Select All Option Visible In Designer But Gone On Report Manager
Mar 19, 2007
Hello,
I have several reports that use parameters that I have defined as multi-value. When I am designing the reports I see the "(Select All)" option listed first in each parm control that has the multi-value property set true. However, when the same reports are deployed to our server and viewed through Report Manager, the "(Select All)" option is missing. I need the "(Select All)" to be present.
I've seen some discussion of a service pack. Could this be the problem? What do we need to do to get our "(Select All)" back?
I am able to preview my report in Microsoft Visual Studio with a chart embedded at the top of the report. However after uploading the report to Report Manager, the chart is blank. How can I get the chart to be visible in Report Manager? I am using SQL Server 2012 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine. I can see the chart if I edit the report in Report Building in the print layout mode. I can also see the chart in my Microsoft Visual Studio Project.
I created a custom assembly using C# to transform some binary data into text, and in this assembly I used one win32 dll developed by our customer to help me to do the tranformation. The code I used to call the win32 dll is like below: [DllImport("tdasuie.dll", EntryPoint = "AlrtLogConditionToText", ExactSpelling = false, CharSet = CharSet.Auto, SetLastError = true)] private static extern UInt32 AlrtLogConditionToText(Byte[] pbCondition, StringBuilder pszText, UInt32 dwSize);
I defined a C# method to call the above win32 method and return a string. Then in the report, I called this C# method to get the correct string.
In the report designer, the C# method in the custom assembly can return the correct string in the preview window. But after I deployed the report into the report server, the textbox will only display "#error" in the report manager web page.
I'm running a report using MDX. In preview, the report displays correctly, but after deploying to Report Manager, where there were once numbers there is now '#Error'. The string fields display correctly, its just the numeric ones that are not working.
I have created some tables and relationships between them by using MS SQL Server Management Studio Express. The relationships are between a field named OId, which is not a part of the primary key but it is typed as an unique key. And a field named ParentTableOId.
When I open the two tables that have this relationship in the "Design Query in Editor" is not the relationship there. Anybody who knows why?

I have created a database on my local machine using SQL Server Express 2005. I am trying to export data from an excel file into a table in this database but when i see tasks available for the database there is no option of import data like I assume there should. Only the following options are visible. Detach Shrink Back Up Restore Generate Scripts
Any solutions on how I can get my excel file into the table.
After I use the report builder to create a generic report, how do I actually get that report into the report designer so that I can modify it more effectivly?
The issue that I have now is that the file on the report server is not a .rdl file and if I simply save it as one and then bring it into VS to modify it the code file is a html structure rater than a XML file type.
Iam trying to see the rows using e/m i.e by right clicking tables and choosing return all rows option but it gives me an error but if i chose the other options(i.e. design table etc) it works well.only that return rows option in all the databases doesn't work.
Again iam able to retrieve rows from query analyzer.
The error which it gives is:
An unexpected error happened during the operation.
[Query]-Query Designer encountered a Query error:Unspecified error.
Please if anyone knows the solution mail it to l_muthu@hotmail.com
I am trying to implement a dump and load settings activity into a DTS package. I am modeling it after an existing DTS package with the activity already in place. It also has some conversion tasks included. I've got the data transformed to the correct format, I need to know how to load it into everest. Can anyone tell me how to load it or where the documentation is online?
I am getting following error message while opening DTS package,
"No provider exist fro this connection on this computer", Invalid class string.
When I use the SQL Enterprise Manager (SEM) Return All Rows option to open a table, or you attempt to create or design a view, the following error occurs: An unexpected error happened during this operation. [Query] - Query Designer encountered a query error : unspecified error
This is working fine from remote enterprise manager.
Recently I have migrated all the databases including system databases from old server to new server.
I reinstalled latest MDAC to correct this problem, but I did not get any solution for this.
I have installed SQL Server service pack 4, do I need a SP4 re-install and how I can do this.
I have three types of specific reports that i have to create with the input parameters (range) either
1: By date (rdl 1)
2.By Month (rdl 2)
3.By Year (rdl 3)
Is it possible ( or how do I ) to create just one report template ( one rdl) with the three sets of parameters ( hiding/invisible which ever two sets base on user selection) and the output of the report will display the desired type( either by year, month or date).
I ask this because its possible to create a drill down report from year down to date etc in report designer (vs 2005). Not sure if I can create one instead of three rdls and with the 'logic' built within that template.
i am developing a Performance Management System for my organisation and reports are quite complex. so i thought to create a CLR stored procedure and then use this in Crystal Report.
The problem I am facing is that the CLR stored procedures I create using Visual Studio 2005 are not visible from Crystal Reports XI come with Visual Studio 2005. I can create stored procedures using standard transact sql and these are visible, but the CLR stored procedures are not.
I Simply create a CLR store procedure in Visual Basic and debug it. This CLR procedure then appeares under stored procedure node in SQL Server 2005.
I've noticed when I browse the stored procedures in my SQL Management Studio that the image of the stored procedure has a padlock shown in the icon, as if they are locked?
Do I have to explicitly enable a security attribute on CLR stored procedures to make them visible?
When I preview a report that has a link to a details report page in VS a "Back to Parent Report" button is displayed. However, when I publish the report to the Report Server, the .aspx page doesnt display the "Back to Parent Report" button. Is there a setting I need to make to have the button displayed?
I've been building and testing my reports and have found that if I decide that a report parameter should be removed, removing the parameter causes the report to fail.
If I remove a report parameter via the 'Report Parameters' menu, and I also remove the associated data dimension, filter expression and parameter check boxes, when I preview the report I get an error message. It appears the report is searching for the old parameter name even after it has been deleted.
This leaves me with the option of either restoring the parameter as it was, or rebuilding the report from scratch. I've done some investigation and the parameters seem to exist within the XML code that underlies the report despite the parameters being deleted.
I have installed SQL Server Reporting Service on window xp. everything working fine except one thing.
I have installed sql server with my a/c. my a/c have admin rights. when i giving http://dineshpatel/reports it is displaying page but Report Builder and other option are not displaying. I hope i don't have admin rights.
I have checked with local administrator login also but same problem.
what additional setting are require for admin rights?
Hi, I dont know if theres a way to print a section of some report, for example a summary report, where I have several charts and tables, and I want to print just the first 2 charts Could this be done by mapping the document or separating it in some other way?
I tried using 'SubReports' control, but this way I need to have for example the first two charts in a different report (lets say 2charts.rdl), and then in the summary.rdl, add the control and set the link to 2charts.rdl,.... but I think this is pretty annoying considering the future modifications of the format in the 2charts.rdl...
A user was created with a limited privilege under the USERS group. Once this user loged in the Report Manager he is acting like an Admin and Content Manager, though he is not given even a browser role.
What do u think that this guy is acting like a Super User evenif he is restricted to a browser role on the Report Manager ????????????
I have an issue as to where only some reports are visible within Report Viewer url. But if I navigate to the path of the rdl's there are many more present that should be visible through Report Viewer. The client was recently upgraded, and I seem to have all out of box roles and permission levels yet can only see some of those reports, as if some were manually copied to this folder location at a later point and perhaps some user job needs to be run to reflect import those additional rdl's?
Are there any training seminars/classes anyone would recommend attending? I am looking to further develop my Visual Studio Report Designer Skills. Leaning more to the intermediate/advanced side.
I am developing some reports for an ASP.NET solution, but my IDE does not display the design view of the reports. Instead, it only displays the XML definition even when I click View Designer. Yesterday the reports showed up correctly, and I know that the design view is there. Is there a setting that has been changed somewhere?
I have Reporting services 2000 (Version 8.00.1038.00) installed (installed with installation of MS CRM) and visual studio 2003 installed however, do not have the business intelligence report designer available. Where can I obtain the report designer addin? We don't have a RD 2000 CD. Is what I need available via download?
Well, I noticed several other threads on this topic, but the solutions accepted as answers did not resolve my issue.
I'm trying to pass a like clause via a parameter in a report. I'm running the report against an Oracle 10 db using the microsoft for oracle oledb driver. Here's my sql I'm using in the report designer:
select * from dbprod.database_names_vw where db_name LIKE ('%' + :1 + '%').
When I run this, I get the dreaded: ORA-01722 error
I referred to this page: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337223.aspx
which covers: Using Query Parameters with Specific Data Sources
I tried all the variations from that link...I tried the "@" sign. I tried the ?. I tried double quotes...I've tried everything...
I was under the impression I had to use unnamed parameters, as above....
Routinely when I use BIDS to work on a report design, I cannot close BIDS because I get a message box that says:
Microsoft Visual Studio cannot shut down because a modal dialog is active. Close the active dialog and try again. Of course, there is no visible dialog open. I actually have to terminate the process from task manager. I do not get this problem when using SSIS or SSAS. Only SSRS. Any Ideas? Thanks! BobP
I have the problem on showing the records in my report. I explain how i designed the report. I made the report in Business Intelligence Project. The report I am achieving is the Personal Information of all employees. After creating a query/dataset, I dragged the fields to the textboxes. I am trying to show 1 employees' record in each page. My report looks like this...
