Although unsupported / undocumented, using FN_DBLOG(..) is inevitable.
While retrieving [RowLog Contents 0]/ [Log Record] transaction log information I encounter a possible limitation regarding the size of the fetched data. There is a suspect that data exceeding 8000 bytes is truncated.
I do not manage to get more than 8000 bytes - neither at the Studio Management Query pane nor with a programmatic ODBC piece of code. There is more data for sure - no doubt about that!!
Here is the text I do not believe is correct or at the least misleading...
"If you want to terminate the external transaction from within your stored procedure or function. In this case, you call the Transaction.Current.Rollback method. "
You cannot terminate transactions declared in TSQL in SQLCLR routines.
I have an SSIS package with its TransactionOption set to 'Required'. A data flow in the package has a script component that performs updates to a database table. The TransactionOption on the data flow is set to 'Supported'. However the script component apparently does no get enlisted to the current transaction because the updates made in the script component do not get rolled back when the package fails.
Documentation about the AquireConnection method indicates passing a 'transaction handle' parm to the AquireConnection method. I'm thinking that I need to pass this 'transaction handle' to the AquireConnection method of the connection used by the script in order for the script to become part of the current transaction.
How do I determine it what the transaction handle is? I have no idea what value I should be passing. I am new to Sql Server beginning with Sql Server 2005. I have no background with DTC.
I have one database configured with the Recovery Model "Simple".
I am getting alot of full transaction log messages... is this supposed to happen?
Another question is:
Imagine i am in a middle of a big select into statement... and in another query i run the backup truncate log... am i going to loose information on the other batch ("select into?")??
Goofed up and ran an update query. It messed up all the data in a single table. I'm trying not to restore the table from a previous backup since the backup is more than 20 GB. It's going to take forever to restore it. Any advice would be much appreciated!
After I watch a video for how to create MS SQL Replication, I configure distribution and create the publication. The problem comes from subscription. If I create a "PUSH" subscription, it works fine. However, when I create a "PULL" subscription, I got the following error. Where I should look for solution for this error.
Hi,I'm running SQL Server Version 8.00.194 on Windows 2000.I am am running this query:select TOP 2000TheoVolImpliedfrom OptionTradeswhere ReutersSymbol = 'IBM.N'and TheoVolImplied > 0.0TheoVolImplied is of type float, precision 15, length 8.When I run this query I get this error:Server: Msg 3628, Level 16, State 1, Line 1A floating point exception occurred in the user process. 1)table of customers: CustomerName, CustomerId, CustomerAddress 2)table of orders: OrderId, CustomerId, OrderAmount
I would like to have a query that returns everything from the customer table and add one column that has the amount of orders the customer has made, this is what I have so far:
CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.GetAllCutomerInfo AS
DECLARE @OrderCount int
SELECT CustomerName, CustomerId, CustomerAddress, (SELECT COUNT(OrderId) FROM Cust_Orders WHERE CustomerId= CustomerId) FROM Customers ORDER BY CustomerName
Can you add a variable:
CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.GetAllCutomerInfo AS
DECLARE @CustID int
DECLARE @OrderCount int
SELECT CustomerName, @CustID=CustomerId, CustomerAddress, (SELECT COUNT(OrderId) FROM Cust_Orders WHERE CustomerId= @CustID) FROM Customers ORDER BY CustomerName
Hello,I want to select the names and number of rows of all tables in thecurrent database, whose name starts with 'sys'my query is:select o.[name], sum(i.[rows]) as numbersfrom sysobjects oinner join sysindexes ion (o.[id] = i.[id])where o.[name] like 'sys%'and i.indid=1group by o.[name]the result of the query is (depending of the database) :name numberssysaltfiles 14syscharsets 114syscolumns 4934syscomments 2035sysconfigures 38sysdatabases 7sysdepends 5524sysdevices 6sysfilegroups 1sysfulltextcatalogs 0sysfulltextnotify 0sysindexes 98syslanguages 33sysmessages 3795sysobjects 1285syspermissions 806sysproperties 0sysreferences 0sysservers 1systypes 26sysusers 14sysxlogins 3But when I count the number of rows of "sysobjects", I getnumbers=1298, which is different from the result displayed above andsame goes for "syscolumns".I also tried "dbcc updateusage [0]" to update the SQL Server but Ididnt help me.Can anyone please advice me on this behaviour?
Hi all I've been having a really difficult time finding out how to run a query which selects records from an SQL database for the current logged on user. I've tried a whole manner of different approaches but here is where I am at now: <script runat="server"> Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) If Not Page.IsPostBack Then ds_meobservingcolleagues.SelectParameters(0).DefaultValue = User.Identity.Name End If End Sub </script>
This is not resulting in any error. But it is not returning the records that it should be either. Please can anyone help? I'm sure it shouldn't be this difficult to do
I have problem to find Current IP address for client computer that have a connection to Specific DataBase Server .I can only know the IP Address of DataBase Server but not current client user IP address that I am seeking to find it ,How can I do this by using T-SQL command? Please write full T-SQL code .
I am trying to match records that are >= the current date. I have tried using: SELECT DISTINCT name FROM table WHERE datefield >= DATEPART(month, GETDATE()) AND datefield >= DATEPART(day, GETDATE()) AND datefield >= DATEPART(year, GETDATE()) ORDER BY name but this is not giving me the result that I am looking for. What is the best way to match a DateTime field type using the current date without the time?
If I run the following select statment against the appropriate table it returns the duplilcate records in the result set. However, from this list I want to add an additional select statement embedded into the query that will actually return only those records with the most current syscreated date.
Example of script I'm using---
select cmp_fadd1, syscreated, cmp_name, cmp_code from cicmpy where cmp_fadd1 in (select cmp_fadd1 from cicmpy group by cmp_fadd1 having count(1) = 2) order by cmp_fadd1,syscreated desc
The results is:
Address Syscreated date Customer 1622 ONTARIO AVENUE 2005-06-15 22:19:45.000 RELIABLE PARTSLTD 1622 ONTARIO AVENUE 2004-01-22 18:10:05.000 RELIABLE PARTS LTD PEI CENTER 2006-01-05 22:03:50.000 P.G. ENERGY PEI CENTER 2004-01-22 17:57:56.000 P.G. ENERGY
From this I want to be able to select ONLY those records with the most current syscreated date or those records with 2005-06-15 and 2006-01-05
I'm using SQL Server 2012 Analysis services in Tabular mode and connected to Oracle Database and while importing, I'm getting below error after importing some rows.
OLE DB or ODBC error: Accessor is not a parameter accessor.. The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed.
I have a large DB with several fields i wish to select from, i have managed to select all the fields i require however the output format is not what i hoped. What is happening is that the address field created is Varchar 200 in length, the input form alows the user to enter this data in 3 seperate boxes - ie. :-
Street name :- Address :- County :-
Etc, all the data is then put into 1 db field (address). I gues you can see whats happening here, when the search returns the data it is displaying the carriage returns and therefore messing up the the next set of data returned.
My long winded question is this - is there a funciton i can call in the select statement which will remove the carriage returns or the blank spaces in the address field ?
I've this query SELECT t1.ID, t1.Date, t1.Time, t1.VALUE FROM RESULT WHERE t1.Date>=CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),DATEADD(d,-7,GETDATE()),101) AND t1.Date<CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 101)
Let's say, current date is 8 AUG 2005 and current time is 2045 So, i will get ID | Date (this is datetime) | Time (this is integer) | Value -------------------------------------------------- 204 | 8/1/2005| 2359 | 90 205 | 8/1/2005| 2250 | 99 206 | 8/1/2005| 1950 | 88 ... ... 207 | 8/7/2005| 1845 | 77 208 | 8/7/2005| 2255 | 77 209 | 8/7/2005| 2140 | 77
Can someone can show me to filter data between t1.Date>=CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),DATEADD(d,-7,GETDATE()),101) AND TIME>=CurrentTime t1.Date<CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 101) AND TIME<=CurrentTime
If current date is 8 AUG 2005 and current time is 2045, so the result shown as follow
ID | Date (this is datetime) | Time (this is integer) | Value -------------------------------------------------- 204 | 8/1/2005| 2359 | 90 205 | 8/1/2005| 2250 | 99 ... ... 207 | 8/7/2005| 1845 | 77
I only have this query, SELECT t1.ID, t1.Date, t1.Time, t1.VALUE FROM RESULT WHERE t1.Date>=CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),DATEADD(d,-7,GETDATE()),101) AND t1.Date<CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 101)
for example i have a table and i update a column using this query:
begin tran update table1 set column1='something where column2='otherthing' i dont give the "commit tran" statement but when i give a select statement on table1 select column1 from table1 where column2='otherthing' i find the change has been effected eventhough i have not given the commit tran command
I need to do a Select and after a Insert during a Transaction. But when i want to commit this transaction i've the following error message :
The transaction can not be committed if there are any opened cursors in the scope of this transaction. Make sure all data readers / result sets are explicitly closed before committing the change.
I don't understand this error message. How can i close my cursors.
Before my Insert i'm closing my SqlCeDataReader and i dispose it. My SqlCeCommand are also closed and dispose.
Is it normal practice to check for @@ERROR after a SELECT statement that retrieves data from a table OR we should only check for @@ERROR after a DELETE/INSERT/UPDATE type of statement? The SQL statement is inside a transaction.
I'm getting this when executing the code below. Going from W2K/SQL2k SP4 to XP/SQL2k SP4 over a dial-up link.
If I take away the begin tran and commit it works, but of course, if one statement fails I want a rollback. I'm executing this from a Delphi app, but I get the same from Qry Analyser.
I've tried both with and without the Set XACT . . ., and also tried with Set Implicit_Transactions off.
set XACT_ABORT ON Begin distributed Tran update OPENDATASOURCE('SQLOLEDB','Data Source=10.10.10.171;User ID=*****;Password=****').TRANSFERSTN.TSADMIN.TRANSACTIONMAIN set REPFLAG = 0 where REPFLAG = 1 update TSADMIN.TRANSACTIONMAIN set REPFLAG = 0 where REPFLAG = 1 and DONE = 1 update OPENDATASOURCE('SQLOLEDB','Data Source=10.10.10.171;User ID=*****;Password=****').TRANSFERSTN.TSADMIN.WBENTRY set REPFLAG = 0 where REPFLAG = 1 update TSADMIN.WBENTRY set REPFLAG = 0 where REPFLAG = 1 update OPENDATASOURCE('SQLOLEDB','Data Source=10.10.10.171;User ID=*****;Password=****').TRANSFERSTN.TSADMIN.FIXED set REPFLAG = 0 where REPFLAG = 1 update TSADMIN.FIXED set REPFLAG = 0 where REPFLAG = 1 update OPENDATASOURCE('SQLOLEDB','Data Source=10.10.10.171;User ID=*****;Password=****').TRANSFERSTN.TSADMIN.ALTCHARGE set REPFLAG = 0 where REPFLAG = 1 update TSADMIN.ALTCHARGE set REPFLAG = 0 where REPFLAG = 1 update OPENDATASOURCE('SQLOLEDB','Data Source=10.10.10.171;User ID=*****;Password=****').TRANSFERSTN.TSADMIN.TSAUDIT set REPFLAG = 0 where REPFLAG = 1 update TSADMIN.TSAUDIT set REPFLAG = 0 where REPFLAG = 1 COMMIT TRAN
It's got me stumped, so any ideas gratefully received.Thx

I have a design a SSIS Package for ETL Process. In my package i have to read the data from the tables and then insert into the another table of same structure.
for reading the data i have write the Dynamic TSQL based on some condition and based on that it is using 25 different function to populate the data into different 25 column. Tsql returning correct data and is working fine in Enterprise manager. But in my SSIS package it show me time out ERROR.
I have increase and decrease the time to catch the error but it is still there i have tried to set 0 for commandout Properties.
if i'm using the 0 for commandtime out then i'm getting the Distributed transaction completed. Either enlist this session in a new transaction or the NULL transaction.
and
Failed to open a fastload rowset for "[dbo].[P@@#$%$%%%]". Check that the object exists in the database.
I am getting this error :Distributed transaction completed. Either enlist this session in a new transaction or the NULL transaction. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. i have a sequence container in my my sequence container i have a script task for drop the existing tables. This seq. container connected to another seq. container. all these are in for each loop container when i run the package it's work fine for 1st looop but it gives me error for second execution.
Message is like this:
Distributed transaction completed. Either enlist this session in a new transaction or the NULL transaction.
i am getting this error "Distributed transaction completed. Either enlist this session in a new transaction or the NULL transaction.".
my transations have been done using LINKED SERVER. when i manually call the store procedure from Server 1 it works but when i call it through Service broker it dosen't work and gives me this error.
We have a rather large environment and have just a couple of boxes out there that we are getting cannot begin distributed transaction on inserts and updates but works fine on selects. Inserts and updates work fine outside the begin tran / commit so it's definitely DTC
We have checked the configuration on and the source box is set to No authentication required same for destination.
We have: Verified credentials running the service, changed them, same problem. Uninstalled and re-installed MSDTC per Microsoft instructions.
Have run all the tools for checking DTC DTCPing etc and followed those procedures which typically in the past has resolved any DTC issues. Other than swapping out the offending pc for a new one we are at a loss.

I'm making some sort of application where people can add their resume. They also need something to add places where they have worked or currently are working.
I have a form where they can add this and i add this experience using the following stored procedure:
GO SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO create procedure [dbo].[sp_Insert_Experience] @ExperienceId uniqueidentifier, @ExperienceEmployee nvarchar(100), @ExperienceFrom datetime, @ExperienceUntil datetime, @ExperienceQualifications nvarchar(250), @ExperienceTechnologies nvarchar(250), @ExperienceTasks nvarchar(250) as insert into Experiences values(@ExperienceId,@ExperienceEmployee,@ExperienceFrom,@ExperienceUntil,@ExperienceQualifications, @ExperienceTechnologies,@ExperienceTasks);
It must be possible to add the place where they currently are working. Then the ExperienceUntil has to be something like still going on. Then I decided that the user then had to set the current date.
But what I want is the following, I want that the ExperienceUntil keeps updating automatically, like everytime i get that record, it has to have current date.
Is this possible ?
But if the ExperienceUntil isn't the current date , it just had to take the supplied parameter date.
