Select Rows Where Int Formatted Date &< GetDate()

May 26, 2008

Hey there,

I have a field called renew_date which is of (int) type, and represents a date in the format 'yyyymmdd'.

Eg. If the renew date were yesterday the field would contain: 20080525.

I need a select statment that will determine if the date contained in this field is '<' todays date.

I have wrote a select statement that works, however I'm wondering if there is a better way to handle this.

select * from sometable
where renew_date <
convert(int, convert(varchar, DATEPART(yyyy, getDate())) +
convert(varchar, Right('0' + Convert(VarChar(2), DATEPART(mm, getDate())),2)) +
convert(varchar, Right('0' + Convert(varchar(2), DATEPART(dd, getDate())),2)))

Any help you may provide is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
--Mike

Sep 27, 2007

Hi all

With this query

select convert(varchar(16), getdate(), 101)+' '+LEFT(convert(varchar, getdate(), 108),5)

I get

mmddyyyy hh:mm

How can I change my query to get

mmddyyyy hh:mm but no 0 when month from 1 to 9

example can not be: 02/12/2007 03:34
but should be: 2/12/2007 03:34

Don't know why excel not accept month with 0 from 1 to 9

Transact SQL :: Convert Server Date MM/DD/CCYY To Oracle Date Formatted As NUMBER (8,0)

Apr 30, 2015

So I have to build dynamic T-SQL because of a date parameter that will be provided. The Date Parameter will be provided in SSRS in normal MM/DD/CCYY format. So how do I then convert that date to my Oracle format

NUMERIC(8,0) CCYYMMDD?

I tried this...

SET@SQLQuery=@SQLQuery+'ANDMEMBER_SPAN.YMDEFF<='''''+CAST(@AsOfDateASVARCHAR)+''''''+@NewLineChar;
SET@SQLQuery=@SQLQuery+'ANDMEMBER_SPAN.YMDEFF>='''''+CAST(@AsOfDateASVARCHAR)+''''''+@NewLineChar;

but that put it in the format of...

AND
MEMBER_SPAN.YMDEFF<=''2015-04-01''
AND
MEMBER_SPAN.YMDEFF>=''2015-04-01''

Which is close...I think I just need to lose the "-"

Is this not working because GETDATE() is like a timestamp format? How can I get this to work to return those rows where [EODPosting].[MatchDate] is equal to today's date?

Return Formatted Date From Stored Proc?

Mar 8, 2004

What is the recommended method of returning a formatted date from a stored procedure?

The date is held in a date time field. I wish to return the date formatted as:

dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm

for display in a bound text box on a win form. JUst selecting the date and binding it to the text box shows:

dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss

I do not want the :ss to show. A textbox does not have a format property (that I can see). I suppose I could create my own textbox inheriting from the standard and apply a display format property. I thought it may be easier to select as required in an sp. The textbox is read only on the form.

I was looking at:

select jobHeaders.DateTimeJobTaken AS [Job Taken],
CAST(datepart(dd,jobHeaders.DateTimeJobTaken) as char(2)) + '/' +
CAST(datepart(mm,jobHeaders.DateTimeJobTaken) as char(2)) + '/' +
CAST(datepart(yyyy,jobHeaders.DateTimeJobTaken) as char(4))

from jobHeaders

but this gives :
8 /3 /2004 with spaces.

Before looking further I thought one of you guys may have the answer.

Thanks in advance

How To Select Rows With Max Value And Date Difference

I have here a query which delivers me the user data from the last month. The problem what I have is, if employee have more then one rows in this month, they will be also deliverd. But exactly this is not needed. I need only the last record from last month.

SELECT a.FIRMA,
a.PSNR,
a.FELDNR,
a.PFLFDNR,
a.INHALT AS FTE,
a.PFGLTAB,

[Code] ....

Result from Query at the moment:

FIRMAPSNRFELDNRPFLFDNRFTEPFGLTABPFGLTBISKSTNRPSPERSNR
1351022112013082820320101000084000895

136402220,942015011520321231000072000920

As you can see, PSNR=364 has two rows and i need only the row from last month and last date.Maybe we can use Field PFLFDNR as counter. get only one row for every employee?

like this

Select Rows Based On Multiple Date Conditions

Jun 5, 2008

Hi,
I have 1 table with 5 rows. One of the rows has dateTime values. I want to know how many rows there are with a value in that column < today AND how many rows there are with a value in that column > today.
I'm not sure how to do this.

SELECT Count(*) WHERE dateColumn <= today AND dateColumn > today gives me everything.
I like to end up with a column containing the count of rows <= today
and a column with rows where date > today.

Is this possible in SQL or do I have to retrieve all rows and then loop over the resultset and check each row?

Thanks,
Marc

How can I format the value in the select statement so I get a thousand separator(s) and two decimals in the resultset.

Is it possible to force this <NULL> value to be a fixed string value instead in the select statement.

SQL Server 2008 :: Query To Select Every 2 Rows Based On A Date?

Sep 6, 2015

I have a table like the following (with much more data, but the concept is the same) with Dates and Actions for People and a column called Action with beginning Dates and end dates.

(I attached a picture because I could not figure out how to Format it)

begin Date end Date Name

begin 2014-10-15 end 2014-10-31 phil
begin 2014-09-18 end 2014-09-30 phil
begin 2014-08-21 end 2014-08-23 John

I need the query to be like this. The idea is to have the query grab the next 'END' not all Ends, which my attempts have done i.e. I get not just the closest end to the begin date, but ALL Ends with the same Person.

I Need it to look like this:

begin Date end Date Name

begin 2014-10-15 end 2014-10-31 phil
begin 2014-09-18 end 2014-09-30 phil
begin 2014-08-21 end 2014-08-23 John

There can be different People so the query Needs to return the beginning and end rows for the Person in sequential order.I can't figure out how to select only the 'next' end. My query always gets 'end' values that have a 'begin'. I

Select Multiple Rows Based On Date Interval From Table

Apr 7, 2015

I have a table in which each record has a initial date and a final date. I would like to create I query that gives me one row for each month between the initial date and the final date. It would be something like this:

Original:

Product|price|initial_date|final_date
A|20.50|2014-08-10|2014-10-01
B|50|2015-01-15|2015-02-20

Resulting view:

A|20.5|2014-08-01
A|20.5|2014-09-01
A|20.5|2014-10-01
B|50|2015-01-01
B|50|2015-02-01

I would like to do that, because these dates correspond to the time in which the products are in possession of sellers, so I would to use this resulting query to generate a pivot chart in Excel to illustrate the value of the goods that are with our sellers in each month.

Is it possible to do it? I think I could do that direct in VBA, but I think that maybe it would be faster if I could do it directly in SQL.

By the way, I am using MS SQL Server and SQL Server Manegement Studio 2012.

How To Get Current Date Using Getdate() Or Any Other Function

Aug 26, 2002

Hi!

I'm new to T-SQL and trying out my queries using the SQL Query Analyzer.

What I intend to do is to retrieve records based on current date. The field is Trans_R.Tr_Date, of type nvarchar(255) and the data inside the field is formatted as yyyymmdd.

My Q's are:

1. Where should I put the WHERE statement at?

2. Is there any other way to work around this problem without resorting to converting the Trans_R.Tr_Date field to Datetime datatype beforehand?

3. I tried using Getdate function as part of the WHERE statement but nothing comes out. Would this WHERE statement work (or make sense)?

WHERE Trans_R.Tr_date = getdate()

Please advise and thanks in advance.

To Get Date Only In SQL From Field Stored As Getdate()

Aug 28, 2002

I am trying to run the query :

SELECT Payment_Date
FROM dbo.tbl_PaymentDt
WHERE Payment_Date BETWEEN '08/06/2002' AND
'08/07/2002'

In the table, Payment_Date is stored as default value getdate(). The above query results in the records for '08/06/2002' only, even if the records are present for '08/07/2002'. This problem is probably due to the format in which date is stored. Here date is stored along with time.

Pl tell me the work around so that when dates are compared, time is ignored.

Pl tell me a function available in SQl which only give date minus time from a field stored as GetDate().

Thanks. Waiting for ur reply.
