Saving Or Copying Enterprise Manager Files

Dec 11, 2000

hello all,

Does anyone know know which files Enterprise Manager uses to save the settings (i.e. registered computers and groups)?

I would like to reinstall enterprise manager, but I do not want to reconfigure all of the server registrations.

Thanks,

Matt

Saving Scripted Output From Enterprise Manager

Aug 14, 2002

Does anyone know where to declare the target directory for scripted output from Enterprise Manager?

Every time I get EM to script Tables I want the output not to go to c:mssql7inn . . but somewhere else. Trouble is I can't find where to set this variable. It won't work in a shortcut - I've tried that, and I can't find an ini file either.

Seems like a simple problem to fix if you just know where to look !

Problems Running Enterprise Manager And Service Manager

Jul 20, 2005

On one of our machines, all of the SQL Server 2000components except for the main Server component (SQL Servercore) itself were installed (Management tools, etc) a while agoand everything was running fine. Now I go and add/install theServer component and then Service Pack 3a.It seems that Service Manager won't start up (I get an hourglass cursor)and now I find that Enterprise Manager won't run as well. No errormessages appeared and I don't think I saw anything unusual inthe log file. However, I can use Enterprise Manager on a differentmachine and connect to the database (so the databaseitself seems to be running).Any suggestions as to what the problem might be and how tofix it? I like to see if I can repair this without havingto do a reinstall.Thanks.PF

Saving Passwords In Windows Synchronization Manager

Sep 22, 2006

I am using Windows Synchronization Manager to sync up a web based Merge Replication. Is there anyway to get Windows Synchronization Manager to save the passwords for the distributor, publisher, and the basic auth for the web server? I know the easy way would be to use windows auth by that is not an option in my scenario.

It is a pain to have to type them in everytime I want to sync my databases...

Reporting Services :: 2014 Enterprise - Multiple Tabs When Saving To Excel?

Oct 28, 2015

We are running 2014 enterprise.  Our users love to see related report sections saved in separate tabs of the same spreadsheet.  Is there a way to control how ssrs will save a report to excel when it comes  to tabs?

Are subreports a/the way (and only way) to do this?

By sections I mean they might have a grid, then another grid, then a graph then another graph and so on.

What property controls the tab name?  What if they want to combine 2 or more sections into one tab?

Saving Files In SQL Server

Jun 27, 2004

Hello there,

I was thinking about saving some files in a SQL Server DB and then reading those back to the client for download. Any warnings that I should know about before doing so? The files will generally be at most 2mb in probably .pdf format. I've heard bad things about doing this in Access...but then again, SQL Server isn't access.

Integration Services :: Saving Connection Manager Password Permanently

May 13, 2015

User A creates the SSIS Package and provides the password for the connection manager for a task (for OLE DB source) with SQL authentication.

When User B tries to run the SSIS package, the error is thrown as : The package may be damaged.

On typing the password again inside the connection manager, the execution occurs successfully. Is there any workaround to save the password permamanently for the connection manager rather than each user entering it in order to run the package ?

Flat File Connection Manager Editor Update Not Saving?

Apr 10, 2008

Hello everyone

I'm very new to SSIS and seemed to have stumbled into an expected problem. I'm working on a package that was converted from a DTS package and I have a problem with the Flat File Connection manager. I want to change the file name in my connection, but I do not seem to be able to save the change. After clicking "OK" to save the name change I can then save the package, close BIDS, open everything up again and for some reason the "old" filename is still present in the connection. Note that the "new" file has exactly the same layout as the "old" file, just a different name. And I can oreview the data without any difficulty.

Any ideas on this one...?

Thanks, John

Saving Files To SQL Server 2000

Feb 27, 2004

Someone:
I have the need to upload a file via a webpage and then save that file into the database. I would also like to retrieve it and show it to the user.

Can someone show me an example of how this should be done. Also I am concerned of the pros and cons of saving files in the database. Is there a performance hit on the server? Will it make the database unstable? Has anyone had problems doing this?

Any suggestions, samples, and/or help are welcome.

Copying DAT Files In 6.5

Mar 30, 2000

I have an 8 GB SQL 6.5 database that I need to move to another server. I know I can create the devices and the database on the new server exactly as they were created on the old server then replace the new DAT files with the old (after shuting down SQL Server). The issue I am running into is that the sort order and character sets on the two servers are different. Will this have an effect if I copy the DAT files? Am I better off using BCP? I'd hate to use BCP because of the time that it will take to move the files.

Thanks for you help

Saving Files (Binaries) Into Database - Pros And Cons

Jun 19, 2008

Can someone provide information or a link to information regarding the pros and cons of saving files directly into a SQL 2005 database?
I'm actually for saving files to a database (cleaner implementation then just saving the location then having to get the file, etc), but my project manager is not convinced so I need to make an argument for (or against depending on what I actually find out) using varbinary data type.
Thanks.

Automating Report Execution - Saving To Separate Files

Sep 20, 2007

I'm trying to do something which I hope can be accomplished relatively simply.

I have a report similar to bank statements let's say. When run, it currently prints out each person's statement into one file, with page breaks sepearating each person's statement. What I need to do, is when the report is run, save each person's report into a seperate file for the purpose of emailing to them later.

I could easily modify my report to just output for one particular person, but I'm not sure if there's a way to "bulk render" all the reports and have them saved to sepearate files.

I should also add that I'm using an MS Access Data Project (ADP) as the front end to my app - connected to a SQL Server 2005 DB. I currently display the reports by embedding a web browser object into an Access form and rendering the report via HTML.

Thanks in advance,

H

Copying Backup Files To Different Locations

Oct 25, 2007

I have a maintenace plan that copies production backup files in DR server. The production is mission critical and runs 24/7. We have a round the clock backups. Backups include full backup, differential backups and log backups.

To secure these backup files, I was asked to keep these files in different server at the same time as it goes to DR Server. As I am using maintenace plan for scheduled backups that go to DR server and I had no idea how to incorparate copying these files to another server in the same maintenence plan. I came up with idea using xp_cmdshell stored proc that I attached on the maintenace plan in executeT-SQL statement task. The statement looks like

Exec master..xp_cmdshell 'copy e:DRbackup*.bak \fgh-sql16ackup$'

Above statement copy all backup files on DR server and takes these to remote server called fgh-sql16.

My question here is ....are there any other effective methods to copy backup files simultaneously to different servers via maintenace plan.

Thanks all

SQL 7 Enterprise Manager

Jul 28, 2000

I am considering upsizing my Access 2000 DB to a SQL 7 server. I was told that having SQL 7 Enterprise Manager is highly prefferd but not essential as I can maintain the upsized DB with Access 2000. The only way that I have been able to find JUST enterprise manager seems to be with purchasing the whole SQL 7 program for $1300! Microsoft cannot be that cruel, that you have to buy the whole program just for Enterprise Manager!

My questions are:

Can I download just MS SQL 7 Enterprise Manager anywhere for a reasonable fee or free?

and

if not, can I continue to use Access 2000 to maintain the SQL 7 upsized DB?
