So I have to build dynamic T-SQL because of a date parameter that will be provided. The Date Parameter will be provided in SSRS in normal MM/DD/CCYY format. So how do I then convert that date to my Oracle format
So my data column [EODPosting].[MatchDate] is defined as a DATE column. I am trying to SELECT from my table where [EODPosting].[MatchDate] is today's date.
Is this not working because GETDATE() is like a timestamp format? How can I get this to work to return those rows where [EODPosting].[MatchDate] is equal to today's date?
What is the recommended method of returning a formatted date from a stored procedure?
The date is held in a date time field. I wish to return the date formatted as:
dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm
for display in a bound text box on a win form. JUst selecting the date and binding it to the text box shows:
dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss
I do not want the :ss to show. A textbox does not have a format property (that I can see). I suppose I could create my own textbox inheriting from the standard and apply a display format property. I thought it may be easier to select as required in an sp. The textbox is read only on the form.
I was looking at:
select jobHeaders.DateTimeJobTaken AS [Job Taken], CAST(datepart(dd,jobHeaders.DateTimeJobTaken) as char(2)) + '/' + CAST(datepart(mm,jobHeaders.DateTimeJobTaken) as char(2)) + '/' + CAST(datepart(yyyy,jobHeaders.DateTimeJobTaken) as char(4))
from jobHeaders
but this gives : 8 /3 /2004 with spaces.
Before looking further I thought one of you guys may have the answer.
I have here a query which delivers me the user data from the last month. The problem what I have is, if employee have more then one rows in this month, they will be also deliverd. But exactly this is not needed. I need only the last record from last month.
SELECT a.FIRMA, a.PSNR, a.FELDNR, a.PFLFDNR, a.INHALT AS FTE, a.PFGLTAB,
As you can see, PSNR=364 has two rows and i need only the row from last month and last date.Maybe we can use Field PFLFDNR as counter. get only one row for every employee?
I have a equipment table and the equipment has a coding for each place / location or custody it has had during its life. I need to select the latest (newest) row for each piece of equipment by getting the newest from_date and to_date field combination. The following is an example. I know how to get MAX date for one column but not with two columns (from and to DATES).
Hi, I have 1 table with 5 rows. One of the rows has dateTime values. I want to know how many rows there are with a value in that column < today AND how many rows there are with a value in that column > today. I'm not sure how to do this.
SELECT Count(*) WHERE dateColumn <= today AND dateColumn > today gives me everything. I like to end up with a column containing the count of rows <= today and a column with rows where date > today.
Is this possible in SQL or do I have to retrieve all rows and then loop over the resultset and check each row?
1. Have a query that fetches a real value (e.g. 4.3345643)
Let say the field is called TheReal.
How can I format the value in the select statement so I get a thousand separator(s) and two decimals in the resultset.
2. In the same query I have a left join as well. Table 2 retur (sometimes) <NULL>. Is it possible to force this <NULL> value to be a fixed string value instead in the select statement.
I have a table like the following (with much more data, but the concept is the same) with Dates and Actions for People and a column called Action with beginning Dates and end dates.
(I attached a picture because I could not figure out how to Format it)
begin Date end Date Name
begin 2014-10-15 end 2014-10-31 phil begin 2014-09-18 end 2014-09-30 phil begin 2014-08-21 end 2014-08-23 John
I need the query to be like this. The idea is to have the query grab the next 'END' not all Ends, which my attempts have done i.e. I get not just the closest end to the begin date, but ALL Ends with the same Person.
I Need it to look like this:
begin Date end Date Name
begin 2014-10-15 end 2014-10-31 phil begin 2014-09-18 end 2014-09-30 phil begin 2014-08-21 end 2014-08-23 John
There can be different People so the query Needs to return the beginning and end rows for the Person in sequential order.I can't figure out how to select only the 'next' end. My query always gets 'end' values that have a 'begin'. I
I have a table in which each record has a initial date and a final date. I would like to create I query that gives me one row for each month between the initial date and the final date. It would be something like this:
I would like to do that, because these dates correspond to the time in which the products are in possession of sellers, so I would to use this resulting query to generate a pivot chart in Excel to illustrate the value of the goods that are with our sellers in each month.
Is it possible to do it? I think I could do that direct in VBA, but I think that maybe it would be faster if I could do it directly in SQL.
By the way, I am using MS SQL Server and SQL Server Manegement Studio 2012.
Here's my statement below. What I'm trying to get is joining the name column in master.sys.databases with a sub query for the database name, file location and backup start date from the MSDB database. The reason for this, if a new database has never been backed up, It should be returning as a NULL value, which is my goal. However, I'm getting multiple results for the backups.
select CONVERT(CHAR(100), SERVERPROPERTY('Servername')) AS Server,a.name,File_Location=b.physical_device_name,backup_start_date=max(backup_start_date) from master.sys.databases a left join(select c.database_name,backup_start_date=max(backup_start_date),b.physical_device_name from msdb.dbo.backupmediafamily b join msdb.dbo.backupset c on c.media_set_id=c.backup_set_id where c.type='D'
i want to use the date part of the function getdate in my sql query. the getdate function return the current date and time. i want only the date part. how can i do it.
Hi. I have a stored procedure that looks for events on the current date. I tried using GETDATE() but i realized that is looking for the current date AND time. how can i use this to find only the current date? thanks a bunch for your help!
When I wrote "select getdate() " at SQL Query then result appear : 31 Desember 2001
But my server date/time setting at control panel is 18 pebruary 2002.
If I restart that SQL Database than select getdate() is the same with Server date/time.
Why select getdate() at sql server is different with server date/time at control panel ? is there any way to solve this problem without restart that database ?
I'm new to T-SQL and trying out my queries using the SQL Query Analyzer.
What I intend to do is to retrieve records based on current date. The field is Trans_R.Tr_Date, of type nvarchar(255) and the data inside the field is formatted as yyyymmdd.
My Q's are:
1. Where should I put the WHERE statement at?
2. Is there any other way to work around this problem without resorting to converting the Trans_R.Tr_Date field to Datetime datatype beforehand?
3. I tried using Getdate function as part of the WHERE statement but nothing comes out. Would this WHERE statement work (or make sense)?
WHERE Trans_R.Tr_date = getdate()
Please advise and thanks in advance.
------------- START OF CODE -------------
SELECT Cards.card_number,Trans_R.Tr_Date,Trans_R.staff_nu mber, MIN(Trans_R.Tr_In) AS Actual_Time_In, MAX(Trans_R.Tr_Out) AS Actual_Time_Out,
'Status'= CASE WHEN MIN(Trans_R.Tr_In) IS NULL THEN 'ABSENT' WHEN MIN(Trans_R.Tr_In) < 171500 THEN 'ATTEND' ELSE 'ABSENT' END,
'Late Time' = CASE WHEN (MIN(Tr_In) - 080000> 0) THEN (MIN(Tr_In) - 080000) ELSE '' END,
FROM Trans_R INNER JOIN Cards ON Trans_R.Staff_Number = Cards.Staff_Number GROUP BY Cards.card_number,trans_r.staff_Number,Trans_R.Tr_ Date
SELECT Payment_Date FROM dbo.tbl_PaymentDt WHERE Payment_Date BETWEEN '08/06/2002' AND '08/07/2002'
In the table, Payment_Date is stored as default value getdate(). The above query results in the records for '08/06/2002' only, even if the records are present for '08/07/2002'. This problem is probably due to the format in which date is stored. Here date is stored along with time.
Pl tell me the work around so that when dates are compared, time is ignored.
Pl tell me a function available in SQl which only give date minus time from a field stored as GetDate().
I tried to find it on the Internet, but was unsuccessful. If someone can help me with a select statement that will return JUST the current month and year or day and month. I would really appreciate it.
Hi, I need to return the system date to a column when a checkbox in another column becomes true, e.g. the instant a user updates a table where checkbox.value = 'true' it will record the date that it happened in another column.
I'm using some files to show certain pages on certain date for an example
File name : aa.doc start date: 10/02/00 end date : 10/03/00
But it expires on 10/02/00, here is the strored procedure:
Before the date comes, it expires the page Here is my stored procedure:
" SELECT startdate, enddate, archivedate and (startdate is null or (getdate() >= startdate and getdate() <= enddate)) and (archivedate is null or (getdate() <= archivedate)) group by startdate, enddate order by startdate desc "

My goal is to select values from the same date range for a month on month view to compare values month over month. I've tried using the date trunc function but I'm not sure what the best way to attack this is. My thoughts are I need to somehow select first day of every month + interval 'x days' (but I don't know the syntax). In other words, I want to see
Select Jan 1- 23rd feb 1-23rd march 1-23rd april 1-23rd ,value from table
I have a table which is returning inconsistent results when I queryit! In query analyzer:If I do "SELECT * FROM TABLE_NAME" I get no rows returned. If I do "SELECT COL1, COL2 FROM TABLE_NAME" I get 4 rows returned. In Enterprise manager:If I do "return all rows" I get 4 rows returned, and the SQL is listedas being "SELECT * FROM dbo.TABLE_NAME".I've tried adding the "dbo." before my table name in QA, but it seemsto make no difference.I'm using SQL Server 2000, which is apparently 8.00534.Can anyone help me, or give me ideas about what to check? Thanks,Rowland.
