Selecting And Placing Values From Sql Query Into Textboxes

Hi. I have an sql query that i use to insert articles to a sql databse table and for that i use addWithValue to select witch textboxes etc goes where in the database.

Now i need to retrive these values and place them back into some other textboxes (some of them multiline) ,and i wonder if there are any similar ways to retrive values like AddWithparameter so i can easily do textBox.text = //whatever goes here ?

Placing Textboxes In Headers Of Reports

Hi,

After exporting the report the column headers in the rreport should not scroll, it has to fix with report headers. If i move the column headers to report header the columns are merging in excel, some columns are hiding.

For ex: I have 10 columns, it has to take from A to K but it is taking A to P. one column is occupying two columns. how to avoid this merging and how to place the column headers in the report header.

I have a problem trying to get a value from textbox 1 and textbox 2.If those two values match the data in the database then it has toreturn a third corresponding value to a third textbox (or label) aftera user clicks a submit button. Ca't Insert Textboxes Values Into A Database Table

Hello, my problem is that I have 2 textboxes and when the user writes somthing and clicks the submit button I want these values to be stored in a database table. I am using the following code but nothing seems to hapen. Do I have a problem with the Query (Insert)??? Or do I miss something else. Please respond as I can't find this.

Handling Large Data Values In Textboxes

Hi, Ive got a report using a List item that is vertically displaying the columns from a table. The problem I run into, is that some of the fields in this table contain large blocks of text where the users have entered comments and such.

I am using Textboxes to display this data.

So my report will look something like

Field label 1 Field value 1
Field label 2 Field value 2
Field label 3


<white space>



<page break>

Field value 3 ---> this is a big block of text
Field label 4 Field value 4
etc
------
It appears as though the report attempts to keep the contents of each textbox together even if that means breaking onto an entirely new page to do this. I would prefer for the data to flow more natrually instead where the page breaks in the middle of the data being displayed should it be too large to fit on the page it started on.

Field label 3 Field value 3 --- As much as can fit on this page

Calculating Textboxes Values Grouped In Diferent Lists

I have to Lists filtered by the same field. One List shows all records with the field IsClokedIn value = TRUE and the other list =FALSE. I have only one dataset that retrieve the ClockIn and Clock out for one user. In a perfect world, the user MUST clock in and always clock out. So, when i created my dataset i ordered by UserClockingID (whick is primary key). So, this MUST retrieve a dataset with alternate records IN / OUT (TRUE or FALSE)

Ex.

UserClokingID UserID Time IsClockedIN

2323 34 8:32:03 TRUE

2324 34 12:07:02 FALSE

2325 34 13:05:03 TRUE

2326 34 14:53:02 FALSE

2327 34 15:10:03 TRUE

2328 34 17:32:02 FALSE



All i need is to calculate (sum then divide by 60) the minutes returned by the method DateDiff between the first row in my TRUE filtered list and the first row in my FALSE filetered list... and so on for the 2nd, 3rd ..... I can get the minutes by taking the values directly from the Fields!IsClockedIn.Value and using a condition to "grab" the previous record if the current record ClockedIn.Value=FALSE. I already did that.

my problem is that when i try to perform a calculation of textboxes values(those with the ammount of minutes for every pair of records from the datalist) out of the group. It says you can only do that inside the group or dataregion.

Is there any work around?



I really need to get this solved.

In my SSRS report i have a date parameter and i want to set to it a default value with a complicated logic. I arrived at this strange behaviour:

Today is May 6th, wednesday. If i use the following expression:

DateAdd("d",Weekday(Today(),DayOfWeek.Sunday),Today())

for the default time picker I get May 9th. If I use exactly the same expression in a textbox in the same report

DateAdd("d",Weekday(Today(),DayOfWeek.Sunday),Today()).ToLongDateString()

I get May 10th! The only thing that changes is the toString. Why are the two values different? I tried with different expressions and the difference arises when i start using Weekday(Today(), somevalue).

The result of Weekday should be independent from regional settings as I am forcing Sunday to be the first day of the week, right?

Selecting Null Values

I have a stored procedure that allows users to select addresses based on partially supplied information from the user.  My procedure seems to work fine in all but a few cases. If a user decides to select all the rows for a particular country the procedure below does not return any rows even if the rows exist.  I tracked this down to the fact that for Non US countries I set both the StateCode and Country Code to nulls. .
 Below is a partial version of my code.  Can anyone show me how I can do a "Like" Search even if some of the fields in the row contain null values?

I want to check if the tbaddress.address1 tbaddress_address1 if it is =null or empty then make it = tbaddress.address2 tbaddress_address2, at the same time I make the tbaddress.address2 tbaddress_address2, null. Otherwise leave it as it is.

Actually, I am working with the report and the tbaddress.address1 carrying the apt number. if there is no aprt # then the line print blanks. so that brings the empty line between the street address and the citystate line.
That is what i am tryig to cover. There could be a way to do this from the crystal report but I am thinking of doing this way cause I can't get the solution to do it from the crystal report.

Hi,I have a message system, where people insert their message to the database, and others pick up their messages by selecting messages that have their username as the reciever ID.I have just intoduced bulk message sending - sending to multiple users. This requires many usernames being entered into the recievername column, seperated by a comma.Is there a way to select messages if the column name contains their username, rather than is their username? This is probably the wrong category to post my question in. Apologies if it is.

I have got a Data Flow Task that has an OLE DB Source and a Flat file destination.

Is there a way to do the following:

SELECT id,'31809','C:LCImportDataImages' & id & '.jpg', '1' FROM table1

This obviously doesn't work but I want to insert the id from the table, followed by the value '31809', followed by 'C:LCImportDataImagesid.jpg', followed by '1'

So, the id in 'C:LCImportDataImagesid.jpg' is the same as the id from the table.

I want the file to look like:

1, 31809, C:LCImportDataImages1.jpg, 1
2, 31809, C:LCImportDataImages2.jpg, 1
5, 31809, C:LCImportDataImages5.jpg, 1
etc...

I would really appreciate it if someone could point me to the right direction.

I am trying to work on it..will put up a solution if I find one myself.

I am editing a pre-existing view.This view is already bringing data from 40+ tables so I am to modify itwithout screwing with anything else that is already in there.I need to (left) join it with a new table that lists deposits and thedates they are due. What I need is to print, for each record in theview, the due date for the next deposit due and the total of allpayments that they will have made by the next due date.So this is how things are. I join the table and it obviously bringsmultiple records for each record (one for each matching one in the newtable). I need, instead, to be able to make out what due date I shouldprint (the first one that is GETDATE()?) and the total of deposits upto that date.Now, payments can be either dollar amounts or percentages of anotheramount in the view. Hi, i have something like this:
SELECT a.boardname, a.description, a.threadcount, a.answercount, a.lastthreadid, b.username, b.subject, b.created FROM forum_board AS a, forum_topics AS b WHERE (a.forumid = @ID) AND (b.id = a.lastthreadid)
The problem here is that lastthreadid does not always have a post linked to it, so sometimes its null. I want it to still return all the boards and then just returnnull values or "" in b.username, b.subject, b.createdThis returns nothing. How can i force it to select these values?

Reporting Services :: Selecting Data Using One Parameter With Multiple Text Values

I am using SSRS 2008 R2 Report Builder 3.0 (10.50.4276.0) . I have simple set of data which has a persons Title and Name e.g. Mr Smith, Miss Jones, Doctor Foster

The report has a parameter where the user can select which records to show based on the matching titles (Mr, Miss, Doctor)

The Query for the report uses Title in (@Title) where @Title is the only parameter which can take multiple values. The report works correctly for any 1 value selected, but as soon as 2 or more values are ticked in the drop down, it fails.

I believe the parameter value is being passed into the query with a comma separating the values e.g. Mr,Miss which causes the IN statement to give an error, as the statement would be where Title IN ('Mr,Miss') which does not match any of the data values.

The parameter value passed needs to be 'Mr','Miss' for the IN statement to work. What statement do I have to put in the report query to get it to select any of the data rows where the title matches any 1 of the selected values?

I have a line chart which works great except when the x axis displays duplicate months. I have tried format codes of MM-YYYY and MMM and have the "numeric or time-scale values" checkbox checked. The data displays fine but the X axis in the case of the MMM format code displays as:

leaving the user to wonder where exactly does October and November start...

I've googled around but don't see off-hand what I am doing wrong. I am display 3 simultaneous lines if that matters...

I have another column in the Master table named ID.  This ID is the key that I need to reference to allow users to see and edit data in other tables.  So I would like to be able to do something like Select ID from Master where AccountName = @LoginName and be able to pass this value to  a Select statement against another table(Awards) for a DetailsView2 on the same page. Alternatively the value that I am trying to query is in the first row of DetailsView1.  Is it possible to access the value in that field and pass it in the query for DetailsView2?  This would be simpler if possible.I am not sure how to go about this and would appreciate any guidance that you could provide.  I have found a lot on the web regarding this based on a selected value but not through the method that I am trying to use.  Thanks in advance,Ken

Selecting A Distinct Row Query

I am trying to append data from a source table to a destination table, the only difference between the tables is that a primary key has been established on the destination table. Problem is, the source table has a handful of duplicate values in the column that corresponds to primary on destination table; so when I run the query I get a primary key conflict. What I'd like to do is select distinct values from the source table to avoid the conflict, but am having trouble getting it to run. Here is the statement-

INSERT INTO cust_master
SELECT DISTINCT cust_master_temp.*
FROM cust_mast_temp LEFT OUTER JOIN
cust_master ON cust_master.temp.CUST_NUMBER = cust_master.CUST_NUMBER

Selecting Only Earliest Record - Query Help

I'm no SQL whizz yet but I'm learning hard, and need to get some information from our DB rather urgently so have resorted to this fantastic forum, only I can't find what I'm looking for.

Basically I'm selecting a whole load of entries that have a (admission)date field after 2001, but I only want to return the Earliest (admission) for each (patients number).

Here is the script I have created to select all the data, but how can I limit the results to just the earliest (admission date) for each (patient).


SELECT
Admission_Year, Admission_Month, Age_On_Admission, [Length of stay(continuing)], [Patient's Number], [Cons epis seq no], Sex, [Main Primary Pas Diag], [Date of Death], [Epi duration], [OP Code1], [Admission date], [Date of Death] - [Admission date] AS [days before death],[Intended Management]
FROM dbo.Admissions
WHERE (Admission_Year > 2001) AND (Age_On_Admission > '64') AND ([Intended Management] = 'inpatient') AND ([Date of Death] IS NULL)


I would really appreciate it if anyone can help with this, I'm sorry I can't really contribute to this forum as an SQL expert as .net is really my forte and I usually spend my time contributing to the asp.net forums. :)

Help With A Query (Selecting Distinct Rows As Well As How To Use NOW())

Hi All,

I'm a beginner in SQL and would like some help with writing a query that needs to:

a) Return the latest time that an event happened (along with the event), and also

b) Determine if this event occurred more than 30mins ago.



For example, Table EVENT consists of the following data:

EVENT DateTime,

A 16/1/08, 14:03:55

B 16/1/08, 14:30:27

A 16/1/08, 17:42:18



I would like the results for the first part of query to be:

EVENT DateTime,

A 16/1/08, 17:42:18

B 16/1/08, 14:30:27

I have tried creating a query based off this thread, but for some reason it kept complaining that the EVENT column in Table EVENT didn't exist.

For the part b), I have no clue as to what I should do apart from that I would need to use NOW().



Any help would be appreciated.

Selecting Multiple Column From Sub Query.

Hi,
I am having two tables Products and Transaction

In products I have ProductID and Description. (10 Records)
In Transaction I have ProductID, Lot, Quantity and ListID . ( 4 Million Records)

When I use the inner join between these tables as below query its taking lot of time to give output.

select ProductID, Desc, Lot, qty from Products inner join Transactions on Products.ProductID = Transactions.ProductID
where ListID = '9090909'

otherwise, if I use the below query its takes very few milli seconds to give output but I am not able to get the description from the product table.
select * from Transactions TR where TR.ListID= '9090909' and TR.ProductID in

(select NDC from Products where Products.ProductID = TR.ProductID)

Any from can help me to get the description too at very few times.

Placing A Formula

Hi everyone, I have a small dilema here. I am running SSRS 2000, and I have a report that is grouped by Part Number. I have =Fields!Formula.Value < .1 so I can view only what is greater than .1 Well, my problem is that when I put it under the group Visibility properties, it does not pull all the data. and if i put it under detail Visibility. It does show me everything but any Part Number that is less than .1 shows just the part number but no detail. How can I make my report show all my data but without leaving data out????
