Select Max Values From Queries For Multiple Schedule_Number

Jan 8, 2008

I am trying to select the max for each Schedule_Number when Process
Description = 'Exit Cold Rinse'. In the following table, 2:00 and
4:00 should be returned for 12345_001 and 12345_002 respectively. I
have tried to join the two queries and would like to use the current
Schedule_Number as one of the criteria when determining the max.
Below is some code that I've used thus far? Does anyone have
suggestions?

*Schedule_Number * Process_Description * TMDT
*12345_001 * Exit Cold Rinse * 1/07/08 01:00:00 PM
*12345_001 * Enter Cold Rinse * 1/07/08 01:30:00 PM
*12345_001 * Exit Cold Rinse * 1/07/08 02:00:00 PM
*12345_002 * Enter Cold Rinse * 1/07/08 02:30:00 PM
*12345_002 * Exit Cold Rinse * 1/07/08 03:00:00 PM
*12345_002 * Enter Cold Rinse * 1/07/08 03:30:00 PM
*12345_002 * Exit Cold Rinse * 1/07/08 04:00:00 PM

Select *
From
(Select distinct Schedule_Number
From dbo.Process_Data
WHERE left(Schedule_Number,5) = '12345') as Query1
left join
(Select *
From dbo.Process_Data
Where TMDT =
(SELECT Max(TMDT)
FROM dbo.Process_Data
WHERE Process_Description = 'Exit Cold Rinse' and
Query1.Schedule_Number = Query2.Schedule_Number)) as Query2
on Query1.Schedule_Number=Query2.Schedule_Number

Can I Write Multiple 'Select' Queries In Access? Please Help!

Jul 22, 2004

I'm trying to code a query in Access that finds rows w/ duplicate "ContactKeys" then finds duplicate "AddressLine1s" out of the list of duplicate "ContactKeys." (I tried subqueries but it was really slow)

I am trying to create a new table with only duplicate ContactKey rows, and then I wanted to use that table to pick out the duplicate AddressLine1 rows.

Code:

SELECT *
INTO dupContactKeys
FROM Contacts
WHERE ContactKey IN (
SELECT ContactKey
FROM Contacts
GROUP BY ContactKey
HAVING COUNT(*) > 1)

SELECT *
FROM dupContactKeys
WHERE ContactKey IN (
SELECT AddressLine1, Zip
FROM Contacts
GROUP BY AddressLine1, Zip
HAVING COUNT(*) > 1)
ORDER BY ContactKey, TypeKey;

drop table dupContactKeys

This of course doesn't work. Please help, as I am going slightly mad!

Multiple Select Values - How Are They Passed?

Oct 17, 2007

Greetings, all!

I had a question about how SRS passes multiple values to a query.

For example:

Say I had a "select box" (Sorry, can't think of the proper term right now) with the following values:

F1
F2
F3
F4

The user then selects F1 and F4.

When SRS passes the selected values to the query or procedure, how are they passed? As a delimited value?

Examples of what I mean:

@Parameter = 'F1', 'F4'
@Parameter = F1 [Some unknown delimiting symbol] F4
@Parameter = 'F1,F4'

Does anyone know how this is done? Or is it done in some other odd way?

Thanks!

How To Save Listbox Multiple Select Values

Jan 11, 2005

Hi,

I have an ASP.NET form that stores it's data in MSDE but I just added a multi-select ListBox to the form and I'm having a hard time coming up with a way of writing that data to the database. Should I write the values into a column on the same table where I store the rest of the data from the form (values separated by a comma) or shouild I create another table (one to many) and store the data there. I like the second option, but I'm not sure how to loop through each value and write it to the database table.

I grab the values for the selection as follow:

foreach (ListItem lstItem in lbAttendees.Items)
{
if (lstItem.Selected == true)
{
grpList.Add(lstItem.Value.ToString());
}
}

but I'm not sure on what to do next and could use some help.

Thanks
Germano

SQL 2012 :: Select Multiple Values From Same Column And Make Them To Show In A Row

Jun 10, 2015

I created a query that got the following result. But I expect to get the structure like, care_nbr, cust_nbr,legal_name, address_type=physical address, addr_line_1, addr_line_2, address_type-primary address, ddr_line_1, addr_line_2. That means I only need primary and physical address, and expect them to show in a row to each care_nbr. How to perform that?

HELP With SQL Query: Select Multiple Values From One Column Based On &&<= Condition.

Aug 7, 2007

Hello all. I hope someone can offer me some help. I'm trying to construct a SQL statement that will be run on a Dataset that I have. The trick is that there are many conditions that can apply. I'll describe my situation:

I have about 1700 records in a datatable titled "AISC_Shapes_Table" with 49 columns. What I would like to do is allow the user of my VB application to 'create' a custom query (i.e. advanced search). For now, I'll just discuss two columns; The Section Label titled "AISC_MANUAL_LABEL" and the Weight column "W". The data appears in the following manner:

(AISC_Shapes_Table)

AISC_MANUAL_LABEL W
W44x300 300
W42x200 200
(and so on)
WT22x150 150
WT21x100 100

(and so on)
MT12.5x12.4 12.4
MT12x10 10
(etc.)

I have a listbox which users can select MULTIPLE "Manual Labels" or shapes. They then select a property (W for weight, in this case) and a limitation (greater than a value, less than a value, or between two values). From all this, I create a custom Query string or filter to apply to my BindingSource.Filter method. However I have to use the % wildcard to deal with exceptions. If the user only wants W shapes, I use "...LIKE 'W%'" and "...NOT LIKE 'WT%" to be sure to select ONLY W shapes and no WT's. The problems arises, however, when the user wants multiple shapes in general. If I want to select all the "AISC_MANUAL_LABEL" values with W <= 40, I can't do it. An example of a statement I tried to use to select WT% Labels and MT% labels with weight (W)<=100 is:

Code SnippetSELECT AISC_MANUAL_LABEL, W
FROM AISC_Shape_Table
WHERE (W <= 100) AND ((AISC_MANUAL_LABEL LIKE 'MT%') AND (AISC_MANUAL_LABEL LIKE 'WT%'))

It returns a NULL value to me, which i know is NOT because no such values exist. So, I further investigated and tried to use a subquery seeing if IN, ANY, or ALL would work, but to no avail. Can anyone offer up any suggestions? I know that if I can get an example of ONE of them to work, then I'll easily be able to apply it to all of my cases. Otherwise, am I just going about this the hard way or is it even possible? Please, ANY suggestions will help. Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Steve G.

Retrieving Multiple Values From One Field In SQL Server For Use In Multiple Columsn In Reports

Mar 30, 2007

I am trying to create a report using Reporting Services.

My problem right now is that the way the table is constructed, I am trying to pull 3 seperate values i.e. One is the number of Hours, One is the type of work, and the 3rd is the Grade, out of one column and place them in 3 seperate columns in the report.

I can currently get one value but how to get the information I need to be able to use in my reports.

So far what I've been working with SQL Reporting Services 2005 I love it and have made several reports, but this one has got me stumped.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I might not have made my problem quite clear enough. My table has one column labeled value. The value in that table is linked through an ID field to another table where the ID's are broken down to one ID =Number of Hours, One ID = Grade and One ID= type of work.

What I'm trying to do is when using these ID's and seperate the value related to those ID's into 3 seperate columns in a query for using in Reporting Services to create the report

As you can see, I'm attempting to change the name of the same column 3 times to reflect the correct information and then link them all to the person, where one person might have several entries in the other fields.

As you can see I can change the names individually in queries and pull the information seperately, it's when roll them altogether is where I'm running into my problem

Thanks for the suggestions that were made, I apoligize for not making the problem clearer.

Here is a copy of what I'm attempting to accomplish. I didn't have it with me last night when posting.

--Pulls the Service Opportunity

SELECT cs.value AS "Service Opportunity"

FROM Cstudent cs

INNER JOIN cattribute ca ON ca.attributeid = cs.attributeid

WHERE ca.name = 'Service Opportunity'

--Pulls the Number of Hours

SELECT cs.value AS 'Number of Hours'

FROM Cstudent cs

INNER JOIN cattribute ca ON ca.attributeid =cs.attributeid

WHERE ca.name ='Num of Hours'

--Pulls the Person Grade Level

SELECT cs.value AS 'Grade'

FROM Cstudent cs

INNER JOIN cattribute ca ON ca.attributeid =cs.attributeid

WHERE ca.name ='Grade'

--Pulls the Person Number, First and Last Name and Grade Level

SELECT s.personnumber, s.lastname, s.firstname, cs.value as "Grade"

FROM student s

INNER JOIN cperson cs ON cs.personid = s.personid

INNER JOIN cattribute ca ON ca.attributeid = cs.attributeid

WHERE cs.value =(SELECT cs.value AS 'Grade'

WHERE ca.attributeid = cs.attributeid AND ca.name='Grade')

Comparing Result Set Values Of 2 Queries ??

Apr 20, 2004

Any assistance would be so helpful !!

We have 2 tables.. lets call them INV and COST

Table INV and COST have 3 related columns, namely ID,AMOUNT and VAT. As shown below...

ID | AMOUNT | VAT ( INV TABLE )
1 |20.125 |2.896
2 |10.524 |1.425

ID | AMOUNT | VAT ( COST TABLE )
1 |20.125 |4.821 .... different to ID 1 in INV Table
2 |10.524 |1.425

If you look above, I need to sum the AMOUNT and VAT columns and get a value for each ID, then compare the two tables and get the ID's that have different values...in this case I would need a result saying ID1 as the total of INV TABLE ID1 (23.021) is different to the corresponding ID1 row in COST TABLE (24.946)

Thats it ???

Please could someone out there offer some ideas ?

THANKS

is it possible to get the numbers from keys 1 & 2 on the same row in a new query?

Or if it is easier a query that with give me (completed picks/total picks) = a decimal I can feed to the display as a percentage.

Multiple Columns With Different Values OR Single Column With Multiple Criteria?

Aug 22, 2007

Hi,

I have multiple columns in a Single Table and i want to search values in different columns. My table structure is

col1 (identity PK)
col2 (varchar(max))
col3 (varchar(max))

I have created a single FULLTEXT on col2 & col3.
suppose i want to search col2='engine' and col3='toyota' i write query as

SELECT

TBL.col2,TBL.col3
FROM

TBL
INNER JOIN

CONTAINSTABLE(TBL,col2,'engine') TBL1
ON

TBL.col1=TBL1.[key]
INNER JOIN

CONTAINSTABLE(TBL,col3,'toyota') TBL2
ON

TBL.col1=TBL2.[key]

Every thing works well if database is small. But now i have 20 million records in my database. Taking an exmaple there are 5million record with col2='engine' and only 1 record with col3='toyota', it take substantial time to find 1 record.

I was thinking this i can address this issue if i merge both columns in a Single column, but i cannot figure out what format i save it in single column that i can use query to extract correct information.
for e.g.;
i was thinking to concatinate both fields like
col4= ABengineBA + ABBToyotaBBA
and in search i use
SELECT

TBL.col4
FROM

TBL
INNER JOIN

CONTAINSTABLE(TBL,col4,' "ABengineBA" AND "ABBToyotaBBA"') TBL1
ON

TBL.col1=TBL1.[key]
Result = 1 row

But it don't work in following scenario
col4= ABengineBA + ABBCorola ToyotaBBA

SELECT

TBL.col4
FROM

TBL
INNER JOIN

CONTAINSTABLE(TBL,col4,' "ABengineBA" AND "ABB*ToyotaBBA"') TBL1
ON

TBL.col1=TBL1.[key]

Result=0 Row
Any idea how i can write second query to get result?

Multiple Queries

Nov 15, 2007

Hi
I have two queries, one which takes 1 second to execute and the other which takes less that a second to execute.
I need to join them up similar to the following but when I do it take forever for them to execute.
select *
from table
where column not in (select column from table2)
It is quite complex and I have a couple of views included in the queries but it executes quickly on my dev database and when I run it on the live one it takes forever. Granted there is alot more data on the live database but the individual queries only take a second to run.
 Does anyone know why there would be such a time increase whenever I join the queries and run them on my live database?
 Any help would be appreciated.
 Thanks,
Frankie

SqlDataReader - Pulling Multiple Values Into Multiple Variables

Mar 29, 2007

Hello all,I'm trying to request a number of URLS (one for each user) from my database, then place each of these results into a separate string variables. I believed that SqlDataReader could do this for me, but I am unsure of how to accomplish this, or if I am walking down the wrong road. The current code is below (the section in question is in bold), please ignore the fact that I'm using MySQL as the commands work in the same way. public partial class main : System.Web.UI.Page{    String UserName;    String userId;    String HiveConnectionString;    String Current_Location;    ArrayList Location;    public String Location1;    public String Location2;    public String Location3;    //Int32 x = 0;    private void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)    {        if (User.Identity.IsAuthenticated)        {            UserName = Membership.GetUser().ToString();            userId = Membership.GetUser().ProviderUserKey.ToString();            HiveConnectionString = "Database=hive;Data Source=localhost;User Id=hive_admin;Password=West7647";            using (MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlConnection conn = new MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlConnection(HiveConnectionString))            {                // Map Updates                 MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand Locationcmd = new MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand(                        "SELECT Location FROM tracker WHERE Location = IsOnline = '1'");                Locationcmd.Parameters.Add("?PKID", MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDbType.VarChar, 255).Value = userId;                Locationcmd.Connection = conn;                conn.Open();                MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDataReader LocationReader = Locationcmd.ExecuteReader();                 while (LocationReader.Read())                {                        Location1 = LocationReader.GetString(0);                        //Location2 = LocationReader.GetString(1); // This does not work..                }                                LocationReader.Close();                conn.Close();                // IP Display                MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand Checkcmd = new MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand(                        "SELECT UserName FROM tracker WHERE PKID = ?PKID");                Checkcmd.Parameters.Add("?PKID", MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDbType.VarChar, 255).Value = userId;                Checkcmd.Connection = conn;                conn.Open();                object UserExists = Checkcmd.ExecuteScalar();                conn.Close();                if(UserExists == null)                {                    MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand Insertcmd = new MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand(                        "INSERT INTO tracker (PKID, UserName, IpAddress, IsOnline) VALUES (?PKID, ?Username, ?IpAddress, 1)");                                        Insertcmd.Parameters.Add("?IpAddress", MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDbType.VarChar, 15).Value = Request.UserHostAddress;                    Insertcmd.Parameters.Add("?Username", MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDbType.VarChar, 255).Value = UserName;                    Insertcmd.Parameters.Add("?PKID", MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDbType.VarChar, 255).Value = userId;                    Insertcmd.Connection = conn;                    conn.Open();                    Insertcmd.ExecuteNonQuery();                    conn.Close();                }                else                {                    MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand Updatecmd = new MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand(                        "UPDATE tracker SET IpAddress = ?IpAddress, IsOnline = '1' WHERE UserName = ?Username AND PKID = ?PKID");                    Updatecmd.Parameters.Add("?IpAddress", MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDbType.VarChar, 15).Value = Request.UserHostAddress;                    Updatecmd.Parameters.Add("?Username", MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDbType.VarChar, 255).Value = UserName;                    Updatecmd.Parameters.Add("?PKID", MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDbType.VarChar, 255).Value = userId;                    Updatecmd.Connection = conn;                    conn.Open();                    Updatecmd.ExecuteNonQuery();                    conn.Close();                }            }        }    } Can anyone advise me on what I should be doing (even if its just a "you should be using this command) if this is not correct? In fact any pointers would be nice !Thanks everyone!

Update Query With Sub-queries To Find The Values

Jul 20, 2005

Help, please. I am trying to update atable with this structre:CREATE TABLE Queue (PropID int, EffDate smalldatetime,TxnAmt int)INSERT Queue (PropID) SELECT 1INSERT Queue (PropID) SELECT 2INSERT Queue (PropID) SELECT 3....from this table...CREATE TABLE Txns (PropID int, TxnDate smalldatetime,TxnType char(1), TxnAmt int)INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20000201', 'B', 100000INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20020515', 'B', 110000INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20020515', 'A', 120000INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20020615', 'c', 130000....only certain txn types are okay, and they have an orderof preference...CREATE TABLE GoodTxnTypes (GoodTxnType char(1), Pref)INSERT GoodTxnTypes SELECT 'A', 1INSERT GoodTxnTypes SELECT 'B', 2The idea is to fill in the NULL fields in the Queue table,according to a rule -- the transaction must be the latesttransaction within a date window, it must be one of the goodtxn types, and if there are two txns on that date, choosethe txn by the preferred txn type (A is preferred over B,according to the field Pref).If the time window were 20020101 to 20030101, the txnselected to update the Queue table would be this one:INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20020515', 'A', 120000 -- there aretwo in the time window that are type A or B; they areboth on the same day, so the 'A' is preferred.If the time window were 20000101 to 20010101, this wouldbe selected because it is the only A or B type txn inthe interval:INSERT Txns SELECT 1 '20000201', 'B', 100000I'm looking for a statement that starts...UPDATE Queue SET EffDate = ...., TxnAmt = .... (EffDate,in this table, is the same as TxnDate in the Txn table).Assume we have @FirstDate and @LastDate available.Help, please. I'm getting stuck with (a) a sub-query tofind the relevant Txn records, and (b) another sub-querywithin that to find the MAX(TxnDate) within the timewindow. Filtering the Txn records on the basis of theGoodTxnTypes table is easy, as is ordering what is returned.But I'm having trouble joining the sub-queries back to theQueue table on the basis of PropId.

TableAdapters With Multiple Queries

Jul 18, 2007

Hello everyone...
I have created a report that pulls data from 5 different tables. I have created a tableadapter for this. I have a sql stored procedure with left joins that I am trying to use but keep getting key violations and not null value violations when I try to use it. I have tried setting the NULLValue to NOT throw exception but that has not helped. I have also tried to writing a query for each table. I can add each query to my tableadapter but I can use them all at the same time for some reason. Can this be done? When I go to my report and try to add fields to it from the tableadapter, I only see the results of one query. I am only trying to SELECT. I am not doing any updates or deletes to the tables on the SQL Server.
 Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Multiple Join Queries?

Mar 3, 2008

I get a wo_ID and want to query company data. I have the following tables, work_orders (has wo_ID, wo_name and install_id), install_ids (has install_id, comp_id) and customers (comp_id, company_name). The query process goes like this: I get a wo_ID and I need to find the install_id that corresponds with that wo_ID in that same work_orders table. Then take that install_id and find out the comp_id that corresponds with that install_id from the install_ids table. Finally take that customer_id and link it to comp_id in the customers table to find out company data.  I need to join it multiple times to get my final data. I have a simple one that works right now with one join and using the install_id, but I don't know how to expand it with multiple joins. Thanks.

Help: Need To Combine Multiple IF Queries

Apr 14, 2008

I hit a bit of a road block on a project I have been working on.  If anyone has a suggestion or a solution for how to combine my queries that use IFELSE that would be a huge help.  I noted my query below./* will remove for aspx page use */USE Database/* these params are on the page in drop down boxes*/DECLARE @ProductID int;DECLARE @BuildID int;DECLARE @StatusID int;/* static params for this sample */SET @ProductID = -1;SET @BuildID = -2SET @StatusID = -3/*the query that will build the datagrid.  currently this runs and produces three different result sets.How do I combine these statements so they produce a single set of results? */IF (@ProductID = -1) SELECT * FROM tblTestLog ELSE (SELECT * FROM tblTestLog WHERE (ProductID = @ProductID))IF (@BuildID = -2) SELECT * FROM tblTestLog ELSE (SELECT * FROM tblTestLog WHERE (BuildID = @BuildID))IF (@StatusID = -3) SELECT * FROM tblTestLog ELSE (SELECT * FROM tblTestLog WHERE (AnalystStatusID = @StatusID))

Multiple Queries For One Objective

Dec 25, 2014

If you have a dozen or so queries related to the same thing such as an exception report do you wrangle with the query to make it a one stop shop or do you do something different? Is it possible to drop them into a SP and have them all execute at the same time?

I am running queries for against business rules and wanted to do it the right way. I don't have a solid mentor at work, two guys who are experienced and off a lot but not in the world of reports.

I hit a bit of a road block on a project I have been working on. If anyone has a suggestion or a solution for how to combine my queries that use IFELSE that would be a huge help. I noted my query below.

/* will remove for aspx page use */
USE Database

DECLARE @ProductID int;
DECLARE @BuildID int;
DECLARE @StatusID int;

/* static params for this sample */
SET @ProductID = -1;
SET @BuildID = -2
SET @StatusID = -3

/*
the query that will build the datagrid. currently this runs and produces three different result sets.
How do I combine these statements so they produce a single set of results?
*/

IF (@ProductID = -1) SELECT * FROM tblTestLog
ELSE (SELECT * FROM tblTestLog WHERE (ProductID = @ProductID))

ELSE (SELECT * FROM tblTestLog WHERE (BuildID = @BuildID))
