After adding Service Reference to WebService, the Script Component has Binary Code not found, red circle not showing these are the steps I followed:
1) Add Script Component as Source
2) Add 3 x Output Columns Col1,2 and 3
3) Add HTTP Connection URL>..Binary Code not found, red circle showing
4) Add test code to Sub CreateNewOutputRows Dim i As Integer = 6 Binary Code not found, red circle not showing
5)Â Add Service Reference URL...Binary Code not found, red circle showing again
Should just adding Service Reference cause Binary Code not found, red circle to appear. I have to set precompilescripttobinary option , however cannot see this option in 2012

No idea where this bug crept in from. Have been using SSIS for 1.5 years now without hitting this problem.
I had a script component opening an XML document and parsing it using XPATH. I added some code that uses StreamReader / Streamwriter (closing one stream before starting the other). The code works without issue in my C# app.
And it ran without issue 2-3 times in SSIS. Then suddenly after running my package again, the script component says it completes successfully, yet nothing happens. I set a breakpoint on the first line of code - it never hits it. I add a msgbox as the first line of code - and it never displays.
I then close my package / exit out of ssis ... and then re-open it. When i open my script component, all of my code is GONE. All references that I added are gone.
I tried adding the streamreader/writer process to a dll I created from my c# app ... and added the DLL to the package -- same result.
I can reproduce this on 2 different computers.
Anyone experience this problem ? Any idea how to stop it ? Or debug it ?
Here is a slimmed down code sample of what causes the error :
Public Class ScriptMain
Public Sub Main()
Try
Dim xmlDoc As New XmlDocument
xmlDoc.Load("c:ulkasync_86281519_20070628045850225_4.xml")
MsgBox("xmlLoaded") --this doesn't display once the package starts "acting up"
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.Message)
UpdateXML("c:ulkasync_86281519_20070628045850225_4.xml", ex.Message)
End Try
Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success
End Sub
Private Sub UpdateXML(ByVal fileName As String, ByVal message As String)
Try
Dim invalidChar As String = message.Trim().Substring(message.Trim().IndexOf("0x"), 4)
Dim rd As StreamReader = New StreamReader(fileName)
Dim xml As String = rd.ReadToEnd()
Xml = Xml.Replace(invalidChar, String.Empty)
xml = xml.Replace("", String.Empty)
xml = xml.Replace("<![CDATA[<![CDATA[", "<![CDATA[")
xml = xml.Replace("]]>]]>", "]]>")
MsgBox("replaced")
rd.Close()
Dim wr As StreamWriter = New StreamWriter(fileName)
wr.Write(xml)
wr.Close()
Dim xdoc As XmlDocument = New XmlDocument()
xdoc.Load(fileName)
Catch ex As Exception
UpdateXML(fileName, ex.Message)
End Try
End Sub
End Class

First of all let me say that ASP.NET a new programming environment for me so please forgive my ignorance.
Can someone please tell me how to write data to a SQL table that is a Binary data type? I have a stored procedure on the SQL server that I am calling to insert data into a table. I build a parameter list and set the values. It worked just fine before I added a binary field to the SQL table. My problem is that I don't know how to set the Binay data type to pass it to the stored procedure. Here is part of the code:
GetCMD = Myconnection.CreateCommand
GetCMD.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
GetCMD.CommandText = "SCHEMANAME.InsertLineItem"
GetCMD.Parameters.Add("HEADER_ID", SqlDbType.VarChar, 150)
GetCMD.Parameters("HEADER_ID").Value = "some value"
GetCMD.Parameters.Add("@OPTIONS", SqlDbType.Binary)
GetCMD.Parameters("@OPTIONS").Value = HOW DO I SET THIS VALUE????
rowsaffected = GetCMD.ExecuteNonQuery()
I assume serialization but have not figured out how. Anyone's help is greatly appreciated!!

I am trying to backup and restore a 20GB SQL database from a SQL Server 2012 to another SQL Server 2014, but I have come across the following issues:
1) The developers [against best practice] have stored multiple images in fields within the database as binary code.
This therefore exceeds the 65532 character limit in some fields, so even though the images do show [based upon the data saved within this field], I cannot find the data in the field beyond this 65532 limit, within SQL Server.
How can I export / locate this data after the 65532 character limit?
2) When I have attempted to restore the database I am getting this error message:
Restore of database 'zapkam' failed. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.RelationalEngineTa sks)
Additional information:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: RESTORE detected an error on page (1:1592996) in database "zapkam" as read from the backup set. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)
I have managed to restore two other smaller databases using the same technique, but am wondering if it's an issue with the database itself.
3) I have uploaded this database to the new server using FileZilla FTP Client, but it has cut out, painfully at 80% + 90% on a couple of occasions.
Is there a better solution for uploading these big files that I could possibly use? For example, uploading table by table or similar...

exporting an SSIS from a 2008 R2 SQL Server and re-import it into a SQL 2012.
I have inherited an SQL 2008 R2 Server running two SSIS packages. I have both as .dtsx files and & a manifest to install.The task at hand is now to migrate those to a new SQL 2012 server.[There is also an IIS running on that machine and project-specific .dll and stuff within the IIS document root. I do not know if these .dlls relate to the IIS web page or to the SQL .dtsx) But the migrated web site runs fine].
Installation of the packages into the MSDB works out flawlessly and one of the scripts runs fine, but the other fails to run with the error:
"Error: the binary code for the script is not found. Please open the script in the designer by clicking Edit Script button and make sure it builds successfully."
Google tell me something about a "Pre-compile option"-setting on server as explained here. I can not find this option setting anywhere in SSMS. Also as the migration is from 2008 R2 -> 2012 this should not be relevant as in both versions pre-compilation should be automatic, right?
- I installed visual studio 2013 community
- I installed SSDTBI
- Start the "Integration Services Import Project Wizard"
to import the SSIS directly from the "Integration Services Catalog"
However, things don't quite work very well - Trying to import (from the locally installed SQL instance) it will not display the tree of SSIS stuff, but only the root directory.
So importing directly from the running system won't work. Let's see if we can get somewhere with the .dtsx As I _do_ actually have the .dtsx files here, why not open them up directly in Visual studio and try to get compiled whatever needs to be compiled.I create a new "integration Services" Project and open up the .dtsx into this project. ==> LOTS of errors of all kind.
(The job of this script is to fetch messages from an Exchange.)But opening up this specific bit of code doesn't work a bit - there is no binary code in it and how to reate it or where to get it from...

Greetings,
I have been developing VBA apps in Access and Excel for sometime and am fairly proficient in VBA. Now we are moving all of our data to SQL Server 2005. I am in need of learning how to write code for the Script Component of a data flow task. And so I have a couple of questions.
First, are there any books you recommend for learning ???? (I'm not even sure what I need to learn: .NET? ADO.NET?)
And as a follow-up, any good websites that provide good reference documentation?
And my second question is more specific to my current problem. If I had a bit of code to get me started, I'm sure I could scream all the way to the bottom of the hill.
Data source is coming from a sort task where the data is sorted by STATUS and then MOD_DATE and the AUDIT_ID.
I need to read each row and compare it to the next row. If STATUS is the same, discard the second row.
When STATUS is different, send the first row to the output (to be used by the next task in the data flow).
Using the "different" row from step 3, go to step 2.
I know how to write if statements, case statements, for/next statements. I'm just not understanding how to read the rows in and then send them back out. I've been searching for some sample code but everything I find tends to be solving much bigger issues.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
Rob

I have SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition. I have a script component in one dataflow which I have added code to today. I saved using the save Icon and exited. I noticed a warning on the item, so I went back into the script and my changes had gone. I though I could not of saved the code and retyped, saving every 5 minutes. I closed visual studio, and noticed the script component had the warning on again! I went back to the code and all my changes were gone. I did not see any errors or warnings in Visual Studio. What am I missing, retyping code becomes tedious!

After much work and thanks to all of you who helped on this here is a code sample that can be adapted. From the dataflow task add an OLEDB source component, a row count component and finally a Script Destination Component.
On the Script Destination Component rename the Input node of the imports and outputs tree view to "ParsedInput"
The readonly User: variables that start with gs can be read in the PreExecute method
The readwrite User: variable giSuccessCount can only be used in the post execute task because it is populated by the Row Count Component which is the previous object in the Dataflow
The xml code is adapted from an idea in Donald Farmers book

Hi,
I have created a Integration Services package that takes a table in a database, and transfers it to a flat file. This package has successfully run through visual studio 2005 as a .dtsx package, and given the output that I expected.
However, now, I am trying to excecute the package (as xml) using C#, and I am receving this error:
Error in Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.TaskHost/DTS.Pipeline : The product level is insufficient for component "Flat File Destination" (31).
I do not understand how a working package would have this kind of error.
Considering that it runs when I do not use C# code to execute the package means that I have SSIS properly installed, and I have the proper versions (or it should not execute ever). I have SP1 for both SQL Server 2005, and Visual Studio 2005 installed.
Other packages that I have created using C# code also have the same problem.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have a script task that I've created that just displays a MsgBox as listed in Professional SQL Server 2005 Integration Services in chapter 4. The problem is that when I exit the VSA design tool there is a red "X" on the task that says in a popup:
"The task is configured to pre-compile the script, but binary code is not found. Please visit the IDE..."
I go back into the script design, and the code is there, and the PreCompile propterty IS set to True. Attempting to EXECUTE the task only results in a similar error, just more verbose without actually giving any additional insight.
I've read the thread on where the VSA code is deleted on closing.. but my code is still there.. it just isn't seeing the binary code (if it actually exists).
Ideas, comments or snide remarks anyone?

We have a sql job type SSIS package that is not populating a database table as expected and I'm trying to figure what why not but I'm not sure where the "code" is. The person that created it said they copied a legacy package (sql 2000) and made modifications to it, then migrated it to the new version. When a legacy package is migrated is there a SSIS solution built? I see you can edit SSIS packages only in BI Development Studio but I'm not sure where to find package.
This post may answer my question but if you have any additional or updated information I'd like to hear it.
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=393634&SiteID=1
So, to view or edit the package you have to export it?
Package location
Select the type of storage location to export the package to. The following options are available:
SQL Server
File System
SSIS Package Storage
So do you pick "File System" in order to view it in BI?
Thanks for your help.

aaa 001 <some binary value>
aaa 002 <some binary value>
aaa 003 <some binary value>

I'm using a bit-wise comparison to effectively store multiple values in one column. Is there a better way to store the binary data rather than int or binary?

The file name would for example abc_defYYYYMMDD.xls.
would i be able to find the latest file in the folder using the the datestamp (YYYYMMDD) in the filename.
Please note i would have files in other format and names with datestamp attached to it, so the code has to pick specific file for which the file name starts with 'abc_def'
and export data to a table.
Any help would be highly appreciated

This error occurs when the ActiveX task tries to execute:
[ActiveX Script Task] Error: Retrieving the file name for a component failed with error code 0x001B6438.
Anybody know how to troubleshoot these errors? I can't find anything on this error code. The same script works in DTS.

I have mysql type db in which I need computer to search for a key phrase of text that has several hundred occurances inside product table descriptions of products on live site. Once it finds the text, I would like for it to simply remove it, and look for the next occurance of the phrase and repeat the process until all are flagged and removed. I was told their may be a line of sql code that employs such a feature. Can anyone tell me what such a line would be?
