Select All Table Values By Default

Hi,
I have something similar to the following:
CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.MySproc
@columnVal int = null
AS
BEGIN
SELECT
*
FROM
MyTable
WHERE
MyTable.column = @columnVal
END
If columnVal is not passed into the stored proc i want it to just select everything from 'MyTable' (without the WHERE clause)....
how can I do this in as few lines of code possible?

I have a stored procedure with a SELECT statement, that retrieves 1 row.
SELECT name FROM tblNames WHERE nameID = "1"
I want all the NULL values in that row to be change in some default values.
How do I do this?

For reasons that are not relevant (though I explain them below *), Iwant, for all my users whatever privelige level, an SP which createsand inserts into a temporary table and then another SP which reads anddrops the same temporary table.My users are not able to create dbo tables (eg dbo.tblTest), but arepermitted to create tables under their own user (eg MyUser.tblTest). Hi,
I have a data transform from a flat-file to a SQL server database.
Some of the flat-file fields have NULL values. The SQL table I'm
importing into does not allow NULL values in any field, but each field
has a Default value specified.
I need to have it so that if a null value comes across in a field using
the data transform, it takes the table default on import. I could of
sworn I had this working a few days ago, but I get errors now that
state I'm violating table constraints. Has anyone done this before?

I have my stored procedure set to
Territory_code IN (@Territory)
, now , how do i enter in more then one value. When i select the multi value check box, it gives me more spaces. But then doesnt recognize the values when i put in more then one. am i doing something wrong?
The field is a Varchar 20

A have a multi-valued parameter (B) which is dependent on a single-valued parameter (A) on my report. When a value is selected in A, I want all matching values in B to be selected by default and the "Select All" option checked. To do this I have set the Default Values section in B to point to the same dataset as the "Available Values" section. Both A and B have default values so the report runs automatically.
One of the values in parameter A (say Value1) yields more values in parameter B than the other (say Value2).
If I run the report the first time with Value1 selected as the default for parameter A, all values in B are checked correctly. If I run the report with Value2 selected the first time and then change the selected value to Value2 and run my report, all values in B are displayed but only the values that were previously checked (when Value1 was selected), are now checked, leaving the "Select All" unchecked.
What am I doing wrong? Why are all the values in B not checked? The dataset is the same in "Available Values" section and "Default Values" section.

So I have this table called "listings"... there are 100 unique listings with an integer ID for each.
I have another table called "ratings"... in there are multiple entries that have a listing_id field and a rating field. The rating field is a value from 0-10.
I want to select ALL "listings" from the listings table... and then sort based on the average number that the multiple rating fields in the ratings table has for that listing.
I CAN NOT figure it out!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please respond if I have not explained this properly. Thanks in advance.

Note that i have used N becuase it is unicode data
then
select * from product; this works fine.
select * from product where product_id=1; this also works fine,
but
select * from product where translated_name=N'kenenisa'; this doesnot work correctly, so how can i fix this problem ?

Hi,
I've got a table with trialsubscriptions. When someone orders a trialsubscription he has to fill in a form. With the values in the form I like to fill a database with some extra fields from the trialsubscription table. I get those extra fields with a datareader. But when I insert I can't use the same datareader (its an insert), I can't make two datareaders because I have to close the first one etc.
Does someone had the same problem and has some example code (or make some :-)) Some keywords are also possible!

With the following SQL. When I select from the temp table I return the right count but my second column doesn't return anything.
Count Status
1010 2000
1111 2222
When I run the query that is being inserted into the the temp table I return the correct results
Count Status
1010 Pass
2000 Pass with Obs
1111 Fail
2222 None
how to select the data from the temp table exactly the same way it was inserted. As I need to select the exact same data from the insert.

data in column [mui] is repeated as the table has more than one entries for the same [mui],
The requirement is to select the distinct[mui] but value in all the other columns for the same mui should be select in the next row with null for the same [mui]
The recordset expected should be something like this.
[mui],[related_mui],[price_group_id],[date_entered],[date_ended] m123,rm345,'pr','12-10-2003',12-12-2004'
null,rm789,'ar','12-1-2003',26-2-2004'
null,rm999,'xy','14-12-2002',12-2-2004'

Hi!
I recently run into a senario when a procedure quiered a table without a order by clause. Luckily it retrived data in the prefered order.
The table returns the data in the same order in SQL Manager "Open Table"
So I started to wonder what deterimins the sort order when there is no order by clause ?
I researched this for a bit but found no straight answers. My table has no PK, but an identiy column.

I have two tables, D and C, whose INTERSECT / EXCEPT values I'd like to insert in the following table I've created
CREATE TABLE DinCMatch (
servername varchar(50),
account_name varchar (50),
date_checked datetime DEFAULT getdate()
)
The following stmt won't work...
INSERT INTO DinCMatch
select servername, account_name from D
intersect
select servername, account_name from C
... as the number of supplied values does not match table definition.

I have 2 identical tables one contains current settings, the other contains all historical settings.I could create a union view to display the current values from table A and all historical values from table B, butthat would also require a Variable to hold the tblid for both select statements.
Q. Can this be done with one joined or conditional select statement?

We have a table that needs to have 00 as the default values in the columns until the point in time where they are updated with the values that we will use. The updated values will be two numbers 1-7 and 3-9 example 47, 14, 26, 68. This is a nvarchar data type in the columns. When I try to set the default values to double zero 00, after i click save it changes them to a single zero 0 instead of a double zero 00.

I have a row of data being inserted in to a db table with default values, say:
Name Date1 Date2 and I'm inserting VALUES 'myName','12/04/83',NULL
Is there any way for the field Date2 to take the value being inserted into Date1 (ideally via default value)?

I am designing a new Database using SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Manager. I have a field called Phone, Fax and Zip.
Under Enterprise Manager I am trying to set up default values for these fields
Phone, Fax = 000-000-000
Zip = 00000
However Sql Server truncates it to 0.
How do I default value as shown about in SQL server?

I have a DTS package that is connected to a table in an Access97 database and to a duplicate(by schema) table in SQL2000. If there is a default value in the Access97 field properties the DTS package will import that value regardless of any other value in the Access field. I can not see anything in the DTS designer that handles this choice.
Even when I look at the Access connection in preview it shows only the default values.
Any thoughts on getting the actual values?

The columns fro which we do not enter any values.Fro eg in my table i did not insert any values to Balance col,in my table.
In SQL 2005,management studio,when i said modify table and changed the default to 0 from NULL and also unchecked the checkbox saying Allow Nulls.
I did the above changes and said save.It gave an error saying
'AccountsBalance' table
- Unable to modify table.
Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'Balance', table 'AccountBalanceSheet.dbo.Tmp_AccountsBalance'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.
The statement has been terminated.

Pardon the newbie question...but I'm trying to load a dimension table in a small data mart that has columns in it that are unique to the dimension and not sourced from any source table. Two of those columns are date columns that I want to default to the system date and the other column I want to load with a default value. I can't figure out how to do this within a data flow task. The source columns flow from the input db source into a scd transform but I can't seem to edit the columns in the target table table if they don't actually come from a data source. There doesn't seem to be a data transform object to handle this.

I have a report that I run where the selected MONTH and YEAR defaults to the prior month and year. When I run the report it shows the parameter values show as June 2007. Which is correct since this is July.
If I schedule the report to run on the 1st of every month will it default to the prior month/year automatically (I have the "use default" box checked).
