configuration.
I developed a database with Access 2003 and everything was working good until my tech came in and reformated my hard drive and install a new Ghost image that met our company standards.
Now I cannot go in and make any changes to any of the tables, queries and forms. All of this started when a new Ghost image was installed on my pc.
The message I get when I try to open my database is "You do not have permission to run "tblSwitchboard." I get the same error message when I try to do anything at all on the database.
Hi MS NewsgroupI am using SQL 2000 SP3 + latest hot fixes and I am editing a DTSpackage. When I save the package I get a SQL Server Access Violationand cannot save the package. This does not crash SQL nor EnterpriseManager but no matter what I do I cannot save the package. This occursfor only 1 package on the server (others are ok) and for all users ofany privilaged access level. I have tried to save to file, VB, etc butall fail similarly.I have read MS KB and have tried all options they suggest but to noavail! I'd like not to have to rewrite the DTS again from scratch.Ideas anyone? Thanks
Running SQL 2005 on a dedicated Dual Xeon 8MB RAM AND 6x 160GB HDDS RAID-5. Front end App Access 2002. I have to main concerns. 1. When users are enter data and saving all of a sudden all users get stuck upon saving and requires to reboot the server to operate again. Th eproblem is that this happens 3 to 5 times a day. Also searching records with one word takes very long time sometimes even minutes, but queries having two or more words come up fast. Also single word queries come up with erratic results, sometimes 200 titles and than a second search comes up with 31,000. *** Can anyone come up with any ideas "off the cuff" on how I canstart to resolve these issues. Can these issues be related?
I'm creating a website in asp.net, the main point will be to upload/download and watch video's/pictures and voice notes. I was going to go about on saving them to sql, but when I started researching I found that it is not a good idea to use sql for videos? Majority that I found said that it is more suitable with saving them to a file, but the problem is that there can be thousands of video's,please explain the difference of sql and file saving to me?how to do it as I have never worked with videos before so no idea how to begin saving and on..
I am storing my Compact Database .sdf file in Team Foundation Server while we develop on it. It is really frustrating that it is stored as a binary file. (This means that only one developer at a time can effectively work on it.)
I have yet to find a way to script objects from the .sdf file. Is there a way? I would like to find a way to store this file as SQL so that my team can work on it simultaneously and scripting it and storing it seems the best way.
If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.
I am pretty mcuh new to sql and I read all your previous replies..I jsut have my questions answered. If you can help me that would be great!

Hi, I'm a first time user at reporting services and in dire need of some help, I'm having a real hard time finding the information I need.
I have made two reports in Business Intelligence Development Studio that access a sql database and I can deploy them and see them at http://localhost/reports etc.
What I wan't to do is be able to "trigger" the reports to be built from a schedule (e.g. every 8 hour on weekdays, every 12 hours on weekends but should be able to be changed) and after built to be saved to a html file.
I also need to set the sql query for the dataset before generating the report (select * from table where DateTimeType between This and That).
Anyway, I'm completely lost on how to achive this and would greatly appreciate and tips or pointers to where the information can be found.
Can u help me out in the following two scenario/problems.
1. I want to save the query results (which is generated within execute sql task) to file (which does not exists & should be created at run time). is it possible?
2. Can I define the file name, in Flat File connection Manager, dynamically (by using some variable)?
Hello all, i hope someone that understands SQL can help me.
I have a report that runs from a access query, which is simple. My problem is that i get an overflow error becuase one of the queries formulas are to divide some numbers and in this one instance there is a "0" involved.
My formula is: Col2%: [Col 2 Hrs]/([TotHrs]-[Col 6 Hrs])
The problem is that [Col 2 Hrs]=0 this month for a specific employee.
In excel i know i can do =IF([Col 2 Hrs]=0,"0",([Col 2 Hrs]/([TotHrs]-[Col 6 Hrs]))) and that works fine.
Can someone please show me how to do this in SQL so instead of returning an error it will display 0 or N/A.
Thanks inadvance
Hope i explained my issed well enough for everyone.
I'm very new to MS SQL Server; I just downloaded Express 2005 yesterday. I have it up and running; it seems to be working fine.
Now onto business - I need to migrate data from existing MS Access 2003. How, exactly, do I do this? I've tried searching MSDN, TechNet, and here, and while I get results that seem to tell part of the story, I don't seem to get a true "How to" for this task.
I am upsizing an Access 2003 database to SQL 2005 (SP2) I frequently use the criteria forms![formname].[fieldname] in Access queries to open reports or forms in Access but cannot find an SQL equivalent. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
Is there a way to integrate Access 2003 as the Front End for SQL Express?
I tried, but I can't make a new Access project because I need to specify a login/pass and I have no idea what those are set to, or if I need to make an account somehow.
As you can see, I am totally new to SQL and any help would be appreciated.
hi I have binary files inside my database. and user should have the opportunity to download them from database to his computer. I don't want to retrive and save the file into the server first and then let him to download. is it posible??? thank you in advance regards
hello,I am building a web page in asp.net 2.0 and i'm looking for a way to save various files uploaded by users (such as doc, pdf, cs, txt .... whatever). Obviously the normal way would be to store it on the filesystem of the web server (or any other middleware server). But I am asking if there is a way to store these files in the database, and not affect too much of the performance of the web page?I know a picture can be stored easily, but what about all the other file types? I would appreciate if someone can spead light of the subject.Thanks,Tranquil.
so i wrote this script and its pretty sweet (tara helped me before on this one) but now, for some STRANGE reason and its been reported by users the following:
the script for example dumps "first name, last name"
when we save the results as a CSV it looks good in notepad...
"first name, last name"
but we kept getting some kind of stange issues when we tried to dump that CSV data into another program to use... so i opened the CSV file in command prompt to see what it really looks like and it is actually "f i r s t n a m e , l a s t n a m e" with all these unnecessary spaces! why is it saving the CSV with spaces in it when my script is nothing of the sort? it was working fine last week, no changes were made to the script but now the CSV's are rendering those weird spaces.
I am brand new to SQL. Have limited coding experience w/ Visual Basic and database ops w/ Access.
I have come into possession of a SQL 2005 database. The problem is that the designer tried to re-invent the wheel and code a very very poor LMS back end for tracking and reporting. I would like, if possible, to save the database and as far as I am aware - should be able to import into Access and generate statistics and reports to my hearts content.
I have tried w/out success to save the database going through SQL Server Management Studio Express.
Any help or information that could be provided would be appreciated. Any additional information that I can provide, please let me know.
Hi Report created in VS has some data in the page header, but when report is saved to pdf file that data disappears in page header. The data in page header that disappear are the ReportItems taken from detail line of a table in the report body. This problem started as a result of converting existing report from sql server/VS 2003 to qsl server/VS 2005. Before conversion, report saved to Adobe pdf file showed all data. What could be the problem? Thank you Appreciate your help
We use SQL Server 2000 on the back-end of our directory web site and ASP on the front end which works fine. However, for my own uses (since I don't create the asp and have to pay a programmer), would it be better to set up an Access 2003 project for my own data entry forms, standard reports and quick searching?
What would be the negatives of this approach. Remember, this is just for me.
I have SQL Server 2005 Express running and I am creating a database through access (Access 2003 SP2) and no problem it creates the database...
But when I try to create other objects like views and database diagrams, I get the message below which is quite detailed but I just don't know where to get the service packs or updates needed to have this problem solved. Can anyone point out what the problem and the fixes are?
Here is the message that I get:
"This version of MS Office Access doesn't support design changes with the version of MS SQL Server your access project is connected to. See MS Office Update Website for the latest information and downloads (on the Help menu, click Office on the Web). YOur design changes will not be saved.
You have connected to a version of SQL server later than SQL Server 2000. This version of Visual Studio or Access that you are using was released before teh version of SQL Server to which you are connected. For this reason you might encounter problems.
Please check with MS to see if there is a service pack that you should apply to Visual Studio or Office in order to get support for the version of SQL Server to which you are connected.
You can continue but any new object types might not be enumerated, and it will not be possible to save any objects or database diagrams thatyou create using the Visual Database Tools."
