Jul 25, 2006

I have just upload my site to a which is going to be host the site, the thing is the site runs great on my PC. But when i login or do a search i get an error  "
Server Error in '/' Application" i know its something to do with the Web config as i read something on here about it but i cant find that post now.

Site URl http://www.team-nat.co.uk

Try the login or click on the stolen marker link and you will see the error im getting.

This is my web config. <configuration xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/.NetConfiguration/v2.0">
<appSettings/>
<connectionStrings>
<add name="DatabaseConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename="C:Documents and Settings
ickMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005marker-regApp_DataDatabase.mdf";Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
<add name="DatabaseConnectionString1" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
<add name="ConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|ASPNETDB.MDF;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
<add name="ConnectionString2" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|markers.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
<add name="ConnectionString3" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|
ews.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
<add name="ConnectionString4" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|messages.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>
<system.web>

 I know its something to do with the connectionStrings as its pointing to my PC and not at where it should be at the server its running on but i have spent the last 3 hours editing the web config but it does not matter what i do i cant get it to work.

What am i missing here?

Ps Im new to ASP.

Thanks

Problem With One Application With The Error:26 - Error Locating Server/instance Specified

Nov 9, 2007

Hello all!

I have been researching this problem on the net. I have everything setup, here is the wierd part. I did a test windows application, and that application connects into my database just fine. I have SQL DEV 2005, everything is on my laptop. I have websites that I have wrote that connects fine.

I have application that give me this error. Now the only thing is that I wrote this windows app on a diffrent machine, with a diffrent SQL 2005 server. I had to move everything on my laptop, so I can finish on site at the clients place. So I grabbed the project, copied it over, and opened it on my laptop. No problems. I created a new database, scripted everything from the other server, and ran those scripts on my laptop to create the tables, SP etc.

Now my test application I created on my laptop, I can connect to the databse just fine with this string.

<add name="TestDataGrid.My.MySettings.TestConnectionString"

connectionString="Data Source=MKE01-2N92461;Initial Catalog=TestDB;Integrated Security=True"

providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

I can also connect to the database that I brought over from the other server. Could there be somthing with the Datasets, or something like that?
Any Thoughts?

TIA!

Rudy

SQL Server Error While Deploying ASP.Net 2.0 Application To Development Server.

Apr 1, 2007

Hi Everybody,
I have made one simple application in asp.net 2.0 using VS 2005. I got following error
 Server Error in '/[applicationname]' Application. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
- When i got on my local machine i solved it by deleting sqlexpress directory from user's account and it was due to that I have installed VS 2005 on machine and by default it installs sql express with it.
- But I could not solved this error on my Development Server wherein there is no VS 2005. Only .Net framework 2.0 & 1.1 are there. My all other applications are running well.
 So if any one have idea regarding the solution for this error then please reply me soon. It is very urgent.

Thanks to all of you.
Regards, Hardik B.

Server Error In '/' Application. Database Cannot Be Upgraded Because It Is Read Only??

Dec 5, 2005

 Server Error in '/' Application.

Database 'C:INETPUBDEMO.TRUTHSTONE.COMAPP_DATAASPNETDB.MDF' cannot be upgraded because it is read-only or has read-only files. Make the database or files writeable, and rerun recovery.Cannot open user default database. Login failed.Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'.
Hi,
Strange one.  I have copied my working web-site to the production server and get this message.
Tried copying new set of database files and reset the server to ensure no applications could be accessing the database files.  Still get the same error.
Works fine on my Visual Studio VWD Express version.

PS I am not trying to upgrade the database, just use it!

SQL 2005: Pooling, Application Roles And SQL Server Error 18059

Nov 24, 2007

Hi all:

[Posting this in the security forum because in this forum I found a related post.]

I have a problem with SQL Server 2005 and application roles and pooling. I needed to use application roles and I needed to use pooling at the same time for an application. I am using sp_setapprole and sp_unsetapprole. In order to ensure that the application role is always set and unset by the application, I actually developed a custom Data Provider based on the SqlClient Data Provider. I have a custom Connection and Command class that wrap the SqlClient versions. Upon opening my custom Connection class, I execute the sp_setapprole stored procedure. Upon closing or disposing the connection, I call sp_unsetapprole.

This works fine in 99% of my tests. However, I have three or four methods (always the same ones, but one only fails ever so often) that fail, but only under the following circumstances:

Pooling is turned on (but pool size doesn't matter)

I am using my custom Data Provider (using System.Data.SqlClient does not cause this issue... but I am also not using approles then)

When other tests have run in the same test run. I.e. when I run the failing methods by themselves in a test run, there is no problem.
So it seems to me that the problem is related to using application roles with pooling turned on. For scalability reasons, we cannot turn pooling off. When the methods fail, I see the following two (2) entries in the SQL Log:

Error: 18059, Severity: 20, State 1.

The connection has been dropped because the principal that opened it subsequently assumed a new security context, and then tried to reset the connection under its impersonated security context. This scenario is not supported. See "Impersonation Overview" in Books Online.
I understand the error message somewhat. However, I am not sure why the "reset" of the connection occurs. My code does not call reset anywhere, so it must be something that happens in the background.

I am reviewing code to see if there is possibly a situation where the sp_unsetapprole procedure does not get called or does not get called successfully, but there is a lot of code (in many custom components).

I would like to know if anyone has a suggestion on how to solve this problem, or, find the code that may be causing the problem.

Thanks in advance,

SA.

Error Provider Cannot Be Found. It May Not Be Properly Installed. After Deploying Application On Windows 2003 Server

May 23, 2007

hello folks

i have recently started to work with the analysis services and i am having some problems.

i have made a web application that for now just tries to connect to an analysis server.

The server is installed on an xp sp 2 system.

for testing, i used my local computer, which is running also win xp sp2. After deploying, the application can connect to the AS server on the other machine. the problem occurs when i try to deploy the applicatuion on the production server, which is running win 2k3 server on 32 bit. When deploying, i use the same connection string, so it should try to connect to the AS server installed on a win xp sp2 system.

The first thing that came to my mind was to check the MDAC versions, be cause of the message: "Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed."

on my computer, where the application worked ok, the version is MDAC 2.8 SP 1 Windows XP SP 2

on the win2k3 server, the MDAC version is : MDAC 2.8 SP2.... i thought it was the version of the service pack, so o searched for the update of MDAC 2.8 SP1, trying to install mdac 2.8 sp2 to see if i was to see the same error, but i found that mdac 2.8 sp2 is only for win2k3 server, and for win xp is mdac 2.8 sp1, according to this link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/884103

Now i got confused and have no clues how to make this work...

Can anybody give any hint?
