Search For A Specific Date When Specified As String?
May 18, 2007
Dear all
I am pretty new to SQL server 2005 and have the following issue:
I get the date from the asp applciation in format dd/mm/yyyy and then try to do a search for all records that might match that date in sql server 2005. The date is storred in ther database in datetime format.
I am having trouble composing the stored procedure to do that.
Hi All,I'm familiar with the syntax that looks like this:SELECT * FROM Users WHERE Email LIKE '%aol%'Which would return all users that whose Email column contains "aol".However, if I wanted to do that sort of a search using a prepared statement, how would I do it?I can't simply doSELECT * FROM Users WHERE Email LIKE '%@MatchAgainst%'Can somebody clue me in?
SQL 2000.I need a query that will search a field in the table that is 14characters long and begins with a number.I have a client that was allowing people to store credit card numbers, plain text, in an application. I need to rip through the table andreplace every instance of credit card numbers with "x" and the last 4digits. I got the replace bit going, but I am stuck on how to searchfor a string in a field of a specific length.Any ideas?Thanks,--Mike
Hi all, We have a table that is full text enabled and it is working fine, but the full text search doesn't returns any record for the following case
select * from let_catalog_search where contains(search_field,'"Bulk Process 1*"') even though there exist records that satisfy the condition in the table, the record that i am talking abt is "bulk process 1 with price bp100-ilt1-00200136 bp100-ilt1"
If I remove the last 1 from the search string i get lot of records, Can anybody help me out.
i am trying to search an SQL database to retrieve all names from employee table who have a birthday today. this needs to automatically fill in the date parameter with the system date. this is what i have so far:
sub page_load(sender as object, e as eventargs) dtmDate=DateTime.Now.ToString("M") con = New SqlConnection("Server=Localhost;UID=******;PWD=*****;Database=Pubs")
cmd = New SqlCommand("Select fname, lname From Employee where dob='& dtmDate'", con)
I know this isnt quite right. i get errors when it hits my repeater.
the error i am getting is :Syntax error converting string to smalldatetime data type. if someone could give me a push in the right direction here it would be greatly appreciated.
I have a scenario where in I need to use a comma delimited string as input. And search the tables with each and every string in the comma delimited string.
This will work on SQL Server 2005 and later. Since the code is building an XML string, keywords overlapping the magic 4000 character limit are fetched!SELECTp.RoutineName, 'EXEC sp_helptext ' + QUOTENAME(p.RoutineName) AS [Exec] FROM( SELECTOBJECT_NAME(so.ID) AS RoutineName, (SELECT TOP 100 PERCENT '' + sc.TEXT FROM SYSCOMMENTS AS sc WHERE sc.ID = so.ID ORDER BY sc.COLID FOR XML PATH('')) AS Body FROMSYSOBJECTS AS so WHEREso.TYPE IN ('C', 'D', 'FN', 'IF', 'P', 'R', 'RF', 'TF', 'TR', 'V', 'X') ) AS p WHEREp.Body LIKE '%YourKeyWordHere%'E 12°55'05.25" N 56°04'39.16"
I've a table that stores operationcode for each jobnumber. The jobnumber can have multiple operationcode. From the below DDL, I need to show all the jobs that have operation codes as 2001 and 2002. In the below DDL Jobnumber 80011 has both the operation codes 2001 and 2002 so this job will display on the report.
On the other hand Job 80021 only has operationcode 2001 and I do not want this job to show up on the report.
I need to show all the operationcodes for a job if it has operationcode 2001 and 2002.
USE tempdb; GO DECLARE @TEST_DATA TABLE ( DT_ID INT IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED , OperationCodeVARCHAR(10) NOT NULL , EmployeeCode VARCHAR(10) NOT NULL
One of my models has order data, cost per order/invoice ID and then dimensions on Fiscal Year, category, etc...the usual.
A user wanted to search it for an exact order amount. (They knew for example that one of our accounts was not balancing by single order worth $746.13 and assumed it must be an order that was placed but never marked shipped that slipped through the cracks).
Now, in the model I have "order amount" as a field and then a measure that sums that.
I could expose that "order amount" field as a label and let them filter on it in Excel (and that works).
However, I haven't had any luck filtering on the actual measure "Total Order Amount". Such as OrderID-> View Filter -> "Total Order Amount" equals 746.13.
I assume this is due to a few things:
Measure calculates at different levels so filtering on a measure is difficult as you would have to place all the "slicers" and set them first before the measure would "exist" at a level where it could be $746.13. Orders by year would have $746.13 as part of it's year sum, but wouldn't exist as a stand alone line item orders by year 2015 might be 2 million.
Orders by category might exist at 500,000, 8,000, 15,146.36, etc... but not $746.13.
So I would need OrderID on there as a column so the measure could return at the value of $746.13 for one row for it to match the filter?
Basically: 1. Why it can't really filter on a measure? 2. Is there a better way to accomplish this other than exposing the actual column in the fact table "order amount" as it feels like that could cause all kinds of confusion if other users try to slice/filter on that not realizing exactly what it is meant to be?
i want to limit the data being stored in a table to the past 6 months only. data in the table is refreshed each night. how do i do this without hard coding a date?
Anyone please suggest me that How to search specific word present multiple times from a paragraph stored in sqlserver database using asp.net 2.0 With Regards Tapan
I have a field that contains text strings that always follow this syntax "ABC:DE:comment follow". I want to return a new field with only whatever is between the two : (in this case DE but it could be more). It would be perfect if all the field follow that syntax, however, I have variations where users put spaces either before or after the :. Can the spaces be ignored?
SELECT CASE WHEN CHARINDEX(' ', Supervisor, CHARINDEX(' ', Supervisor, 0) + 1) > 0 THEN REPLACE(Supervisor, SUBSTRING(Supervisor, CHARINDEX(' ', Supervisor, CHARINDEX(' ', Supervisor, 0) + 1), LEN(Supervisor)), '') ELSE Supervisor END AS NewSupervisor from data d
However, I stumble when Middle Name exists somewhere in the name as Replace function repalces every occurrence of the string. For ex: "Allen, Gary G" becomes "Allen, ary"
Do we have any way to say sql to replace after certain index?
I have to extract a specific part of a string from a column in a sql server table. Following are the details and I have given the sample table and the sample strings.
I have 2 columns in my table [dbo].[StringExtract] (Id, MyString)
The row sample looks like the following
I have to extract the Id and a part of the column from mystring.
Id MyString 1 ABC|^~&|BNAME|CLIENT1||CLIENT1|20110609233558||BIC^A27|5014589635|K|8.1| ABC1|^~&|BNAME1|CLIENT1||CLIENT1|20110609233558||CTP^A27|5014589635|I|7.1| DEF||5148956598||||Apprised|Bfunction1||15|LMP|^^^201106101330| alloys3^ally^crimson^L||||alloys3^ally^crimson^L||||alloys3^ally^crimson^L|||||Apprised|
[Code] ....
The part I want to extract is in the line "ZZZ" and the string part that i want to extract is between the 5th and 6th pipes (|). So my output looks like the following
Id DesiredString 1 Extracts^This^String1 2 Extracts^This^String2 3 Extracts^This^String3
Is there a way to extract this either using TSQL or SSIS.
IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.objects WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[StringExtract]') AND type in (N'U')) DROP TABLE [dbo].[StringExtract] GO IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.objects WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[StringExtract]') AND type in (N'U')) BEGIN CREATE TABLE [dbo].[StringExtract]( [Id] [int] NULL,
I am required to send an XML file of our clients to head office in Belgium for comparison against a database of known undesirables. The data is in a legacy system with a custom database so I have created an SSIS package that extracts the tables I need into SQL Server and have developed a program that reads from a text source and creates the XML then Secure FTPs it to Hong Kong who will handle it from there.
My problem lies in actually extracting enough data to avoid too many false positives. The scanning will check name, identity (passport number, etc.), town/city and country. We don't hold an identity number and the town/city and country are buried in free format fields. A quick analysis of the 419,000 records shows that the spelling is terribly unreliable, too. In most cases country has not been entered because the clients are local and even when they are overseas, sometimes only the city has been entered. That is often misspelt, too e.g. Kuala Lumpar or Melboure.
The addresses are held in 3 equal length fields called Address_1, Address_2 and Address_3. There's no guarantee that I will find the town/city or country in any particular one of these fields. In some cases, the street number and name are in Address_3 because the first two hold a company name and a C/O line.
So I'm not going to fret over the ones where the address information is nonsense or missing but I would like to try and extract valid country names and town/city names, where present and this is where I get stuck. I'm from a COBOL programming background and although I'm loving getting used to the power of SQL, I'm still a bit stumped when I come across a problem like this probably because I keep thinking of the solution in procedural terms.
I have a feeling that the solution will be to create two separate reference tables, one of towns/cities and the other of countries. I would then somehow search the 3 fields looking for those keywords and if found, entering them in the appropriate part of the output text file to represent town/city and/or country. I did also think about destringing to find the separate words but that doesn't help where the name consists of two words such as NEW ZEALAND.
I would love to hear from anyone who has dealt with a similar problem and has a neat solution to this using SQL.
from getdate(), how can i get today's date with specific time :
For example : (i just need specific 11oclock today) 2014-07-08 11:00:00.000
This do the trick : select DATEADD( HH, 11, CAST(CAST(DATEADD(DAY,-1,GETDATE()) AS INT) AS DATETIME))
But at second half of the day it changed from 2014-07-08 11:00:00.000 to the next day, i dont know why who controls the past controls the future, who controls the present controls the past. ¯(º_o)/¯ ~~~
I know how to calculate age from DOB using the current date, but how do I do it if I want to say show me the age as of Jan 1, 2015. Where the DOB is short date looks like:
I'm trying to find a specific string (a name) and replace it with another inside of a VARCHAR(7000) field. Unfortunately, there are names like Ted and Ken that I'm trying to replace. I would like to leave words like Broken, admitted, etc... intact.
UPDATEtbl SETBody = LEFT(REPLACE(tbl.Body, pm.OldFirstName, p.FirstName), 7000) FROM Table tbl JOIN Person p ON p.PersonID = tbl.PersonID JOIN PersonMap pm ON pm.PersonID = p.PersonID AND LEN(pm.OldFirstName) > 2 WHEREtbl.Body LIKE '%[^a-z]'+pm.OldFirstName+'[., ]%
'The problem I'm running into is that the '[, ]%' in the LIKE excludes any record that ends with the FirstName because it is requiring either a space, comma or period after the name. Is there some way to add an empty string to the list of acceptable characters as that would cover any scenario in the data? I would prefer not to add all characters except space, comma and period, but I guess I could do that.
Hi, I have an old db with streets names and another one with employees. I have to use both tables to check if an employee adress is ok, but I have the following problem: Employee adress : 47th street nº12 2nd door b street in db 47th street
The question is how to say to sql that searchs for the employee street in the streets db cause the employee addres is bigger than any streets in db and I have no results with street like '%47th street nº12 2nd door b%' or something like that.
I have a parameter that is a varchar(50) and I want to know if there are any percent(%) signs in the string, what function can I use for this? I am looking for the T-SQL equivalent of InStr() Thanks,
Hi everybodyI have this query which need to extract names where I use the wildcard character % before and after the string to indicate that the string should not contain these characters but it is not working right .. Is there any way I could do that..SELECT name, famnameFROM inftable WHERE NAME NOT IN ('%socius%', '%rector%', '%superior%')In other words my result should not include those names that contains socius, rector, superior, this characters could begin with or in a middle of the field...thanks
Was wondering how you do the equivalent of an Oracle "Instr" function in TSQL, which returns the position of a string pattern in a specified string? I've looked through all the functions and can't find the equivalent.
Is there a T-SQL equivalent of the Oracle "Instr" function, whereby I can retrieve the position of a one specified charactier string within another? I have looked through the list of string functions and can't find an equivalent, which suprises me!
I want to search all the people in a database that names mary
